Typical season 2 episode, very good and as "Ships Gunner" stated, the robotic graplin hook was class. Also when Nixon got that masive robot body at the end, it reminded me of an 80s toy called Transformers which is good.

Amazing. Incredible. Sorry, thinking about something else.;)
Maybe because I'm not American, I found the episode a bit awkward - but the political satire is throughly universal, and Nixon really is a worthy opponent, not to mention hilariously evil ("now if you don't mind, I'm going to inch myself over to the telephone and call the police" - "Nixon, with charisma? My God! I can rule the Universe!!"). A parody of an American president is always excellent - George W. Bush should be next. Well, maybe in 30 years time, like Nixon.;>
Amazing 3D animations and well-written episode. "Robotic Nixon" is very well conceived, in both versions. If you wanna see an entertaining episode, that poses some interesting questions (about who is really controlling your fate and at what extent your reliance in society is doubtful), this is where to begin in Futurama - on the surface, it may all seem senseless, but if you really wonder... robotic or not, there ARE evil people that don't care about our asses - ruling us from the sideways.

An interesting note: I have some friends of mine that don't really dig Futurama - but they do LOVE South Park. (I'm really the opposite, I can't stand SP's characters, and its dumb senseless humour.) However, they really enjoyed this episode; because it delivers a lot of bang and sharp dialogue. It has a certain edge that makes it... quite unique among other Futurama episodes. Check it out.

This episode was great, why has it only got 80%?
Nixon was hillarious:

Nixon:"I'd no sooner give up this body than i would my little Dog Checkers"
Checkers:{Barks}
Nixon:"SHUT UP DAMMIT!"

Brilliance, pur brilliance.

I just love the political satire in this episode. We've seen it before in The Simpsons (like "Citizen Kang"). Groening really has something to tell us about the weaknesses of the American "democracy". A very entertaining AND important episode.

"The United States is part of the world!"
"Wow! I HAVE been gone a long time!"

My God. What an awesome episode. This puts 90% of the rest of Futurama to shame. The political humor, the biting nixon and 60s jokes, the bodyless bender jokes, the cool plot, it goes on. I wish I could choose 11 as the rating.

How did people rate this a 1 and 2? This has got to be one of the best futurama episodes that's been aired thus far.

"I hear that. I spent most of my teen years loving my body... course' it was tough love, but."

I love all of the Nixon eps, he's adds a lot of humour.

After seeing this ep for like the 5th time, and loving it, I came here to see what other people thought of it. I was suprised to see an average 80% rating... There are only 2 polls that are bringing it down; a 1, and a 2... uhggg, oh well, I guess people are entitled to their opinions; even if their opinions are wrong :)

'You are entering an area adjaecent to a location, the kind of place that might contain a monster or some kind of weird mirror. These are just examples, it's usually something much better. You are now entering... THE SCARY DOOR!'

Not many things completely immobilise me with a total nerve lock of hysterical diaphramical convulsions, coupled with a critical weakness of control in certain parts of my anatomy.
But i'm proud to say that that was one of them. It gets a three just for that. The other point came from Benders flawless lifestyle.

There was lots of good political humor, but I didn't laugh a lot.

Good parts: The Apathy Voter gag, Bender's head in that racecar (good animation), Nixon's speech.

Bad parts: The ending was too predictable with all that "one vote counts" talk. Not enough side-splitting jokes.

Good, not great. 4/5

It wouldn't be a Matt Groening creation without some reference to Richard Milhouse Nixon (yep, that's where Bart's friend got his name from).

Bender's Titanium body appreciates in value when a titanium mine is caved in. Wanting to be rich, Bender pawns his body and soon is livign the life of a wealthy head.

One of the best parts is when a dog comes up to Bender's head on the street:
Bender-Hey, I'll give you 5 bucks to not do what I think you're gonna do.
*pause*
bender-Heheh, you just lost 5 bucks.

Meanwhile, the upcoming election has people in an uproar over the cloned candidates John Jackson, and Jack Johnson. However, suddenly the head of Richard Nixon joins the fray, attached to Bender's pawned body.

1) Nixon has always been evil
2)Same as number one
3)Same as numbers 2 & 3
4) They were clones of each other, not to far from dsome of the candidates of today...
5)Earth's faith in its president is blind in the future, much in the same ways America's faith in Bush is also blind.

I think Groening woke up on the wrong side of the bed when he cowrote this one. I can't remember ever having seen such angry, bitter satire. No longer do they poke fun at Nixon, now they are pi$$ing on his grave. While he makes a funny President of the World in later episodes, I think Futurama crossed the line here. It's a cartoon! Lighten up! And it's the year 3000: can we somehow escape the Baby Boomer icons of the 60's era?

It had some funny stuff, the different third parties were fairly good. I'm divided between two and three, but as I don't want to be an "enemy" I'll make it a three:)

I have to admit though using Nixon seems a bit obvious and kind of needlessly retro. I think Futurama's the best science fiction comedy ever, but the "Baby Boomer" references are sometimes a bit thick for me. I was born after Watergate so I remember this being one of the worst that way.

Being a UK resident and not old enough (or well read enough) to have any strong feelings about Nixon, his place in Futurama seems more of a fictional character to me. Yet, despite a few political jokes going over my head, the satirical election plot seemed to make a lot of sense to me. Billy West's version of his voice really makes me laugh, even though I don't know the real Nixon's voice, and Morbo's 'subtle' bias towards Nixon was a great gag.

