The original Xmas Story was a hillarious spin on the twisted holiday of the Future. It remains on of my favorite episodes. But the Tale of 2 Santa's may very well replace it.
The Tale of 2 Santa's was fast and funny. Great gags and a nice plot even though it sounded cliche. Another great Futurama song was added rivaling Hermes's own anthem. Coolio as Kwanzaa-bot was a very funny tie in with the overshadowed holiday. "I'm dreaming of a red Xmas!" The episode wasn't as violent as I though but it sure did earn a TV14. Great Xmas episode, and classic Futurama episode of all time. I hope they continue the tradition of great Xmas centered shows. A+

Only the second episode I ever gave an F to, the first, as you all know, being 'Flight To Forget'. I hate to say it, but... Fox was right in moving it. I hated Flight To Forget for being too lovey-dovey, and we just saw the other extreme end of the spectrum. Fire, buzzsaws, fine in robot fighting, but Santa probably should have toned it down a bit. But it did have some good parts, though not enough to pull it out of the F range. You had the 'Tresspassers Will Be Shot' coupled with cheery Christmas music, you had the word 'bastards' in a very weird cheery-sounding Xmas song. About it. Ah well, shrug it off and wait for the next episode, which should be better.

I don't know what happened, but these new episodes don't have that much "laugh till it hurts" effect as many of the older first season episodes. It might be that they are reserving some of the good jokes for upcoming episodes so they don't run out. This season when compared to the first/2nd season, seems to have lost much of it's comedic punch. Some of the jokes weren't funny is this episode and in fact they seem rather ill. (Leela running with the bomb and the diaper shower) I wonder what happened to the originality and intelligence of the scriptwriters? I still love Futurama and am still hopeful. Hope this helps.

I hope Bender didn't really fall to his doom at the end of the episode. I kinda liked the episode. I like John Dimaggio's Santa voice better than John Goodman's. The Mario Bros. are always there to support Bender...

A good, solid episode.
Far from perfect but enjoyable none the less and worth the wait.
I have to admit I agree with FOX for not showing it that early(Farnsworth DID use the shotgun a BIT too much for that timeslot) but then they shouldn't have a timeslot this early anyway.

Unfortunately the jokes weren't as free flowing as the best eps and the plot seemed to lack depth and went places it shouldn't have(Bender getting arrested and going to court was pretty dull). Also, while he did a great job, Coolio had absolutely no effect on the plot and seemed to just be slotted in there for the cameo. Why couldn't we see more of him? I know I sure wanted to!
But there WAS plenty to enjoy in this episode, especially the excellent song which was both funny and catchy.
I also have to agree that John DiMaggio did a great job as Santa. It sounded exactly like John Goodman's 1999 version.
In the end, Futurama needed a solid episode to attract viewers who were in in time to see it at this prime time slot and it delivered. Hopefully now FOX will, too...

Wonderful! I don't really understand why it was banned last year, but I think it did deserve a TV-14. The funniest things in the episode were Farnsworth shooting Bender with the shot gun (several times), the bird lawyer telling the lttle girl she had nothing to be afraid of and then almost pecking her, the new Christmas song, and the bike hitting the little girl. I hope the show keeps up all the good episodes like they have been doing so far. A+.

With Futurama being moved around so much because of Fox's football schedule, it was great to see it again.

Did no one feel moved & I mean EXTREMELY moved, by the last 10 seconds freezeframed of the cast huddled together after the Doctor sez "Hold me."...?
A pure post-9/11 image/reference/emotion that needed to be addressed somehow. I knew the Simpson's wouldn't really let that type of serious reality into the dysfuctional Springfield "reality". ..but this Futurama episode, I don't know what else to say. Haven't felt like that since the Peanuts kids sang in 1965. My throat tightened, I wanted to cry. I'm trying to describe it to my friends.
F'Rudolph & Frosty.
Thanks Matt & Fox.

I didn't think this episode was nearly as funny as the season premire, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the previous shows. My favorite part was the song, but because of the stupid ending, I'm rating it below average.

Why you selfish little bastards!
Do you want the kids to think that Santa is just a (what?) empty handed jerk!?

I rewound the vcr four times to hear bender's verse of the elf song. superb *delivery*! as for the rest of the ep, it was funny, but not laugh out loud funny. I don't know what some of you are talking about, it was not THAT violent. Oh, and did anyone else think Leela's "logic" was flawed?

