I dunno, but I thought this episode was somewhat unfunny. Zoidbergs performance was decidedly exaggerated, and there weren't any mini-sub-plots like Bender's business venture that lightened up last episode - in fact I don't remember any really great jokes. Top of the list were maybe some Zapp Brannigan lines (take me to your leader), as Benders' avarice and the Professors willingness to sacrifice his crew were just so stereotype (okay, so was Zapp, but he's just not seen as often). The Martians were a little disappointing as well, but what manages to save any mediocre episodes are the visuals - the blow up of the buggalo and Kif's camouflage reflex were brilliantly animated. Overall, an average performance, although repeated viewing might alter that either way.

The action isn't well-directed (especially at the climax) and the entire cast is spread very thin--Fry and Leela get very little to do besides look around--but I canna resist an "Amy" episode, captain! The secret of the "bead" and the "pollution" parody were pretty funny, and Zoidberg was a hoot ("Mom! Dad! Don't make me choose!"). Amy and Kif's interludes helped save another less-than-polished episode...

Maybe because now that it has been 'cancelled', I thought it was so much funnier than usual. I liked the first segment, couple of laugh-out-loud parts. Great episode!

It was a funny episode. Zoidberg was funny but they did too much with him. Kif is not a good main character -- he is much funnier reacting to what Zapp does.

Very average episode. My main problem with the episode is that it centered around secondary characters and the main characters were kinda in the background the whole time. Highlights are Zoidberg (although his joke was overdone a bit) and Farnsworth sending out Fry, Leela, and Bender because someone was likely to be killed.

"Damn you old man!"

I dunno, I liked the episode but the newer episodes don't have good plot introductions anymore. It just feels odd to start the episode with the crew knocking on the Wong family door. I laughed but i don't find the plotlines of season 4 to be that impressive. Just look at the older episodes and you'll see what i'm talking about, you won't know what the episode is about until you're halfway in, that's a good plotline (i.e. Problem with Popplers and Luck of the Fryish) I'm waiting for the 4th season to get better(except for Roswell)

I think its important for a series to focus on secondary characters once in awhile. Yeah, its funny when Bender gets drunk and breaks the law, or other such predictable behavior; but developing Kif and Amy was a nice change of pace.

I know they didn't mean it, but the "Amy Wong Kidnapped" photo looked one heck of a lot like the Daniel Pearl photo. Not the best timing.

But other than that, it was pretty good. Kinda slow in the first segment, but picked up afterwards. 3 things helped score the 4, all from Bender:
1. Fry with the "Hook on the hand! Man in the attic!" Bender: "Robot gets bored and kills Fry with a hammer!
2. Bender singing. "We got a right to pick a little fight with rustlerrrs..."
3. "Unless your family has thousands of helicopters at your disposal..." "Well, actually--" Bender: "ToolatethisismorefunBOOM!"

There's something about Mars that isn't inherently funny. I know that's a blanket statement, but the two episodes that have taken place there (this and Mars University) are, at least in my opinion, two of the weaker of the series. They both had their moments, obviously, but it took me a while to figure out why I didn't care much for them. The reason-it was a very standard plot for this episode. The "wimpy boyfriend tries to impress girlfriend's parents by being something he's not" story is almost a staple of most sit-coms. IMHO, Futurama is best when it strays far away from what normal shows do. After all, the setting has limitless potential. There should be more than the standard jokes. It is nice to see a more Kipf/Amy centric episode, though.

I laughed at a few parts, including the aliens beings parodies of Native Americans (not a racist, just found it funny!!). But here's my qualm with the episode: it's tough to base an episode around the secondary characters and expect it to be dynamite. Kif is good in moderation, not as a hero. And Amy? Well, I'm not an Amy fan. It's too trendy to be an Amy fan... and I just don't see what's so great about her.

Overall, I got a little tired of the "Kif is timid" jokes, and I never got the jokes about Fry's sight problems. There were some fantastic parts too: Bender's dynamite, Zoidberg, and the part at the end where the Martians take off with the diamond. I nearly fell of the couch laughing when the Wong's decided to bring in Zapp.

I generally like having episodes to flesh out supporting characters like Hermes, Amy and Kif, but I would have liked Fry and Leela to do more than wander around.

I personally think that this is the best episode that has been aired all season. I like it how they did an episode about Amy and Kif as a couple for once. Usually if Amy or Kif make an appearance, Kif will usually be doing something with Zapp Brannigan, and Amy will be doing som, ething with Fry, Bender or Leela. Some pros to this episode were things like, Zapp Brannigan wasn't fixated on getting Leela for once, and like I said before I like how they are starting to show more of Amy and Kif as a couple. One con to the episode I would have to say was Zoidberg. I usually find him really funny, but in this episode he wasn't. It was funny at first like when they were at the Wongs and he came down the stairs in one of thier robes with that bubble bath stuff, but they had too many of those kinds of jokes making Zoidberg seem kind of unfunny. One part I liked was when Mrs. Wong beat him on the head with a deer head. I give this episode a rating of 5.

