Fry becomes the emperor of a planet inhabited by liquid aliens when he inadvertently drinks the previous one. It turns out that the old emperor is still alive inside him, and wants back out.

All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns! And also, he got a racecar! Is any of this getting through to you?"

This was the first Futurama episode i ever saw, though i never watched again until i saw 'How Hermes Requesitioned His Groove Back' while flicking through channels a year later.

Looking back i can't see why i wasn't instantly hooked.

Leela:'I didn't know you watched cooking shows.'
Bender:(Embarrased)Aaaah... it wasn't cooking, it was, err... Porno! Yeah porno that's it!'

Fry:'That's the saltiest thing i ever tasted, and i once ate a huge heaping bowl of salt!'

Excellent. First Leela's shouting out 'Oh, Dear Goh' right after she implore everyone to be sensitive to Bender's feelings.

The shortlived relief of Fry's when the one setting sun was replaced by three rising sun was unexpected.

The hidden assassin trying to drink Fry was hilarious.

All the excellent jokes made up for the somewhat abrupt ending imo.

I'll see the entire series again soon, it's nice to see how the graphic and the personality of the characters changed during the series...

compared to the latest (5th season's) episode, this is a piece of art!

I cant believe this one has a higher rating than mars university. A couple good jokes but it just didnt do it for me, dont get me wrong cause every futurama ep is better than 95% of tv. I did enjoy the fry's assassin comment though: "good he got what was coming to him" fry fry fry.. :)

Actually, the first show of Futurama I saw (before getting the whole four seasons on DVD).
I enjoyed it immensely. Especially where the "painting" tries to suck up Fry with a straw. It was a funny moment and when Fry just bats it away idley as if with no concern he was about to be assisainated.

It was real good, not unbelieveable but still very high.

Fry: This is alot like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. all summer long the grasshopper collected acorns for the winter, while the octopus watched tv and mooched off his girlfriend. Then when winter came the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns... is any of this getting through?

This is a very good episode. Also one of the many episodes where Zoidberg helps save the day. Standard amount of comedy in it. Also I DWAYNE apologise for all my rudeness in my previous reviews, in certain episodes like 'How Hermes Requisitioned his Groove back' and 'Bend Her'. I want to apologise to Fox corporations, all the Futurama cast, and most importantly the viewers of Futurama (and this website). However, I'm not taking the risk of getting arrested, so I'm STILL keeping the identity of DWAYNE secret. Now back to apologising. Most of my- make that-ALL of my reviews had a sexual or bad language manner, and I was an idiot for writing them. And if anyone is reading, sorry.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

'My Three Suns' was the first wholly good Futurama episode, the humor is good, consistant and the episode goes along at a swift pace until the last five minutes or so when it does go down a gear.

One of the best episodes of the first season, for sure, but this one once again loses points for how annoying I find Fry. I do like Leela working so hard to save him, and her phone conversation with Bender ("I like you!") amuses me. Also, I love seeing how the crew deals with being stuck on a strange planet, and adapting to its society; the Trisolians are among the strangest, funniest race of aliens the show's ever introduced.

A generic season 1 episode - which is a good thing. What I liked about those episodes - and this one in particular - is that they have very exotic, sci-fi plots and yet always seem believable and down-to-earth. That's something that modern-day-Futurama struggles to do. Every new plot either seems forced and rushed or is lame social commentary. Those were good times when beloved old Fry (God, has his character deteriorated...) just travels around, does dumb things and becomes president of an alien race... and his story of the squirrel and the octopus was just comedy gold.
