Amazing episode! Watching the crew inside Fry's body in homage to films like "Fantastic Voyage" and "Innerspace" was truly enjoyable. Dr. Zoidberg was incredibly funny the whole episode, and getting to see Fry and Leela 'hook up', even if for just a little while, was a treat. Perfection.

This episode shares the honor with Luck of the Fryish to have the best closing scene so far. It gave Fry so much depth that it was touching. I wouldn't dream of spoiling it for you. Very funny too, and almost a bit tragic in the end.

One of the high points of season 3. It combines a great story with creative ideas, good use of spoofs and is emotional. The story twists and turns and Dr Zoidberg really shines. The hole episode is brilliant and one of my favourates with some funny moments too.

I would give this thing a 4 just with the one great Zoidberg routine:

Zoid: Using this fiber-optic camera, I can get a look at your insides.
*Fry opens his mouth*
Zoid: Guess again.
*Fry frowns*

But of course the plot ruled the animation was spectacular, and every single joke measured at least as a rib-tickler, if not a side-splitter. A must-see for futurama fans.

A superb episode, with parodies of Fantastic Voyage and Asimov's "Foundation and Empire." It was great to see such a terrible "problem" that had to be solved simply because it seemed kind of gross. And we get to be reminded of just how shallow Bender can be with his heartfelt talks.

And we now know what's with the special sauce...

This is an amazing episode. The plot is inspired and all the characters are working together perfectly.
I especially like the opening sequence with the sandwitch at the truck stop, and how can you beat Zoidberg scraping cholestorol from fry's heart onto a cracker.
Oh, and like in Anthology 1, Leela goes on the most adorable killing sprees ever.
My only gripe with it is that it's a little hard on the "Fry Sympathisers," (not as bad though as Time Keeps on Slippin.)

This (apart from 'I Roommate') has to be my favorite Futurama Ep ever. Excellent character development, funny lines and non-stop pace all the way. Only downside was Bender's 'Abandon Ship!' line, that did get boring after a bit.

Favorite lines:

Prof.:'We are now in Fry's heart, or as it is also known, the love muscle.'
Zoidburg:'Ah, yes, where the food is digested.'

Zoidburg:'It's good cholesterol, but it spreads like bad cholesterol!'

Fry:'Your excelency, have you ever been in love?'
Worm King:'I thought i was once, but then i remembered our species reproduces with a cloud of spores.'

And Leela's choice of reading: 'True Stories of Corageous Animals'

LOL

One small problem for people obsessed by continuity. Wasn't Fry made sterile by the F-Ray in 'Fry and the Slurm Factory'?

This episode was cool. I don't know why it is number 1 here at GCEF though. It was not that good. Sure it has it's moments but for me there was just that "x" factor missing that is in some other episodes. A great episode. Why does all this stuff happen to fry? I feel for the guy... after "time keeps on slipping" and "luck of the fryish" you gotta admit that he gets a real bashing whenever he tries to persue leela. Still it was nice to see how he thinks normally since he can articulate his thoughts instead of seeming like a moron. It's a nice insight into how fry really feels and thinks.

Although a small gripe. You'd think since fry only made himself dumb that his body would still have "jazzasized muscle" tone and have a great body? One of my favourite 5 eps.

Always so sad to see Fry get so close to Leela then lose her at the very end. The bits in the "mini-express" were perfect parody and Zoidberg's "gumberculese" is the best line. Too bad Fox never made better use of this show, opting for football instead.

This episode had a cool premise and some good stuff:
- Bender exploding: "Comin' Through!"
- Scruffy -- his appearances are rare, but they're always funny.
- The reveal of Leela's apartment -- hilarious.
- Leela in lingerie and then panning up to her face -- totally funny.
- Leela in lingerie.
- Bender in pajama pants.

But...

Nothing that made me laugh really hard. There were a lot of places where it got plot-heavy and a lot of down-time between jokes. Fry's confrontation with the worms was almost boring. It's a cool idea; him travelling into his own body, but it wasn't funny and it wasn't exciting, and it wasn't really anything. Fry becoming smart/strong and seducing Leela is the indication of desperation on the part of the writers: like the Simpsons where they remove the crayon from Homer's brain and he suddenly gets smart -- it's like, "we can't think of anything funny to do with this character but what if, just for one episode, we changed him into..." Although this one was better than that simpsons, Fry's storyline just wasn't intriguing.

Still, it's a decent episode.

