Was this the best episode ever? Or was I in an alternate dimension where good and funny things are actually on TV?

St. Pauli Exclusivity Principle Girl Beer? Klein's Ale (in Klein bottles no less!)? And then Benderbrau. I want my St. Pauli Exclusivity Principle Girl Beer, dang it!

This was a pretty funny episode. Dwight and Cubert are pretty disposable characters, but they worked well here. They didn't spend enough time on the beer subplot, though.

Dwight and Cubert are two of my least favorite characters... the beer-making scheme was the best part of the episode, which goes to show what happens when you only have fry, leela, and bender in for like a third of the episode.

I have to disagree with funniest episode ever. Actually I got bored of watching this episode just before dwight and cubert were going into package dilvery. This is the ONLY and hopefully ONLY Futurama episode I won't feal bad about not watching. The beer thing was funny, maybe I should have watched the whole episode. Didn't like the idea though of Dwight and Cubert that's been done too many times in different shows.

p.s. IMO funniest episodes "Fry and the Slurm Factory", "Mars University" and "When Aliens Attack"

Focusing on two VERY minor characters wasn't a good idea. Cubert and Dwight were funny at times, but too cliched. The beer subplot was much better than the main plot. The subplot was good but didn't get enough time to develop. A great episode must have Fry, Leela, and/or Bender in the main plot. The best part: The whole "Bender is pregnant with beer" joke. The worst parts: Parts with Fry, Leela, and Bender that didn't involve beer; the boring ending. This was a pretty average episode.

Certainly the best one this season, it's plot, though mainstream, was fitting for Futurama and not a recap of something old nor something outrageous.

The best part is when the space dog gets eaten by the giant Asteroid slug alien from Empire Strikes Back. Ha!

It certainly wasn't a bad episode, but I didn't think this one was especially good either. Cubert, Dwight, Hermes and Hermes' wife (I don't remember her name) all had too much time considering how well their characters were developed, and a few of the jokes got worn out. Namely, the Bender is pregnant joke and the fact that Hermes and the Professor kept making fun of the kids' business. It did have some great moments, though, with the worm, the paper gun and plenty of Bender's lines.

I liked this ep. The subplot with the Beer making thingy was great. Bender was soo proud of his baby.
Fun to see Dwight, but why didn't he have an Jamaican accent? Never really liked Cubert (you little brat!) but it was fun anyway. Reminded me of the game Paperboy (C64) where you can throw newspapers in windows and stuff.

This was an ep that allowed you to chuckle in places, but very few down and out belly laughs. Dwight and Cubert didn't have enough personallity to hold a major plot and Hermies and the Professor just didn't seem to be themselves through most of the ep. The subplot greatly helped this ep. It allowed Bender, Leela, and Fry to get along in a non-work situation which was nice to see.

One of my major disappointments is how they had a perfect situation to spoof the old video game Paperboy, and they only did it half way. I was hoping to see remote controlled cars, ramps, different color houses (for non-subscribers), and a bonus course at the end. I guess the writers thought that would be to easy...

Overall, this won't be one I'll go out of my way to see again, but I don't feel like I lost a half-hour of my life either.

A very good episode which had me laughing the whole way through. I am sure part of that was getting to see a new Futurama, but still, very enjoyable.
I loved the beer brewing subplot, especially Fry's "I hope its a lager, so I can take it to a ballgame!" line.

Ugh... Watching this episode rigth after Jurassic Bark, I think it's one of the worst epsodes I've seen yet. The Professor and Hermes seemed totally out of character being father figures. And I'm not even going to get started about Dwight and Qbert.

The only redeeming thing about this episode is the beerbrewing, but even that could have been elaborated upon to make it better. Oh well, can't expect greatness every week

I loved it! We must remember that this was supposed to be the next time we see Cubert after A Clone Of My Own, so I loved his re-introduction: "Stretch Pants. No pants. And...idiot!"

I must pose this question though: Why does Hermes son get an entire episode around him, when they still can't seem to give Hermes his own episode? And don't go thinking How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back was around him. He was in a forced labor camp for half the episode.

Great Episode. Side References were hilarious. Star Wars' Worm eating the rocket powered dog and The Little Prince(now living in a neat space suburb) among Others were Inspired. :) The brewery sub-plot was excellent. This was just average. Cubert was not a hated character for me, but he wasn't Futurama's greatest creation. Dwight was a fairly decent addition, but nothing special. And the plot was very good, but most of the jokes fell flat. Nothing note-worthy in this episode. The best part was the last bit.

I found it boring. It was like The Simpsons without the satire. The biggest thing Futurama has over The Simpsons is that it doesn't have to involve dull family plots like this one, but they went and did one anyway. Easily my least favourite Futurama episode ever - every other one has several sublime moments and a great plot, this one had none of either.

