Nice little satire of technology. Good lines. Fry's "You know too much" to the toilet cracked me up.

Best Episode of the season yet. Leela's secret.....oh, man, I haven't laughed that much in a month. That was classic!! Craig Fergusion should get an Annie, an Emmy, and an Innie just for accepting this part. LOL!!!!!!! Yes, and the eyePhone plot was funny and all too telling for today's society. As well as a new classic line with Fry and the Japanese toilet.

Futurama has lost all heart and continuity in the transition to Comedy Central. References to the "boil" and iPod seem to date the episode immediately, and the goat joke seemed horribly "non-Futurama-ish." (Yes, I realize Susan Boyle and the iPod are not out-dated yet, but I can still watch Season One without it feeling stale. The same will inevitably not hold true here.)

Finally, after a horrible ending to In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela, the writers made no attempt to explain the relationship that now exists between Fry and Leela. Supposedly they are no longer dating? Regardless of whether the two are now "together," the interplay between the two has always been central to the series, and the "heart" of the show is what has differentiated it from other programming. I would prefer the show suffer from a loss of humor over suffering a loss of character.

Absolutely perfect!!! I couldn't believe how great this was. I was getting a little nervous after the first two episodes, but now I'm totally confident that this season will be just as good as the others. Can't wait til next week!

I agree mostly with #5.

The whole "boil" thing reminded me way too much of a bad South Park episode and the feel that Leela and Fry are "just friends" again seems just cheap. They were a couple for two damn episodes and they're back to the same place they were last season.

On the up-side, some of the iPhone jokes are well done and the Japanese toilet was a good example of crude humor done right. Though, Twitter jokes really need to go away, they got old a long, long time ago.

The show has changed. It now feels like 'the simpsons', and it no longer has originality and heart, which is what made the original series so great.
the old episodes were timeless, these ones now seem to just be mocking todays society.
i am saddened.

Funny plot, after reading the overview of the episode, I was curious as to what the embarassing video of Leela would be. I was definately not expecting the boil thing hahaha
I loved the return of Flexo, and the goat with 2 heads. A good episode, but still getting used to the show's slight change.

This episode shows how the series is going down the WRONG road... so many flavor-of-the-month jokes that when we look back at won't be so funny.

Yeah I laughed a few times, but I laugh just as much at Family Guy and they stop being funny after the first viewing... bummer.

This is the best episode of the season yet. The plot was funny and the show seems to be back on track. Although they really haven't sorted out Leela and Fry's relationship it seems as if they are just friends again. Which is fine because we know it works. I wouldn't worry about the future of the show, if you look at the future episodes not all of them are ones like this that might become dated overtime. So far the episode placement might be off but the episodes have still been solid.

I have to agree with almost everyone who has posted before. The show is still good, but it's not the same. If this were the first three episodes of the series, I'd watch it.
But it doesn't live up to what came before. Like has been said before, it has lost its heart. Although, I like the episodes, there was something intangible that I couldn't quite identify about it that seemed wrong, and it's exactly like that. Lost its heart... Now its like a combination of South Park and the Simpsons. And every other "adult" cartoon out there. All in all, it balances out to a solid 3.
As Fry said in 'A Taste of Freedom'
- "You used to be cool."

The show has lost all depth and nerd humor. It was just one giant pop culture episode.
The episodes from season 1 are still funny to this day because there is actually a plot and character development, not some rehashed joke about today's society. It takes place 1000 years in the future!

I agree. The jokes were funny, but not very clever. I miss the aliens, the alien code, the spaceships, the sci fi parodies and all that who I like from 3010.
They are living in the 2010 not in the future in this chapter.

Lots of people on IMDB complaining that Futurama has changed. That is total nonsense! Futurama has always had a vast sense of humor, ranging from extremely intelligent to toilet humor. This episode did such an amazing job poking fun at the everyone's "need" for new technology. Classic in every way.