Let's not forget Bender's story in this episode though, which really showed what a well developed character he was: the fact that he could be so condescending of everyone with a pile of money in his mouth, even though he was just a head. Also, one of my favourite ever Bender lines:

Bender: "Get a room you two!"
Man: "We're in a room!"
Bender: "In that case, lose some weight!"

Makes me laugh whenever I think about it. Brilliant.

This episode is the greatest episode of season two alongside classics like ''Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love'', and ''Anthology of Interest 1''. The brilliant political satire and supreb 3-D animation ( Richard Nixon's huge robot suit in the end) make this episode a must see. Many of the jokes were probably over most peoples' heads, like what Fry says to Leela ( after they find out Richard Nixon had been staying in the hotel Watergate),
Fry: Why would Nixon stay at the Watergate again.
Leela: I heard he is because they give a discount to people who've already been there.
This of course is reffering to back in the 70's when Nixon and a bunch of Republicans broke into the Democratic headquaters a.k.a. the hotel Watergate and find information on the party. They were caught, and it lead to Nixon's resignation, so he would'nt be impeached.
Also halarious scene in the beginning when the crew goes to that building to see all the political parties.
* Fry sees a bored looking man behind a desk with a poster over his head reading ''Party of Apathy''*
Fry:Here's a party I can get into.
Man behind desk: Not with that attitude.
Fry: Okay.Then screw it.
Man: You're in .
Fry: All right.
Man: You're out.
So to sum up the episode in two words, ''excellent episode''. Even non- Futurama fans will probably enjoy it, for its original and satirical view of polotics.

This episode had a bulk of humour. I'm suprized people have said it lacked jokes. The full story was much of the joke. One of the best Futuramas.
"Vial of PURE ANTHRAX... huh huh... for duckhunting"
I understand why some didn't like this one, though. It is far less accesable: You need to know about Nixon, political history, and current issues around the themes and jokes... That will rule out a joke here or there, or maybe all of them. I learned about politics through The Simpsons, so maybe this will expose folks to learning how halariously horifying all of this is.

Simply amazing. I'm sure Nixon is spinning in his grave, but if he really was like this-- He's one of my new heroes. (Along with "that guy" from the 80's episode. I love that guy.)

How could people give this 1s and 2s? The satire was amazing, the Bender gags were spot on (Like how he keeps a baby inside of his hatch,) and there was more than enough of Fry to keep the episode going. Even Farnsworth, who is rarely funny, was worth a few laughs arguing about his doomsday devices.

This episode was one of the best episodes of the season.Any episode with polictic must be good.My most favorite quotes were:
Nixon:I'd no sooner this body than i wuld my dog Checkers.

Checkers:*bark*

Nixon:SHUT UP DAMNIT!
But I still hate nixon.Bender can so kick nixon's ASS!If he got the chance.

Fantastic, easily one of the finest Futurama episodes. The Nixon's Head character was a stroke of genius - he should get more airtime in future episodes.

Hi - larious episode,Nixons speech at the end really topped it off and I personnaly rank it as the best episode ever, it was odd to have a former president (Albeit one as crooked and sleazy as Nixon) as the main adversary but it really paid off.

Hilarious episode.

I have a question: Early on Bender twice refers to his bodied friends as "koppenstoppers". This isn't a word used here in the UK. ...What are "koppenstoppers"?

One of my favorite episodes, along with the superhero episode, The Farnsworth Paradox, and more. Nixon was terrific.

"Ruff Ruff."
"Shut up, Dann it!"

LMAO.

And the electric guitar bit was funny too.

Come to think of it, this show is kind of funny but not so funny.
Not very much about that [Sexy Amy], she did mention something about 3rd Parties but I did not pay attention. She also got disguseted when that so called hippie ate that cheeseburger.

[SEXY AMY 4-EVER!] I'd give it a 3, why? because you can NEVER EVER HAVE TOO MUCH ABOUT AMY!!!

Man!
I hate it when Futurama comes out with some great episodes then it brings out some failure episodes.

This episode is not nearly as exciting or funny as the other episodes before.

It's funny to see Nixon as a robot and Bender's methods of getting around without his body, but that's it. There is nothing else funny in this episode.

Such a big let down. I hated Brannigan begin again and gave it a 2, but after this I think I should reconsider my rating.

But then again it's episodes like this that make you appreciate the better episodes. Such as,
Roswell that ends Well,
Parasites Lost,
Fry and the Slurm Factory,
X-mas Story,
War is the H-word,
Amazon Women in the mood,
Tale of two Santas,
Luck of the Fryrish,
Time keeps on slipping,
Anothology of interest 2,
Farnesworth Paradox,
and
3 hudred big boys.

I love this episode, especially for Billy West's Nixon - it's not how Nixon sounds, but it's exactly how you think he SHOULD sound. There's a few subtle jokes in here, but nothing that most people with a moderate knowledge of American history wouldn't know about (the Nixon/Kennedy debate, etc) - so I don't think these jokes would be over "most people's" heads. Of course, Nixon himself never broke into the Watergate hotel, so that joke doesn't really make sense, but other that that great great episode.

I like this episode. I love that so many episodes involve Richard Nixon. I also like Jack Johnson and "bitter rival" John Jackson. Anyway overall I'd rate it a B+, perhaps an A-. Also when Bender sells his body to a pawn shop. I like some lines like "I've got a plan" "I've got a better plan" and "We may as well hand my head in for the 5c deposit" "No! I wouldn't give up my friends head. Not for 5c, not for 500c!" and "My God that's what I sound like? I thought I had more of a Clark Gable quality"one more when leela says "Oh crud. I knew there was somethiobng I had to do today!" when Nixon wins the election.
