I really loved this episode! The humor is really great. And also, I find it very cool to see the PX-guys in their child/teenager-years. And we get to see some Fry-Leela romancing going on too... Can't wait for the episode where they finally give in to their love! Next week is The Why of Fry, so this is gonna be a long week i'm afraid...

I shall write the first REAL review of this episode, or at least I hope I get to. The beginning was funny, except for Professors driving thing. Being in Florida was great.

"Oh no! It tasted human blood!"

The spa also had its moments.

"Hi professor"
"GO TO HELL!"

In the tar pit, well after the tar pit, I loved seeing a fat Amy. Serves her right for making fun of Leela. Zoidberg was as funny as Hell.

And then the conversation between Bender and the Professor, laughs galore.

When the Professor was talking to Leela about her age, I literally laughed my ass off. Now I need surgery.

"Without the bacteria, you'll have to grow into your age, JUST AS GOD INTENDED!"

When they were all younger I was waiting for a clever joke, besides the Prof's 70's talk, and Zoidberg came through.

"You mean I'll have to go through all my larval stages?"

When they were all finally rescued, except the Professor, and the gargoyle rescued him, I thought I would see something clever. I did. I stood up and clapped at the ending. A solid episode. Clamps gives it 5 out of 5.

Zoidberg is a slug, then a trilobyte, then an oyster, then a lamprey, a fish, then an urchin, then a sea anemone, then finally a coral (and ages back into a starfish?

Wow. This is the first time they've shown Futurama in months, so I was hoping for a good episode. And it really was; Futurama, in its constant zaniness, outshines The Simpsons's current episodes by far. I loved the floating Eiffel Tower at the end!

One of the funniest episodes. Love the old driver jokes (face touching windsheld and turn signal always on). Amy was FAT and Bender turn into a blueprint CD, hahaha. Isnt Bender suppose to be 4 year old and was full size at birth?

Great episode. This one was funny more for its visuals than its dialog, although there was some great humor as well. The only detracting part was the race, but it was still good enough not to drop the episode to a four.

I thought the episode was undermined by the bizarre ending--though the little baby gargoyle was cute. I also thought that Leela's dilemma wasn't much of a dilemma from a dramatic standpoint; the peril of episodic television is that characters can't change all THAT much. However, the rest of the show was top notch--the awkward teenage romance was great, and little baby Bender is the most nauseatingly cute thing EVER. But why is Leela more open to Fry's advances now? I thought it was pretty clear that she had spurned him by the end of "Time Keeps On Slipping." Ah well, still a grand episode.

That was one of the better episodes I've seen in a while. The Professor in his younger stages really made this episode, and Zoidberg going through his larval stages was priceless. My roommate right now is still trying to get over the concept of "Ultra-porn". This is pure Futurama right here.

Saw it on Fox. I keep wondering what the fox people got by canceling futurama! I especially liked the part:
Prof. Farnsworth: "angry crotchety grandpa dicount card",
Waitress: "sir it's expired"
Prof: "but it's good for a lifetime",
Waitress: "Well, your's is expired!"

hehehe! They made lotsa jokes about old people - made me crack up all the time. :Prite your review here.

And then i like it when bender gets those braces as an early teen robot...

and then i love it when fry, amy and hermes get even smaller in to wombs/placental sacs and then bender becomes just an activation disk!

Hahaha! I couldn't hide snickering and cracking up!!

What a great episode! I cannot think of anything that really bugged me enough to register my disgust throughout the world. I was soo happy to see Leela's parents in a really funny part. Classic Zoidberg all the way plus I never realized that Bender could be soo cute as a kid(the line about Benders RNA was perfect).
And didn't teenage Fry and Leela make such a cute couple? It's not enough to make me wish I was 14 again, but it's close!

Decent episode, although to me, it wasn't up to the usual level. The graphics were great but everything else seemed lacking. Some scenes were great (the professor and Zoidburg really stood out in this episode) but others (especially those with Hermes and Amy and the whole race thing) seemed tacked on and forced.

Anyway, i hate to be the unpopular one, but the way things are going maybe it's not such a bad thing that Futurama is ending. True, it's still much better than anything else on television, but it's seems to be losing it's edge and i for one would rather have 4 incredible seasons and a movie than 4 incredible seasons, 2 lackluster seasons and a horrible season. "The Devil's Hands are idle playthings" is supposed to be a "last episode" so at least we get that (so many series don't get an ending) and MG sounds pretty serious about a movie.