What have they done to Fry's relationship with Leela? Both him and Leela have acted so out of character for the past two episodes. When you've built two characters up and developed their relationship to a serious point, to have them act like this makes everything feel phony. This episode had some good moments, but it wasn't consistent. I couldn't stand the blatant pop culture references - they cheapen the show and really remove that futuristic element. The show in the past would usually employ more subtlety. A lot in this episode didn't feel very original at all, mostly because much of the plot centered on these these horrible and conspicuous pop culture references. This particular episode made me feel like I was watching a completely different show. The characters felt very one dimensional. I just couldn't feel it - probably my least favorite so far of the new season. The movies were fantastic and so too was the season premiere and Futurama doesn't usually disappoint, so I have high hopes for the next few episodes. I give it a 3, because I'm generous and I'll admit that there were some parts of the episode which were quite good, like the Mom scenes and some pretty good one liners.

First episode of the new season that would feel at home with any of the previous seasons. Absolutely perfect in its timing, jokes per minute (jpm), and overall vibe.

Considering this episode wouldve been written 10 months ago, I think they purposely timed it knowing the june/july iphone cycle. Also the underlying social commentary regarding how pathetic and petty our lust for new gadgets has become is spot on. I think it will be relevant for decades to come, and not age ungracefully as some woud suggest.

I agree the boil/boyle thing couldve been better but at least it didnt take up too much screen time.

This is an episode that gives me hope for futurama's future.

Yes, there have been many episodes about social commentary...but...this one...um.

It fell sorta flat. I get it, I understand the point they were making- the third world, the 'zombies'.

And after watching Leela 'take one for the team' with Zap in the last ep. Sure Fry may feel different, but this just didn't....feel right.

It was nice to see Flexo again.

Has anyone else noticed Farnsworth's doomsday devices have been shown in every ep.?

Three out of five is almost being too generous.

I'm really suprised that this seems to rank higher than the first two eps. of this new season.

I agree with everyone that senses something unfuturamaism about the new episodes.

Episode 3 had some funny scenes but many undeveloped ones such as the flexo bit. Furthermore, I really hated how they incorporated modern susan boyle into it.a ait was simply terrible.

I liked how they look at the future of iphones and twitter but it got boring as they kept on repeating the same jokes.
Average episode.

This episode was such a relief!! I watched it and I really laughed out loud, I havent laughed at the new Futurama episodes/movies since Hermes said "kiss my front butt!!" in BBS. There was good classic Bender, a good goofy/stupid Fry moment, a few actually! Yeah the commentary got old, but look at "I dated a robot", Napster - Kidnapster, and you know Beck and Bestie Boys, those are our century dated as well. But they still are good! Maybe the writers were sending a message, they are technology smart people, the message/moral of the story is good! Plus - no time travel or flash backs in this episode and they cut down on the raunchy humor. I found the butt boil gross and goofy. I mean they needed to think of something bizarre to embarrass Leela with! She is a mutant after all. The best of the new season. STAY THE COURSE!

This episode wa strange, unconventional, and a bit unorthodox. WHilst there was the occasional good joke in there, the traditional futurama feel to the episodes has been lost. IT felt like it was trying too hard to connect with today's society, forgetting that it is a show based 1000 years in the future. Whilst it wasn't bad, I hope the rest of the new episodes reignite the old futurama flame that we all miss.

I think this episode along with the other episodes are quite good. I must agree that episode 2 was a bit under par but I beleive that this is due to the fact that I have been anxiously waiting for episodes ever since they announced theyd be back.... baby.

I think peoples anticipation of futurama has put the episodes on a level that would be very hard to reach to satisfy the very hungry audience. I think as soon as we are used to having futurama back we will all be very happy with what is shown.

People complain about these episodes but these three episodes are still a hell of alot better the most of the crap on TV and I for one am Happy that this show is finally back... baby.

I'll post the same impressions here that I did over on Peelified.

Absolute crap. Hated it. The goat thing wasn't funny in the least, just grossness for grossness sake. The Boil thing was possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen in a Futurama. The first act was decent, but thats about all I can say.

