Farnsworth's attempt to breed a race of atomic supermen that can defeat the Harlem Globetrotters creates a disturbance in time, causing it to skip forwards erratically.

This was an ok episode. The main problem I had with it was that it was pretty much the same joke the whole time. And it somehow lacked the atmosphere of the earlier seasons, something that was unfortunatly common in the third season.

One of my top 3 favourite episodes. It has a high pace, which is rather uncommon for Futurama, but welcome for a few episodes nevertheless. The marriage scene was hilarious. "Divorced!". Though it skipped a lot, it kept the jokes story related and the ending was one of thse "awww" ones.

This episode is up there with Anthology of Interest I and the like. The plot does not make sense, but thats why its so funny. There are many good lines in this episode such as `showboating algebra.` Zoidburg is great in this episode as well, but then some things never change.

It was very original, fast paced plot, some good jokes, and a very 'aaaaw' ending. My main beef with the episode was that it became a bit predictable with the time skips.

An unusual episode which shows the potential of how much scope Futurama can deliver. A creative idea which works better in some places than others, the marriage scene was a good example. It ended too quickly but I'll forgive it due to the plot. I'm not very familiar with the Globetroters which if I had have been, I may have enjoyed this episode even more.

It did lack the atmosphere of earlyer episodes but it was also more inavitive, to conclude I think it's above averidge and better the more times you see it.

I prefer to pretend that this one doesn't exist. Sure, it was funny, as the show always is, but Bender was way out of character and the Globetrotters are best left to the court. The group of mutants that Farnsworth creates weren't all that interesting, and their characters weren't even developed much.

The skipping around through time could have been funny, but it got old really quickly.

I thought this was a pretty good episode. It was cool how Fry and Leela hooked up, or should I say got hitched, but then it all came crashing down. Even so it was good. Also, the episode left the time period in the year 3000 and made it's transaction into 3002. I give it 5 points.

best ep ever, this has everything, some of the best jokes ever, really fast pace adn a great story.

This is the best use of time travel i've ever seen in any sf show. Bender as a globe trotter fan is brilliant. The challenge of th GT to earth is also briliant, i could keep watching this ep over and over.

Another of Season 3's elite episodes. There are times when this is so dazzling it seems almost hypnotic! The Globetrotters are so cool, and their lines and indeed various appearences throughout the episode are done with quality timing. The time skips are well done too - they give the episode a very original format and are very funny. The ground grew - Dr Zoidberg, Amy and Hermes - all get a memorable line here each.
Poor Fry loses out at the end, despite being so wonderful...this episode ends on a bit of a downer, but to a great effect. The whistling Bender gives at the last moment is quite chilling, for some reason, and I loved it for that!

There were a lot of likes and dislikes in this epesode. First, what I didn't like about this epesode was the fact that they skipped through time.. but that was the plot. I can't put a disagreement to that. The whole Globetrotter thing did not catch my attention either. What DID catch my attention was when Fry kept on trying to impress Leela. That was the only part of the epesode I liked. I couldn't stop thinking about the ending...In fact, I am STILL thinking about it. It was an OK epesode.

One of the sadder episodes in the series, and a rather thin plot. Fry was never so dogged in his feeling for Leela, which lowered the score. The time skips became predictable, and could have been funnier by not having them. EXAMPLE: "Now to begin the long and tedious task of attaching the laser to the ship" (5 second interval) "Oh dammit, we'll just have to do it for ourselves."

Bender attempting to be a Globetrotter was a great add in. When he said "I too know what it's like to have a dream I'll never acheive." and walked away whistling "Sweet Georgia Brown" ,it was perfect. Fry's love note to Leela in the sky being imploded was depressing, and when Bender whistled "Sweet Georgia Brown" again, I stood up and clapped. The ending was the best part and was beautifully crafted, although I can't say the same for the rest of the episode. All in all, not an episode that's directed on comedy, plot was the main focus. A solid 3.

I thought this was a great episode - the time slips were well used to advance a pretty fast paced plot, and it was good it finished on a sad note since I really felt sorry for Fry at the end.

To all those who say Futurama eps shouldn't finish like this, I say a few should since it adds depths to the characters.

This episode is one of my all time favorites, in part for the Fry-Leela sub plot.

this episode was so-so in my book as far as plot and funny ness goes. the globtrodders were pointless, skips were funny then not, fry trying to get leela to GO ON ONE DATE was a nice touch. i still don't get how she wouldn't even go on one freaken date with him, he is the only person who ever TRULY liked HER so it makes no sense to me, i will leave that to the boards to discuss.

now as to why i gave this thing a 1, the ending. Could they make it sadder? how about haveing a small puppie die, wait, already done! i mean really, that ending was just plain WRONG hell, give me the age old moment of awkward silence broken by light chat that revels nothing and the characters go on with their lives.

liked the 3D effects on the note though, they could have seriously done better than this. if this ending pushed the envolope, the puppy one crossed the line. both of them are so damn sad!