This was a good episode, not the greatest but it definantly had enough moments to make it memorable, Hermes' joke was great as was Zapp's advice to Kif, "have sex with her parents and you are in!" was just great. It has been a funny episode. Zoigberg is the king here, how he call "Ma" and "Pa" to Amy's parents... :)

A decent episode. The focus on secondary characters (Kif, Amy) did go as smoothly as i had hoped. Kif is not a funny guy by himself. Zoidberg is one of my favorite characters and i guess him being irritating was the joke. It let us, as the viewer, feel what its like for the crew to have to put up with him. Bender's interruption of Fry's ghost story was classic. Zapp was as funny as ever,(to the chief)"take me to your leader." some funny stuff but in the end an uneventful episode

A below average episode, nowhere near as good as “Leela’s Homeworld”, that doesn’t mean the show is going down in quality though because this episode is a lot older. It had too many stupid lines and Zoidberg pretending to be part of the Wongs family got annoying. It relied heavily on the minor characters, which I guess is good every now and then, but it just didn’t seem special. My feeling after one viewing is meh, it’s still a good episode but considering this is Futurama it should have been better. I found Amy’s parents started to get annoying too, they’re best in small amounts. I also thought that the scene with them in the eye of the storm seemed long and dragged out.

Anyway, onto the good points, I really liked some of the visuals of Mars, we got to see more of the desolate, deserted Mars than we did in “Mars University”. I’ve always liked Kif, and, as usual he was pretty good in this episode. Maybe he was in it a bit too much but he was still cool, the smoking stuff was cool too. Zapp, although hardly in it had the best lines of the episode, pure gold. It was cool that the Buggalo weren’t thought up solely for this episode, we saw them as far back as the second episode “The Series Has Landed” at the farm on the Moon, but didn’t really now anything about them back then. It’s little touches like these that show how much thought has gone into the show, and makes it more enjoyable. Overall it had some good stuff, but not up to the quality I’m used to, it may get better when I watch it more, just like “Mars University”did.

I wasn't expecting to see this one for a few weeks, but thanks to the wonders of my university Hall of Residence's common room, I was lucky enough to be able to catch the UK premire (although I missed the first few minutes). After seeing the low percentage this episode got in the reviews, coupled with the facts that I haven't really enjoyed season four so far, and I don't like westerns, I wasn't expecting much from 'Where The Buggalo Roam'. Thankfully, I was proved wrong. OK, so it wasn't as great as a lot of earlier episodes, and it's far from being in my Top Ten, but this is easily the best season four episode so far.

I've always been a fan of Zapp and Kif, and although the fact that the Zapper wasn't in it much meant that the classic chemistry between the two was missing, they still had some good lines individually. I was disappointed that Zapp didn't make any reference to the time he and Leela 'met', though - they're always funny.

Kif's meekness throughout the episode was great, and seeing him dressed up in cowboy gear for the first time - and asking Mrs Wong for a neckerchief - was hilarious. Although Zoidberg's recurring joke may have been used too often, I thought he was more bearable in this episode than he's been in a while. He was certainly better here than in 'Roswell That Ends Well', and he had the episode's best line - 'I've fertilised your caviar for you..' Another funny bit in the barbeque scene was Fry's reaction to being offered salad to go with his BBQ beetle.

The Wongs were good too, especially Amy's dad's hilariously hypocritical line about the native Martians' bad grammar. Oh, and I also laughed at Bender's line about Kif having another pretty, rich girl fall in love with him. Fry's 'where?' lines were funny, in a stupid kind of way, too.

The storyline itself wasn't that amazing, and I didn't really like the native Martians and the huge diamond parts (although the peace pipe and the 'land schmand' bits got a chuckle), but overall, a slightly above average episode. 3.5/5, or, to round it up and be nice, 4.

This episode was pretty good, but I've seen better. Yeah, Amy's one of the show's best characters, and I enjoy episodes that give her a lot of spotlight, but otherwise this was a rather routine story, with too little imput from Fry. Amy's parents actually steal the show; they spout some of the funniest lines, particularly Amy's mother, and the sort-of subplot with Dr Zoidberg was funny. Hermes got a pretty good joke here too, and Zapp was great in this episode - "Please...you give me too little credit."
Above all, not a bad episode, but I personnally don't feel that this has the potential to be a classic, despite having a lot of Amy in it.

Up and down a lot. Zapp had a few funny lines - "You give me too little credit", "I'm the man with no name - Zapp Brannigan!", but he doesn't really do anything. The Zoidberg gag really started to piss me off at the end, and the final twist - "Oh look the bead is actually a giant diamond" is lousy. Best moments are Leela with the Optrex, and Bender's version of the Bonanza theme.

