After a while without Futurama on fox, this great show returns. I enjoyed watching it very much. The story of getting super powers is fairly old, but the way that it was expressed was refreshing. Great show

Good, but not great. I would have expected a "superhero" episode to have a lot more references in in. All in all, not a very cerebral episode.

Well, I have just finished watching this episode. It was nice to see a new one on FOX for once. But the episode wasn't all that good.

The super hero bit was a pretty stupid idea. Bender was not Bender. Why is Bender joining Fry and Leela. I much rather see Bender steal stuff like he usually does instead of joining the good side. The begining of the show was kind of funny, but the ending was very BORING.

Overall, I guess I should appreciate what I get from FOX and be thankful that they are still showing new episodes. Hope next week's "Teenage Mutant Leela" is better...if they show it.

I would give it a 2 but because the beginning did have some...some pretty funny parts in it, I will be nice and give it a 3.

The mainstory was quite good. A miracle cream that give superpowers is one of those ideas Futurama is perfect for. Imagine this concept on Simpsons (although that's probably not far away). If you're familiar with superhero shows and comics lots of references will ring true, even crappy 70's movies are referenced. ;)

Leela, Bender and Fry was good as heroes, nothing wrong there. Best ... theme song ... ever!

The sidestory with Leela's parents was the weak spot of this show. I think that could've been written alot better, without Leela's parents constantly talking about how Leela must be embarrased, must hate them, blah-blah-blah. Enough already, once or twice is all it takes for us to get it.

Morris going on a fishing trip was funny though.

The Zookeeper, yeah alright he'll pass.

Overall, above average, but not the best of the season.

Great episode, plots a little weak ok but the one liners more than make up for it. A few favourites:

"An elphant who never forgets................ to kill!

etc :p

I just watched the episode a little bit ago. i liked it ok, but i didn't like how Bender wasn't really himself most of the episode. i did like when i was decided on whether or not he should steal to help Leela's parents. Overall.. it was OK but not the funniest.

After hearing the plot, I was expecting a poor episode. Instead, I was happily proven wrong with a slightly above average episode. Best of the new season. Superhero extrapolation made up for by humourous content. Especially the Zookeeper's goon squad and when Bender gives Tiny Tim Bot an autograph then kicks him over.

The song in the middle is really, REALLY funny too.

I really don't know what to say about this one... perhaps:

meh.

Not bad, not great... At least it was an interesting twist on the super hero theme. Instead of capturing the villan or having a plot to foil his designs, we get an interesting lack of options and resort to giving into the demands....

Overall, an average episode.

Honestly, I didn't think this episode was that good. Having things a little off the wall is good now and than, but the level of wackiness in this episode really brought it down in my opinion. It seemed more like a treehouse of horror episode than a futurama, especially since the simpsons did this as an actual treehouse of horror a few years back.

Zoidberg was excellent in this episode.

Pretty good. Fry jumping out the window and the song were the best parts. Zoidberg was also funny. Having the crew as superheros was weird. It was like mixing 2 different types of sci-fi.

The subplot with Leela's parents wasn't very funny. I hope they aren't in many more episodes.

Futurama's been getting bad lately. I miss the great laughing-non-stop episodes of seasons 1-3. Hopefully the next few episodes will be better.

The episode is really more about Leela's relationship with her parents than the whole superhero schtick.

I found Bender to be pretty much "on character"--the poor moral guidance and desperate need to be the center of attention are some of his trademarks.

Some eps are comedy classics, some are dramatically 'shippy, some are just good goofy fun. This one was a tad 'shippy AND just good goofy fun, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

Not a fantastic episode, but I thought it had some great one-liners and a decent plot. Bender with the crown will always be funny, and I liked the "net gain" bit with Mayor Poopenmeyer.

I think people are being too hard on this one. No, it wasn't Futurama at the top of its game, but it had the character of one of those episodes that just fills out the season well by giving you a a lot of light-hearted laughs. It works better when you have weekly episodes instead of this being the first "new" episode in what, 18 months? That's what it feels like!

It was great to see a new episode of Futurama again. Plus, I think this is the first time I could watch two episodes on the same night! (One on Fox and one on CN)

Thought it was a fun episode. Leela's parents are good, typical ethnic parents, always laying the guilt trip on their kids.

