Amazingly, this episode seems to be unnoticed by most Futurama fans -- but the fact is, I personally think this is CLASSIC Futurama, with great satiric humour (check out the TV-addicted aliens and then compare it to your average evil-plotting, arrogant aliens in any average space opera 50's novel) and many tiny twists and witful comments.

It's in the early episodes when Zapp's suicide missions were still funny, he's one of the most funny characters in the series and it was wise not to show him every second episode, cause all other characters are beginning to get boring...

Yet another very strong episode involving Zap Brannigan! Not his best performance, but still great. Loved the Ally Mc(N)eil moments.

Of course, the best part has to be the battle to destroy the Hubble Space Telescope.

@Heliotrope: I think that alienish guy is called "Lur", not Lerr. However, I think this episode was great. I also liked the monument beach scene (especially Bender and Zoidberg under water). But if you watch the german version, make sure you got a bucket to puke in, cause the translation and the german voices are horrible.

This episode is home to some of the funniest lines in any show, PERIOD! And of course, they're from the Zapper. "If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards. Check mate." And of course, "Stop exploding you cowards!" Just great stuff

Loved the 'Independance Day' bit at the beggining. And the really wee one that blew Fry's castle.

Another great episode. Futurama is on a good run, tweleve great episodes in a row. The beach scene was great, many funny moments. Zoidburg going for a skuttle and the alien blowing up Fry's sandcastle, hilarious. The aliens were great, plus any episode with Zap and Kif is great. Yet another must see.

A very funny episode, for the first two-thirds. Everything Zapp says is laugh-inducing. My only problem: Ally McBeal so richly deserved to be spoofed, and yet the episode of Single Female Lawyer produced by Fry et al falls flat. Still well worth repeated viewings.

Great idea, but a bit more could have been done with the crew having to make up their TV show. Then we'd have a real classic on our hands.

Leela: Why not? It's clever, it's unexpected...
Fry: But that's not why people watch TV. Clever things make people feel stupid and unexpected things make them feel scared.

One part had me laughing for ages, god knows why! When Leela wanted to marry the proffessor when doing Single Female Lawyer, and the proffessor said "I'm afraid I'll have to decline your offer of marriage because I am dying! Cough then fall over dead!" Then zoidberg goes "My god he is dead!" And then the prof checks his own pulse!! HAHA!

While going through the futurama dvds for the umpteenth time, I found myself laughing more at this episode than I remember.

So many one-liners and well setup jokes packed into on episode. Zapp is brilliant in this one.

If you ignore the overall average storyline, the individual performances and jokes more than make up for it - its become one of my favourites.

One of the best episodes from the first production season. A very simply alien-invasion plot which keeps things from being too complicated, and hilarious -a lot of which is down to Zapp Brannigan.

Such a great introduction to the Omicronians. I also like the brief flashback at the start of the episode (I am a sucker for all flashbacks, long and short), and the crew's interpretation of "Single Female Lawyer" (including Bender's theme song) is hysterical. The episode drags in some spots, sure, but overall it's one of the best of the season.
