Funny episode, not top-10 but good (what Futurama ep. isn't good :)).

After reading the synopsis I was glad Hermes finally got an episode centered on him. Why haven't they done this a long time ago, instead using him only to insult Zoidberg and act all bureaucrat-like? Well, now I know: Hermes isn't funny enough to carry an episode all by himself. Luckily he wasn't the main center of the episode. What we saw about him was however interesting, and absurd. We saw what his job involves, what makes him tick and how literal he takes regulations and laws. Funny in an absurd kind of way. Who other than a bureaucrat would make his own labour camp more efficient?

Zoidberg was just hillarious, as always. Both the pokergame and the labour camp/Spa V story was totally in character for Zoidy. And he has other patients other than teh PE crew. Poor patients.

Fry, Leela and Bender was good too. Fry's appartment and locker is just like I pictured them. An owl caught in a spiderweb, LOL. Bender cheating at poker, ofcourse. Leela taking charge when Bender's disc has to be found was also expected, and it was great to see her old colleages again. That whole poker thing was just great.

Farnsworth and Amy, they where there too.

Morgan Proctor, while funny in her function as a bureaucrat, is what really pulls this episode down. Her affair with Fry, not funny. All her "Dirty boy, dirty boy" just irritating. I hope I'll never see her again. Had they kept her as a strict bureaucrat it could have been much better.

All the bureaucratism was just beyond words in all it's absurdity. A rule for everything, and a deadpan face to announce it. And the "Bureaucrat Song", it rocked, one of the highlights of the entire series until now. ROFL. That couldn't have been any better. Just too bad Zoidy didn't get to finish his song, it had potential.

Short comments. I like The beholder, waiting line outside, the Australian, Leela's old boss, the yoghurt.

I didn't care for the love affair or Morgan Proctor.

So to sum up, good work, I'll call it an 4 (remove Morgan proctors affair with Fry, and it would've been an 5)

A wonderful episode. The whole bureaucrat theme was enjoyable - especially when Fry hooked up with one of them!

I loved the song Hermes sang near the end as he filed everything away in the nick of time. One of my favorites!

I love the part where they're waiting in the que to get into the Doop Headquarters & the line moves backwards a step & the old man in front says something like, oh no not again, someone in front had a baby. That is one of the best moments in the whole of Futurama, really funny.

Not the best episode I've seen, but not a bad one either.

I don't know if I was just extremely tired or if there was a gas leak in my apartment, but when Bender finished that little medley at the end of the episode with "I am Bender, please insert girder," I was laughing so hard I seriously pulled a rib muscle.

Pure genius! From beginning to end it's a geniune classic. The climax, in which Hermes leads the cast in a musical number is the real highlight, but it only just comes before the poker game, in which we finally get to see Leela's old collegues again.

I liked this episode though perhaps not one of my favourites. I may be mistaken, but is this the episode where Fry, Bender and co sneak past a floating monster (which looks like strangely like a cacodemon) and when it wakes up it says "Please don't tell my supervisor I was sleeping"? If so, then that was a good moment. Also, when we hear that Hermes manage to reorganise the way the "holiday camp" he was at is run so that all the manual labour was done by a single Australian man. The song at the end was brilliant, quite possibly my 2nd favourite Futurama song (1st being Robot Hell). Requisition me a beat!

A funny episode, Hermes song was great and Bender when he realised that Fry and Morgan were together.
Fry:"Morgan wait! He's stuck in a loop!"
Leela's wrist thing was funny too:
"Cold, warmer, HOT HOT HOT HOT!"

"But, but, Bender need brain, for smart making!"

What are Bureaucrat's, what do they do? Nerdy people who feed on paper intravenously, dedicated to rereorganize what was already reorganized, and just generally piss people off. This is their function TODAY, where we haven't still surrender completely to a mechanized society; wonder what it'll be like in a 1000 years? Central Bureaucracy. Bingo! ;)
This episode had three different threads into it, but they all converged admirably at the very end: Hermes crisis and "re-habilitation", Fry's love affair and Bender's brains out.;) Good writing effort, for all it's worth, but I just wished that the episode concentrated a little bit more on Hermes' crisis than on Fry's dry (bad joke;) love affair with Proctor. The character wasn't sufficiently fleshed out, and, man, did it have potential (a Jamaican bureaucrat? ;). Anyhow, Herme's attempt of suicide was absolutely great - as was his song. But the episode demanded more and better scenes, as these were not enough to carry it on through.
Now for Amanda Proctor's affair.
She wasn't at lot unbearable, or even annoying, just plain flat - no insights on her past, no energy, she was just a villain to counterfeit the Express crew and bring back Hermes from his "relaxing" holiday (the holiday camp scenes were absolutely great, the Australian being an excellent cameo). She did her purpose, period. As for the affair, I didn't care much for it, but Fry's reactions were great (like covering himself with the blanket, when Bender found them out), especially after Bender's "brian removing". As for Bender, it was really interesting to see him "brainless", and his lines (actually, line ;) were really on-the-spot. Hilarious. And his scenes on the initial poker game were good, as well.
One character usually not mentioned is Hermes' wife. I think she's an excellent caricature of Jamaican females - painted all over, always with her eye on the husband's performance (and the other one on her own personal gain)...
Overall, a good episode, but not at all remarkable.