Not my favorite episode, although I did like it. The Fry/Leela plot was very good, but something about the worms just didn't strike me write. For some reason I pictured them differently. I would have liked to seen them either more villinous or more benign..., or more fleshed out in general.

All that being said, I thought the main thrust of the story was perfect. By the end of the story, I feel Fry had earned a chance for Leela's heart. I've been glad to see over the last few episodes that he has followed that up wonderfuly.

Dang good. Funny, touching, and I love the consistency of Leela saying "Aks." Good balance, great ep.

Sure it might've been nice to develop the worm civilization, but this is a half hour show I'm not sure they'd have time. There's a writer named Robert Reed, not the Brady Dad, who's written stories about a civilization like that. It's not in the Futurama Universe, but they've appeared in the Magazine of Fantasy & SF on occasion if you're interested in a take on it.

Probably my favorite episode of Futurama ever.

This is the shining example of how Futurama succeeded as not only a straight comedy show, but as a sitcom on par with the greats such as Cheers. Great sitcoms are not always the laugh-a-minute and do-anything-for-a-joke half hours like the Simpsons has sadly become. Great sitcoms take time to develop characters, continue ongoing plotlines, and take time out to explore the characters that they exploit for laughs so often.

The Fry/Leela plot of this episode was a wonderfully touching sidestory to the otherwise hillarious journey through Fry's body by the PE crew. By doing stories like these, it develops the characters into more then just cardboard cutouts...Fry is more now then just the stupid delivery boy in the design of Homer Simpson. He has motivation and goals of his own that make every story in the future more interesting.

It's a sad thing that FOX could not recognize this kind of quality and we are, instead, treated to more crap while this material languishes in reruns.

I challange anyone to find me a FOX show that has ended with as much heart as Fry learning to play his holophoner...

Finally, a superb episode. Loved every second of it. It would have been the best of the series if the crew had the crew been inside Fry's body the entire episode. After all, they were missing for the last section of the story, which had abruptly changed gears.

Leela: Fry, that was a beautiful though, and you said it without spitting crums at me.

I think the entire fate of the series could be described with one three world line delivered by Fry to Leela. "I love you." Yes, those three words is where you know it was all going downhill. If I say so myself, I think this is the episode where the show jumped the shark. If you're not familiar with the phrase, it basically means the point where the show reached a downhill turning point and you knew it would never be the same again. While this episode had plenty of great comedy like Zoidberg's sperm ride, his "guess again" line, and Fry's line of "Did you see that vase crash? It was all like beww beww kaplllllew". However, this unfortunately spawned emotional tripe like Fry's dog, Fry's nephew(while those episodes weren't bad, the emotional aspects did bring them down) and the god awful finale with the Robot Devil's hands. It's also why we have fan fiction on this website about Fry and Leela locked in inner struggles with themselves until they finally confess their love(I read one today that gave me feelings of nausea). Trust me, I don't watch TV to get depressed. If I want to be depressed, I'll go to school(kind of like I do five times a week anyway) or stare into oncoming traffic or go within five feet of a circle of people.

However, while these emotional stories did make me want to kill myself, it just shows how well the show is written and how the writers of the show actually remember what happened in previous episodes and combined cliffhanger stories so well. Obviously one of the best written out there.

This is in my oppinion the best episode there is. (I guess I think this coz I'm obsessed with Leela and compare myself to Fry) It's hilarious, it's witty and it's horribly tragical. I laughed for half of the time and screamed for the other half. When clever Fry got stupid I almost started crying. God, it just shows how sad life is, the universe hates all dreamers.

A brilliant homage to "Fantastic Voyage" -- a film that tripped me out as a kid -- this episode has the heart and humor that made Futurama simply the best, and least appreciated, series on television.

The humor ranges from inane -- "This place used to be a big dump" -- to biting social commentary -- "My ancestors came over on the sandwich" -- to cynical -- "you've obviously never been in love" -- to subtle -- the "Ball Room" elevator button.

This is far and away the best episode of the tragically short-lived series.

Something of note: Fry's "holop-honer" seems to be inspired by the "Visi-sonor" used by The Mule in the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.

A Visi-sonor (like the holo-phoner) can create sounds as well as images, creating an experience like watching "Fantasia".

Of course, a side effect of the Visi-sonor is that it enabled The Mule to greatly enhance his telapathic powers---he used it to enslave people psychically.