People are comparing it to Family Guy because it was like Family Guy. End of story.

I'm sorry, but the 2 people who thought this was a 10 out of 10 Futurama episode must be out of their minds.

I'll give the next couple of episodes a shot, but it's getting to the point I'd rather just put in a DVD of the old show and abandon this mess.

Oh yeah, and Mom's creative use of profanity in the old series? Funny. Saying 'you bastard' 10 times in an episode? Not so much.

The episode had a good amount of jokes, though some misses at the same time too, but overall I thought the Iphone and Twitter future parodies were very good in the first half. However, the episode went way downhill after the Susan Boil "Leela" part, enough for me to drop the rating down to 3 points. I was like "Oh no they didn't!?" when that part came up! Seriously? That's the best they could think of for an embarrassing Leela video?

It's not the Fry and Leela relationship putting me off, as I'm used to that happening way back in the original run, but seriously that Boil thing was one of the worst things I've ever seen done on this show! This is not Family Guy or South Park, it's Futurama! Please keep it that way!

Some of the reviewers here are talking about how they don't like the 'pop culture' references. Seems they need to remember that season one referenced the movie 'Armageddon' in 'A Big Piece of Garbage' and 'Ally McBeal' in 'When Aliens Attack'. Then there was 'A Flight to Remember'. Gee, no cultural references there, just the highest grossing film of all time!

Futurama has used current pop culture in many a great ep.

I'm not one to use flippant hyperbole at all, so when I say 'WORST. EPISODE. EVER' I mean it.
There are a handful of jokes that work, but it's by far the least funny thing Futurama have ever produced.
Add onto that, the God-awful plot. It plays out like part 1 of a 2 part episode but we're not getting part 2. There's absolutely no conclusion to about 4 things, some of which will mess with continuity. It actually gets quite interesting, and then it just ends without any sort of resolution.
I really, really, really hope the rest of the season picks up.

I don't see how Futurama is "turning into Family Guy" after this episode. I thought the episode was brilliantly written, extremely funny, and a beautiful fit with the original 72 episodes. Hell, I even thought the Susan Boil joke was funny. The episode also did a very good gob of explaining the current status of the Fry-Leela relationship. Good news everyone: Futurama's BACK!!!!!

This was a superb episode after the first two less-than great starters. Plenty of humor and real-world parodies (my boyfriend has an iPhone and the in-jokes just killed me here), and more importantly the characters were acting the way they used too. Fry being an idiot and making it up, Leela being the environmental crusader (well for a few moments anyway). I feel like the writers are getting their stride back. Not quite Jurassic Bark, but its getting there.

Really funny episode, with an emotional hook (Fry and Leela) to give it a bit more resonance and elevate it to higher levels than your run-of-the-mill gag-driven episode. Keep it up, writers, because I'm loving this season so far.

The best of the new season: the first episode had too much plot in it and the second one had an odd structure (which is not nescessarily bad, but since it's the beginning of the new run, it was confusing). So far I think the new episodes hold up quite well against the older ones: they aren't the best things futurama, but neither are they worst, or even close to that.

It feels as though people who are criticising the new episodes barely remember the old show: There has always been an abundance of weird, wacky, disgusting, dirty and even current episodes (especially the enviromental ones). If all the new episodes are like this, it'll be a drop in the overall quality, but as long as the season will be balanced, there's nothing wrong with the episode.

This episode was definitely better than the previous two, and continues an upward arc in the quality of the new season.

A few comments, both on this episode and in general:

- It's still a bit too frenetic - the best episodes of both Futurama and The Simpsons took some time to let their jokes sink in before moving on.

- I'm still not a fan of either the goat or the boil. I wouldn't go so far as to say the show has become South Park or Family Guy, but the gross-out jokes just aren't that clever, or funny. One-off humor in this vein can be funny without being overwhelming... but my impression is that the creators (either on their own or at the behest of Comedy Central) have tried to make the show "edgier" with the shift in networks, and have tried to force all those edgier jokes into the first few episodes, rather than dole them out more sparingly. I suspect that the quantity of these jokes, rather than just them being unpleasant, is the problem here.