There were some really good bits in this ep, but lots of it let it down. The time slip jokes were good the first few times, but became painfully obvious after a while. When a character in a comedy show says "I'll never, ever, ever do that", you just know what they're going to cut to.

I realise that time skips are pretty complicated, but it seemed that the rules of them changed throughout the episode - sometimes things go on as normal, other times the crew apparently stand in the same spot for hours.

However, despite my complaints, this was a really funny show with a great ending, so I'm still giving it a 4.

Had some cute stuff. I think it was one of the few episodes to reference Fry & Amy's relationship.

"What did I do to win her over?"

Hermes "Maybe you're a fantastic lover."

Amy "No that's not it" then she looks sheepish.

Sci-Fiction has a story in their archives from the 70s with a similar time skipping theme to this ep. It's called "A thousand cuts" or some such. Also if you ever want to read anything by me check out www.bewilderingstories.com.

Hmmm, this one seems underated to me. Should be 90% and way above, but well... ;-) Yeah, it's a bit packed, and the bender-wants-to-be-a-globetrotter-thing didn't live up to the rest of the episode. I love it, it has lotsa Farnsworth and the Fry/Leela sub-plot is one of those "*sniff, sigh*" moments again. And the absurdity of the plot can compete with the Athologie Of Interest and (recently) the Farnsworht Parabox.
An alltime fav! Greetings from Germany to all admirers of this lovely piece of TV.

Although I've only seen a few, this was probably the best episode I've seen so far. The whole idea of the globetrotters having there own society/world was funny, but the major part of this episode was the ending. Just saw this for the first time on DVD. Hilarious.
Clever story, too. Sure, it makes no sense, but it IS clever.
For pace alone, this has to be one of my all-time faves. It has enough plot for another 22 mins. In fact, it feels like it was a double episode.
Put that together with the fact that it has some brilliant gags, and a wonderful romantic sub-plot and you've got a classic.

At 84% this is probably the most underappreciated episode of the lot. If any one episode validates the potential for ridiculous comedy that science fiction can provide, BAM! this kicks it up a notch... AND THEN goes above and beyond to give Fry's relationship new depth. A FLIGHT TO REMEMBER, PARASITES LOST, this one, TEENAGE MUTANT LEELA HURDLES and eventually THE DEVIL'S HANDS... in 4 short seasons provides the greatest animated romance ever(though the later seasons of DARIA featuring Tom come as a very close second).
I never thought any guest spot could match the use of MLB's best players on the Simpsons, but then we get the Globetrotters here... fun on a bun.

Who let those killjoys post on the first page? "It was so predictable", "the only good thing was seeing Amy's top". My god, with comments like that it boggles the mind that you have the intelligence to comprehend the subtly and cleverness of this episode.

The comment about Amys top really reflects the reality and astuteness of these detractors.

This episode is in my top 3 of all time greats. Its an episode that I normally show futurama haters which to date has not ceased converting the unconvertible.

This episode blends incredible jokes, heart wrenching sadness, a long running linear plot (Lela/Fry romance) whilst maintaining that trademark Futurama craziness. The plot is unique and hilarious. The way that small clips of music lent to creating an ambiance that has rarely been seen, even in a futurama episode. (i.e. Opening sequence of the glob-trotters leaving their space ship).

This is indeed a first-rate Futurama episode.

I think that this episode is one of the best Futurama has to offer. Its use of dramatic irony and pathos rivaled Shakespeare's in my opinion. It showed the unfair nature of the Universe, the impartiality of circumstance and fate, and among other things, the fact that even though love might be meant to be, it is doomed from the outset by circumstances outside of a person's control and foresight.

The end of the episode ended on such a potent down note that it was difficult to remember that it was a Matt Groening cartoon. I think that it was specifically meant to expand the scope of the show, to make it not only a quick witty animated sitcom, but a platform for exploring and portraying deep philisophical and socially significant metaphysical meaning.

I wouldn't say this about any other of the episodes, although I like them very much. But this episode is an important one in that it probes deeper into the mysteries and complexities of life than any other.

It's surprising this one isn't rated higher.Brilliantly written, although it's true that a lot of it revolves around the one trick joke of the time warping back and forth.I loved the actual emotion involved with Fry along with Bender's surprisingly touching desire to be a Globetrotter. This legitimate emotional content actually works here, just as the phony sentimental content in a few of the other episodes really doesn't work.Bravo to the writers on this one.

This episode undoubtly wins an award for the most original storyline featured in a TV show. The time skip element was both clever and funny (I still have no clue about that nude conga line part yet :D), it helped keeping the episode's pacing really high whilst not confusing the listener at the same time. Have you actually seen a show that goes 2 years ahead in only ONE 24-minute episode? That was a stroke of genius.

As for the plot itself... it contained many funny moments. The introduction of Ethan Bubblegum Tate was nicely made, he had many hilarious lines through the episode. It also had some clever moments between Fry and Leela such as their sudden wedding and divorce (all in only 1 minute!) and it had one of the most haunting and depressing ending sequences ever seen in Futurama or any show (not that it was a bad thing, it was awesome actually). It actually caught me off guard.

