Sun 02nd: No Futurama (King of the Hill repeat) Sun 09th: No Futurama (King of the Hill repeat) Sun 16th: No Futurama (King of the Hill)
Quite the opposite of Cartoon Network's slogan applies here: See the Future. No more and no more and no more. |

According to the Annie Awards site it looks like Rich Moore won in the "Directing in an Animated Television Production" category for his work on the Emmy-winning "Roswell That Ends Well" episode. (There is an HTML error on their site which keeps Rich from showing as the winner).
Futurama was also nominated for "Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Television Production", but like the last several years, that one went to the Simpsons. |

"As the creator of The Simpsons, I'm very proud. As the creator of Futurama, I'm very pissed." -- Matt Groening taking Annie Award for the Simpsons over Futurama last Saturday
"Let me get through this and then you can give me your notes, Mr. Katzenberg." -- Rich Moore while throwing storyboards of his acceptance speech into the audience (instead of actually holding it) |

Starting March 25th (the day you should get your Season 1 DVDs in the US), Cartoon Network will jump back to the Futurama Premiere "Space Pilot 3k". Problem with this is that Cartoon Network will neither be showing 3ACV12 which just aired in the current "5th" season nor 3ACV22 or any of the 4ACV episodes just yet. This would indicate that FOX put some additional limits in the contract with Cartoon Network. No idea why the last episode of the 3ACV run can't be shown, though. We'll inform you if there are changes still. |

This Sunday (the 9th) at 11pm, TNT will be showing one episode of Futurama following the NBA All-Star Game as a part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim promotion. The episode will probably be "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" in which the Planet Express Crew is pitted against the classic Enterprise Crew. If you can't receive Cartoon Network but TNT, this might be a chance for you to catch this pretty fun (for ST geeks for sure) episode, which Cartoon Network won't be airing in due time. While it's nice to see that Turner is allowed to pimp out Futurama on another channel, it's a bit unfortunate that Futurama fans have to pick as Cartoon Network will be showing an episode at the same time. |

Yesterday the Writers Guild of America announced the nominees for the 55th Annual Writers Guild Awards for television and radio. Futurama writer Ken Keeler was nominated in the category "Animation - any length - one airing time" for his work on one of my all-time favourite episodes: "Godfellas".
The other nominations in this field all aired in the 2002 season on FOX: The Simpsons - The Bart wants what it wants The Simpsons - Blame it on Lisa The Simpsons - Jaws Wired Shut King of the Hill - My own private Rodeo Santa, Baby!
The winners will be announced Saturday, March 8, 2003. This is the first time that the animation writers are nominated by their parent association (WGA) instead of their own WGA Animation Writers Caucus (AWC). Last October, Futurama writer Patric Verrone got the AWC Lifetime Achievement Award. |

Time for the weekly "we're boned" news: Sun 09th: No Futurama (King of the Hill repeat) Sun 16th: No Futurama (King of the Hill) Sun 23rd: No Futurama (Simpsons repeat)
We can be somewhat optimistic about March 2nd as the rating sweeps are over then, but don't get your hopes up just yet. 3 more pre-emptions and we're likely not to see all remaining episodes this season. |

Short reminder: The Emerald City ComiCon opens doors at 10am today. Futurama/Simpsons Comic writer Ian Boothby will be there for you to answer all continuity questions about his crossover comics. Enjoy! |

The adult swim block - lead by Futurama - on TNT after their NBA All-Star game was able to pull huge numbers compared to the same time period last year: Adults 18-24 ratings (1.0) increased by 400%. Men 18-24 ratings (1.3) up by 550%. Adults 18-34 ratings (0.9) jumped by 29%. Although this is due to the lead in by Basketball, it is remarkable how Futurama was able to win the crowd over instead of just switching channels. The episode aired was "Time keeps on slippin'" with a Basketball theme. |

Sadly, Cartoon Network used its censoring scissors on Futurama for the first time. Luckily, we thought of your mental health and have the mp3 for relentless loop playing: Sweet Zombie Jesus! Sun 16th: Bender Gets Made Mon 17th: Mother's Day Tue 18th: The Problem with Popplers Wed 19th: Anthology of Interest I Thu 20th: War Is The H-Word
On other CN news: We talk about it before, but now Cartoon Network's schedule officially reflects that they will be showing "30% Iron Chef", "Love & Rocket", "Leela's Homeworld" and "Where no fan has gone before". "The Route of all Evil" is not on the list. Up to yesterday none of these were scheduled for this time around.
Additionally, Bender's voice John Dimaggio speaks Philip II in the new Monday to Thursday midnight show "Reign: The Conqueror". |

Although there isn't any Futurama on FOX tonight, you can still catch some related goodness. After the Simpsons triple feature from 7:30PM to 9PM, Leela's voice actor Katey Sagal can be seen in her prime role as Peg Bundy on "Maried with Children Reunion Special". The one hour show will have clips, individual interviews of the seven principal cast members, and a reunion of the cast on a recreation of the Bundy living room set. |

Just when we thought FOX wouldn't care for Futurama, they get busy ... shutting down planetexpress.dk - one of the better Futurama sites on the net. Sad to see one of the few general Futurama sites forced to close. |

The March 2003 issue of "Games Master" in the UK features the Futurama Video game as their cover article. Preordering for your PS-2, X-Box and GameCube is available through amazon.co.uk, though their release dates are wrong. The four page preview full of images from different levels lauds its apparent originality and close resemblance to the show's character: "The whole game is extremely tight, focused and unfolds like any other episode of [the] series. [...] While much of the game play is very derivative it rarely becomes frustrating thanks to an elegant control system and a camera that seldom deceives. Best of all is the way the game has captured the essence of its source material."
June looks most likely for a release, but we'll update you once we get the official date. |

Starting this Sunday (March 2nd) at 7PM, Sky One in the UK will start airing season 5 of Futurama. The episode will be "Crimes of the Hot" with guest star Al Gore. With The Simpsons being on at 6PM, 6:30PM and 7:30PM, Futurama will be in best company. |

Time for the weekly Cartoon Network schedule. Five episodes of Futurama for you to watch. Don't miss Sunday, "TLOTF" is really great. Sun 02nd: The Luck of the Fryrish Mon 03rd: The Bird-bot of Ice-catraz Tue 04th: Bendless Love Wed 05th: The Day the Earth Stood Stupid Thu 06th: That's Lobstertainment! Futurama airs at 11PM. At the end of March, Futurama will be going back to the pilot episode "Space Pilot 3000" - stopping short of showing the current "season 5" episodes on FOX. However, Family Guy fans will be happy to see their show being pegged after Futurama starting April 20th. |