One of the top Futurama episodes that has ever been made, this episode had it all. It had a competent and interesting storyline all mixed up with Futurama's trademark yet unpredictable hilarity. It's quite amazing to see that you can heavily focus on character development in an episode, yet manage to stay funny all the way through. The ending is absolutely beautiful as well, it definitely shows up all the potential and depth that Futurama was capable of delivering. Touching and funny at the same time... how can it go wrong? This is "the" episode that got me hooked on futurama, I have never seen a tv show with this much freedom, the fact that they can make as may jokes as they want about the enviorment and politics while entertaining us with great effects, action and romance show refreshing boldness on the part of the writers, and the feelings expressed by the actors compliment this show to the perfection it is. I'm addicted now but now I find that my fix has been cancelled! Two thumbs up!

A well structured ep. Good plot, with correct and extensive use of characters. I'd suggest it is such a great ep due to the focus on the main characters, with little time spent on characters introduced for this particular story i.e. the worms (who do have some great lines "wait a minute, man!").

With references to "Fantastic Voyage", destined to be a winner for the pop-culture boffins and/or 60's sci-fi freaks.

Zoidberg is one of my favourite characters (along with Bender) and he has heaps of great lines and scenes in this ep.

Plenty for fans of all trades, but what seals this as a special episode is the final scene.

Fry having another go on the Holophone, not giving up on love and managing to conjure a flawed, basic image of the subject of his desire.

After seeing Leela in lingerie, who wouldn't be in love?

Going inside the body was so gross. But, as someone with a perverted little mind I was focusing on something else. No. 1, Fry and Leela were so close to getting their hormones calmed down by making out and I wanted to see at least them basking in the afterglow. No. 2, Too skimpy of a nightgown for Leela, though it looked like Fry was starting to drool. I blame Leela bringing up how he's changed and how much she likes him better. She ruined the fun for everyone with a perverted mind.

Dr.Zoidberg really did do good in this episode. Why I'm giving it a three though, is all because of Leela! Dangit, woman! It is wrong just to like a man because he can play the holophoner really well!
And you make out with him only in parallel universes, What If? machine stories and when he has WORMS??? You have broken plain ol' Fry's heart so many times..... ... ..........! Wow. Sorry if I exploded there for a sec, Leela really burns me up. And I just spent an hour in the Angry Dome!

More classic Futurama. Another great continuation of the everlasting Fry/Leela romance. The Journey inside Fry's body is a great sci-fi parody with Zoidberg providing comic gold as he rides around on a sperm. The play on words of Miltons paradise lost envokes a titter from all fimilar with classic literature. The Franklenstien moment at the end added to the greatness of this episopde. this message goes to all the people that have given this episode less than a four: YOU HAVE NO FEELINGS! honestly, this is one of my favourites (my favourite one is the sting), for this is when the fry-leela romance really gains importance in the series.

Its an example of an intelligent comedy. Like many have said before me, its the characters evolution emotionally what makes futurama so great and a deal deeper and so much more valuable than the simpsons. Dont get me wrong, i love the simpsons, but besides all the laughs, i think people need real stories that they can truly appreciate not just because theyre funny, but bacause they can make you feel for the characters.

Futurama has done it! Its combined both in an original story that makes you both cry and laugh out loud. Congratulations!

And to all the people who decided it should be canceled: screw you! BRING FUTURAMA BACK!!!!!

Hello sirs and madmans and females of the species,
crust up my features if i don't love this episode, i say. There are many marvellous scenes and superb artwork depicting bizarre and amusingly repulsive concepts. I love the way Fry has to get get something as 'pukatronic' as worms to be remotely attractive to Leela, and all the while he's getting buff and smart we can see his very generic innards. Makes you realise how subtle and skin-deep out attractions are, and how shallow Leela is. Also, is there anything cuter than a tiny Zoidberg 'hatching' out of an egg and those giant tweezers lifting him up by his collar?...maybe, if its Bender bedding down in a tent like a dog in the Big-foot episode. Ha. Excellent stuff all round. Sorry if my English seems poor, I'm not American, I'm English.

