I say! What a great season opener. Not only was the plot great, but the jokes within it
were great as well: Fry spraying on his army suit, Fry smelling blue, Fry getting Enos is
more danger than Enos would have originally gotten himself into. One of the first things
you would have definitely noticed were the effects. There were more computerized images
and moving objects were blurred to give it a more realistic look to it. Futurama has
obviously upgraded to a better level. The cinematography is great! There are always
different methods in which to travel through time, and I think the Futurama staff did a
good job with that.

It was hilarious how Bender still managed to steal a wallet with his arm independent from
his body. Was it just me or did you just laugh your ass off when Zoidberg freaked out
when he found out that the buffet was free?! Thank God I wasn't drinking anything,
because I would have spit it out! Seeing Farnsworth and Leela in a new get-up is always
fun. It's great how consistent Futurama is; Leela did say "axe" instead of "ask" after all.
The best part was when Enos hinted that he was gay. Fry’s reaction was the funniest!
Truman is such a nut! Wait, if Enos died, he didn't get to clean the toilet! The sergeant still
ate on it! Finally, Zoidberg made a funny intended joke! Seeing the Planet Express ship
blow the crap out of the military base is always a good thing. Leela can still kick ass even
with a jetpack.

At first it was their mission to not change the past, but screw that! You know that classic
old example of how you can become your own grandfather? Who actually expected
anybody to revolve an episode around it? Again, Fry gets lucky...ew. And, of course,
gotta love all of that slapping Fry received from Leela.

My favorite quotes:

Fry: No dessert for me, just coffee!

Fry: I dunno, maybe God l loves me
Bender laughs

Mildred: No sir, I'm afraid I don't take much solace in the fact that the implosion trigger
functioned perfectly.

Zoidberg: Are you coming on to me?
President Truman: Hot crackers! I take exception to that!
Zoidberg: I didn't hear a no.

Farnsworth: Oh, a lesson in not change history from Mr. I'm my own Grandpa!

Fricking great episode!

Big "wows" goes out to Fry being his own grandfather, Bender's head being buried in the desert for 1,000 years... and to great quotes from Farnsworth: "Screw history!" and "Take that causality!"

This episode gets the season off to a great start. It was a little predictable in parts, like when Fry killed Enos and ended up becoming his own grandfather, but it was still funny. There were some nice quotes, and I liked Leela and Professor's outfits.

wow! this was easily the best episode yet. if this episode doesn't win an emmy next year, i'll be stunned. this is the sort of episode we all knew futurama's staff could make with the right amount of dedication!

between fry trying not to get his grandfather killed ("thank god you pushed me onto this pile of rusty bayonettes!") and truman and his entourage investigating tthe alien autopsy, it's hard to pick out a favorite moment. i liked the line where truman tells the army guy to invent nasa and tell them to get to work on the moon landing.

the one liners were sharp, the plot well thought out and come on, if you didn't just fall out of yer chair laughing when the prof. walks into the scene in an orange zoot suit, i can't really help you!

Pretty good. The storyline is odd to say the least, but pretty entertaining. A good start for the new season. Also, a big plus for Zoidberg fans, as he plays quite a role in this ep.

WoW, what a great season opener. Fry is his own grandfather! That is soooo funny! I really liked the parts with Fry trying to keep Enos from getting killed, and the clothes that Leela and the Prof. were wearing. Great episode. Keep it up Futurama.

Great episode. The writing snapped, crackled, and popped. Sure, some parts were predictable, but overall this was a brilliant episode. Not my favorite, but it's up there.

"Everyone put on your seatbelts!"
"Eh, those things cost more lives than they save"

"There, good as new!"
"Don't you need this?"

There, just saw it. And loved it I must say.
Liked all the star trek references ("I'll get that operational in 10 hours" "I give you *8*").
Zoidberg did a great job once again, looks like he is ranging in on my favourite character list.
The story was a sure winner with the time travel but I have to say J. Burns made it even better than I thought. The episode never dragges inspite of having an actual plot. Well done!

Pretty good, I didn't enjoy it as much as others, only because it just seemed odd to see futurama in the past. But the graphics were incredible, especially the atomic bomb test and the time tunnel. A solid episode and i can't wait till this season gets rolling.