I like Fry in his Disco getup. Highwater shoes, Bell Bottoms, Sat Night Fever stance. Funny stuff.

I like during the fight sequence, Bender's punch was followed by "1010110" ala Batman "Pow!"

I found the ending very weak and it left me wanting more. It felt like a Simpsons episode from season 12 or so, where it felt like they just stopped writing because they didn't feel like it anymore. There were some fantastic one-liners, though, and I think the super-hero plot line did well. Bender definitely wasn't himself, though he occasionally shone as Super King.

Some very funny lines, an interesting "what if" premise and best. theme song. ever.

I agree with Teral in saying that Leela's parents slowed the episode down. It was cool to see them and I have no issue at all with an emotional tinged episode, but this should have remained broad comedy from start to finish. OK - her Dad revealing her superhero status and the various mutants repeating it was funny, but I would have rather seen more of the New Justice Team in action.

Don't get me wrong - this was a great episode and will stand up to many repeat viewings. As strong as the production season 4 episodes have been so far, I can not for the life of me imagine what the Fox executives could have been smoking/drinking/otherwise ingesting to let this show die without a fight.

Leela: "Ability to command the loyalty of sea creatures?"
Fry: "Hey, Zoidberg. Get in here!"
Zoidberg: "Screw you!"

God - that made me laugh so hard I missed the next couple of lines.

It was AMAZING to watch Futurama in real time with commercials and the rest of the 'good' stuff.

I thought this was one of the weaker epesoids however. It seemed to me more like the kind of epesoid that would appear in one of the Anthologies of Interest- not a full epesoid.

I did think the professor was hilarious! I loved the variations on 'Good news everyone!' and I loved when he was asked if it was time for his nap! I thought it was going to die laughing.

Definately good to see the site back up and to see some Futurama back on the air. Can't wait until next week.

Not a terribly funny episode, but it seems no matter how bad a particular episode is you can always find a line or two that really makes you giggle like a school girl. For me it was "Citizen Snips." It did seem, however, that "Less than Hero" would have been better as part of a new "Anthology of Interest." Just crop the subplot with Leela's Parents and it would have been perfect as 1/3 an episode.

I can't believe how good this episode was. It never ceases to amaze me how the Futurama writers can take a mediocre plot idea and turn it into one of the funniest television programs ever. I admit that the second half of the episode was not as good as the beginning, and I wish that had not been the case. But anyone who listens to the New Justice Team song has to agree that this episode deserves a rating of 5. Go team!

Pretty good episode which had some slow spots through it. Bender and Fry were great as usual. What was up with Professor Farnsworth? He really (and I mean -really-) seemed out of it this week. Well, it deserves 4.5, but... well alright, i'll give it 5. I'm not crazy about that episode, but I like it. Its funny and suprisefull, mostly because it's plot was written in a little diffrent way than most other episodes - it's like old hero-cartoon plot type seen in a Futurama twisted mirror. First of all I was glad to have my fantastic series back at least for one Sunday in a while. However, I was really disappointed of the episode. Something was missing. Maybe it's because I haven't seen Futurama for such a long time and my expectations have been way too high? Anyway, I guess the story was too much for a person who doesn't like superheroes a lot.
But I'm really excited about the next episodes. Hopefully we'll get to see them all during season 5.

If people remember me from this site, they know I love Futurama already. I never stopped loving Futurama. But I absolutely hated this episode... Unoriginal (and downright silly) story, and the characters didn't seem real. I can imagine Fry wanting to become a superhero maybe, but Leela... and especially Bender? The lines, along with the entire plot, seemed forced. I trust this episode was a fluke and that if we get to see more of the new episodes remaining, I'll be pleasantly surprised. i thought this episode was great. it very nearly made the long wait since early january worth it.

i heard that the episode was going to be a superhero parody, and was worried it would be stupid, as that "genre" is pretty cliche. but they went over-overboard on the silliness, and made it hilarious. the goofy theme song had me falling over laughing, as did fry's line about the invisible rings.

i do think the episode got less funny as it went on, but the funny moments were enough to get it a 5 from me.

