I really didn't enjoy this one very much. Nibbler's character development was really silly and so was the entire episode. I'm not sure why I'm not giving it a 1-rating but I suppose there may have been some qualities that I've forgotten.

Come on, it was'nt that bad, infact it's pretty good. The beggining with the Hypno-Toad was cool. The episode started with a stream of jokes for example the cat stroking the human.

Nibbler is cool, I've always liked him & maybe the flying brains were a little over the top but on the whole it's a very entertaining episode, less Bender than usual but we don't want him stealing every episode.

I'ld say this episode is about averidge which by Futurama's standard is very good.

I love this one.

Flying Brains, Lord Nibbler ("They're all so cute!" ;)), Fry has to save the planet, and so on.

"What do you want?"
"I'm here to kick your ass!"
"Wishful thinking. We have long since evolved beyond the need for asses."

Now this was a really loaded episode. I men the pet competition scene was an instant calssic...no need to mention the PERFECT hypno-toad...i mean, exspecially this was one of the greates jokes ive ever known...the rest was like the makers were stoned all the time...plus an awesome theory of the beginning of the universe !

I thought this one was great!

In case you guys haven't realized it yet, this episode is a piss-take of the classic:
The Day the Earth Stood Still

But I guess the folks writing these scripts are a bit older...!

It was about time someone did something about Nibbler. I was getting tired of the same "incredible-edible-machine" joke.

Then, of course, there was the popular interplay between Leela and Fry.

And Fry gets to save the world again using his powers of stupidity.

The characterizations of the brains is hilarious.

One choke up, though. If the brains made people stupid by interfering with their brain waves, why do robots get affected? Unless, of course, they use a technology similar to human brains.

The beginning was hilarious, you have to admit. And the hypno-toad was great.

Not the greatest episode of the lot, but, all in all, I feel this the standard Futurama should continue to have if it wants to be as popular as Simpsons. Unfortunately, you still get the occasional episode, which loses the plot completely ("Leela's Homeworld?" and the Slurm one?). This is one of the better ones.

A different but brilliant episode. Completely crazy, loads of jokes and stupidity and absolutely hilarious. The scenes where Fry and Leela were trapped in the stories seemed to drag on a bit but overall absolutely hilarious and an unexpected ending. Well done writers, but I'm glad not EVERY episode is as crazy as this.

The Hypno Toad was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in Futurama. "And the winner is... The Hypnotoad" Then you see him staring at the guy. That sound it makes is priceless.

But no one has commented on the ending (well, maybe but I only read a couple reviews)... Excellent. I never thought fry could do something so clever.

Not the best episode i have ever seen. It seemed to be lacking... charisma? Can episodes have charisma? If so this did not have a lot of it.

It did have a lot of one liners that were FANTASTIC.

(Morbo spins on his swivel chair, loses his balance and falls over.)
Newscaster:(pleasent laugh)...You fell!(turns to camera and waves) Hi! Lots of bad things happened today, one bad thing was a train crash in New Jersey. Wanna see?'

Bender:'Fry! My heart's stopped!'
Fry:'Your a robot you don't have a heart!'
Bender:'Oh yeah, yeah. (cries out) Fry! My skin's all dry and clanky!'
Fry:'Your a robot! you're made of metal!'
Bender:'Oh... Yeah...'
(Fry walks out, Bender continues examining his body. He puts his hand where his heart would be.)
Bender:(cries out)'Fry! Fry!'

On the downside, this ep went a bit over the top. And the voice artistry for Leela being stupid, was wanting to say the least.

Come on, the hypno-toad wasn't THAT funny.

Anyway, this episode was really strange because it introduced a completely different view of Nibbler and the whole brainspawn thing was weird. A lot of things had to be explained for the plot to work (Nibblonians, brainspawns, whatever those brain waves were called). Then the very end, where no one except Fry remembers the incident, was kind of cop-outish but I guess will be important for "The Why of Fry".

Despite the plot's weirdness, this was a very funny episode. The pet show was funny, especially when Bender kept whipping Zoidberg. The showdown at the library lasted a long time but it had some good spoofs of classic novels. I liked the twist at the end with Fry writing a book.

Very good, albeit wacky, episode. I'm sure it will be important later in the series.

I didn't think this episode was all that hot.

It had its good parts:
- Fry: "People said I was dumb, but I proved them!"
- Leela translating Nibbler was funny in how extreme it was: "you go on to say..." -- totally clowning bad TV.
- Fry and the bird with the megaphone was the biggest laugh of this episode.
- The way fry hits the bookcase and they way it falls on him is very funny -- it kind of reminds me of the timing in Family Guy but it works.

But then there was the not-so-good:
- Zoidberg's dance was funny was funny but the pet show opening scene just went on too long and it ran out of steam. A lot of mediocre jokes (an afghan made of an afghan -- come on) and overused jokes: the hypno-tode, and Bender whipping Zoidberg.
- All the characters acting stupid could have been really funny, but it was just... well, stupid.
- The Nibblonians were just kind of stupid. None of that was funny. That whole part was basically exposition. If an episode needs to spend that much time to explain itself, it's either overly convoluted, or there's no real logic behind it and they have to come up with *some* kind of explanation that usually takes the form of a long-winded scene like that.
- The end, the brain trapping Fry and Leela in the different books wasn't funny. It's one of those things that might seem like a good idea when they came up with it, but it just fell flat.