- I didn't think the topicality was that bad. Sure, Twitter and Facebook are easy targets, but the show actually had some funny things to say about the internet as a whole, using them as a foundation: for example, the 2 second Hypnotoad clip was entertaining, as were the various ads. Futurama is always at its best when coming up with this kind of witty humor and even if we've forgotten about both ten years from now, I don't think this was a wasted effort.

Overall, the show still hasn't (re-)found its groove, but the fact that it's trending upwards at least suggests that the first few mis-steps are an aberration, or maybe a learning curve, rather than a "new direction" for the series. I'm more optimistic now that Futurama is heading in the right direction and that once it gets more comfortable with the lack of obvious boundaries on Comedy Central, it won't feel the need to test them as much.

A hilariously episode with lots of great jokes as well as an emotional core, and I loved the ending with the zombie thing ending in a total anticlimax and a response to the rush to the technology releases of the 21st century... Ofcourse some jokes will be less apparant in the future, but the same thing goes with old eps like the global warming ones and I Dated a Robot.

I think too that old ones were more timeless and new, according these new three, which is quite small amount to justify whole season, are more tied to present and make fun of things from this time. But about episode, i think its the best so far, it was funny and some kind it reached that old futurama, and i liked it. But cos of that timelessness thing i give 4 out of 5. i hope those other new episodes arent so tied in this time

The good:
-The jokes were pretty funny and I actually laughed out loud a couple times
-zoidberg and the prof stay on cue with their respective personalities.

The bad:
-This episode will certainly become stale after everybody is done with twitter, iphone, etc. (Older episodes dont have this problem in my opinion)
-Fry and Leela's relationship has basically become nonexistent again even after we saw them get close in the movies, which is incredibly frustrating
-unfortunately the boil joke seemed very out of place for futurama and reminded me of something out of south park or family guy
-The plot overall was basically a simpsons social commentary in futurama form, which is not what futurama is good at.

Bottom line: Funny but I probably wont watch it again willingly because of its simple jokes and uncharacteristically gross humor. 3/5

I liked most of the episode. I loved the jokes aimed at the iphone and twitter.

Though I though that the boil thing was pretty bad. I didn't really like it, although the voice was great.
They could have easily come up with another embarrassing thing for Leela. (Are you reading this Matt and David?)

The boil gag potentially violates the show's continuity. Of course, knowing the writers, they will probably just pretend it never happened several episodes later.

Still, I felt that it was a good episode and I am looking forward to the next episodes, they sound very promising.

For the people saying that this episode won't feel fresh in a couple years due to the use of Twitter and iPhones, wasn't there an episode in a previous season that dealt with Napster and stealing music? Futurama is not like The Simpsons and Family Guy as far as having current events and trends being the focus, but sometimes they're there.

I feel that this episode was the best of the new season so far, and certainly a better episode than the second one. The goat alien joke was rather un-Futurama-like though, and it felt more like a punchline to a Family Guy episode, and the Susan Boyle/Boil joke did feel rather lame.

I hope the episodes can continue this trend so that the future episodes are even better.

Not a great episode overall. Yeah it had funny moments - the toilet scene as others have pointed out was awesome - but the jokes are going to get old fast. One of the things I like best about Futurama is that I can watch it over and over again with the jokes being just as funny each time. eyePhone jokes won't stay funny for very long.

The boil joke was a complete turn-off for me. Way too South Park for my taste. I understand that some people would really like such jokes but the fact of the matter is that that genre of humor isn't what I look for in Futurama.

I sincerely hope that this isn't a preview of things to come.

