I saw this episode last night on CN and, today, I've been breaking into tears repeatedly over that last scene. They didn't have to write the ending that way. It's one of the saddest things I've ever experienced. I wonder why they decided to do that?

The poor little dog was the epitome of loyalty, waiting patiently, day after day, year after year, for his friend and companion (Fry) to come back. Fry, now long gone, thinks Seymore just latched onto someone new. But we see that the little guy literally gave up his life waiting for what would never be -- the return of his best friend and companion. He ends up dying alone, lonely, without the love of his life.

The saddest part is that the little dog probably thought Fry was thinking of him as much as he was thinking of Fry -- every minute of every day, for years and years. But Fry was gone, not thinking much about him until he visited the museum, and eventually decided against "bringing him back." The poor little dog lived a life of misery because of his unrequited love and devotion.

Very, very sad. I'm crying as I type this! I tell myself it's just a story, a cartoon even! But it's still so damn sad. If only they could somehow go back in time and give that poor little dog a happy life instead of what must have been a horrible daily diet of abject disappointment. Day after day, waiting for someone who is just never coming, but refusing to give up all thw way until he literally dies waiting for his friend.

Absolutely imense episode. Showing the bond between a man and his dog brings a tear to my eyes. The music at the end just set the scene so well.

wow this episode made me almost cry. and it made it appreciate my dog even more. this is probably the first time i cried because of a cartoon. the song on that was played at the end is called "i will wait for you" by Connie Francis. (if anyone was interested)

I have seen this episode three times and I cry every single time. Every time Seymour lays his head down on the curb, I don't just cry, I start bawling.

Very embarrassing for a 26 year old male to admit...

But I love it.

This was on Adult Swim a few nights ago and I HAD to change the channel because I could not take crying that much. I've only seen this two other times and I really can't watch it.

I really love the episode. The only problem I have is near the end. No matter how many times I watch it, I always cry. When Seymour is sitting on the curb and that sad music is playing. I always tear up!