This episode was probably one of my favorite, maybe the best episode ever (I've seen all the episodes of course)

It looked like a real tale, the song at the start was excellent and Bender was really funny.

I envoid the littles elves so much ;-))

I was looking forward to this episode for a while, and I'd have to say it met my expectations. The song was hilarious. I laughed my ass off! The episode really was great. It had so many great moments. The Santa and Bender ending was pretty cool. And also, the Neptuneans were awesome. It had just about everything you could look for in an episode of Futurama. I t was funny, it had a lot of futuristicness in it, and it was just a good time. And, we got to see Judge Whitey from "Insane In The Mainframe" again. Overall, this is why I want Futurama to have long, long, life. I was sad when I heard rumors of this being the last season. But after hearing news that there probably will be a Season 5, and that Futurama video games are on their way, I say Merry X-mas and a happy new year. Futurama rules!

Though I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped, it was still great to finally get a chance to see. I had a good laugh when Zoidberg was taking a "scented" bath in eggnog, when Fry asked why the ship wasn't moving and Leela answered "I dunno! Usually when I do stuff like this, it works!", the sign "Tresspassers will be shot", and seeing Bender join in on the holiday carnage with the Robot Santa. Also the Robot devil made a cameo appearance! Overall this was a pretty good episode, although I kind of liked the original X-mas story more (mostly due to the incident with Fry trying to get Leela a present. Hehe, that's classic) :) Happy X-Mas everyone!

This just had nothing in it. It had minimal interesting plot, very few funny jokes, and a hopeless ending. Quite simply, it was fairly boring. While there have been worse episodes (what were they thinking when they made "Bending in the Wind"?), it's a pretty bad one.

As Fry might say, "what's the dilly-o"?

After hearing about this "banned" episode for over a year, and seeing the "mature audiences only" thing at the front, I was expecting to be shocked... well, i wasn't. This didnt seem all that violent to me, or at least no more violent than a typical "treehouse of horror" episode. Yes, there were some laughs, but I agree with some of the other posters that the show has lost some of its "laugh-out-loud" quality it used to have. Maybe it's a symptom of the constant threat of preemption... I dunno... I just want this show to remind me again of why I used to find it funnier than The Simpsons on a weekly basis...

eh.
not exactly what you'd call "worth the wait". the shotgun jokes were great and zoidberg as "santa's friend jesus" was funny. ("i help those who help themselves!")probably got the parental discrescion for that joke where the kid want's a coffin for his dead relative, who's still in the room with him. i expected more from an ex-writer of "mr. show"

I'm not sure about this episode. I liked it, but I liked the first Xmas one better. I wouldn't say it's a bad episode but it doesn't really hold what the hype created about it promised. I didn't see that much which would really warrant the later timeslot, not that this is a negative thing per se.
I'd rate it good but not great. Some lines were great ("let's see who has the last ho" (about)) , the professor going wild with his rifle was neat and the story was ok.

One of the few episodes which I'd rate so low... The first christmas episode was awesome, original, and had the perfect atmosphere for this time of year, I loved it! This one was too 'whacky' for me. As far as the violence goes it certainly must be the most violent Futurama episode to date though perhaps not as much as Fox would have led us to believe. Overall I think it'd been better had they just broadcasted it last year and got it over with, then at least we'd probably had a new x-mas show this year as well.
And I see that next week there'll again be no new episode and yet another rerun instead. Why Fox does that is lightyears beyond me; why not use futurama's timeslot to broadcast the new episodes of the new season? They're there, they have them, the timeslot is free, just *show* then already, jeez...
Makes me wonder if the whole of season four will be shown with one re-run inbetween every new episode.

Well an episode not >that< funny. I suppose i havent missed too much when FOX dismissed this episode in the first place. What enlightened the whole was Bender as Santa. (Especially him combined with Prof. [I've got Alzheimer] Farnsworth) Yeah that was funny when Farnsworth shot Bender reapeatedly in the a** :))
But the rest was more than average to say at least. Unsurprisingly the bad santa lives a a castle guarded by weaponry and dogs and also these elves and their singing (i hate that, is this a some sort of broadway show or what, baahhh).
But in the end the bad santa is back in action and it is good to have him back (singing is stopped, you know what i mean ;)).
To sum it up a 3+ but nothing more is my rating for this episode. Too much predictable stuff and too few "Ahh hehe" surprises plus a quite satisfactory end (on my point of view).
A bloody christmas to all ya...*bg

I can't belive that this episode has such a low rating. It's one of the very best, it's classic, and I think it could possibly be the funniest Futurama episode of the lot! I find it almost impossible to choose between this episode and Xmas Story, they're both in my top 5 Futurama epsidoes. It was so funny when the girl got hit by the bicycle in the back, and the elf sond was class. And I loved Santas death fortress, and it was cool to see Beelzebot. This episode was packed, and it was probably the most violent Futurama episode, but it wasn't over the top. Without a doubt a 5.

