The following is a press release by Turner Media about the performance of its Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network in the first week of Futurama spear-heading it:

Futurama Cable Debut Scores Double, Triple-Digit Delivery/Ratings Increases in Its First Week

Cartoon Cartoon Fridays Originals Franchise Scores Year-to-Year Gains; Codename Kids Next Door Continues Growth

The Sunday-Thursday late-night premiere of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block sprinted from the starting gate with double and triple-digit delivery and ratings gains among its target audience of adults 18-34 and men 18-34, according to Nielsen Media Research. The initial week’s performance was so strong that Cartoon Network ranked #1 among ad-supported cable for delivery of males 18-34 in the Monday-Thursday 11-2 a.m. time period. Highlights of the adult-targeted block’s performance vs. the same time period last year include the following:

  • Adults 18-34 delivery (309,000) increased 46%.
  • Adults 18-34 ratings (0.5) jumped 67%.
  • Men 18-34 delivery (206,000) ballooned 114%.
  • Men 18-34 ratings (0.6) improved 100%.

    Futurama (11 p.m.), in its first week’s debut, led Adult Swim’s delivery/ratings gains, increasing adults 18-34 delivery (345,000) by 54% and ratings (0.5) by 25%. Among men 18-34, delivery (213,000) more than doubled (108%), as did ratings (0.7, up 133%).

    Among its original series for kids, Cartoon Network’s Cartoon Cartoon Fridays franchise (7 p.m.-12 a.m.) posted year-to-year delivery and ratings gains among its target audience of kids 6-11 and kids 2-11. Kids 6-11 delivery (608,000) improved by 16% and ratings (2.5) by 19%. Kids 2-11 delivery (956,000) grew by 6% and ratings (2.4) by 9%. New addition Codename: Kids Next Door (7 and 10 p.m.) continued its growth trajectory, climbing 19% in kids 2-11 delivery (940,000) and 26% in ratings (2.4).

    Samurai Jack, now running in Monday-Thursday strip at 10 p.m., once again scored as the #1 show in its time period among ad-supported cable with kids 6-11 and kids 2-11. Kids 6-11 scored a 1.8 rating and delivered 432,000 viewers. Kids 2-11 produced a 2.0 rating and delivered 814,000 viewers.