These worms are the cutest worms I've ever seen! Shame on those who say otherwise :P
Leela (not strikingly, even!) seems the shallow one compared to Fry. I don't really like her in this episode, but at least they made it a bit less harsh on her side. She sends Fry out of her room after he's mentioned Amy, and who can tolerate this kind of a mood killer, honestly? :D
Besides, I love it that in Futurama series, there's always hope. Telling Bender "Leela is a lost cause" and playing holophonor afterwards... The romance is killing me, in a good sense, of course. Fry became a better man with the help of worms, but he can do so without them, too. (Those who've seen Bender's Big Score, know what I mean). He's craving for Leela's happiness, but he also wants to stay himself, wants Leela to love him as he is. A friend of mine said his love seems egoistic because of this, but I think it's a most natural wish and does add depth to Fry's personality. And what causes Leela's admiration, is so superficial. Fry defends her dignity (sure, with some style), but he does so in the beginning of the episode, too. His holophonor play in the end is childish and awkward, but his feelings are the real beauty. Forgive me, I'm such a shameless shipper of Fry and Leela xD I love any episode with the two of them, The Sting is my favourite though...
Being a fan of Asimov, I also wish something like holophonor or visi-sonor really existed. I don't have much in common with Fry, except we both aren't good at expressing our true feelings...
And yes, Zoidberg is adorable in this episode ^^ If you don't want the romance (which is not overwhelming at all, as someone might think), then the humour is definitely worth your attention :D

Amazing episode. It has something for everyone in it. Want some humor? Then listen to anthing Zoidberg says. Whether he's riding a sperm or quoting a nasal decongestant commercial, you're guaranteed to laugh! Want some romance? Then enjoy seeing Fry and Leela dating for a bit, if only for a while. Could even a bit of action be packed into this episode? Oh, yes. Never again will you see the Planet Express crew on a voyage this remarkable through the bowels of Fry himself, armed with weapons, ready to shoot any worms that get in their way. Even Leela enjoys chopping up some stuff with an axe, but I won't give too much away. Fry himself cuts up parts of his brain, all because he loves Leela. I highly recommend this episode.

wow. I agree, Taint! (Eccept the part about not being much like Fry, although Ima girl, I still have my Fry moments when I'm...well just being dumb and not thinking but thats about it... my hair is RED not ORANGE! sorr my friend was bugging me... I love this ep..... (not as good as "The Sting" though) I liked Fry+Leela together, too bad it all burst at the end. If only Leela knew that Fry cut up his brain just to know who she loved! ARRRGH!!!!! You know, this ep makes Leela seem, well like the Fry of the episode (if you know what I mean) Fry was, well REALY romantic comparred to her (ignoor typos) he can't realy help the fact that he's an idiot (even if he tryed hard) but you know he seems to get more and more romantic, I mean just look at ITWGY! He may be an idiot but his heart is in the right place and his odd brain is set on romantic so Leela should just accept the fact that he IS perfect for her and there is no one who fits her standerds more then Fry (just look at BBS what with Lars, and Leela saying near the end "He was the only man I could ever love" HE WAS FRY!!!!!) jeez, he isn't realy as bad as Leela seems to think he is. srriosly! She seems to think that its kinda sad that he's the best she can do when its not. He is perfect for her!!!!! Get it though your stubborn head, Leela! sigh.

This episode is both hilarious and charming. Probably the episode with the most 'love story' basis, but it's not overpowering. There's plenty of humor and action to keep you thrilled.
I used to be SO happy when this episode would come on TV. I recorded it and watched it over and over. I was always so sad when Fry lost Leela in the end, but in most of these Fry+Leela episodes, they always leave ya with a little bit of hope at the end.
Anyways. The story here is what gets my rating. I love well-written stories in Futurama. I think it's what really gives this show it's charming appeal.

Such a hilarious, heartbreaking, brilliant episode--and the prototype for future episodes that would examine not only Fry's character, but also his relationship with Leela. And not only does this episode do wonders for Fry's likability (I consider this episode to be the point where Fry went from being this aimless, selfish, and occasionally annoying character to the lovable dope we now know)--it also utilizes the rest of the Planet Express crew in a great way. Leela comes off looking like kind of a jerk at episode's end, but Fry deciding to better himself to win her over is all kinds of wonderful. This episode has so much heart, and it paves the way for later episodes that are similarly melancholic but brilliant, bittersweet but hysterical. One of my favorites.

This episode is funny, a bit emotional all wrapped up.
So how about we get started.

The Pros:
-The part when Zoidberg heard about the nasal capilary in a commercial and saying "Soothing action..action..action..action".
I had a great laugh at that
-The part where Fry fails to stop Leela's self-esteem be lowered a bit more
-Bender's reply when the crew is
in Fry's heart.

Cons:
I've got nothing.

All in all.
I give this a 5/5.