So far this has been considered by several on this review list as one of the worst Futurama episodes ever. How can this be? This to me feels on par with the humor of the Simpsons' X-Files episode. The jokes just keep on coming.

The premise of Fry, Leela & Bender trying to return X-Mas to what Fry remembers (X-Mas should be a bout bringing people together, not blowing them apart), and the constant jokes that happen everywhere. From cheesy christmas song parodies to nuclear missiles getting lodged in elevators, as well as Dr Zoidberg impersonating Jesus make this one of the best episodes ever (and this is one of the first times you will hear the word 'Bastard' used in a song, and Bender's voice makes it all the more funny, as well as Santa's line' If I wasn't stuck here frozen I'd harpoon you in the eye!')

Very funny episode. It doesn't make sense that FOX was so worried about showing this. It wasn't extremely violent. The song was nice. Farnsworth's senility was hilarious as always. The plot progressed well. This was a good sequel for "Xmas Story". The ending where they all huddled together was sweetly Xmassy.

One of my all time favorite episodes. I liked the first one but I think this one was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing at some lines. The Neptunians were a riot.

"Food or shelter? Can't have both!" was one of my favorite lines along with the two other elves going up to santa's palace and when the bird lands on the fence.

"Omen?"
"Dinner!"

That made my sides hurt. I love the song (did anyone catch the I love lucy reference there?) and santa's little quip "If I wasn't stuck here in the ice/i'd harpoon ya in the eye!"

The best parts I thought were stabs at religon. Kawannza bot's book What is Kawannza and how he has been giving them out for hundreds of years. And Zoidberg Jesus has to be one of the funniest things I've seen on television in years. Just absolutely hilarious.

Although this episode seems to be getting some not-so-good reviews, I personally loved it. The mixture of the cheery joy of Christmas and the violent fear of Xmas just didn't work, but that's what made it so funny.

The cameo appearance of the lawyer were terrific, especially when the lawyer was trying to comfort the little girl and started pecking at her face, then saying "I'm sorry, I thought you was corn." I was laughing at that bit for ages, just like I did when Santa was deciding who was naughty and naughty, and all that guy did was scratch his moustache and Santa somehow declares that as naughty.

The elves song was great too, and so was Coolio as the Kwanza Bot who giving out those "What the hell is Kwanza?" books. Although the episode was mainly centred around Fry, Leela and Bender (especially Bender), a lot of the other characters were terrific in this episode, especially Farnsworth.

I still can't see how this episode got a TV-14 rating - sure, it was a little violent, but nothing that hasn't been done in PG shows like The Simpsons. Anyway, I'm giving this episode a 5. Futurama IS a comedy, and considering how much I laughed at this episode, I'd say it deserves a good score.

