a very funny episode, i've watched it several times and i still love to see it. it's indeed much better than "that's lobstertainment". The scene where Fry said all the love things for Zoidberg's (almost) girlfriend were fantastic. Also when Bender asks Fry to do him a fever to "loose" in the 8th round.

Great episode. As said before the theme music was a nod to Star Trek.
But so was the entire episode, Its a re-write of the original series episode "amok time" where spock has to mate. He ends up fighting kirk. One of the weapons zoidberg had to choose from was from that episode as was the national anthem.

This one along with "A head in the polls" is my favorite of season 2.
Zoidberg has never been better, and that's perhaps the biggest compliment an episode could get.

"Well Fry, it's been a long time since medical school. So tell me: Disemboweling of your species, fatal or non-fatal?"

Doesn't get much better than this, except 'Parasites Lost' and 'I Roommate'.
Excellent insight to Zoidburg's character with genius one liners and great storyline.

Good points:
Zoidburg talking to Edna outside her apartment.

The jokes were great, but I thought that Zoidberg cutting off Fry's arm was a little unnecessary. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against tastelessness, but this kind of crossed a line for me, and did spoil my enjoyment of an otherwise great episode.

Funny episode involving Zoidberg. How he acted when he was going to breed was hilarious. It also showed how stupid Amy is releasing a fury Zoidberg.

When they get to Zoidberg's planet, Fry proves to always get in the wrong place again. The fight between Fry and Zoidberg was funny and having Fry get his arm cut off was funny on how he reacted to it.

A reasonable episode, but not particularly memorable compared to others...

I'm just writing this review because I don't understand how someone else previously could say that this episode is a parody of "Moulin Rouge!". How is it parodying that film?

Especially as this episode was made and broadcast in the year 2000, and "Moulin Rouge!" didn't come out until 2001...

Unless they were referring to the original 1950s "Moulin Rouge"... But who's seen that?!

I'm sorry I just could not stand this episode...There just was something about it. I thought the writing was horrible. I love futurama and this is really the only episode I can't stand. Something seemed different and werid about all the characters. Maybe its just me maybe with another viewing of it I would feel better towards this episode....Who knows?

Extremly funny especially Dr. Z, the poor guy don't have any experience about love, feelings and compasion.
Thanx to his teacher (Fry) helped Dr. Z to get his female (Edna), but the worst thing is that Dr. Z clamped Fry's arm off during Fry's opinion in the claw plakh.

This episode is good but not great. I still love to watch it though.
My favorite part: Zoidberg reattaches Fry's arm, only he puts it on the wrong way. Zoidberg decides to try again.
It cuts to the ship flying away. You hear a chop sound. Fry screams about his legs. Zoidberg does it again. But there's no scream. My guess is that Zoidberg chops Fry's head off.

MATING!!! Ahem. Good episode. It involved Zoiby wanting to have sex with Edna (Of all the stinky filthy crab monsters, you are apparently the hottest.). Edna in lingerie was hilarious! A laugh-fest from beginning to end.

There are a lot of fantastic moments in this episode and it is a lot of fun to watch Zoidberg act even more strangely. I think that this episode is by far the best out of all of the second series just because it is an episode devoted to the best crustacean on the planet, Zoidberg!!!

This episode is really funny, especially at the start where they are visiting the gym. I think that Zoidberg doesn't get enough credit on the show as he is by far the funniest (and poorest) character there!!

I wish to pass on my congrats to Matt Groening and all the amimators for making such a fabulous show and the best ever character.....Dr. Zoidberg!!!!!!!!

Amy & Leela, naked, in the steamroom! THe fight to the death was great "My fellow fish monsters, far be it for me to question your stupid society or its dumb customs, but is squeezing each others brains out with a giant nutcracker really going to solve anything?" Fry and Zoidberg were especially funny.

Sure the ending is a little odd, when Fry's head gets cut off, but it's Futurama, so you know he's going to be back to normal in the next ep.

Let's just say I'm old enough to have watched "Amok Time" when it first aired. When I heard the "Decapod National Anthem," I laughed so hard I nearly stopped breathing. Oh, and Bender asked Fry to *lose*, not "loose." Clothes and supposedly women are loose, but not winning a contest is "losing," not "loosing." I hope this helps.

This isn't my favorite Futurama episode, but it is in my top 5. Probably.

After 13 marvelous episodes of Futurama, it started to fall in comedy and idea.

I second that emotion,
Brannigan begin again,
and Head in the polls,
brought nothing new to the series, except shame.

X-mas story somewhat made up for the poor episodes, but it wasn't enough to restore my faith in the show.

I sat down to watch the episode. In the first 5 minutes you see a amazing sight of Zoidberg flipping out in a gym. I continued to watch and was pleased to know they were going to show Zoiberg's homeworld, while also adding the fact that Zoiberg was going to go to mate at his homeworld also.

Gags fly here and there.
From Amy being an idiot and loosing the bands on Zoidbergs claws, to Zoidberg's homeworld's rituals.

In a way this is the first episode that depicts REAL emition in Zoidberg and Fry actually being smart. Zoidberg and Fry have some funny scene time together. From the gladiator-ish scene to Fry whispering pick-up lines to Zoidberg so he can impress Edna.

Leela has a couple lines that are ok. Bender is the same. Even though Bender and Leela aren't in this episode that much they get multiple episodes revolving them while Zoidberg gets (I think) three. And on that note this is the best.

Great episode, funny, smart and great in animation. Great effort, if only this episode rub off on the other Zoidberg episodes, that were failures.

This episode is definitely one of my favourites and here are my reasons:

1. Zoidberg is by far the greatest Futurama character and it was interesting to see where he came from.
2. The star trek war theme as the national anthem made me laugh so hard I nearly fell off my chair
3. Edna going on about her day.
4. Fry's choice of weapon
5. "Dr.Zoiberg is my friend for a reason and that reason is" Thwack! *turns around* "You bastard!"

This episode is excellant. The death fight scene is one of the funniest scenes Ive ever seen. Fry's reaction to Zoidberg's final attack is side splitting.

Definitely one "up there" with other great TV shows/episodes.

This episode is alright, but not memorable whatsoever. There may be a few funny lines here and there, but overall, it just wasn't a good episode.

For starters, I never liked Dr. Zoidberg. I've learned to hate him after episodes like Where The Buggalo Roam, The Deep South, Lobstertainment and Futurestock.

Which is why, I keep episodes like Lobstertainment and this deep under my shelf of "movies I won't wanna watch ever again"

Dr. Zoidberg does a terrific job in this episode, and is without doubt my favourite character. Although he dilivers some unneeded stress towards the pregnant mum ("I AM A DOCTOR!"), he still manages to make for a very loveable character.

This is my second favourite episode (see my review on "THE DEEP SOUTH", review number 156), but it is still very clever.

I thought the bit where Dr. Zoidberg is sticking Fry's arm back on was hilarious.

Definitely one of the best of the series, the Spock vs Kirk fight was perhaps the best gag of the series. Dr Zoidberg takes a lot of getting used to, but in the end he's my favorite off character and this is his best episode. Much better than the Amy or Hermes heavy episodes, even the Leela based episodes.

This is one of the only episodes from the original run that I can honestly give a 1 to. Twice, I tried to watch it, and twice, I got so bored at the making love scene that I turned it off. It was totally boring, and it didn't fit Zoidberg's character at all. BOO!