The "pregnant with beer" joke was awesome. :-)))))
I found Cubert not that funny as he was in "A Clone Of My Own", but the "strech pants, no pants... and idiot!" was quite good. :-)

I resume: Better than Crimes Of The Hot (which I rated 3.5), a little bit worse than Jurassic Bark (which I rated 5.0), makes a 4. Good episode.

Wow, what a wicked episode. I thought that Dwight and Cubert were not over or under used, and the relationship that was played out between Farnsworth and Hermes made this part of the story much funnier. We are exposed to elements of the futuristic world we have not seen before, and the two plots are very good. I thought the brewing was brilliant. Cubert annoyed the hell out of me before, but there were sides of him shown this time that were thankfully more likeable. Overall, another hilarious episode with a nice paternal touch.

I'm not sure why some of you are being so hard on this episode. Ok, yeah, the little twerps weren't the funniest, but this was a great story, as always, and had a great subplot cooking with Bender's brew. Isn't that what you all usually bitch about, no subplot?

Also, the animation was awesome in some parts, particularly when they scoop up the discarded papers of that planet.

I was only going to give it a 4, but since some of you are acting snobbish, I had to make up for the ridiculous ratings by giving it a 5.

People who think Fry or Bender have to be the focal point of any episode for it to be good are way out of line. Their subplot was great here and added to a good episode that gave us a closer look at some minor characters. Chock full of funny lines and sight gags.

What a wonderful, brilliant episode! Ive been especially looking forward to this one since the beginning of the year when the rest of the remaining episodes were listed. Seeing as this was a mid season 3 episode, I really hoped to see it in Foxs so called Season 4, but was extremely disappointed when they left it. But now the waiting is over, and Ive finally had the chance to see it, and it was well worth the wait. Ive always thought Cuberts snotty comments are great, and with the addition of Dwight, hes even better! Dwights a really good character too. Maybe this episode wasnt a serious deep episode, but it wasnt meant to be, its just a really fun episode, and one of the funniest EVER! This was packed with top jokes and one-liners. I loved the professors new half baked invention as Cubert put it. That speaking things was great, especially when Cubert spoke into it. And when Hermes was jealous of his son doing better than him, and saying about all the things Dwight still doesnt have, like that thing over there- Dr Zoidberg. And when Dwight said My manwich! just like Hermes did in The Deep South, like father like son I guess. And when Hermes said that theyll apologise to the Blob Guy with cheap words, and when Cubert met the crew again, and called Fry idiot again. And I though Professor Farnsworths cheek seeking kiss to Cubert was hilarious. And then we have the sub plot with Bender being pregnant, and his knitting and burping was so funny and being pregnant was great. There are just too many great jokes to list. Some people seem to think the sub plot was better, but I think both plots were equally strong, well done, and very funny. There was some really great animation and eye candy as well, and plenty of cool sight gags and things in the future that we hadnt seen before and were new, just like the Season One episodes. I loved the neighbourhood floating in space; it was really great eye candy, interesting and cool. And the animation of the net picking up the dumped papers on the moon was awesome. And the flying tricycle type thing Cubert and Dwight built was nicely animated, and of course the red Planet Express ship. It was cool to see more of the blob guy again, as well as his family. And as this was an older Season 3 episode, I expect that was the reason why there wasnt any of the wackiness like it the previous two Season 4 episodes, which was a good thing. Sure the episode isnt the very best ever, but its extremely good, and definitely one of my favourites, and it achieves its aims of being a fun, light episode, while remaining interesting and very funny at the same time, with some eye candy as well. And I liked the way it used two minor characters to focus on, and give them a chance to shine. I like variety, and it worked very well. I hope to see more of Cubert and Dwight in the remaining episodes, lets hope they make another appearance.

The route of all Evil was just shown on Sky One and after reading the mixed reviews for this episode from American viewers, i wasn't expecting much. But after seeing this wonderful episode i have to say "ARE YOU NUTS!" this episode is brilliant.
The story works so well becasue it isn't one of those high concept, extreme sci-fi episodes(not that there's anything wrong with that), but this episode provides a welcome change of pace similar to I Roommate. The characters work so well, especially the hilarious parental relationships Hermes and the Proffesor have with Dwight and Cubert. I loved the blink-and-you'll-miss-it tribute to The Empire Strikes Back, and the brilliant Beer Brewing side story. This episode is full of wonderful character moments, some great CGI (the newpaper net), and some detailed background jokes (a women impatiently checking her watch whilst in the que for a suicide booth) that really give the 31st Century setting a level of reality. After only one veiwing this has become one of my favourite episodes ever!

Definitely an underrated episode. Favorite part is when Dwight and Cubert run in begging for help, "We screwed up!" - the way the professor and Hermes look at each other and start guffawing with delight is hilarious. And then, "Ohhhhh...."

I'm afraid I thought this was a poor episode by Futurama standards.