Absolutely Fantastic. I've been a fan of futurama since it started, and will continue to do so. With the current demise of the simpsons, it sems we have a saviour. My fiance and I laughed from start to end, EASILY one of the funniest episodes ever, and some great (if twisted) lines. This is great stuff.. More please!

The 7+ months of waiting are finally over, and this was a great season opener. I loved how no one thought that it odd that the "alien spacecraft" was a third the size of the alien.
The conspiracy nut bit was also funny. "Crackpot Photographs Truman Again"

I did see the Fry's-his-own-grandfather bit coming, but it was still funny that they actually went through with it. (but did they have to have her suddenly start knitting and otherwise acting grandmotherly}

A bit too much of the Star Trek plot lines though. Remember when the Ferengi landed in Roswell (DS9 "Little Green Men"), or when the Enterprise crew found Data's head buried on the alien planet where it had been since the 1800s(TNG "Time's Arrow")?

All in all, too short after the long hiatus. I also hoped to see more of the cast, but even Zoidberg's bits here were too few (and extremely hilarious).

I really liked this episode. I had to wait to wait nearly 7 months for it, but it was truly a great episode. Fry's grandpa Enus wa hilarious. Especially his line about only going out with women because you were supposed to, as well as when he kept turning the page on the calender. There were many great moments especially the corn on the cob thing.

At last, a new ep!

I loved this one, even though my favorite character was nowhere to be seen. Highlights were Fry trying to protect his existence (and his grandfather's heterosexuality ), every scene with Zoidberg, Bender's arm pickpocketing all by itself, and Prof. F in a zoot suit.

And is it me, or was the animation BEYOND incredible? From the supernova to time stream to the atomic explosion, this ep was a feast for the eyes as well as the funnybone.

Solid A from me.

Well, add this to the 'Great' pile, which has by now reached a very high level!
I challenge anyone to not love this episode!
The plot was engrossing from start to finish and the jokes came thick and fast: a combination that Futurama is starting to become a deft hand at!
I also agree that the animation seemed much more advanced and detailed. Have they started using new techniques? I suppose we'll see... Rich Moore is just such a talented guy!
There were so many twists and turns and all of them good.
The first thing that crossed my mind when Bender fell out of the ship and Fry found him was that how lonely he must have been for over a thousand years. But Bender just dismissed that thought with his quip "Well I WAS having fun until you guys turned up!" The writers covered every corner and it was just a joy to watch.

My Favourite lines were probably Zoidy's "Are you coming onto me?" and Bender, when Fry's grandad got killed: "And you are outta here!!"
Top marks all round!

Great episode! After such a long time of waiting it feels good to see another futurama episode, I can tell you that much...! I really think they should've left the Bender-bit out at the end because it felt out of place to me, something they'd put in at the last minute to stretch the show for 20 more seconds or something. I don't know, it just seemed a little silly, but other than that I loved the show. The professor has some great bits and I thought Zoidberg was absolutely adorable, as he usually is. Loads of great spoofs and good ideas crammed into one single episode, so I was glad to see it as the season opener. Now show the rest of the bloody season, Fox!!!

All in all a good episode. Somethings I didn't like however: zoidberg being way too "in your face"...i like him better when he is shy and not confident. The whole scene with leela and prof. going to sears and then to the diner. really poor and predictable dialogue there. Also giving fry's grandpa a Gomer Pyle voice was equally lame.

Oh merciful mother of all that which is good and pure!! What a great episode!

Excellent season-opener. Enough zany action, and sci-fi references to make me happy. Very good use of all the main-characters involved. Most have already been said, but that's not gonna stop me.

Zoidy, well Zoidy ruled this episode. All his actions and remarks during captivity and interogation was hillarious. As was his mad dash for the buffet, when he realized it was free. This is the way Zoidy should be written, not stupid, not pathetic as such, just your friendly, neighbourhood alien, who desperately wants to be your friend.

