I'm giving this 4, mainly because of Hermes bit and Bender's folk singing as well as his reactions to being left out. It was also nice seeing Amy and Zoidberg for the first time.

"The Series Has Landed" is a fun episode which adequately introduces us to the rest of the gang. The gang's mission to the moon was a step in the right direction. (I've always thought the biggest flaw of the show is there aren't enough Planet Express missions.)

Who said all sequels sucks?

They clearly wasn't watching Futurama. Because this episode was fabulous. (Yes, I use a lot of superlatives. So what? :p)

We get an introduction to the rest of the Planet Express staff, and get some additional information on Farnsworth.

Farnsworth get some more characterization. We learn how he care for his employees (not very good), his relationship with some of the others etc. Nothing standout, but very funny.

Amy, got an introduction as well. Quick and to the point: Amy Wong, of the Mars Wongs. Previous member of Kappa Kappa Wong. Good.

Hermes. Same as Amy. Quick and merciless. "Pays the bills, notify next of kin, what-have-you." Bureaucratic, and that's it.

Which gives time for Zoidberg! And what a great introduction. I dare anybody to see that scene, and not laugh, it was hillarious. His upside-down anatomy-chart, his complete ignorance of the human body, his lobsterlike apperance and the part with his mother. Oh my god, that was great. I beginnign to smile right now, just thinking about it.

The mission, and the lunar park. Not so impressed. Pretty standard fare. Funny now and then, but nothing standout. Benders folksinging was funny the first time, but got irritating later on. Benders remarks when he got thrown out, a classic though.

Good development in Fry and leela's friendship, once they get to the surface.

And then one of my favourite scenes: The talk in the Lunar Lander. I just loved. Gave Fry some substance, and Leela a chance to see the Moon with Frys eyes (no pun intended). Fry learns about maturity, and Leela learns to open her eyes for the wonders and beauty that isn't apparent at first sight. Great scene.

Good episode, lets be fair and round up. That's a 5.

PS: English, I don't know if you read this, but: This is a review section, and it doesn't include attacking others personally because the don't share your opinion. Say your opinion about the episode, and respect other peoples right to differ from that. :)

PPS: If your "review" was part of an inside joke (which I doubt) disregard the PS.

This episode is one of the greats. It isn't fair to judge it based on episodes that were aired after it, because it was incredible in it own time. This is the show that really sets up the unpredictability of this series, like the Buggalo scene. This was an incredible follow up to the great opener.

Brilliance, pure brilliance.
Benders songs were some of the best parts of this episode.

A fairly average episode to continue from the first. It had some good moments and did the job that it was meant to do; introduce the rest of the crew.

In actual fact, this episode is better as a serious one. They show what has become of the moon and Fry's reaction, which I actually related to somewhat. It was amusing as well, but not nearly so much as later episodes.

Hilarious. The bits involving the farmer were a bit slow, but the rest of priceless. Zoidberg, the buggy ride showing the moon landing (sort of), the magnet, Bender's rants.

Excellent start to the whole express delivery service. Introducing the rest of the employees and diving into the 31st century.

I am giving this a 5 (as you can see). A great ep with only one drawback.

Leela: 'It is beutiful, i guess i just never noticed it before...'

Well that was a fast change of heart! After spending 10min yakking about how duff the moon was!

It has great one liners though:

Bender:'Aah... come on! It's just like making love... You know... Left, up, rotate sixty-two degrees, engage rotor...'

Farmer:'This is Lulu-Belle 7'
LB7:'You-hoo!
Farmer:'Daisy-May 158-K'
DM1K:'You-hoo!'
Farmer:'And The Crushenator.'
Crushenator:'YOU... HOO...!'

What more can you ask for in a sci-fi, comedy, animation about a package delivery service?

Great second episode with a nice title, "The Series Has Landed". I like the way the first Planet Express mission is one on a familiar and close place and the strange new planets are explored later in the series. The subplot (with Amy and the keys) was good and well integrated into the main plot with Amy rescuing Fry, Bender, and Leela at the end. There were a lot of good gags such as Virtual Virtual Skeeball, the lazy guy, Fry's scream when he sees Zoidberg, and the funniest gag of the show: the guy in line (Fry: "Wow! Can I have cuts?" Guy: "Hmm... no!"). The only really bad part was with Crater Face, it went on too long.

The animation is very good in this episode, especially when they were flying to the moon.

Fry and Leela's trip on the moon, starting when they went off the tracks, was fun and unpredictable. The best part of the show is when they go into the Lunar Lander and Fry gives that speech, "The moon was like this awesome, romantic, mysterious thing, hanging up there in the sky where you could never reach it, no matter how much you wanted to" and Leela sees the reflection of Earth on Fry's helmet.