This story was quite good - it was straight, didn't tail off or begin wierdly (like some Simpsons). Zapp was 100% Zapp, Zodberg was 150% Zodberg, and Kiff was perfect, believing that, as the "earth" had moved, they'd made love...

"I am the man with no name - Zapp Brannigan"
"Robot gets bored and kills Fry with a hammer"
"I took the liberty of fertilising your caviar"

were some of the best lines ever.

The Kif and Amy stuff really never sat well with me. Zapp and Kiff are my fav recurring characters, but episodes like this seem to bring them (and our heroes) along for a ride that has no point. The jokes were forced, and often time on the edge of offencive with the "Martians" (i.e. native americans). Have to say this ranks right down there with Lobstertainment. How is it that Zoidy, Zapp, etc are so great as secondary characters but they can't hold their own in an episode? Maybe because the writers never give them an episode in their environment. Zoidberg shoulda been doctoring instead of making movies, and Zapp and Kiff shoulda been in space riffing on Kirk and Spock. Ah well.

Kif's character is too weak to support a full episode, and doesn't fit with Amy's character, considering her party-girl "easy" nature. Zoidberg's "I broke your TV!" was a good laugh, which is why I gave it a 2, but his lines got repetitive. The joke with the martians was conceptually funny but not executed very well. This is the only episode I saw before it was cancelled, and it didn't really inspire me to see any others.

Mars was kind of boring. Maybe because it's such a barren wasteland (What happened to the forests in "Mars University"?), or maybe the Texan and Indian satire wasn't funny. Also, there were too many recurring gags: Fry saying "Where?", Kif badly smoking, Kif thinking kissing is making love, Zoidberg being annoying, Farnsworth sending the crew along on dangerous missions.

Zapp was funny as usual. The best part was when they were at the campfire. Kif was sort of funny but his constant nervousness became trite. The native Martians weren't as weird as I thought they'd be. Although that speech the chief gave at the end made up for that.

I didn't mind having the main characters be in the background, as long as they don't do that too much.

This was a good episode but it was too boring. There were a lot of good jokes though, so I'll give it a 4.5 and round up.

Its an okay episode but the only thing that didn't give it a four or higher was that it didn't have Zapp hitting on Leela as much as the other episodes.

It was good to bring back the Amy/Kif storyline from the other two episodes and brought some of Mar's history to light. Plus with Zoidberg acting like a Wong was just plain funny, probably one the few highlights of the episode

The timings never seem to get quite right here. What on earth is Zoidberg up to? Gone insane? His act isnt motivated by anything throughout the episode. The old dynamic magic of Futurama is missing in this episode. Noone "act together" - it's just some standup comedy stunts by loners, kinda. A suprisingly uninspired episode.

I really liked this episode, because it was different from most of the others. It was entirely on a different planet, and minor characters such as Kif and the Wongs were given big roles.

I only have two complaints - one, Zapp was a bit underused, although if he had a larger role it might have meant some good stuff was cut. Secondly, the ending seems a bit stupid - if Amy doesn't care whether or not her parents like Kif, what's the point of the episode?

All in all though, a great episode.

Kif is a liutenant(pronounced 'lef-ten-ant' not 'loo-ten-ant' we invented your damned language you know!) not a character. He was originally a wimpy token sidekick. The character that he is being given does not seem 100% correct. Being spineless (literally) it seems hugely out of character for him to do anything that he did in that episode, except cry and moan and cough on an unlit cigarette.

I am also very angry that, being set on mars, there was not one 'War of the Worlds' reference, i mean come on, a yell of 'Ulla!' would have done.

Best lines:

Martian Elder:'No, we'll leave mars, it's a dump, we'll find another planet and pretend it's sacred.'

The buggalo and 'horses' were good though.

Hmm. The storyline wasn't particularly good and there were a few times when jokes seemed to be pushed out of character.

However, any episode with Zapp is guaranteed to be good and his lines were, as usual, god-like. The line about sex with parents was magnificent and his comment that "Teenagers all smoke and they seem pretty on the ball!" was one of the all time Futurama classics.

Zoidberg was funny but it seemed a little pointless for him to be doing what he was. It is understandable for him to be doing it as he is 'desperately poor' but are we supposed to assume this is the reason?

The one liners give this episode the 5* rating though. Bender's "Robot gets bored and kills Fry with a hammer!" was terrific.

