I loved it. The hippie bashing had me laughing so hard and his demise was great. To make it even better, the Zapper had some great lines "A group of super verile men scoring around the clock....Kiff, clear my schedule." I just saw the rerun, and even though I knew it was coming I still couldn't stop laughing. It's that good!

One of the greatest episodes ever.
I love any episodes with Lerr and the rest of the Omicrons in.
This was also great because Zapp and Kif were in it.
I loved the "Wingus and Dingus" bit.

This is probably the weakest of all the Season 2 episodes. It stopped being funny after the first five minutes, and a lot of the characters seemed oddly out of character here. Leela, for a start, was incredibly spiteful to the animal rights protestors, and rather stupid in the way she responded to Zapp's plan to give up an ape instead of her. And, at some points, Zapp even seemed reasonable!

Throughly excellent, this is probably the most consistent, well-devised and, yet, so cunning and devious episode on Futurama's second season.
All the things to love about Futurama are here (interactions between characters, Bender's lines, cheap future depiction, comic aliens, etc. etc.), and the ep even takes one step beyond, by making a point about the "protection" of intelligent animals from Mankind.
And, of course, the traditional mark of Futurama's intelligent humour brands the whole episode through...
- "Unless this is a nude lovin', get the hell off my property!"
- "Pfff, you can't OWN property, man."
- "Yes, I can, and that's because I'm not a penniless hippie."
...and other snippets, like Leela crashing into the billboard exactly like on the credits presentation, Taranga Leela and Phillip Fry, the Popplers songs, and the hilarious Omnicronians... my God, this episode is so dense in good stuff, that it is absolutely inexcusable if anybody misses it out. Definitely one of the best Futurama episodes ever. Grade A++.

After watching every episode multiple times (behold the power of the internet), I personally think this is the best episode ever. It doesn't have the best plot (Luck of the Fryish) or the best one-liners (Deep South), but overall this episode flows together perfectly into one sexy little beast.

There must have been something in that Hippy. This has to be the single best, laugh out loud episode ever. While there have been better episodes that had serious sides to them, nothing had me rolling like this one. Heck, if you can teach a lion to eat tofu, you can do anything.

So far, the most darkly humourous episode of the series. The death of 198 million babies, the most vicious attack on vegetarians I've ever seen, and the mere presence of the Omicrons! A keeper.

one question (wheres the prophit?) anyway this episode i watched over and over more then any other episode of futurama or any series even the simpsons. and it was nice to see bender actually caring about something for once. They then start to sell them and then sell them to Fishy Joe's, a restaurant, where they become a big hit. Protesters led by Free Waterfall Junior protest and boycott Fishy Joe's because "they're penniless hippies and are vegetarians who think that people shouldn't eat things that feel pain". Leela then picks up a poppler, which calls her "mama". The other crewmembers then find out that Popplers are talking and they also try to free the popplers. Later, while on the news, the Omicronians come to tell them that they have been eating their young and want to eat every human on Earth. Since there are not that many humans on Earth than the Popplers, they decide to eat the first to eat a Poppler, which is Leela. Zapp Brannigan and Kiff then dress up a monkey to fool the Omicronians that it is Leela, but Free Waterfall Junior defends the monkey. Right before Lurr eats Leela, the Poppler that talked to Leela, Jurr tells the people of Earth that they should eat other things, but not intelligent things. Lurr then eats Free Waterfall Junior before he leaves and he gets intoxicated from it. The episode ends with the crew eating various animals, including a dolphin who had spent all of his money on instant lottery tickets.

Didn't like this one at all -- like the Simpsons episode "Homer's Enemy", it just left a nasty taste in my mouth (no pun intended). Mind you, I'm probably the only vegetarian on the Internet... I don't mind *jokes*, it's just the "all vegetarians = scum" philosophy of this episode I hated (even Leela sneers at them, and she's supposed to be the sensible, caring one!). Personally I blame those PETA idiots in America for giving us veggies a bad name ;-)

It is indeed a very hillarious episode, and the sales pitch makes me laugh even after seeing it several times, but there is and small issue i continuesly think about.

There are some excellent gags in this episode. However, I'm not keen on the "vegetarianism=stupid" message present in most of it... considering the link between animal agriculture and climate change, I'm surprised the writers took that position.