I'll have to rewind it to catch the final line--Pazuzu's accent's way too thick--but other than that, a damn-near-perfect episode, a nice balance of 'shippy and trippy.

Poor Amy. Y'know, she's adorable even when she's tubby. Oh, hell, they were all adorbale. I wanted to adopt Zoidberg, why not?

Very good! I think it was the funniest episode so far this season. I like how the characters stayed in character while still being kids. The plot was good and for the first time Leela's parents weren't annoying. I liked all the scenes in the sewers (they seemed cooler in this episode) and all the kiddish antics. Leela's little dilemma at the end wasn't necessary because she could just go back to the tar pit if she wanted to be young again, couldn't she?

Best parts: Fry's voice breaking, "That's detention", Ultraporn, the Professor's various looks and dialog, Bender's motorcycle scene, Fry and Leela's date (although I think she just went out with him to get the "full teenage experience").

The whole gargoyle thing was weird, but I'm glad it came back near the end of the episode and wasn't just a pre-plot. I also don't know what happened at the very end because I couldn't quite make out what the gargoyle said.

Too off the wall.
The last two have been "Hey- what if the futurama cast a) were superheroes b) got younger"
It's a sign of a lacking in fresh plots that are stable. Still, it had some good parts- especially Zoidberg. Of the new season I still prefer A Taste of Freedom.

#51 Splee ---

I agree with those sentiments. The past two have been more of a an extend "what if..." episode.

However, I honestly feel that this is one of the funniest episodes of Futurama that I have seen in a while. Although several of the past episodes this season have been rather "emotional," I feel that many of them were not as funny as they ought to be.

Then, we get this episode, which is nowhere near as emotional as, say Jurrasic Bark or perhaps 'thought-proviking' as A Taste of Freedom. However, it delivers on where Futurama has been lacking recently --- good humor.

Honestly, I found myself laughing more at this episode than I have for any other episode this season.

Anyways, on the whole, the episode fared far better than what I had initially expected. A more of a light-hearted fun episode than what next week will be. Also, I enjoyed the fact that there was some sort of explanation of why they were getting younger, rather than just getting younger (see Less than Hero... never explained how the cream gives them super powers).

Anyways, overall, it is a great episode

Classic! Full of humor and pathos. Highlights for me:

*The Florida billboard.

*The nurse at the spa.

*Bender having a little too much fun with the pump.

*Amy coping--or not--with her chubby stage.

*Hermes looking like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air--and actually acting cool for a change!

*Leela deciding to make the best of things--with gusto! Actually a lot in character, since she was really lonely as an orphan teen.

*Any scene with 14-year-old Fry and Leela. The two make a really sweet couple.

*Leela has the coolest parents in the world. ("Bring some beer!" "Not until you finish your tequila!")

*Zoidy's BIZARRE larval stages.

*How kawaii Amy looked as a child.

*The whole Fountain of Aging concept.

*A chibi-fied child Bender.

*Farnsworth as a young hippie.

*Farnsworth as a little child.

*Being saved by a gargoyle, and narrated by a gargoyle ("and that's how I earned my freedom!")

Just three objections:

*Why couldn't Farnsworth have stayed young and not crotechy?

*Bender doesn't have any lines after becoming a child, and you'd think he'd have been like a robotic Bart Simpson as a kid.

*I'd have LOVED to have seen Leela's big beautiful breasts pop out back into her tank top while in the fountain of aging, but we see her at age 14 one minute and then age 25 the next.

Alas, you can't have everything. A solid 5 out of 5!

I saw this one as particularly weak and more jokes than usual were predictable down to the actual words (verbatum). Professor Farnsworth is my favorite character, usually I am laughing at everything he says. But for an episode surrounding him, it fell short. This episode was below average for Futurama. Definitely one of the best episodes I have seen. Just something about time stories makes me interested (one of my favorites is 'Roswell that Ends Well.') The crew made good use of period clothing (Fry and Leela's wardrobe and datigin experience was like something out of 'American Graffiti.'

The Professor not wholly enjoying his newfoun youth, notably the point that his social security checks are not going to be coming in.

