Ok I have watched the episode again. My opinion has changed. The episode was kind of uneven, there were some real strong points and some negative. First the negative, the humor was a little flatter then usual, Luck of the Fryish had strong humor with the emotion. Some of the jokes this time just didn't work (the Balloon, the father's line before he left Leela, some others) Also the narrative could have been done in a more powerful way. Leela's parents shouldn't have appeared after the first act, ruins some of the surprise later in the ep. Also the flashback seemed to be out of place, it would have made more sense right after Fry took off the hoods, the only problem was the time between the two flashbacks might be too small. Now the good. There was some really creative camera angles, especially when Leela was chasing after her parents. Small details in the background in the sewer, the zoom down from above, and the amazing ripple effect in the toxic waste. The returning mutants had good scenes, good additions of the leg mutant who will probably appear again. Leelaís parents didnít have a lot of screen time now have interesting psudo-Jewish personalities; hopefully they will become minor reoccurring characters (like Hermesí wife or Scruffy) The voice acting Katey Sagal did a great job, was surprised how emotional she got was near the end.

Some quick notes
Thought the Song sounded a little like JPOP

An amusing episode, worth watching if only for the end where there's a lemmings song remix. You can get another remix of the same song here

meh. pretty bad when compared to other episodes this season. Completely story driven, almost no humor. The funnier parts involved the professor.

yo, leela's parents are there, in 'i second that emotion'when that brainy guy sings the legend of alchuganibre (or whatever).
they appear on the top left of the screen.

It wasn't the greatest episode ever, but with the show on the way out, I'll take what I can get! In which case it was like finding a liter of water in the desert.

Hey good episode, Story heavy yea, but thats the bueaty of the show. The dynamics of the Charachters, the fact that Leela(or anyone for that matter) can change and grow as a charachter. That is what makes this show so much better than 90% of the other crap that gets put on tv.

Much agreed with the previous post. Character development and stories that actually move forward with plot and purpose are all too quickly choked out reality Tv and, to quote Fry, "the genre, World's blankiest blanks". This episode was not as zinger heavy as others, but still managed to be reasonably funny while providing a huge insight into one of the key characters. Great job!

I thought it was quite a good episodes. The Machine and Bender and the orphinarium were very funny.

FoolishCarpenter asked
"Anyway does anybody here know the name of the song which was played towards the end of the show?"

I'm wondering the same thing, does anyone know the artist or song name?

Am I the ONLY fan creeped out by the final shot? Leela's parents live in her WALLS. They don't talk to her, but they come out at night and stroke her head. That's SICK. (I'm assuming they've sedated Nibbler somehow; he'd chew 'em up in a second if they tried to lay a tentacle on her. Where IS he, anyway?) The only way the final shot could be worse is if it takes place AFTER the grand revelation, and they're still monitoring her life from the grates. Clue up, Leela's parents: cell phones. That way your daughter doesn't have to worry about Mom and Dad watching her while she's on the crapper or making another genital-related mistake like Fry/Zap/Kevin/Bryan/Scruffy/whomever. You give your adult daughter less privacy than an infant has.