This has the makings of a great episode and it does succeed in almost every way. Great stuff.

The ending really made me mad!
Fry moved the stars to write Leela a love note, and, like everything else that connects Fry and Leela romantically (that is in space), it gets sucked into a black hole! (that heart shaped nebula in "A Flight to Remember" was that other thing)

This is one of my top favs too. Zoidberg was so funny " You all have Zoidberg!!!" plus the professor saying the smartest people in the world are dunkers! The story line is made really clever, stringing so many jokes along together in contrast to the jerky time overlaps.

Best part is the sickly the saddest, how Fry attempt is blasted into oblivion.

This episode is easily one of my favorites. The premise of time-skipping allows for many jokes that could never be done on any other show, even if the joke is repeated many times.

Also, the ending is priceless and makes me tear up.

This is one my personal favorite episodes of my favorite show.
A funny episode, atleast through most of it. But what really makes this episode is the sad, touching ending. The last 3 minutes really make this one. "Did you see it? did you see it?" Poor Fry.

This episode had potential.

It had a lot of good jokes, and the setting and situation was great.

But then they ruined the entire thing.

Fry: But I guess you'll never feel the same way about me as I do about you.
Leela: I guess not.

This portrays Leela as an unfeeling, coldhearted person. And then she just walks away!
(Although she did make up for it slightly.)

Then there's that message being blown up. It's a well known writing rule never to use coincidence to help a character. But this is a point-blank example of when I think it should not be used hurt a character, either.

I liked 'Parasites Lost' because it was artistically sad. This episode was just blatantly sad.

This is one of the three Futurama episodes that actually made me cry...

(See my reviews for 'Love & Rocket', 'Parasites Lost', and 'Leela's Homeworld'.)

Fantastic episode, the profesor and the globetrotters together is hilarious. Bender was surprisingly funny as a crazed fan and zoidbergs glee at affecting the smell-a-scope is lol material. The flashes through time also add to the episode. Personally I believe the ending makes the episode just as fry finally realises how to get leela, what he has wanted for so long, it is gone into a blackhole, real heartrenching stuff

Fry should have moved another

This has to be a tie for my favorite episode along with the episode 300 Big Boys. Bender's respect for the Globetrotters causing him to change his behavior around Bubblegum Tate showed a dimension of Bender rarely seen in the show. Also, the main plot making no sense from the very start really puts this episode higher on my list. This ep. really took advantage of the fact that the show is set in the future. One of the best episodes in my humble opinion.

One of the best episodes ever. Zoidberg and especially Farnsworth are in top form. Bender's part is pretty funny, especially for the out of characterness; it's like his folk singer thing. The "are you really funky enough part" was a crack up.

Some of the time skips were hilarious. Some of them jsut kept the plot mivong.... just like regular scenes in an ep; every one of them isn't supposed to be a joke, necessarily.

The Globetrotters, although I have no clue what they're from, were hilarious.

As for the ending and the Fry-Leela plot, this episode was AMAZING. The ending was ridiculously tragic. Nothing wrong with that. I like a lot of the ep's that have some bit of drama in them, and this one did it EXTREMELY well.

I personaly really enjoyed this episode mainly because of how bad Bender wanted to be a Globe Trotter. (Then Agian who doesn't?)The plot was full of holes due to how much it jumped and also many years could have went by which should have affected future episodes but as far as I'm concerned didn't. One reason I might enjoy it so much coulc be because I have only seen it a few times there for it doesn't seem over laughed. Still one of my favorites.

I think the marriage joke was probably something which would have fitted better into the last season than this one. There weren't many really funny bits, but I did enjoy the one liners. The gag out the front of the cop shop was almost something which should be mandatory considering what you see on TV nowadays. An amusing episode, with a bit of drama near the end, and probably one of my top 10 faves

I don't know, but I think all the jumps in time follows an idea in a character's mind.
Amy is thinking about her birthday, we jump to it. They are thinking how to build the gravity pump, they built it. Fry is thinking how to marry leela, they are married.
In this theory, there was no 'reason' for the marriage or for Hermes' conga. It was only the 'power of the mind' that caused it.

Zoidberg and Farnsworth are simply on fire in this episode. Right from the getgo Farnsworth delivers("I may be an old man, in fact I'm fairly sure that I am") and he continues with some hilarious moments as basketball coach("Enough about your promiscuous mother, Hermes") and solver of the time lap problem. However Zoidberg comes up with one of the greatest futurama jokes of all time with his "You all still have Zoidberg" rant followed up by "Zoooiidbeeeerg" while having that unlikely smug look on his face.

The main problem fans seem to have with this episode is the time skips, which, ironically, was my favorite part (other than the aww ending, of course). Overall it's a pretty good episode. The concept is really creative, and I really liked the globetrotters.

But that ending. The first time I saw that, I just thought it was extremely bitter and cold-hearted. I mean it was pretty depressing, not Jurassic Bark depressing by any means, but still...

Overall, a good episode, but not quite on par with the best of the best. It sort of felt like a middle of the road kind of episode to me. Still memorable for the Fry/Leela parts though.