Amy is cute no matter how chubby and fat she was. I have a cousin who went through a reverse of what Amy did: my cousin was thin at 13 and then got quite chubby now in her early 20's.

Also loved how Leela had to keep correcting her parents on what it means to be parents of a teenager (and that goofy grin when Fry comes to the door of her parent's house still makes me smile). Plus Leela's as a babysitter was also good (and the freckles were a cute addition). Still, it would have been kind of funny to see if Fry could have snuck Leela off to the sewer version of 'lover's lane' and then got caught (not like THAT, of course). But still the swerve of the boat to keep his hands off was good (I've gotten the occasional shoulder shrug off so I know how Fry felt).

As for the 'Leela-a-poppin' that the past few posters have been talking about. Leela was still wearing the same size shirt as before. If you look closely, it looks 'looser' when she deages. Though the one thing that bugged me was that once everyone had supposedly returned to their normal age, they found themselves in ripped garments (so much for the obligatory putting things in the way to hide from the censors). I was so hoping for something close to Amy's famous 'spa scene.'

The downside was there was no indication of a new episode next week or so. Just more and more dribble about how great the season premiere of 'The Pitts' is going to be. Saw it, and didn't enjoy it half as much as Futurama.

Jeez, this episode is bringing back all kinds of memories of my past. Too bad I'm graduated from college and no longer dependent on my Dad.

A very good episode, despite the fact that it is a very gimmicky one. Professor Farnsworth was downright hilarious in this episode -- this has to be one of his best to date. The race scene was very well crafted and rendered, and Fry and Leela as teens was very cute. Bender's adolescent angst with the Professor was very amusing, though I felt so bad for the poor robot when Professor shot him down. And Zoidberg! What a nut.

I suppose that the ending involved some of that "hardcore nudity" they promised for this season, eh? :)

I didn't think this episode was great, but still better than "Less Than Hero". Dr. Zoidberg's transformations were absolutely hilarious, but I didn't like what the animators decided to do with Bender. We've seen when he was "born", and he should have looked exactly the same as he does now!!

Sigh... seeing the DVD release of Season One again, I really wish they would've gotten back to doing Planet Express deliveries to mysterious planets, not crazy experiments. The show is still funny, and it's a shame knowing it is cancelled. But even so, I'm sensing wasted potential.

Solid laughs throughout. I thought the highlight would be the Professor calling for his demon gargoyal while driving at 35 M.P.H. through space ("Because we've in a hurry!") "Pazuuzuu! Paaaazuuzuuuu!". Then - Zoidberg began to regress causing me to miss much dialog and guaranteeing a second, third and 154th viewing.

The only weak moment was the gargoyal at the end and his ominous "Yes, do have a bonne nuit". Interesting as a possible series 5 foreshadow, but seemed out of place after 22 minutes of hilarity.

Good humer. The proffesor was funny in this episode, "My thong!!". It was funny how Amy is fat as a little kid. Didn't expect that. Zoidberg turning into all of those phases were hilarious. Especcially when he was budding new little Zoidbergs and that one died in the pool! Just a perfect episode!!!!!

Best of the season so far. Second best would be Jurassic Bark. It was great to see the Planet Express crew in their childhood years. It was really funny too. It was nice to see Fry and Leela on a date and God was Amy HOT at the end. This episode got my five points. It was a great episode with lots of humor. This is what I want to see for Futurama's last season. Classic Futurama. They make every last episode of the season great just like this one. Can't wait for the Why of Fry. Once again Whooooo was Amy HOT!

Brilliant! So good to see a new one on FOX again! And this episode was hilarious. I like how Bender had braces when he was young, and when they kept getting younger he became a disc "Bending Robot Blueprints" and the death of Zoidberg's twin brother was so funny! My favorite line was still "Hi professor my name is Heather." "GO TO HELL, HEATHER!" Classic.

Funny episode.

Although I must admit I didn't quite get the Ultraporn Joke (maybe an USA insider? I live in Germany).

The highlights of the episode:
- The metamorphosis stages of Zoidberg
- Pazzuzzu the gargoyle is a great new character
- Bender changing back to a CD with blueprints
- The professor with his different styles and hairstyles

The also morphing Bender (with braces altough he does not have teeth) was really good, altough I thought he was only 4 years old and built as adult bending unit... how shoud a robot grow and age anyways?