The rest of the gang was good too. Farnswoth and Leela in the white goods store, was brilliant. The chauvanistic salesman was the perfect opponent for Leela. Fry' troubles with his grandfolks was also very good. The problems with time-paradoxes was handled great, way better than ST:Voyager has ever done. It is ALWAYS good to see Leela kick some butt, whether it be personal or using the PE ship. That PE ship sure is one heck of a gunplatform.

The story flowed nicely, very wellwritten and filled with good references to the "Roswell-conspiracy", ST, and other things. Let us keep this up folks.

Short comment:
Things I like

Loved the part about Area 51. "Then we have to really land on the moon, invent NASA, and tell 'em to get of their fannies"

The continious misuse of Zoidy. "Alright, here is the plan: Zoidberg, pick up the pieces. Everone else, take five."

Zoidy's first words to the military dudes. "Hello. So what are you guys doing tonight, I'm up for whatever."

The ST:TOS reference (I think it is ST:TOS) "No problem the ship is fixed, except for the cupholder, and I should have that operational within 10 hours. - You got 8!"

The ST:TNG reference (Times Arrow I + II)

The DS9 reference. That was almost a true copy of the Bajoran Wormhole.

The attack on Rosweel Airbase, and the rescue of Zoidy.

Okay time to stop weaving. Love it, I'd call that a 5.

Some wonderment: If the supernova is such an once-in-a-lifetime oppurtunity, where in Legoland is Amy and Hermes?

FINALLY it has just aired in the UK! Absolutely brilliant episode, it was well worth the wait. The storyline was superb and it was really well written. It had great pace and loads of great funny moments and and one liners.
I'm on a real high right now, it is one of my favorite episodes, I really like the way the characters were used. Zoidbergs autopsy was hilarious and seeing how the people of 1947 reacted to him. Was it me or were the visuals and animation amazing! Plenty of CGI and extremely well blended in to the rest of the animation, I like the way it was spread through the episode too. They did a good job of using CGI while representing 1947 making it feel like the time it was set in while using modern techniques.

I loved the way the plot twisted with some real surprises and great dilemmas which the crew had to deal with. Fry's grandfather dieing, Fry becoming his own grandfather, stealing the microwave dish and Benders head remaining in 1947. I liked the retro settings and thought that they looked really realistic and well researched. It ended pretty well and the whole thing felt spot on, amazing premiere.

A disappointingly average episode for a season premiere. If the series goes on like this, maybe Fox axing it isn't such a bad idea. I'd rather it went out like this than sunk to the depths of The Simpsons.

Anyway, there were still some good bits in it. As has been said many times before, the graphics were amazing, especially in the scene with the PE ship blowing up the air base, which was a treat to view.

The professor and Leela's scenes were the best, although the best line of the episode goes to Bender, after having been dug up by Fry.

I didn't really like Zoidberg in this episode. He was a bit stupid (e.g. his first lines to the air base guys). The 'are you coming on to me?' line was good, although spoilt with the 'I don't hear a no..'.

Fry's grandfather was annoying too (esp. the voice), although the part with him turning over the calendar page was good. I think they should have made him Fry's mum's dad, though, if they were going to give him red hair. Also, if he was on his dad's side, I wonder why he wasn't called Yancy? Oh well, not important.

Futurama should stick to the future.

Oh dear god ! Whats happened to this show ?? Just saw this episode for the first time here in the UK, and it was truely bad. Futurama has been getting worse every season, and if this is a taste of things to come, why bother. One beat jokes, no plot development. (BTW - If benders head has been buried in the sand since 1947, doesnt that mean that everything that happend in benders life to that point, didnt happen? ) The characters have just become un-likeable idiots, even Leela. This could have been a really funny, clever episode. I mean they went back in time for, and know one was particuarly intrested to see what life used to be like) Why cant the show go back to being actualluy intelligent, and realistic. Instead of.....well, The Simpsons. A flight to remeber, Space Pilot, I second that emotion, and Aliens attack are all GREAT eps. More of those, and less of these plz.

Fry's a moron, isn't he? He sends the ship back through time microwaving popcorn, blows up his grandfather in a nuclear blast, and sleeps with his own grandmother! Other highlights include Leela and the Professor searching for a new microwave, the cupholder gag, and Bender's body being turned into a mini UFO. The only downside with this episode is that it gets stupid towards the end, with the Professor in a flying chair, and Zoidberg's organs being hurled all over the place. On the whole, however, a solid start to the new season.