Cool episode, I really liked it. Although Im not really a fan of super heroes apart from Spiderman, I always liked the idea of Fry and Leela getting super powers. Its just a really cool idea, and I loved the way they took the rip out the whole superhero genre. This episode was pretty wacky, and Im not normally a fan of wackiness, but in this episode it really worked, and helped show how ridiculous the superhero genre can be. And also the wackiness was really funny too. There were just so many hilarious moments and great lines, it reminded me of the classic Season One days. I think my favourite part in the whole episode is where Fry and Leela are in Dr Zoidbergs surgery putting on the miracle cream, and Zoidberg is just going on, and then suddenly out of nowhere Professor Farnsworth comes bursting through the wall. I really wasnt expecting that at all, and then when hes getting up he says Bad news nobody which added to the hilarity and randomness, and then we had another classic line about a wobbly CD player, class! I also loved the pie-kea joke about Swedish crap and wheel falling off. And another joke that was class was the mutant joke where Leelas dad is telling the 3 armed guy and leg mutant (happy days) about Leela being Cloberella, but not to tell anyone. Then it pans out to the edge of the lake and we see a mutant with huge ears who then tells a mutant with a huge mouth, awesome!

Another great part was the cheesy theme song, I loved it, and I like the way they re-used it at the end as well, recycling the cheesiness. The moment where theyre fighting the animals in the museum, and Benders having a fight with the kangaroo, and then we get some binary when he gets hit, that was so cool too. It was also really cool to see Leelas parents again which gave the episode some more depth. Ive gotta admit that they werent exactly that great in this episode though, but it was good to see them again. I really liked some of the location shots in this episode as well. There werent as many cool angles as there were in Leelas Homeworld, but there were some really great shots, like when Fry Bender and Leela are on the roof of the Planet Express building, it just looks cool. And their costumes were great as well. I think one of the letdowns was the Zoo Keeper though. He just wasnt special, and I wasnt that keen on his character. I wondered why the robber had to be a zoo keeper anyway? But I guess some of his animals helped make up for it, like the Elephant that never forgets to kill, and when he used the snake to get the jewel. But the ending seemed a bit rushed, like they tried to tie up too much at once, but they just about managed, but it seemed kinda forced to me. But other than that, I thought this was an awesome episode.

I noticed that nobody here mentioned the title. It is actually a pun on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, Rules of Attraction) called Less Than Zero. I am not sure how it relates, if at all, as I have not read the book yet, but I know for sure that it has nothing to do with superheroes.

I thought it was really funny how the mayor addressed Bender as, "My liege," and it became almost acceptable that Bender is the leader of the group.

Its was amazing it was on so i had to watch it plus it was on my birthday. The storyline was fresh and returned Leela's parents to put in a good side story. The best joke is when the mayor kisses Bender's hand as calls him his leege.

(How the hell can FOX keep Simposns which is dying and get rid of Futurama that is still funny after not showing it for almost two months?)

Since we have been waiting forever for another Futurama episode and we got this. Overall it wasn't a bad episode but I expeceted a lot more since we have been waiting forever. I heard that Fox reran the Simpsons episode where Marge get implants for the third time. That would be a perfect time to show us a new episode. But instead they did that. Since it's the final season of Futurama they should make every episode great and worth giving five points. Overall, average but expected a lot more.

This episode was cool, the dumb little song, the superhero plot, and the way one thing leads to the other, great. I just started watching about a year ago Futurama and I know a one of a kind show when I see one.

The superhero thing was OK,but Leela's,Fry's and Bender's dialoge were so gay, " Zoo Keeper you're going into festivite", pll ease, I just hope tomorrow's episode is better.

Overall it's great that Futurama is back and I hope it's back to stay and I hope that all Futurama fans keep fighting for keeping FUTURAMA on the air.

Brilliant. This episode was a laugh out load, non stop gag, smile-all-the-way, wonderfully silly 22 minute slice. All the jokes like the Pie-Kea(sorry i don't have an actual pie symbol key!) delivery robot, Hermes licence to kill, the zoo keeper, the pirahna, and everything else worked brilliantly. This episode never tries to be emotional, meaningful, or have any moral message, it's just plain silly fun! And that's not bad thing.

Don't get me wrong I love Futurama's ability to cope with deep storylines and emotions, but episode like this create a healthy mix. Less than Hero is right up there with the all-time greats like: Parasites Lost, Amazon Women..., Roswell That Ends Well, Loves Labours Lost in Space, Godfellas, Hell is Other Robots, and Jurassic Bark!