This is a great episode with numerous funny moments and some sentimental ones. I give it a 5/5.

This one's a classic. Love the whalers of the moon flume ride.

Tight, good pacing. And the last 5 minutes was excellent, from Fry's reminiscence of his perception of the moon then to Amy's deft handling of the winch.

I loved the character introductions of the first part of this episode. However, they tried to be funny on the moon by ridiculously exhaggerating Fry's character, which made some of his scenes as bad as an Adam Sandler movie. That loses a point in my book.

The second installment in the Futurama series is even better then the first. This episode had a great plot, and intoduced the rest of of the Plant Express crew. Great jokes including the whole whalers on the moon bit were great. Plus the crushanator was hilarious. Very clever writing. The only reason I gave it a four is because there are better episodes.

First of all I suscribe this:
"(I've always thought the biggest flaw of the show is there aren't enough Planet Express missions.)"

About the episode, I love Zoidberg and Amys first appearences (in fact I even like more than their personality in the rest of the series).

But the first time I watched it I thougth the ending was really bad. I didnt like Bender singing folk songs and I thought the first episode was much better.

Nowadays I like the episode. I think it was good, but at that time I was just a little confused because it was very different to the pilot episode.

But something bugged me.
Leela and Fry seeked refuge inside the moon lander. But on all Apollo missions (11 - 17, skip 13) pressurized cabin of the moon lander launched into space after mission on moon was complete to dock with command module. So only thing there for Fry and Leela to see was the legs of moon lander. I KNOW this is scifi cartoon. But it still bugged me.

Great follow-up to the pilot. We get to meet Amy (who i love) and Zoidberg who was so funny in this episode "Open your mouth. No not that mouth, the other one" and so on. "We're whalers on the moon, we carry our harpoons, but there is no whales so we tell tall tales..." funny song. And bender singing was funny too.

We also get to meet Hermes, but this quote perfectly describes my opinion of him "I have no strong feelings one way or the other."

This is another, great and funny episode, including Dr. Zoidberg, Hermes and the Asian herself, Amy Wong. Sure she may be a little clumsy but her engineering skills do pay off. As for the Lunar Theme Park, They used Moon Street USA instead of Main Street USA, now tha is one heck of a joke. Bender's weakness as we speak are magnetic objects stick it on hime and he sings folk songs. I was laughing nonstop and hysterically. Amy lost the keys in the claw machine and when she could not pick them up, she was cussing in chinese which was flattering but cute. I just don't see why Leela has rivalry issues over Amy. What an awesome show for the 1st season!

This is one of the best episodes of anything ever aired on TV, for one reason.
Whalers on the moon is the singullarly greatest song or art work of any form ever concieved!

And the implications for our own society are staggering. The whaling age and the space age were fairly close together in the scope of human history. If these people could muddle the past so bad, imagine how skewed our perceptions of the "facts" are.
Sublime.

This one has a great introductory beginning which is sort of continuation from pilot then the story is quickly moved to the moon which was a good idea for the second episode's setting. It's very funny in places, songs are great, also there's a lot of good satire contained. In the end we got Futurama's first great emotional scene in which understanding the gap between future and past is the main point. I think whole purpose of this episode was to establish Fry's understanding "the news" of the future and this episode succeeds in this. The main story takes place in Fry's head not on the moon. I personally find it great.

I feel really bad about giving an episode a 1 because I'm a huge fan of the show, and I don't think any episode deserves lower than a 3. I am only giving it a 1 because it does not deserve an 80% if so many better episodes have lower ratings. This was one of the least good episodes(since all episdoes are good) of the whole series. There are a lot less jokes than in other episodes and the story is also not as good. This episode is in my top 3 list of least favourite episodes. I give it the 1 rating only to lower it's ranking from 44/72 to something lower hopefully.

One of Bender's most quotable episodes!

"I'll build my own theme park...with black jack! And hookers!"

"Next year in Jerusalem!"

"She'll be riding six white horses when she comes - I'll kill you, Amy!"

"There she is, officer! That's the woman who programmed me to do evil!"

Farsnworth gets in a a few good ones too, including:

"Nothing will go wrong (aside) If something goes wrong, bring back the blood!"

I'm also a Disneyphile, so seeing the place get raked over Futurama-style was a kick.

One of my favorite episodes of the series, and probably the best of season one. It introduces the secondary characters so well, and it has this sweet emotional thread to it that is lacking in the mostly gag-driven first season. Fry talking about his dream of being an astronaut while Leela listens and slowly softens to what he's saying is one of my favorite moments of the series, period. Oh, and "Whalers on the Moon" is such a disgustingly catchy, hilariously bad song. And I can never get me enough of those.