I have to disagree with a lot of these reviews, It was niether a great episode or a terrible one. You cant expect a show to come back as amazing as it was in the first few episodes, give them a break. Yeah i think it would have been a better idea to forget about the last "movie" or whatever you want to call it. The show could have made it easier and did what many shows do and have it do nothing to the show but it gave them a starting off point.
On a better note i am disagreeing with negative reviews saying that the show isnt original anymore, we havent seen most of the material and jokes at all before. The jokes are good and show the old futurama.

for this episode specifically i rated a 3 because it wasnt that great and used a bit of lame jokes but it ended out still really funny, the show is just trying to start up again and we will see over the summer that itll get good again

To be honest I would feel utterly surprised if they will win even a single Emmy or Annie Award for the sixth season's episodes if their standards keeps being this low. The Futurama we all fell in love with is still quite far from this so called (and waited) sixth season.
Anyone else noticed that the whole Apple/iPhone plot (and all the jokes coming with it) has been already used in a Simpson episode (can't remember the title atm) was it really necessary to repeat yourself Matt?
I've read reviews of the 2nd episode where people criticized the oversexualized new standards of futurama. Well, I'm no puritan but... anyone else felt that it wasn't really necessary to have Leela's butt closeups spread during the whole second part of the episode? (I won't even mention the whole Boyle/boil thing for there are enough frustrated reviews above mine).
Still, good old Bender saves the day "no one? your mom? shut up? take your pick!".

I really like this episode. Not the best but not nearly the worst. Thought allot of the jokes were funny and the acting & voices were good too. I wasn't really a fan of the boil joke though.

I can see how some people didn't like this episode due to the fact that it was different from regular Futurama, more about pop culture, and the inconsistency in Fry and Leela's relationship but to say that this episode was horrible is an absolute insult.

We are still only three episodes into the new season people. So I'm sure Futurama will deliver to some of the disgruntled viewers.

After watching this episode several times as well as the other 2 in season 6 I have concluded that Futurama may have been better off canceled. The majority of the jokes are simply stale jabs at pop-culture (south park) we've all heard before, the heart is gone and worst of all the characters are flat and played. I loved the old fururama so much and now (pending a complete 180 in writing and storylines) my memories of it will be tarnished with this sub-par drivel they are passing off as Futurama.

I gave this episode a 2 (and its very lucky to get that)

I found this episode very disappointing overall, though it is interesting to see how polarized the reaction here is. In the past, IMHO, one of the best things about Futurama, something that made it itself, was that it really felt like a different world. It was an extension of our world, but it was "futuristic". Things were interpreted and represented but came out differently. As others have mentioned, this episode could pretty easily have been a Simpsons or Family Guy or South Park without any real editing (all three shows have had things as weird as the goat or the eyephone). Indeed, the last two already did shows years ago with people with independently-minded body parts. The eyephone and Twitter stuff was pretty much just how these things are already; no payoff, no jokes here, just a mirror.

Ok people on this site are either real young or out of date with life with the exception of a handful of minds here. Everyone has been complaining about the new episodes cause of the fact that we are in a technology age and Futurama is making fun of the current time but in a 3000 way. hmmm futurama came out in 1999 but the yet internet didnt... yet A Bicyclops Built For Two is about just signing into aol and getting onto the the internet and hermeas was explaining to fry about a video game... straight classic episoode but its no good cause it relates to events that really happened. The people that complain on this website do not like good cartoons.

This episode was super good, but the boil joke was horrid. Even though the boil then made it's way into the plot line, all the other jokes keep this episode from going down to a four. Sure, this episode was full of culture that didn't fit Futurama, it was sill amazing. And c'mon guys, the crew hasn't made a 22 minute episode since 2003, they need to adjust a little back to the regular format, and to those people who STILL thing this season is getting worse and worse, well, you're all "Dumb Bastards..."

This episode was okay, but I felt like it kind of went downhill after the first half. The Eyephone thing was funny enough and seemed enough like the old Futurama thing, but the Susan Boyle thing and the goat and the vomit and diarrhea seemed to insult my intelligence.

These past two episodes (this one and Ina-Gadda-Da-Leela) seemed to have two parts: a semi-intelligent first half, and then it feels like the last fifteen minutes are dedicated to shallow humor for those not intelligent enough to appreciate the first half. It almost feels as if there are two separate writers writing the first and second half of these episodes. Just stick with the intelligent humor, and we'll be fine.