First of all, the main plot was ridiculous. I find it very hard to believe that, unless things have changed a lot by the year 3000, the kids would be THAT successful. I also found the choice of company very boring - any show could do a paper route, couldn't they do something unusual?

The subplot was funny, with Bender's pregnancy, but it was quite pointless. They decide to brew beer (seemingly for no reason), the brew beer, end of story.

Also, the characters seemed a little off. Leela was slightly out of character, and Farnsworth was far too smart and tough. Dwight was quite boring also.

However, I did like some things about this episode. The "loyal dregs", a rare major role for Hermes, the one Zoidberg joke, and an appearance by LaBarbara who I really like for some reason. Still, this episode was quite dissapointing.

THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST FUTURAMA EPISODE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

FULL.
STOP.

Sorry about the large type, but it was an important statement. Not only was the plot hysterical, but the sub-plot was hysterical, the one-liners were hysterical and it showed so much of home life in the 31st century.

Best Lines:

Bender:'We're makin' beer, i'm the brewery!'

Fry:'Hey! I am... doesn't!' (after being called an idiot by Cubert.)

Best Ideas:

That, 'Exempt From Tax'stamp followed by the 'Void' stamp.
The Star Wars worm that eats the dog.
The explanation as to why the decal maes the ship go faster ('I'm twelve' that is).
The slogan on Benderbrau: 'Let's Get Drunk!'

I'd have given this a 7 if it were possible, but it's not...

Bugger...

I think this is a very poor episode. Hermes and the professor as fathers were too much out of character and I dont like Dwight and Cubert anyway. The whole father-son-thing somehow reminded me more of a bad Simpsons episode than a Futurama story.
Also, I think that Bender being pregnant was very silly.

Anyway, I found it very funny when Dwight cried "my manwich", just like Hermes did. This one and some other good jokes are what keeps me from giving this episode a 1 rating.

I just saw this for the first time ever on the season 3 DVD... Since I live in the States I had to get a multi-reghion DVD player to get season 3 :).

I'm not sure this deserves the 72% it's getting since I thought it was pretty funny. A 3.5/5 is good for it but since I can't do that 4/5 is what I'll do.

I did like Bender pregnant, but the shows writers should have kept kids in The Simpsons. They just didn't work in this show.

Not funny. Dwight and Cubert are very irritating and boring characters. (Were they not allowed to spell Cubert's name "Q-Bert" because of the arcade game character with that name? Is it even a reference to that arcade game?) I'm not sad they delayed this episode for so long before finally airing it. I notice "A Leela of Her Own" (an even worse episode) was also delayed for a long time--were the writers trying to fix up the episodes (rewriting lines etc.) so they wouldn't be utterly dreadful, or what?

It was good, not great. The beer sub-plot made it better than average and Zoidberg's line "Hello" cracked me up. Also The Empire Strikes Back monster was funny and of course Scruffy. But one thing that bugged me was that Cubert said that the ship would go faster with the decals, but in A Clone of my Own he knew that the ship doesn't move, it moves the universe. I hope someone got fired for that one...

This really isn't as bad as everyone says it is.

The main plot was weak, but I adored the whole "Bender pregnant with beer" thing, with gender assignment (lager= male, ale=female, geddit?), lullabies (Hush little brewski, don't you leak, daddy's gonna drink for at least a week...) and the little beer cozy Bender was knitting. Overall, a solid episode.

Mainly, because I work at one of about five "Klein's Supermarkets," which are isolated to a single county more or less in Maryland.

What this episode did best was one-liners.John Zoidberg and Scruffy are best left to lean in jokes where they shine. Although Dwight and Cubert were not the funniest characters to focus on, episodes featuring Fry,Leela, and Bender can tend to overwork themselves by trying to hard. Having the three main characters involved in a clever (not to mention extremely funny)subplot was a nice way of giving them a break. References to 'The Little Prince' and 'Empire' were also welcome to break up the monotony of the kids' whining. A rewatchable episode, but only a handfull of times.

From the very start of the episode, the comedy level here is through the roof and it's nice to see for once Cubert & Dwight get the spotlight they deserve. This episode I would say has the biggest rapid-fire delivery regarding comedy and every joke here doesn't miss. From Fry's stupidity ("No I'm... doesn't!") to the usage of the voice modulator ("Good news, everyone! I'm a horse's butt!" and "Dogdoo 8"), to the Little Prince and The Empire Strikes Back references and of course, Bender becoming a "father" to brewery had me in multiple stitches. It of course got even better when their job was in jeopardy and they needed their fathers to take care of the rest of business.

Season 3 was where the series slowly started its incline and The Route of All Evil is no slouch. It's easily one of the best comedy-oriented episodes of the Season and a highlight. Dan Vebber just might be Futurama's John Swartzwelder counterpart.

9/10