Overall: really funny one. Together with Less Than Heroes the funniest episode of the season.

One of the better, more solid episodes in the series. Actually, I'd rate it an easy 4.3. Zoidberg in his deformulative stages was great & Farnsworth as a disco swinger and 60's hippie was fantastic. Not a Bender heavy episode yet still held its ground. A little bit of Bender goes just as far in my opinion. As for the very last scene- explosive! It's a shame that Fox feels the need to can this program, yet still pump out garbage like The Pitts and Bernie Mac. Hopefully, UPN or WB will pick it up.

It was great to watch to watch Futurama on television again. The epesoid was excellent much better than the last epesoid in my opinion (which I felt would have been better suited as a tale from an Anthologies of Interest Epesoid). I so pleased with epesoid that I didn't watch King of the Hill or Futurama in fear that they would ruin my memory of the Futurama epesoid.

Great setup, hilarious scenes with the younger PX crew (especially Fry and Leela's date), and more of Leela's parents, who I consider great characters. Farnsworth couldn't say one thing without being at least a little bit funny (Because we're in a hurry!/Damn good meat!/Pre-life, then death/Head of the FBI), Zoidberg's constant morphing was hilarious and the rest of the crew weren't too bad either. This wasn't the best Futurama I've ever seen, and it is far from the worst. It lies in that uncomfortable neutral zone. A brilliant concept, dumbed down by a poor main plot/character developement. Even the Leela story was completely underutilized (even though I would not have liked it, either way). Every plot/subplot seemed to be overdone, and when put together, there was too much to really enjoy about the episode, so the end result is a mixed one. I love the idea of the characters "unaging", if you will, but it wasn't used to it's fullest comedy potential. Overall, 3.

Production Season 3 has been my favourite for a while now, but episodes like this make me think that Production season 4 is shaping up to be even better (although we wont be able to judge until Fox finally get around to showing them all!). This episode is brilliant from start to finish! Not a single duff joke or dull moment (not that there usually is on Futurama!) The 3D animation in this episode is especially good, the race scene, and the space highway stand out in particullar. The script was just so funny! seeing the crew as children was funny, cute, and also touching (Frys teenage voice was very well done). Leela's parent were funnier than usual, and Zoidberg and Bender have never been better! I could go on listing every great moment in this episode but this site wouldn't have enough file space!

As with Less than Hero, and Jurassic Bark (the two other great episodes this season, so far)) this episode ranks as one of Futurama's all time greats!

I'm really surprised that this episode is being rated so highly. 'Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles' was one of the worst, if not THE worst episode of 'Futurama'. When I first read the episode description I thought it'd be bad, but I gave it a chance. I didn't think it'd be this awful, though.

It started off well - the scene with the Professor driving was great (although jokes about the aged were pulled off better in early Simpsons episodes), but as soon as everyone was youthed, it just became stupid. Young Hermes and Amy might as well have not been there (and Amy's parents - usually great characters - didn't have one funny line). The baby Bender didn't make sense, and although the idea of Leela wanting to experience her teenage years properly was a nice idea, it was pulled off awfully. I usually like her parents, too, but they didn't make me laugh once in this episode.

Zoidberg's transformations were a good - if overused - idea, though.

I think my main problem with this episode (apart from the lack of jokes) was that it was more fantasy than science fiction. You can say that they were youthed with tar and chronotrons if you like, but it might as well have been a wizard. And what about the fountain of ageing? Hardly original.

The race scene was a waste of time, too.

After a terrible season 4, I had been thinking that season 5 was a bit better, but this episode really pulls it down. Surely an episode with as great a premise as 'The Why of Fry' can't be bad, can it? Can it? I'll find out soon enough..

My idea about Pazuzu and the end. Pazuzu and his child (?) are obviously on the roof of Notre Dame in Paris (hence the floating Tour Eiffel). Although the angle is kinda wierd since the Eiffel tower is much taller than Notre Dame. Also you can hear the church bells ringing the Futurama theme. Some of the worlds most famous gargoyles are carved in stone at Notre Dame. So the end is probabaly just to explain where Farnsworth could've gotten a gargoyle from. And the Bonne Nuit and the glowing eyes are to warn you about the danger of gargoyles in Paris around Notre Dame at night.