BUT WE GLADLY WORK FOR NOTHING

WHICH IS GOOD BECAUSE WE DON'T INTEND TO PAY

WE HAVE JUST A COUPLE HOURS TO MAKE SEVERAL BILLION GIFTS

AND THE LABOUR ISN'T EASY
THEN YOU'LL ALL WORK TRIPLE SHIFTS

YOU CAN MAKE THE JOB GO QUICKER
IF YOU TURN UP THE CONTROLS TO SUPER SPEED

ITS BACK TO WORK ON XMAS EVE
HOORAY

AND THOUGH YOUR COLD AND SORE AND UGLY
YOUR PRIDE WILL THE PAIN

LET MY HAPPY SMILE WARM YOUR HEARTS
THERE'S A TOY LODGED IN MY BRAIN

WE ARE GETTING AWFULLY TIRED
AND WE CAN'T WORK ANY FASTER

AND WE'RE VREY VERY SORRY

WHY YOU SELFISH LITTLE BASTARDS
DO YOU WANT THE KIDS TO THINK THAT SANTAS JUST A CLUMSY EMPTY HANDED JERK

THEN SHUT YOUR YAPS AND BACK TO WORK

NOWS ITS VERY NEARLY XMAS
AND WE'VE DID THE BEST WE COULD

THESE TOYS SOLDEIRS ARE POORLY PAINTED AND THERE MADE FROM INFERIOR WOOD

I SHOULD GIVE YOU ALL A BEATING
BUT I REALY HAVE TO FLY

IF I WEREN'T STUCK HERE FROZEN
I'D HARPOON YOU IN THE EYE

NOW IT'S BACK TO OUR TENDEMENTS
TO DROWN OURSELVES IN RYE

YOU DID THE BEST YOU COULD I GEUSS THAT SOME OF THESE GORILLAS ARE OKAY

i really liked this episode because the funny jokes they made me laugh a lot.the most i liked was when the proffesor said hold me that made me kind of sad because all of the emotion they put into it and that just mad me sad.this was one of favorite episodes ive seen because it also had a good plot and a very good storyline and the ending was just the best part.after the episode i learned a leason on how cristmas is about sharing and spending a lot of time with your family.best episode ever.

I dunno, i found this episode poor. It does have one of the funniest Futurama moments when Zoidberg arrives dressed as Jesus. But apart from that,it wasn't anything special.

Great Second Xmas Episode,

Loved the Elf Song.

Great Line Reads.

Mayor - How Dare you lie in front to Jesus.

And the Excutition Sequence Was sick, I mean he Counts down to 10, -8. 13, 17, 28, 0. Come on, tell me you didn't like that?

Damn you FOX for Hating Futurama.

A good episode, nothing really special (except for the elf song "we are free and fairly sober..."). Also, good job to John DiMaggio for his voice acting on Santa; I could have sworn it was John Goodman.

On a side note, I listen to the commentary on this one and it was great. By the begining of the episode, they were complaining about fox because they wouldn't let them air it origanily, but by the end. they wondered how it got on air at all.:)

This was quite a good episode i love the giant chicken hes so funny!!! Also the song was just so good!! Bender's part was excellent 'why you selfish little bastards, do you want the kids to think that Santa's just a crummy empty-handed jerk!' I also love the line, "If i werent stuck here frozen id harpoon you in the eye!" Pure comedy. As for the violence, i really thought it was no big deal. PS loved the old woman with the flamethrower and the random number generator. A great episode.

Great X-mas one!!
I think it was better than the first one cause in the first one they had on some parts the characters naked and i really dont know why they did that.
In this one (the second one)it was alot better cause they had the song and santa's fortress and cool things. My favorite parts was when Bender was about to get executed and cause the magnets he starts singing. HAHAHA!!
I tried watching the Simpsons that same night but in ten minutes it was sooooo stupid and not funny that i didnt even laugh once.
THAT'S WHY FUTURAMA IS THE FUNNIEST SHOW IN THIS GALAXY!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, here comes another boring bastard who says that this episode isn't quite as good as the first Christmas episode, but this was a pretty solid episode nonetheless.

Although the plot's premise is quite simplistic and predictable, it's filled with enough wacky jokes to make it a worthwhile watch. Notable moments would be Farnsworth shooting Bender repetitively with his shotgun, the always incompetent bird lawyer and Zoidberg's appearance as Jesus.

Whilst not as deep than many other top Futurama episodes, it has enough character and jokes to make it a good episode. Now if you excuse me, I'd like to pick my nose right now, but I fear I'll be marked off as naughty so I won't do so, after all. A good 4/5.

Teletoon never shows the X-mas episodes! I havn't seen this episode in soooooo long. I have to wait 'til christmas. The only joke I really remember was that Bender was gonna be killed by magnets when a random number count "down" timer got to zero. It was funny cuz it drew suspense as it went " 10, 63, 89, 2, 25, 76, 8 etc..

An excellent episode during a stretch of several of this type, I might add. It is definately better than the original X-Mas ep. There's Zoidberg as Jesus, a funny song with Bender calling elves selfish little bastards, and my favorite line in the entire series: HYPER-CHICKEN to little girl - "BRAGACK!! I remembered the elves song........

we are free and very sober with so many toys to build, the machines are kinda tricky, probly someone will be killed, but we gladly work for nothing, wich is good because we don't entend to pay, the elves are back to work today, horay! although your cold and sore and ugly, your pride will mask the pain, let my happy smile warm your heart, theres a toy lodged in my brain, now theres gust a couple hours and were getting really tired, why you selfish little ********. And I forgot the rest of the song but I know the rest later when i watch the episode 10000000 more times I rate 5
