Futurama at Comic-Con 2008 (Report)

Jon - who back in 2003 rode his bike to the FOX HQ to deliver our 1,400-page petition to resurrect Futurama - managed to get tickets to last week's Comic-Con in San Diego. He went to the Futurama panel on Saturday that was run by Matt Groening & David X. Cohen (among others). His report includes information on where Futurama could go in the future and pictures of the event.

Judging from a poster shown at Comic-Con, the release date for the next Futurama movie "Bender's Game" seems to be set to November 4th, 2008.

Touching Down On DVD And Blu-ray Disc November 4

Century City, CA - Head back to the future when 'Futurama: Bender's Game' premieres on DVD and, for the first time, Blu-ray Disc November 4 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Park your hover-car and saddle up your unicorn for the most fantastical "Futurama" yet: 'Futurama: Bender's Game'. With fuel prices skyrocketing, the Planet Express crew sets off on a dangerous mission to infiltrate the world's only dark-matter mine, source of all spaceship fuel. The third installment of four all-new feature-length adventures, the 'Futurama: Bender's Game' DVD and Blu-ray are packed with special features. Hosted by David X. Futurama Forum PEEL Moved Servers

After having moved CGEF to a new server last month, our affiliated Futurama forum PEEL followed suit last weekend. In addition to switching to the new, faster server, the old forum software from the year 2000 ("4 million lines of BASIC") was finally upgraded to something modern.

Audio Interview with Rich Moore

Slashfilm blog poster David Chen scored an 18 minutes phone interview with Futurama director Rich Moore. They talk some about how Futurama got started, a tiny bit about where Futurama is going with the new movie Bender's Game and then on what projects Rich is going to be working during the next few years:
Q: Rich, could you please tell our listeners how you've been involved in the Futurama series exactly over the past few years?

A: My involvment with Futurama, it started ... God, is it about 10 years ago? I've known Matt Groening since the beginning of the Simpsons. I was a director on The Simpsons from season one to five. That's where I met Matt. We both enjoyed working with each other. Or I should say, I enjoyed working with Matt. I don't want to speak for him. Maybe he hates me. I don't know.
Back in 1998... well waaay back like in season two of The Simpsons, Matt and I had spoken about an idea that he had about a new show which was going to be a science fiction show kind of what The Simpsons were to say like The Flintstones, this new show would be his take on The Jetsons. We talked a little bit about it and were real excited about it back then. And it just kinda went away because we were so busy on The Simpsons. Then in 1998 he called me again and talked about his idea and wanted me to come by and talk with him and David Cohen about it. And this show turned out to be Futurama.