One of the best episodes ever, very interisting concept, and seeing how all the P.E. people were young. Im surprised that so many of you gave this one a 5; I didnt like it very much. It didnt have a real plot, it was more like "Hey, lets make them all younger and create some funny situations". This one could have been funny, if they had put it into one of the What-if-episodes, but as a "real" story, its just not good enough.
Also, it didnt make sense, that Bender became a child too. Zoidbergs larval stages were a funny idea, but the writers overused them.

There were some good laughs though and the opening scene was funny. Also, I liked the very last picture, where we see the big gargoyle staring eerily into the "camera", while the little one beside him only looks cute and innocent.

This episode is really great as you get to see what all the characters were like as kids (well youngish adults in Farnsworth's case!!)

This was one of the best episodes of Futurama that I've seen a long time. the jokes were good. The race scene(i think) was the best use of 3D animation and so was the scene when Farnsworth was looking for Pazuzu the gargoyle and he had the high beams on the ship and destroying a satillite. Amy and Leela's parents were funny in this episode. I think this good episode and this my review.

This gets a five of five, but it would only get a nine of ten. It's not as good as "Jurassic Bark" or "The Sting" or, in my opinion, "Time Keeps Slippin'"; but all the same, it's pretty fantabulous. Zoidberg...for goodness sakes, every time ya see him he's something different, begging the question, "Just what is the adult Zoidberg anyway? What the heck are his people?"

"Zoidberg's dead!" "No, Zoidberg's brother is dead...."

First-class comedy, and loved the bit about Leela living with the 'rents and Fry trying to date her, especially since Fry apparently got no better at communicating with the opposite sex between the ages of 13 and 25!!!

Well, I hate to be a spoilsport, but this is one of my two least favourite episodes. Apart from Zoidberg's amusing larval stages and a couple of good lines, I didn't really find anything else even remotely funny- and the storyline was as cliched and overused as you can get in cartoons (with a few futurama updates, I admit).

I'm not saying its appauling tv- its just simply not up to the high standard set by the rest of the four series.

This was a really awesome episode. It was cool seeing Bender being premoture as the parts in a box then blueprints on a cd, being a baby with like the smallest arms u could have, then when he's a toddler he has 2 small satellites (or something) out of his head, then the spinners on his anttenea, and the braces, then when he's a teenager he has braces (he looks the same except the braces). But there's some parts that really I hated like when Zoedburg was a parisite and was sucking on the Proffeser's blood. I'm like DID WE NEED TO SEE THAT?! and the end I don't get that part ether.
But This was a great episode. BRAVO MATT!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit this, one of my many favorites. I loved when Morris said he would be the most strict parent there was but then offers Leela Tequila. Though it was extremely heart-touching with Leela and her parents, wanting to have a normal childhood it was also extremely funny. Adored the fountain of aging idea. One thing that bothers me, how do Morris and Munda react when Leela sneaks off? Do they know that she would of or did they even find out? What happens with their relationship with their daughter? Are they dissapointed with her or what? They left me in the dust after this and it's driving me mad and i want to find out. Whenever Groening is making a new season (if thats ever gonna happen) he must not leave out an episode with her godforsaken parents and their reaction to their daughter sneaking out like that.

This is what futurama is all about. A funny show with some underlying sentimental parts. This one was mostly funny and that's good bc we rarely ever get to see amolst only funny ep's, but the fact that Leela gave up her childhood with her parents who she never got to be with to save her friends just added to it and made it the second best one of all time, in my mind behind godfellas

I LOVE this episode. There is never a weak moment from beginning to end. It's my all-time favorite.

Leela: "Professor! This ship can go 98% the speed of light, why are we going 30 miles an hour?"
Fonsworth: "Because we're in a hurry! That's why!"

Heather: "Sir, it's not necessary or wise to be naked"
Fonsworth: "Pfft, you sound just like my tennis instructor"

Fonsworth: "Ahhh this is a waste of time! I have to go to the market and buy a single piece of fruit with a coupon, making people wait behind me while I complain."

Afro Fonsworth: "DAY-AMMN!"

Baby Fry: "Eww you smell like smoking...and drinking"
Hippy Fonsworth: "I've had a few beers but I'm cool to drive"

Fonsworth: "The devil take this predictable colon!"