One of the best! Hilarious humor all around, a pretty good plot, and finaly a chance to prove that Hermes as a carrecter can hold up for himself (I would give him an A - )

"I downloaded his brain, everything that is Bender is right here: His thoughts, his memory, his in-your-face interface..."
"But Bender need brain.... for smart-making"

Arguebly the best quote ever.

This episode deserves a 5 for the end song alone, morgan was a very boring character but once again the stupidity of fry carried a terrible idea. A very funny episode but on the whole Hermes is simply a background character who generally isn't as funny as the other main characters.

Genius line:

Zoidberg: They said I probably shouldn't be a surgeon.
Farnsworth: They pooh-poohed my electric frankfurter.
Leela: They said I probably shouldn't fly with just one eye.
Bender: I am Bender, please insert girder.

I laughed sooooo hard, possibly the best bit of any futurama episode ever!

good episode.
lots of funny jokes and cool storyline.

"it seems clear that i'll not get inside with the rest of you, just leave me where i drop"

"gonna relax in the old jamaician way, a glass of milk and good night sleep"

leela's old boss is hilearious, my favourite charecter all times!
"oh no! what will i tell my horrible wife?!"

"...and she don't know i work, i keep my proffesional life apart from my personal life"

he also had a great line in the show's pilot:
"your job is to make sure that he will do his job weather you like it or not, and my job is to make sure you do your job weather i like it or not. which i do! VERY MUCH!" he say the last part in the funniest way i have ever heard!

Despite what others say, this is by far the best Futurama episode to date, or at least that I've seen. Zoidberg could have a bigger part, but the ending where they cut at his song is real funny. It's probably on a par with 'The Deep South' because Zoidberg *was* so good in that episode.

However, this episode kicks ass.

I loved the whole thing. I had nothing against Morgan because she wasn't supposed to be that main.

"Don't hurt him! He's my best friend!"

I laughed the hardest when Bender shoved Zoidberg out of the way and when the song started. I usually hate it when songs are involved in futurama, but that was good. Hermes needed an episode of his own, or at least half an episode. He stays in the background too often; it's the same problem with Amy, I just can't really get to like her character because she rarely does anything.

Over-all:
This and 'The Deep South' have to be my favorites.

I think this is one of the greatest episodes. Bueraucrat Morgan falls for Fry and starts having affairs with him. Out of all the women Fry has dated, Morgan is the best. Not being weird or anything but if I were him, I would of never have broke up with her. The crew shouldn't of cared what Fry and Morgan do together after hours. I wouldn't of paniced if my friend walked in while I was having sex w/ my girlfriend. I would of told him to come by later on. This is my all time favorite episode, i'm not sure why, it just is. I love the song, the idea of the australlian man working in the mines forever, the weird irony at the end, the affair, and everything in this episode, it keeps me laughing straight through. I love it.

Call me cruel, but there is almost nothing that I liked about this episode. The story isn't good, Hermes importance to the story felt almost unecessary for the story. What also makes me a little bit angry is that it's not how beauacrats go. They are not one of those people who try to be perfect, they just let you go around in circles. But there are a few good gags in this episode: The insanity the professor has, the gigantic eye ("Please don't tell my supervisor I was sleeping on the job") and the poor australian. Those are good, but not good enough for me to recommend this episode to you. If this is the first episode of "Futurama" you show someone to, you might've made a bad mistake. 'Nuff said.

I agree with #47 by Fry, #54 by Brian, #71 by Joshua, and #94 by Fry. I thought Morgan was the best thing in the whole episode. I loved her. She was very sexy. I wish they should've got her back for two more episodes, because she was so great and sexy. I just only wish for more sexy scenes with her in Fry's bedroom (For instest after she took off her glasses, then let down her hair, and finally unbuttons one of her buttons from suit) Fry and Morgan could've talk some more and take more cloths. Plus I think they could've stayed together for a few episodes, but instaed he broke up with her. All besides this it was a nice episode. Bring back MORGAN!!!

Hermes is not funny. This "Bureaucracy" you speak of is inconsiderate. Morgan Proctor's "Dirty Boy" jokes does not make me laugh either. I am a politician and not into politics but that is not the reason why I am critiquing this show. Amy on the other hand is cute. You bet that she is far more cuter than Leela? 100% all the way! I'd give it a 3 cuz I hate this episode. Not enough Amy!
