Rockin' episode. Nice to see more focus on Zoidberg (and his people!). We haven't had a Zoidy episode since "Why Must I Be a Crustacean In Love?". Good stuff!

Funny Episode, like to see more of the Free Waterfall family and a bit more background on Zoidberg's people. I also liked the overall incompetence of Earth's army and the return of the Zap and Kiff shennanigans. Only criticism is when Zoidberg is centre of an episode he seems to lack the quirks he retains in other episodes.

Funny episode, but not the greatest.
It was good to see another 'Free Waterfall' in there and there were enough jokes to keep the episode going. Wasn't good enough to get a 5.

Pretty good episode. I don't usually like Zoidberg but, in this episode he played well.

Although I wish they hadn't kept the "camera" focused on Zoidberg during the Hot Tub scene. Would have rather been watching Leela and Amy :> But then I guess it wouldn't have made it to the air. Oh well, we'll just have to wait for the Futurama Movie.

Zoidberg being a Jewish alien makes this episode ripe for attacks from the ADL on the basis that it might be anti-semitic. The Decapodians (Jewish crustaceans--not kosher) dominating the earth with their Mobile Oppression Palace: sounds like a reference to the "World Jewish Conspiracy" to me.

Another fantastic episode - what can I say? Political humor and great plot, this show just gets better every week, and I've been watching from the get-go.

Fry was just hilarious, as was Waterfall what's his name...his courtrooom scene was riotous! And when he was blabbing on and on before they hired him, and Fry responds "You're a lawyer? You're hired!" - pure butter.

And bravo for a good Zoidberg episode, I think this is only the third one with him as the main focus, and it was second best to the mating one.

Lovely.

Pretty good episode. I didn't laugh a lot but I liked seeing the Supreme Court (where the Constitution doesn't mean a thing), the rooster lawyer, Kif, and lots of Zoidberg. Zoidberg was actually funny in this episode, and he was given more depth.

The two main things I didn't like about this episode were the invasion (unfunny and felt too forced) and the hot tub scene. I wish they'd stop trying to make Futurama sexy. It doesn't work.

What a great episode. After the pathetic Bark ep this one was refreshing! Apart from the jokes and punch-lines I really enjoyed the plot. For me this wasn't a mere Zoidberg ep but also an in-your-face satire about stupid (US) patriotism and the value of freedom. 5 points!

There is absolutely nothing special about that episode - it's not very funny, not very interesting, not very anything. So far, from the 5 season only "The Route Of All Evil" was really worth seeing more than once and I think it's because it was from 3ACV. If this keeps going, than I personally won't be so sorry for Futurama being canceled.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I must admit that I wasnt particularly looking forward to this one, but it turned out better than I expected. Out of the three Zoidberg centred eps, its not quite as good as the awesome Why Must I be a Crustacean in Love? but it comes reasonably close. The reason I wasnt particularly looking forward to this episode though, was because the second Zoidberg heavy episode, Thats Lobstertainment is my least favourite out of every Futurama episode. It lowed my hopes for this one, but luckily Harold Zoid wasnt to be seen, thank god! and this episode was a hell of a lot better.

I laughed out load at the beginning with Zoidberg on the table doing the hilarious freedom dance, and then Fry joined in, class. And the plot was really cool, and there was plenty of things going on, and loads of great one-liners from plenty of characters. I liked the way that Zoidberg didnt steal all of the episode, and gave Fry, Bender and Leela more time, and we also had some great Zapp/Kif interplay. It was great to see the Hyperchicken lawyer again, and Morbo too. I kinda wish that this episode would have been done with Morbos race invading Earth instead of Zoidbergs, because Morbo always threatens Earth and the puny humans with an attack one day in the future. But the Zoiderg angle still worked very well, and it gave the opportunity for some amazing computer animation of those crab spaceships from Zoidbergs planet. It was really well done, and I loved the designs, and the smooth animation and the way they moved, especially that giant crab mobile walking down the street. Overall a surprisingly good episode, but not the best, Id say its a 3.5 out of 5, but Ill round it up to 4.

Wasn't as funny as what I'm used to. The plot wasn't bad, but it didn't have the comedic kick that I expect out of Futurama. Plus it did that irritating trick that Simpsons always does--it screws up the ENTIRE world for five minutes, then something happens and everything is resolved in the last thirty seconds. How sloppy. Work within the parameters, people!

Generally an average episode with a middle class story. Anyway, the intro with Fry and Zoidberg dancing the freedom dance at the table was pretty funny. Also you got to see Leela and Amy Wong undressing for the hot tub.
Also I don't think Zoidberg is playing his role correctly - he's just way too sane and logically thinking..

