Overall a good episode, with a great plot, but unfortunately the execution left something to be desired: - What is the point of the wall-hanging at the orphanarium? was there a joke here? - Leela's suicide-dive into the radioactive waste didn't feel right. Why would she dive into waste when she thought she'd be mutated? Just because of a hunch? please. Come up with a better reason for your characters to dive a few hundred feet into waste please. -Alot of the jokes fell flat or were out of place. The episode seemed confused as to whether it would be a drama or a comedy -I can only compare it to Luck of the Fryish, which was better.

it is good to know more about the Planet Express crew, and It has been a shock to know that Leela is a mutant. Very brilliant...

This has to be the worst futurama episode. It had little or no jokes and like someone pointed out before it wasnt as touching as other plot driven episodes i.e. luck of the fryish. I think Leelas background should of remained secret forever. The fact that I think leela is the worst characheter in the show doesnt help either

Maybe its just because I like Leela so much, but this had a great story. The humor was worked in very well- this has to be one of the best recent episodes.

How could anyone think Leela is the worst character? Thats just nuts /me rolls eyes... the show practicaly revolves around Leela and Fry, thats like saying that "batman shouldn't be in 'Batman'" sheesh... :p

Poor... Who cares about Leela's past, unless it's funny, and this wasn't, "too much story, not enough human killing"

I think it's a great episode. Had to cry at the end the first three times I saw it. By the way, in answer to your question, FoolishCarpenter, the song that was played at the end was "Baby Love Child" by the Japanese band "Pizzicato Five". Great Song, of which a cool Japanese version exists. :-)

Fact : Its not that funny. Fact2: What it lacks in humor it adds up in emotion. Especially the ending. The song, the truth that Leela's parents were always there for her, is wow, touching, very touching.

This episode has garnered way too much harsh criticism. It was one of those sentimental episodes that just didn't happen to be AS funny as "Luck of the Fryish", but it was funny and entertaining nonetheless. I don't see how it's ranked lower than "Where the Buggalo Roam", which was, in my mind, one of the most uneven episodes in Futurama history.

I thought this episode was not really that funny, though compared to most programs it was still gripping entainment. I even was slightly bored at points. However, the emotional and cute end was heart warming like some of the simpsons episodes. These sort of episodes help the public connect with the characters which is needed with futurama to draw in more audiences, especially with boring plain old Leela. Overall a really decent epsiodes, though differen to most. Also it included some of the best remarks by bender and farnsworth.