WATCH IT NOW!

At last, after a very long while, a Futurama episode that didn't leave a trace of a bad taste in my mouth. It's quite ironic really, because I thought this one would be terrible, and 'Jurassic Bark' would be great, but it actually turned out the other way round. Okay, it wasn't GREAT, but it was noticeably better than a lot of season 4 and 5 has been.

The storyline wasn't the greatest (especially the Zoo Keeper - I bet they came up with him in 5 seconds), but this is the first time in a while that Futurama has made me do more than just smile. Dr Zoidberg was great - much more like what he used to be in season 1/2, and I loved the mutant scene. Those ones with the big ears and mouth - genius!

The line that made me laugh the most, though, was when the Professor told the crew to exchange that thing from Pikea for 'some of those rancid meatballs'. I LOVE those meatalls that you can get from Ikea, but the rest of my family say they taste like dogfood, so that was a particularly funny line for me.

Things I didn't like? Well, the villain I've already mentioned, plus his animals were bad too. I hate it when animals get 'personified' in 'The Simpsons', and it was just as bad here, too. Plus that line about the elephant who never forgets... to kill was just like a lame 'Simpsons' joke.

Leela's parents weren't too bad, and I didn't mind Bender doing good for a change.. but there was just something a bit too 'Treehouse of Horror' about the episode for my liking. I suppose it just wasn't futuristic enough for me.

I'll give this episode a 3. I know it seems harsh after the praise I've given it, but I only award 5 to top of the class episodes like 'Luck Of The Fryrish' and 'Xmas Story', and 4 would go to an 'average' season 1 or 2 episode, which this still wasn't on par with. Still a refreshing change from the likes of terrible episodes like 'A Pharoah To Remember' and 'Where No Fan Has Gone Before'.

i missed this one the first time around, and just caught it last night. i was expecting something pretty bad, based on the reviews here, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this episode. very funny throughout it's entirety, and a much-needed pick-me-up after the huge letdown of the series finale follwed by 'kif gets knocked up a notch' which were of the worst episodes of the show. there were tons of laughs in this one, and while, yes, the plot was goofy and somewhat forced and, yes, the Leela's parents subplot was schlocky and boring, the other parts more than made up for it. A very funny episode, it did a nice job of being fairly story-driven with the whole Leela/parents thing, but the superhero plot allowed for plenty of wonderful Fry and Bender humour.

I was thinking of a few high points but the episode felt packed with them...the scene where Fry and Leela discover their powers, and the part with Bender 'hinting' that he wants to be part of the team.

Then the song/montage just had me in fits, the song just keeps repeating itself to rhyme and the verses fit together so awkwardly, its the most hilariously (deliberately) bad theme tune ever.

Plenty of more great stuff like the Zookeeper and his stooges, Mayor Poopenmeyer's lines...it was a great 'gags' episode. It never felt like an excuse for that though, because there was a point, with the Leela/parents thing developing.

Pretty good. It seemed like something straight out of a comic book, sort of like the "flying brain" eps. That's one of the geeky little charms of Futurama, how it can start out as Simpsons-style comedy and then morph into a comic book, a Saturday-morning cartoon, or even a serious story.
Definitely underscores the versatility of this fine show which SOMEBODY BETTER PICK UP FOR NEW EPISODES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The episode was hilarious, beautifully drawn, cleverly written, and that moment when the heroes 3 first stand under the stars to proclaim their arrival only to be hushed by a leathery bitch who nevertheless wants not to miss anything was Groening at his best.

This episode was HILARIOUS, i couldn't stop laughing. The whole New Justice Team song was hysterical, as was the whole concept.
"Who does she beat up? YOUUU!"
The ol' school batman songs and effects were the icing on the cake
"Can I smash you on the head with this board, Captain Yesterday?"
"OWWWWWWWW...that...didn't hurt."
this had so much potential for future episodes. this was one of my top five favourite episodes.
loved the credits, too ;)

This ep is absolutely hilarious. Definately one of favourites. The whole parody of the 60's TV series "Batman" is precious - complete with the action words on screen! Bender's "00101010" joke was priceless!

