I just watched the episode on DVD and Im wondering if they tampered with the original and put that Nibbler shadow in when Fry fell just to link it with the later episode when we find out Nibbler pushed him into the freeze capsule

Such Fresh writing, and the humor is outrageous. If only Fox had given it a real hance, this could have been bigger than the Simpsons.
Bender is one of the greatest animated characters ever made.

The perfect introduction to the series. It has everything you could want and then even more.

A decent opening episode. not great, but pretty good. Bender steals the show. The middle was a bit boring -- the scene with Leela chasing Bender and Fry, especially in the head museum just wasn't all that funny. The passage of time sequence at the beginning was great -- it was almost creepy. Overall, a good start.

Great first episode. Good animation, and even better writing and jokes. They introduced the main characters well, it wasn't forced. Liked the way they put Blinky in the episode. Plus Benders first apperence was great. Gotta love the suicide booth.

Quotes:
Bender's first "Bite my shiny metal ass."

"I don't want people thinking we're robo-sexuals, so from now on you'll be my de-bugger(Bender)."