Couple of things I'm confused about. One correct me if I'm wring but didn't they explain in season one that Earth Planted trees and built a college.....And wasn't there a Jungle and a waterfall?
So in this episode it's back to being Red and Barron? HUH?
Still I like the Bugaloo. They're these mutated Half Cow half beatle Things.
And a all Kiff Amy episode is not too bad. I like the last five minutes where Kiff Can't smoke and the maritians find this to be insulting.

haha..what a hell quote.. I thought this episode was quite good. I dont care that there werent sub plots or the animation wasnt brilliant or whatever other peeves people had. It was damn funny. Laugh out loud funny. They should manage that more often. Zapp was brilliant too. "My people are people of law.. and that law is...no backsies."

Ah come on, this one was fun, Kif was so un-manly though I really did want to pour salt on the little guy and serve him with beans but aside from that great. Zoidberg showing perfectly why he's desperately poor and has no friends!
Great fun

This episode was average IMO, Zoidberg and Zap were great though.

I dunno, I really don't like the Amy + Kiff episodes.

Anyone notice a BIG messup in this episode? Kiff and Amy hold hands, and Kiff does NOT have his gloves on. In a later episode, when you touch his un-gloved hand he becomes pregnant. So why didn't he become so here holding Amy's hand?

This is number two on my list(behind the seymour episode) for one reason...ZOIDBERG! Zoidberg is just plain geneous in this episode. Things such as "Don't mind if I already did", "It was only half full" "I broke your t.v." and "mom, dad, what are we going to do?" are just plain awesome. ALL HAIL ZOIDBERG!

Good episode. It was nice to see the crew visiting Amy's family. Best part was when the crew was at the Wong barbeque. Best lines:

Amy: Mom, dad. You remember Kif?

Mr Wong: This your boyfriend?! I have instant dislike of him.

Mrs Wong: He too scrawny to father grandchildren.

Amy: He's not scrawny. He's just small boned.

This was an allright episode, and Zoidberg was especially funny (although It never compared to his greatness in "Roswell that ends well") on par with Zap, and some funny little bits by Bender. However, I dont know why nobody has brought this up yet, but this epsiode was basically RIPPED from "Mission to Mars" mediocre movie with Gary Sinsie. For those of you who never seen it, (I dont particulary reccomend it) I will retell the plot in a summary fashion;
A group of Astro/Cosmonauts land on mars to investigate the emptiness of a previous colony on it. When they come in, they find one crazy guy who leads them to a volcano saying that the rest of the teammembers were killed by a huge tornado which came out of the volcano. [I cant remember much about this part, but its possible the crew had to fetch either the corpses of the dead crew or the machinery left at the site of the volcano] Ironically enough, another tornado comes out from the top and grabs a few of the crew and rips them to bits while the others dive for cover. [Also the tornado noise is identical to the one presented in this episode] After the dust clears they notice that instead of the volcano there is now a elongated face in the ground. They walk to it, and it opens up to reveal an entrance. Gary S. finds an alien in there who wants to show him where his true origins are, and blasts off into space, at the same time his friends do (In their earth space ship). Voila-here is prehaps a bigger parody then the Wizard of Oz short in Anthology of Interest 2. What is mroe irratating however is that none of the cast memebers mentioned anything about this on the commentary. Although they didnt say much in the Wizard of Oz one either. Overall a funny episode, although is a little boring, but funny in between.

Call me a moron, but I loved the ridiculousness (is that even a word??) of this episode. Sometimes, I just need a break from the intelligent comedy (the comedy that's in-your face reality - like the Simpsons, or gives us jet-pace hilarious spins on our reality at a universal level). I need to uncontrollably giggle at sheer nonsense, and Futurama provides that as well. Like this episode for instance... Where??

On collection 3 this has to be the one I've watched the least. I didn't like it very much. Kiff is at his best as a straight man for Zapp. With Zapp out for half the episode Kiff was just boring. Amy is not my favorite character either. She plays well off of Leela and in limited roles in episodes but I think mainly this is what happens when you take two bakground characters and give them an entire episode

The only thing I really liked with the lobster mooch.

I extremely disagree with the first top 3 who comment this episode and for you loser's
[adult swim] is still airing Futurama. This episode had 100% of AMY written all over it! A thrill seeker! Amy, Amy, Amy ,Amy Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy Amy Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy, Amy! Oh yeah, Kif saving her is awesome and that ransom letter, Hahahaha! I laughed so hard my cousin thought "You watch some wierd cartoons". Well, we all know it, the face off between Amy VS. Leela, Amy wins by a TKO, because she is sexy and too hot to handle and Leela is nothing but a sour grape. For all of you boys who are anti-feminists, I don't care what everyone else says, this is reality. Deal with it.

This was a very good episode. Fans are incredibly critical of it, and I'm at s loss to see why. It has everything that we love for Futurama: funny lines, moving scenes, interesting scenes, and sic-fi. My only problem with it is that e characters are more of stereotypes of themselves than themselves, but I've learned to expect that from J. Stewart Burns by now and enjoy the episode anyway.