My all time favorite, and nothing can change that!
Not only because the plot was great and the jokes the funniest ever seen on TV, but also because I'm a nerd when it comes to miltary history, and seeing those Mustangs fly,,,GREEEEAAAT
Also I find all the UFO-freaks quite laughable and that added another dimention to the fun.

On February 1, 2003, this episode won the Annie Award for Directing in an Animated Television Production, which went to Rich moore, and you can see why.

A time paradox story that doesn't skimp on the sci-fi. The computer-generated images were well-integrated, and so was the story. The collision of a super nova and Fry microwaving non-microwavable popcorn and sending them back to 1947, beautiful!

Of course, involving Bender's @$$, and a frantic Zoidberg (it's true, that his buffett scene is great, and just reading people saying how hilarious it was still has me laughing.

Fry's interference in only making his future even more traumatic (accompanied by Bender's remarks and Leela smacking Fry aruond to knock him out of his traumatic stupor) was great, notably when he realizes the error of what he has done (and why is it all the hot women go for Fry? He's had Amy, Morgan, and his own Grandmother!(shudder)).

I loved later when the Professor has had enough and basically says damn the consequences and just do what we have to.

And did anyone else see that A-Bomb scene coming a mile away?

Terrific episode. The animation and jokes were all great. This reminded me of "The Day the Earth Stood Stupid" because the plot didn't quite make sense. But that doesn't matter, this is still a wonderful episode. It was weird seeing Futurama in the past but some good jokes came from it, like Leela's ignorance of the past. "Fry's from around this time, I'll talk like him."

This episode was very good. It deserves that Annie Award it won.

I just saw it and I have to say...WOW! That was INCREDIBLE!! Honestly one of the funniewst 30 minutes of TV I've ever seen, and the best episode of any program ever (outside of a few great Simpsons episodes)!

I was rolling from beginning to end, especially in the third act when they completlely mess with history. The plot was great, consistent, and flowed well, and the characters and subplots were HILARIOUS! Most notably Dr. Zoidberg ("Are you coming on to me?")!

Incredible.

Amazing. Simply amazing. With every minute was a hilarious jokes, and of course, fall-out-of-your-chair-laughing jokes by the great Dr. Zoidberg!

Leela:I don't know what happened, but we seemed to have taken on a lot of clocks.

Fry:But if she is my grandmother, who's my grandfather?
Prof:Isn't it obvious?
Fry:>shakes head<
Prof:You are!

Truman:If you come in peace, surrender. If you're here to make war, we surrender.
Zoidberg:Both good, the important thing is I'm meeting new people.
Truman:What's your purpose here, are you here to make some kind of alien-human hybrid?
Zoidberg:Are you coming on to me?
Truman:Ha, crackers, I take exception to that!
Zoidberg:I'm not hearing a no...

Well, for a season premiere, this episode was definately out of the ordinary compared to most Futurama episodes, but still great. As illogical as the whole concept of the episode was, it was without a doubt hillarious, and Zoidberg was just terrific.

This is my favorite quote:

Fry: *snore*
Leela: "Oh!"
Bender: "Oh my god!"
Fry: *tap* "Eh?"
Professor: "What the hell have you done Fry?"
Fry: "Relax. She can't be my grandmother! I've figured it all out."
Professor: "Of course she's your grandmother you perverted dope! Look"
Mildred: "Come back to bed dery."
Fry: "Waa! It's impossible! If she's my grandmother, then who's your grandfather?"
Professor: "Isn't it obvious? YOU ARE!!!!"
Fry: "Aaaaa! Aaaaa! Aaaaa!"

Oh my god, I'll never look at Fry the same way again.

That was a good episode. I felt that the star of this episode was Zoidberg. He has some really funny things to say. I like when he is being held at the millitary base and he has no idea whats going on. I also like how Bender gets trapped in the desert for 1000 years. But that brings up questions about the time line like all time related shows do, it's best not to think about it as you will only get confused.

even more disturbing than "Fry & the Slurm Factory".....but just as hilarious!

another thing about "Fry & the Slurm Factory"....in that episode, they had a joke about Bender causing Fry to become sterile. (Bender pointed a high-powered x-ray at his crotch, Fry yelled "Ow, my sperm!"; Bender did it again and Fry said "Hey, it doesn't hurt anymore!"). And yet in this ep he impregnated his own grandmother. (As someone on the commentary track stated, "there are so many things wrong with that sentence.").

