This is one of my absolute favourites (since I can't get enough of Zap Brannigan). His stupidness really shines thru in this episodes. I mean "c'mon gurdle, hold...blorgh..."...I laughed my ass of..=)

I really love this episode - there are so many classic quotes in there...
Leela: "But these scissors arent even sharp...who could i possibly hurt?"
Zapp: "The Yarn people of Nylar 4!"

been a while since ive seen it, so the quote is probably a bit off :)

This is probably the worst episode of Futurama so far. The drawings are horrible; I don't know what has happened with the drawing crew on this particular episode, but the characters are notably badly traced, and the animations just aren't convincing - where are the marvellous 3D animations that Futurama has used us to?
The writing is also sub-par, very weak. The story is typical smarty-goes-wiry, but the dialogue is very, very weak, which is unfortunate, since the concept has a lot of potential. Zapp Brannigan as a commander of Leela's ship? Come on, even sleeping could the Futurama writers come up with something better than this. The only thing that saves the episode are some sharp remarks, the usual stuff, nothing major in that department. It seems like the team put up this episode overnight, and then David X. Cohen worked it just a little bit adding those bits of smart wit that are Futurama's trademark; but just that doesn't save the episode.
Overall, it seems the episode was "rushed out", and the lowest point on Futurama's then short career.

"What makes a man turn neutral?" "Leela, does the company that made your bra also make a girdle?" Zapp's back, which in itself is worth four points. This episode has loads of great moments - Fry and Bender playing that Star Wars-esque game, Zapp cutting a ribbon using his ship's high powered laser, the beige alert, Kif pissing Leela off, and much, much more. This episode is so amazing that even Channel 4's inept editing wasn't enough to ruin it.

'We have a conundrum. Search them for paper... And, bring me a rock.'

Great, but Zapp Brannigan is being used too much. He's been in 4 out of 15 episodes so far. Zapp's funny and all, but I don't want to see him every third episode.

Good things: Kif seemed even more pathetic than usual, which was funny. The Neutral Planet and DOOP were funny. The best part of the show was the first trial, especially the obnoxious hooting.

The animation looked a little off but not too bad. There were some well animated parts (like when DOOP got blown up).

Overall, worthy of a 5, but just barely. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could.

This is one of my favourite episodes! Zapp is great ("What makes a man turn neutral"), DOOP heaquarters are blown up, Kif finally verbalises his frustrations (a bit too much) and Leela publicly announces her romp with Zapp!

I think Zapp is a wonderful character, and this is the only episode I've seen that truly exposes his egotistical incompetence to other Futurama characters.

Bring back Futurama! Bring back Zapp!

"What makes a man turn neutral?" What made the writers come up with this idea? I love it! I wanted more Neutral Planet.

I'm not too keen on Kif's turn as a lackey who secretly enjoys lackeying, or is so far gone he can't tell the difference anymore. I like him better as a guy trapped under a buffoon but serves on out of a belief in purpose, in this case that of DOOP's.

This episode has some great stuff in it. Yes, I am a fan of the neutral humor. I also like seeing the crew on a high gravity planet. I also liked Fry taking about blowing up the planet and then eating pancakes. And Kif was great in this one. But Zapp Brannigan is only good in small doses. It's fun to see an unsuccessful guy like Fry be stupid, but it's just saddening to see such a highly regarded character so stupid because you have to wonder how the hell he got so successful in the first place. I can't believe anyone in the world of the show takes him seriously. And I know, this one wasn't very well drawn, but I guess that's not my concern, because I'd rather see something crude than some lavish Japanese anime garbage. I'd probably give this a 3 normally, but I'm in a good mood today, so it gets a 4.

Funniest episode ever.
"You could sit around in your underpants all day drinking beer!"
"Beer?"
"Underpants?"

"Woooooooooo!"

"Let me guess. He cancelled naptime?"
"No."
"He ran out of beer?"
"No."
"So he's about to kill us?"
"Uh-huh."

Awesome.

One of my favourites from season two, why didnt Leela park the space ship closer so that Bender, Fry and Zapp don't have to drag the pillows so far?

I believe it was the best she could do. The gravity pull on the ship might have caused it to fall apart.

this was a great episode, they usually are when zapp brannigan's in them.
ZAPP:"One day a man has everything, the next day he blows up a 400-billion dollar space station, the next day he has nothing. Makes you think."
KIF:"No it doesn't."
One of my favourite quotes in Futurama, it doesn't look that funny when it's written but the way it is said makes it hilarious.

This episode was good, not, brilliant, but good. The best part was the way Kif annoyed Leela with his devotion to anyone who isn't Zapp. Zapp was funny too, but not as good as he has been. I liked the yarn peoples appearence...they freaked mee out a little though.

What a way to slightly kill a brilliant Brannigan outing.
This is the third episode featuring the hilarious Zapper, and what a way to celebrate it.
Zap is the highlight of this dreadful episode, everything else is blah and mildly funny to worse.

Fry, Leela and Bender get pretty decent amounts of scene time but crappy lines.

Usually the aliens or planet inhabitants are creative and interesting but in this episode when they said the planet's inhabitants are nuetral I knew this was going to be a bad idea.

Inhabitants, plot, and character lines all suck except for Zap's. If this was a episode that didn't have Zap I would have given this episode a one or LOWER!

Thank god the next couple episodes are awsume. This is the original episode that inspired the crappy Futurama episodes.

Zap, you will see better days and episodes.

It was almost the perfect crime, but you forgot the one thing: rock crushes scissors.

The song is Everybody's Talking At Me, I think by Harry Nilsson.

To the person above who said:

Wow. You are indeed retarded. It's funny because he's a jerk, you're not actually supposed to hate him.

This is my second favorite episode in the entire series. Zapp Brannigan is such a fantastic character.

Zapp: Just a broken down hobo who's hit rock bottom.... and his commanding officer.
----------------------
Zapp: So, a plot to assassinate a weird looking alien with scissors. How very neutral of you. But everybody knows that rock beats scissors. But paper beats rock. And scissors beats paper! Kif, we have a conundrum.
Kif: *sigh*
Zapp: Search them for paper. And while you're at it, go get a rock.
------------------
And of course, all the neutral quotes.

A+ episode.