There's plenty of others, but I'm sure you see the pattern. First time I saw this episode I was hysterical, rolling around on the floor almost any time the Professor spoke

There is no referance to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in here at all! The writers must have thought they couldn't resist the chance just to stab a joke at them. But, if there is no referance in the episode itsself, it is a waste of time. Not very funny at all.

The only comfort I have is that it is a good storyline.

It's funny...altough this isn't a Bender-heavy episode it's one of this characters all-time best performances.

The scene where he starts pumping and pushes himself to pump harder is great but his second scene is probably my favourite Benderscene ever.

- I'm Tired of your yapping!!! All you ever do is complain you never try to make things better.

But the best thing about that scene is when Bender turns down his bike and dissapointedly says:

really liked this ep it was extremely well done also the writing and animation was brilliant. it was clever how the different characters changed when they turned 14 i loved fat amy she was really funny and giving fry a squeky voice was clever and comedic. Kudos to the voice actors especially billy west and john dimaggio cause they both did young bender and young fry themselves. leela wanting a childhood and her parents screwing it up all the time was interesting and a good side story.the directing was very good as was the animation (it was so good i thought i would mention it twice) go rough draft. it was the first ep i watched when i got the season 4 box set. i highly rate it. anyone who didnt like it can bite my shiny metal ass.

futurama!this episode is more like superama!everything was hilarious.my best part was this:
Driver:hey grampa!move your wrinkly old keister!
Proffesor:(5 seconds later)shut up!
Leela:proffesor, this ship can go 900000 light speed, why are we going 30mph?
Proffesor:because were in a hurry thats why!i'm stopping off for a coffee(or something like that)
Fry:but i thought we were looking for pazuzu!
Proffesor:my wha?
this episode was great.the crew in their younger forms.bender's rebellious yet childish persona.leela jerking the hovercraft away from fry when he tried to get lucky, the proffesors crazy antics, and the best plot since the farnsworth parabox.this episode definetly needs to be remembered.5.9 points

One of the best (if not the best) episode of Futurama. 5/5 You'll laugh your head off every time you see it. If you only watch one episode of Futurama your whole life, this is the one to watch! (Well this and maybe the first episode, other wise it could be confusing)

Oh, God, what a side-splitting episode. Absolutely, 100% comic gold from start to finish. Hpw can you say no to this episode with quotes like;
"Unless you're treated soon, the only way to restore you to your true age would be for you to grow into it- JUST AS GOD INTENDED!..."
"You can stop winning now. We've won."
"Question."
"Yes?"
"you stink! Heeheeheeheeheehee..."

You've gotta love those, or you're just NOT human.

(What are you, from Omicron Persei 8?" :)

Probably the last truly great Futurama episode, the writers did just about everything right:

They got a good basic idea ("Let's get everybody young!") but, and that's an important but, they didn't leave it at that.

They worked with it.

So what we got at the end was a strong, dynamic main plot, a substantial subplot tying in, with lots of things happening all around while mantaining a logical structure and a coherent narrative.

Why don't we get more of these?!

The ending is a bit weird, but still a great Futurama episode. The Professor owned this one; his lines were the best. But a lot of great little details too, like Zoidberg's larval changes, or Hermes with his Kid n' Play style fade at the end. I almost passed out laughing at that.

This, along with The Series Has Landed and The Lesser of Two Evils, is one of the funniest Futurama episodes ever to air. Futurama, and this season in particular, is known for being more dramatic than the average comedy. But, Futurama is still a comedy, and, as much as everybody loves the emotional episodes, it's nice to see an occasional one that does nothing but make you laugh. And this is the best of those episodes. It has some great quotes ("No littering; keep our sewers beautiful" "'Here's a whiskey.' 'Dad, I'm underage!' 'Oh. Here's a silly straw!'") but the thing that makes it really funny is the atmosphere. I'm a writer, and one of my favorite techniques for comedy is writing generally witty dialogue with no real punch-lines. In many ways, this is much harder than one-liners, because it requires real flow between dialogue with no peak, which is hard to accomplish. This episode has some of the best examples of that dialogue I've ever seen. Overall, it's a great episode, and one of the funniest, if not the most dramatic.