Very good. What more is there to say? After a brief interlude of no futurama (somebody beat up Channel 4, 4 me) this was welcome. Although as i saw it on video, i of course, couldnot help but glance at the synopsis on the back! Oh the shame, i saw the plotline in brief!

Ah well. Best lines?

Fry:(sniff sniff)'Hey! What smells like blue?'

Fry:'So who is my grandfather?'
Prof:'Isn't it obvious?'
Fry:'No.'
Prof:'It's you!'
Fry is silent, then screams...

Now it's not a new concept (Red Dwarf did this 7 years ago) but they've definately pulled it off perfectly.

First of all, I just know the part where Bender's head got stuck in 1947 didn't really happen. It was perhaps a joke because if it was for 1,000 years, Lucy Liu or anyone else wouldn't know him afterwards. Besides, the creators wouldn't redo Bender's life. AND he would rust.
However, I'm giving it a 2 because I love this series and the rest was funny.

A great episode...I think a lot of people who hated it did not get the jokes.

Much of the humor revlolved around understanding the people or objects being parodied; I suspect this is the reason so many fans from the UK did not like it.

The Professor's "flying chair" refers to a brand of recliner used by the older generation in the US; he's too old for the jet pack, you see.

Love the autopsy bit; Zoidberg is thrilled for all the attention (and I think he really enjoys the autopsy), and of course he's got multiples of most organs. The buffet scene was also good. Tons of good Zoidberg bits in this one.

Leela and Dr. Farnsworth's misunderstandings of 1947 fashion are also funny, sort of like if I fell into the middle ages and tried to plan what I would wear to look "average".

Good humor on the millitary mind and President Truman as well.

"Turn that damn T.V. off, now."
"But mom, it's almost over."
"I said, turn this crap off right now before I whip out the uzi!"
"All right, all right, mom. It just ended anyway! Hey mom, can I go onto gotfuturama.com now and right a review of it, please?"
"Fine, but make it quick. If your not done in five minutes out comes mommy's gun!"

As you can see my time here is limited so I'll make this as brief as I can (which, if you've read any of my other reviews, is not very brief.)

ON TO THE REVIEW
Roswell that Ends Well. The episode that gave Futurama the highest honor a television program can recieve. An Emmy. For Outstanding Animated Program of less than an hour. And outstanding is hardly the word to describe it. It is just too great for me to even think of words to descibe it. I'll put it like so... One of the very best if not the best episode of Futurama, ever.
The jokes are halarious and witty and the farce played on the whole Roswell situation is remakably insightive. Harry S. Truman is played to be an idiot and the military is all but intelligent. But of all the jokes, and they come fast and furiously, the greatest thing about this episode is... ZOIDBERG, baby.
He plays a hugely important role in the halarity of this episode and the scenes where the army is disecting him to see what his body contians, is one of Zoidie's best moments.
Person from Army: (Pulls out Zoidbergs heart)Heart
Zoidberg:Who cares, I have four of those.
Person from Army: (Pulls out a Deviled Egg fom inside Zoidberg) A Deviled Egg
Zoidberg: (Eats the egg) MMM.
Person from Army: The same Deviled Egg.
Also, Fry being his own grandfather is just flat out side-splitting.
The visual effects are, also, better than ever (did you see how they made those Army planes fly and that awesome atomic explosion.)
All in all, great epis...
BAM, BAM, BAM.
Ow, damn, Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Mom why the hell did you just shoot me in the side, I'm fricking bleeding like crazy here. Feeling a little woozy, loosing too much blood...
I hope you die, too, Jason. You were on for more than five minutes.

AWESOME episode. The best of the 3rd season and it's in the top 10 Futurama eps as well. Definitely worth showing to those not knowing of the series.