I liked this episode quite a bit, Zoidberg is one of my favourite characters (I always go for the pathetic TV characters which everybody else hates :D)

I thought it was funny how everyone on Zoidberg's planet talked like him; adding 'already' and stuff... Well, you get what I mean :)...

One of the best for season 5 - I thought 'Jurassic Bark' sucked (cartoon dogs trying to make me cry really don't work for me), 'Crimes of the Hot' and 'The Route of all Evil' were alright.

The lawyer was also really funny.

What I found strange about this episode was the fact that the second act was noticably stronger than the first. I found the first act enjoyable due to some great background jokes(the guy painting the freedom day sign adds "I hate my job" on the bottom of the sign), and some eye candy (naked hot-tubbing!). But overall I thought the first half was too jam-packed with ideas racing buy really quickly (maybe i'll get acustomed to them with a second veiwing). But the second half settled down to follow the main plot much more clearly. I thought that the CGI was OUTSTANDING! (Even by Futurama's high standards) the Decapodian ships were incredible! I loved the scene involving a decapodian soldier stealing the attack plans from Zaps ship dressed as a human (with oven mitts hiding his claws)
The blink-&-you'll-misss-it joke with the Clinton Monument (from A Head in the Polls) getting the top chopped off (that's a penis joke). This was a great episode with enough originality to make it more than average, but a couple of flaws that stop it from being perfect.

I think this episode is awesome. (Not that it appeared on screen just now in Germany, but I didn't know about this site before).
It shows what a lot of people know, but are afraid of telling. It's the knowledge that freedom, as it is told us, does not exist, neither in the U.S. nor in the rest of the world.
M. Groening managed to show this at a parody like way by looking on the -sometimes exaggerated- kind of american patriotism.
I don't want to sound critical about that, but it's a fact that in Futurama (as in Simpsons as well) the staff, leaded by Groening, is criticizing some important countries of our world and therefore the (different) political systems.
That's what I like Futurama for, and I'm very sorry to hear that it's not produced anymore. Sorry to sayy so, but the main part of the people is not smart enough to check what's behind the series.
Futurmaa 4ever!

P.S. To all non-english fans: Please, take the original version, no translating!

The beginning was rather funny, Zoidberg and Fry dancing and then the party (poor Hermes XD *bwahaha*) and the hot tub.
But then it went downwards and ended up really boring, for my tastes. though seeing zapp as a slave made me happy.>D

Folks, I love Futurama, but this is undoubtedly the worst episode that has been made. The writing is so awkward and forced - the first time I saw it, I honestly assumed it had been written by a contest winner. If you're new to Futurama, don't judge it by this episode. Go watch the Anthologies of Interest instead, or the Time Stop episode.

One of my favorites. Zoiberg is a character overlooked some much, but when he is used in one of the ideas you gotta love it. Since he is one of my favorite characters it's a five.

FRY: Zoidberg, how could you? And i used to think you were cool.

P.S. Zoidberg is cool, Fry.

I agree with SRM on this one. Techinically I don't like Zoidberg too much, it was a heavy episode and harsh propaganda. Yeah the camera should have focused more on Leela and Amy being topless. When they were being enslaved by those shrimps, where did Amy dissapear to? I'm confused....

i watched this ep for the nth time last night. Old Man Waterfall is the true hero. By daring to burn the flag in a flag-eating caused disaster, he almost single-handedly was able to liberate earthicans from decapodian enslavement. His last words were I demand a satanic funeral. In the course of the ep we find out he's a patriotic veteran that will go to extremes to secure the right of everybody to do as they please. We learn during the course of events that he is a poligamist, married to another man, and anally inclined. Its like a friend of mine who is black, cuban and jewish, I mean, do you see the irony?

great ep. gets better eveytime i watch it again

Holy HELL did this episode wallop some ASS! I'm not even kidding, this is my favorite episode of all time I don't understand how it could get bad reviews. Too many incredible gags to count, but I'll try here:

* nude Freedom Day hot-tubbing
* the very CONCEPT of Freedom Day
* Nixon's hypnosis of the Earthican public into loving Charleston Chew (I always thought it was tobacco for some reason)
* "I'm all scuttled out"
* Old Man Waterfall?????
* The Decapods' ship cutting the apex off the Clinton Monument
* "A red lobster that won't ruin your dinner, Dr. John Zoidberg"

Every second of 4ACV05 is another laugh. A+++(A+++)