I thought this was a sub-par episode. It's not bad, I'm giving it a 3 and I think that shows what a quality show Futurama is: that this episode is one of the poorer ones -- one of the problems with setting the bar that high: shows like this one disappoint.

How can someone with "Freddie" in their name hate a character voiced by Frank Welker?!

This was a good story and subliminally links with "The Why Of Fry" and to a lesser extent "Space Pilot 3000" with the Nibblonians/giant brains plot. The pet show sequence is perhaps a rather tenuous link to the rest of the episode (Nibbler's dumb...but it turns out he's smart) but it features great comedy with Bender and his 'whooping terrior' Zoidberg ("I'm not weeping! I should be weeping!"), not to mention the Hypnotoad.

There weren't too many bad points with this episode, although I'd agree that Katey Segal's approximation of a stupid Leela was pretty annoying. Also, considering how smart those brains were supposed to be, why'd they take so long to figure out how to get past that fence?! But those were pretty minor factors.

"Let's review: who was America's first president?"
"Um..."
"Uh..."
"A pickle jar?"
"Thomas Jefferson?"

this was one of the worst episodes, it was so boaring, the writing was dreadful, who ever wrote it is a dim-witted writer. This was an extremely boaring episode, not to mention the bad jokes. It was terrible, I could write better than that and i'm only in the 7th grade. Perhaps the writer was having an off day, but they didnt have to go and make a terrible episode. Im dissapionted in futurama for that episode, but I put 95% of the blame on the writer.

Suck in that gullet you curs and learn to appreciate quality - This episode shows us the very traits that make futurama one thousand times better then the crap that is usually shown on commercial TV. A story that maintains a linear plot line, over 4 seasons whilst creating a unique & crazy plot that blends a large quantity of new and existing characters. This is a story that develops whilst maintaining the cohesive & hilarious appeal that only the makers of futurama (and a small group of others) have been able to create.

Sometimes I can have 15-second conversation using lines from this episode alone.

If you didnt like this episode, hang your head in shame. Your obviously not seeing the subtle and chaotic disposition of an episode that blends the best of everything we love in futurama.

However in the words of the best character of this episode, I am the gretest and that I am leaving this website for no reason at all.

I loved this ep. For some reason I love seeing characters that are stupid (i.e. Fry, Invader Zim, Patrick Star), and I ESPECIALLY love it when the smart ones become STUPID. XD
I was kind of sad when Nibbler turned into this talking THING, though. He was soo cute as a li'l animal, and seeing him talk makes him...Well...Less cute.
But anyways...Onto the positive side. I loved how Bender was wigging out and thought he was a human. XD
And Leela being kickass as usual. ^_^ Awesome ep.

Not the best, but I love the Nibblonian episodes.

Best lines:
Leela: Like a prom dress made from carpet remnants!
Nibbler: Yes, like your prom dress.

Morbo: What is that letter that looks like a little man with a hat?
Linda: It's a "T". It goes "tuh".
Morbo: Hello little man...I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!

Twelve pages of reviews and no one caught the obvious parody of The Matrix Trilogy?

Think about it. We cannot live without brains, they cannot live without us, yet the quest of The only One who can resist them [come on now] is to destroy them.

Fry could destroy the brains just by thinking, a trump card of Neo's in the third Matrix movie.

And naturally, the connection between the moron Fry and Keanu Reeves is just... hilarious.

There, I gave a 5/5 review without even mentioning how funny the Hypno-Toad was.

[Everybody is stupid from the brains. PE crew is starring at the T.V.. Fry comes in and turns it on. The news is on;]

Morboe; [spins in chair; falls]
linda; ha ha ha ha, you fell!
[looks at camera]
Hello. Today some bad
things happened. One bad
thing was a train
crashed in New Jersey.
Wanna see?
[a bunch of wrecked
trains are piled up on
the track]
People wont be late
getting to work because
the governer lady
said; [in a deep
voice] "we're sending in
more trains."
[another train comes and
crashes into the pile;
people start trying to
board it]
Morboe; Morboe doesn't understand
his teleprompter. He
forgets what that letter
that looks like a man
with a hat is.
Linda; Thats a 't'. It makes
a 'te' sound.
Morboe; Hello little man, I WILL
DESTROY YOU!!!
Fry; Wow even the news-monster is
acting strange.

Someone mentioned this show spoofed "The matrix". While this may be somewhat true, if anything this ep spoofed TV series "Babylon 5". The grey council, telepats, vorlons and z'ha'dum are all mentioned or shown in one way or another.

Maybe that's why some people do not like it as much as other episodes. If you know the B5 story, this episode is a lot better and makes more "sense"!