Two minor points:

1. Fry is not his own grandfather. Remember, Enis got killed BEFORE he did the iggy-jiggy with Enis' fiance. If they reversed this, then it would be true that Fry became his own grandfather, or else he would have disappeared.

2. If the time-hole was still available, why do they need the Jiffy-Time popcorn to get back in, don't you miss the stuff? (of course, this renders the story pointless then, so it's no problem for me...)

My all time Favorite episode. Not only is Fry becoming his own grandfather one of the most classic moments in cartoon history but after listening to the commentary for this episode I started to think it was actually possible. I like how Bender's head is 1000 years older than his body because it was stuck in the dessert for a 1000 years. I also liked the crazy guy who kept taking pictures of things and the pictures turned into classic photographs like the Lock Ness Monster.

This is one of the most classic episodes of all time. It deserved the emmy. I liked back to the futer but this making fun of it was much better. I really liked the fact that fry becomes his own grandfather, wich is just histerical. And I also loved the biopsy seen where zoidberg asks truman "are you coming on to me" "what are you talking about" " I'm not hearing a no" This episode is in my top ten probablt. I also liked that bender was stuck in the same place for thosands of years. and one of the best quotes " I smell blue"

I think this is the best "in the past" episode. I really like the part they have bender as a UFO which they should of had more him like that then it would of been better. Plus how did they put together bender's body back to a UFO when it first was like a garbage can? That's weird. But it was cool how they get these idea's to reshape Bender like in "The Honking" they have Bender like a car and then in this one they have him like a UFO. What will they think of next!

This is a great episode. One of my top five favorite episodes. The best part was when Fry learned he was his own grandfather and started sceaming. That was great!
Best lines:

Fry: I don't know why I'm still here, maybe God loves me?
(Bender laughs)

Proffesor: Yea thats a great lesson about not changing history from Mr. I'm my own grandfather.

this is one of if not the best episode of futurama; it was dramatic and hilarious the computer graphics were 1st rate and so was the humer, everthing from those clocks in the rip in the space time continuem, to how fry turnd out to be his own granpa my favorite quotes were "What smells like blue." "don't do anything that effects anything, unless it turns out you were suposed to do it then for the love of God don't not do it." and "oh a lesson in not changing history from mister i'm my own granpa." long story short the time travel plot plus the raw genius of the writing really erarnd that Emmy.

This is one great ep!It's amazing that Fry is his own grandpa. At the beggining Farnsworth explained how they traveled through time.It seems a possibility. Also Fry farthering his farther has a lower chance than a mouse stuck in cement!

Now,here are some keys:
G-grandfarther.
F-farther.
C-child.

G:This is Fry.Fry's genes are identical to Fry.
F:This is Yancy Sr.His genes are slightly different to Fry.
C:Since Fry did the I.M A GRANDPA OF ME concieving,His child/farther has different genes than Yancy's son/dad.His DNA {For Yancy Sr} is different than his son/farther {Fry}.This means that Fry's grandpa is different from Fry.Since he's his own grandfarther this means he is not indentical to himself. This creates a paradox, like being a sphere and being a cone at one time. But since people can reproduce, there is a small{1/10^10^60} chance.I hope you get this.Oh,Zoidberg wants his heart back or he will enslave 97.236% of FOX,and PLEASE SAVE FUTURAMA!!!!!!!!!This episode scored 5/5.

I have to say this is the funniest episode yet and it is also a major episode in the overall Futurama plot. It was halarious seeing Leela and the Professor in those clothes, and watching Fry trying to make Enos avoid thought of love, being neutered, or killed. Even Zoidburg was funny, during the disection and when they were back at Planet Express. Every minute had a dozen things to laugh about. this is no were a good episode, its not good at all. Its freaking extravigantly a brilliant emmy award winning episode! thats how damn goood it is! first of all they travel back *pretty much further* from fry's time, then bender falls out of the planet express ship window "ahh, those things cost more lives then they save...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!". then zoidburg picks up all of benders pieces, troops come they find him and the "spaceship". "hey, thats no spaceship, thats my ass!". Which explains all of the area 51 buisness.

Overall this has got to be one of my favourite episode, and i mean this, this time! Plus this is the first time they got to make visual ground (by ground i mean cars, trucks, tanks touching the ground, no hove cars) so they got a lot to experiment with thier.

