An interesting concept but with little substance. A reasonable episode but below par & could have been better. It was a little wierder & off the wall more like the later seasons of The Simpsons.

I liked the CGI of Bender as the car, especially the ramp jump at the end but none of the characters shined & it seemed like something was missing.

Although I did somewhat enjoy it when it first aired (after a whole summer without) but I can't stand to see this episode anymore. The flying Windows icon ghost was cute but the rest was pretty dumb. So far this is the first and only episode that I've ever taped over and have no real desire to see again.

I'd say the first fifteen minutes are fantastic, from Hermes muting Bender, to Bender's meeting with the lawyer, to the crews arrival on the planet. Even some of the stuff in the castle is funny. But for the most part, once the show switches into horror-mode, it gives up a lot of the humor. Actually, I agree with #2 up there; they don't even really try to make jokes. The first half makes it well worth a 3, though.

A pretty decent ep, by no means the best, but you could do a lot worse. It had a good twist concerning the direction the plot would take, and I love the will-reading scene, Amy's theiving from Doctor Zoidberg, and the appearance of a robotic fortune teller. The best bit, however, goes to the church-going thugs.

Highly watchable, but I couldn't rate it 5. Once Fry, Leela and Bender go off looking for the original wear-car the whole thing takes a rather confusing turn. Calculon is very odd, and was characterised much better later on in the series. And I don't know why they had to have Project Satan at first seem like some sort of charity case, before suddenly becoming a monster. It seemed more like filler-material, and would have worked a lot better if they'd just cut straight to the chase.

I'm also surprised it is rated this low. The actual score I'd give would be a 4 or maybe 3.5 but I had to give it a 5 to help it's percentage :'( !

The episode is a classic Halloween tale with Futurama twists galore. The characters seemed off, but the jokes were still evident. The plot was actually complex and the animation was simply gorgeous. One of the best episodes in this sadly mediocre season.

Humm.. it seems like viewers are divided to either really hated it or really liked it. I guess you'd have to be a geek to really enjoy this episode.

What? No Jokes? What about the reference to Scooby Doo when Prof. Farnsworth's series of mumbo jumbo explains how robot ghosts are created?

Or what about the line when Robot Villager asked "With your modern science, can you explain how a robot think and talk?" and Farnsworth replied "Yes you idiot, the circuit diagram is right here inside the backcover." "I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe".

That was definitly one of the best line ever in Futurama.

This episode was fantastic for anyone well versed enough to catch all the subtle horror movie in-jokes. Christine, Death Race 2000... Did anyone notice at all that Bender looked like The Car, from the 1977 movie? That was one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid. Tons of respect to the writers for the reference to an old, classic cult horror film!

What's with the bad reviews? I loved this episode! As for it being far fetched, the show's set in the year 3000 and involves wierd customs and alien lifeforms. Is that meant to be realistic? Come on! The jokes were very surreal, granted, but that's what makes them great! Plus, on another note, this episode was meant to be the 18th episode of season two, not an opener, so blame FOX for that cock-up.

Why does everyone expect this show to be funny all the time? The tie in to the old Wolfman movie was great. The jokes are apparently too subtle for the people that write these reviews. Again the friendship of the characters even when they are sniping at teach other gives hope that maybe in real life we could maybe do the same thing.

You know what, I liked this episode. It had a lot of creative references, especially with Project Satan, that was pretty funny. Calculon was a great bit too. I got a good vibe from this place: Nice long dinner table, quiet, well-behaved spiders, graveyard-adjacent.
I'm not sure why people are so insistent that this episode was terrible. Maybe its that some people don't get humour that is kind of dark or something.
All I know is my gut says maybe.

Good episode, had its funny moments. Pays homage to the classic Dracula, as well as the cheezy cult Classic "The Car" (which bender looks exactly like when he is a werecar btw). The parts where Fry feels left out by Bender are funny.

I liked this episode, it had many subliminal jokes mixed in with the regular verbal jokes. One comment, the binary on the wall that was later reversed and made Bender run, it translates to it is partially undefineable. I think the smily picture was the whole intent of the joke. the is the scary face that made bender run.

I think this episode is really funny, and I love watching Fry, Leela, and Bender embarking on a zany transcontinental adventure to find the original were-car. The dynamic between the three of them is so great here, and I like the quasi-emotional (totally hilarious) stuff with Fry feeling betrayed by Bender for attempting to kill Leela instead of him. So, yeah...a good episode that I don't think gets enough credit.

This isn't the best episode of all time but it's a great episode to rewatch every Halloween to get into the spirit of things.