The whole pi-kea (Ikea) joke was hilarious - anyone who's bought self-assembly furniture knows that there's always a part thats missing, and the Table-bot having it's castor fall off had me in hysterics. And then they top the joke with the Profesor's one about replacing it with a dodgy CD rack! I laughed so hard I thought I was going to have a heart attack LOL! And Leela.... mmmm Leela... drool... lol The thing with leela's parents was so sweet. I love this and "leela's homeworld" for the same reason. Wonderful character interaction. Matt Groening, you're a genius.

the first time i saw this episode, i thought it to be no more than average futurama. however, i watched it a few more times, and it's one of my favorites. the story is OK, not much sci-fi, but it's simply one of the funniest. fry had two of his best lines in here.
1) zookeeper: "hello super heros. or should i say super zeros!"
fry: "that was uncalled for"
2) zookeeper has hawk fetch the gemerald when it's within arm's reach. fry: "that seemed unnecesary.

so many other great lines, but i won't ramble

Am I the only one that rated this a two. It's plot is overused, all dryed up. Okay, we have several superhereos. We have regular peoples, they do something stupid or doing something they were told, find out they have superpowers and use it to protect the innocent. Superheroes get loved ones captured because they can't keep their traps shut and tell them. The we have afterwards a happy family meeting after the zookeeper ordeal. WTF? Then they decide that it was too much of a danger that they put people at the risk a dying a horrible death and all of a sudden quit. You need to give NNYC some sort of message thaty they're on their own now and no one is there to save them anymore. It's a dryed up idea that is used when the producers can't think of anything else and use a stereotypical idea of a superhero team. i'm sorry, a 2 out of 5. This episode sucks so bad.

great theme song, great one- liners. never found out what the warning in 'alien' on the miracle cream said.

one prob with the ep was when morris said his daughter was clobberella and the 3 armed guy said "Leela's clobberella?", the family surname is clobberella, 3 armed guy should have said "Turanga's clobberella?", because turanga is her first name.

another prob was the whole dragged out leela and her parents thing. i never really liked her parents. same with the zookepper.

overall the ep was a good one but not one of my faves.

Keep out of reach of children under the age of five hundred.
For best results sacrifice a small mammal xanroc.
Then apply evenly to interior of eyeball.

How can this episode have only a 79%? It deserves to be much higher than 55/72. It is true that the story is a bit weird and unlike most of the other episodes, but so what? Its a comedy show and this one was really funny. The song was genius and it had a lot of other funny jokes. Its not one of my favourites, but it should at least be rated in the top half of episodes. You people really messed this episode review thing up beyond repair (people reviewing I mean not people who made the site). Not much is in the order it should be.

This episode is the one that usually causes most animated series to jump the shark. One that is usually a horrible idea. I am talking, of course, about "the superhero episode."
Usually an overrated concept, the main characters somehow getting powers and of course using them to kick some crimminal ass, this episode pulls it off surprisingly well. Join Fry, Leela, and Bender as "The New Justice Team," consisting of badass, cool-costumed alter-egos "Captain Yesterday," "Clobberella," and "Super King, the best one of the three!" Oh, no! The museum is going to be robbed at 9 by a villian known as "The Zookeeper!" With his team consisting of "A badger with a troubled past and nothing left to lose," "An elephant that never forgets... TO KILL!" and "A seldom used crab named Lucky... A.K.A.... Citizen Snips!" this madman is determined to get the Quantam Gemerald.
This episode is pretty funny. Not a "Parasites Lost" level of funniness, but nowhere near horrible, especially for a "superhero episode." I do recommend watching it.

There might be cleverer, deeper, more original episodes than this one, but it's one of my favourites anyway. Just all-out silliness - nothing wrong with that. For all the superhero-ness, though, the funniest idea is naming a tiny robot 'Andrew'.

This episode had some good lines, but not as funny as episodes from the first and second season.

Example include:

"A Elephant that never forgets....TO KILL!!!!"

Super King/Bender: "*Fighting a Kangeroo* You are going down my friend. Down Under!!!"

*Kangeroo punches Bender and we see a reference to the Batman Pows in the form of 1011010101!!!*

I loved how this episode reference various superhero shows with the Hotline singal (e.g. Powerpuff Girls Phone).

I thought Leela was hot in Clobberella costume.

Finally, the real gem of the episode is the theme for "The New Justice Team".

Not a great episode, but its average.