I think this is a big episode for, fry, zoidburd and bender. Fry goes undercover to find his grandad and makes sure noting happens to him. First of all he dives him in to a pile of rusty swords, then kills him in a newclear bomb!then zoidburg gets tested out to see if he really is a alien, he has these funny quotes. " are you coming on to me?!".
"its, free?! blaaahhuurrghgllaaaa!".
"go ahed take it, i have 3 of them!".

because they find all of benders body, its only benders head in action this episode :p. but still as usual he comes out with the jokes! "hey, thats an awfull wierd snakbox you got here".
"hey, hey thats my braaain!".
"these crackers are mighty crunchy..".

so yeah my favuite episode =), well dome futurama crew.

HIghest Rated episode? Why? I thought it was funny and clever, but it made no sense. Little of futurama makes sense, but this one was just ridiculous. A supernova explosion and microwave radiation results in time travel? I was assured I was high when I saw this episode. I Don't mean to be nerdy, (thought I am no competetion for some on this site) but all a supernova explosion does is kill you. If you're within 500 million light years it will kill you. And Fry is his own grandfather? It's just so ridiculous. If you think about that for more than 5 minutes blood will shoot out of ears. SO it was good, but just way too ridiculous.

Does Fry have synesthesia?

I know the "What smells like blue?" and "did everything just taste purple for a second?" are jokes, but they describe a real condition where peoples senses are intertwined. They can see sounds smell colors, and taste shapes. I learned about this disorder from a book, A Mango Shaped Space

this episode was perfect! i love how it really begins to give hints as to what may happen later on in the show. it's like this episode was creating a goal for the show and that the show actually has a meaning. i love how these episodes work together. it's just fabulous.

i also love how the creaters of this show really take futurama to their advantage of their imagination. the whole rosewell deal and their "interpretation" of it is absolute genious.

This episode deserves a four for the one-liners alone.

Professor: "Oh, a lesson in changing history from 'Mr. I'm My Own Grandpa!'"

Enos: "Did you ever get the feeling that we only like women because...well...we're supposed ta?"

Professor, after Leela burns his tie with the stove burner on purpose: "OH!...Women!"

Drill Sergent: "Private Enos! I want those toilets to be so clean that I can eat of 'em...because I intend to at 1200 hours today!"

It gets a five for Zoidberg, as this episode shows that he needs to be more involved.

A solid story brought to you at a lightning fast rate of oneliners, jokes related to great historical highlights and the subtle related-to-more-serious-science-fiction jokes.

And of course: Dr. Zoidberg:
"Hello! ... So what are you guys doing tonight? I'm up for .. whatever!"
"Are you coming on to me?"

Fry that brings nonchalance to a new level:
Farnsworth "Some idiot must have put metal in the microwave!"
Fry "Yo."

This episode is extremely funny and (by god) never has a drama moment. Easily one of the best ..., hell, the best episode ever!

One of the very best episodes, especially in light of the fact that Matt Groening wanted to stay away from time-travel stories.

It works because time travel puts Fry in a legitimately tight situation -- Enos has unresolved homosexual feelings that might result in Fry not being born. The resolution of having Fry become his own grandfather is tasteless, but brilliant. (Sort of "what would happen if you went back in time and killed your grandfather before your father was born? in reverse.)

Note the calendar Enos is staring at a moment before he's incinerated.

but I don't blame Matt Groeing (exscuse me if I spelled Matt's last name wrong) because they needed to finish/work on The Simpsons Anyway this is one of my favorite episode and as I'm writing this I'm watching Futurama on My tivo the title is Bendin' in the Wind (the one where Bender joins a band) Anyway this episode is good and really I just wrote this to show you I'm a Futurama Fan thank you

The most likely candidate for best episode of Futurama. The idea that the Roswell alien sightings being the Planet Express crew is a very good idea and the script meets with the ingeniousness of the idea. It is very well written, very funny and nicely goes against the time travel cliches ('We can not change History, or it will effect the present') with the "Let's just get out of here - Screw History" sequence. And Zoidberg is utterly hilarious.