The start was great, eyePhone and everything. It felt like Futurama.

But the singing boil...? Holy zombie jesus, that's not Futurama at all - that's Southpark! It reminded me of the worst episode of Southpark ever, the one with Oprah Winfrey - "A Million Little Fibers". The boil joke was so bad it ruined the whole episode for me. PLEASE, refrain from things like this - I know you're on Comedy Central, but that hopefully doesn't mean you would go so low.

Also, every cartoon these days try to be so random and "oh-so-funny" - they try so hard it's annoying. Family Guy with his stupid flashbacks and weird intermissions... again, PLEASE, do not try to copy that!

Futurama has always been for me the most intelligent western cartoon, don't ruin it, please. The first two episodes were great and - that's the most important thing - "futuramish". So you better stick to that, or I will appear next to your bed every night to haunt you.

So to all the haters of the new episodes take a step back and look at the new content matt groening has provided. Read the comics than re-watch seasons 1 - 4 and tell try to tell me that futurama has changed. All the people that are complaining about indecency and the series being more "perverted" than ever should look at the humor of futurama, because the episode In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela is definitely making fun of anyone who thinks that any of the humor in that episode is to "filthy" or not appropriate, plus once again the series has always been like that try reading the comics. I have just gotten tired of people ragging on the new episodes based completely on the fact that they are new. If people actually looked at the humor in the episodes they would realize how witty some of the jokes really are and where the series is actually going. This episode and the first two were amazing in my opinion I have waited extremely long for these episodes to air. Having read just about every comic in between re-watching every episode I must say I am pleasantly pleased with them.

ohhhh and before i forget for anyone wondering about Fry and Leela im pretty sure the relationship is going to be how every futurama love interest has been. Which is they are in love with each other but (just like in real life) there are like eight other options why just stick to one person. If you need an example look at kiff and amy.

Attack of the Killer App has reminded me of what an average Futurama episode is. That's not to say the episode itself is average (it's quite good), but that it is the standard. AOTKA has reminded me of how strong Futurama is, that its less than classics are still very-high quality and worthy of much praise.

you know what? this episode would actually have been pretty good if two things were changed:

1. rather than have the tub be filled with goat vomit/doodie, it would be filled with some invented 31st century fluid that everyone in the 31st century thinks is gross (like something from planet omicron persei 8 or fermented soylent cola), thus keeping it in the realms of futurama and a little further from that cheap, gross-out humour.

2. leela's embarrasing video could have been something else. that boil thing reminded me way too much of "a million little fibers". trimming her elbow talons or something to do with her sweaty boot rash would have been more appropriate... the boil joke was the most out of character thing I've ever seen on futurama.

overall though, they made it work.

So, so bad. When I saw that Patric M. Verrone was the writer, I hoped it might at least be more Futurama-ish than the previous two episodes. But I just spent ten minutes fighting the urge to give up on the episode out of sheer boredom, during a near-endless stream of 'LOL modern technology' jokes with no spark and no meaningful relation to the world or characters of Futurama, before being woken up by an awful example of mindless gross-out 'humour'. I can only assume the writer(s) realised how incredibly dull the first half of the episode had been, and resorted to the goat thing out of sheer desperation. That was the nail in the coffin, though. I didn't even bother watching the rest of the episode, and I've now given up on one of my favourite TV shows of all time. They haven't managed to retrospectively destroy the early episodes, but they've certainly sullied my memories. I'm not sure whether to never watch Futurama again, or go on a DVD-binge of all the good episodes to cleanse my palate.

Have to concur with #85 Stef . . the exact same plot would have been fine with a significantly lower quotient of GROSS. Used to love Family Guy . . stopped watching it after every post-cancellation ep had to have barfing or something abhorrent for no reason. Don't want to see the same with what has been my favorite show of all time, Futurama! Someone else aptly noted that Futurama always has plenty of gross moments for base humor . . but they usually felt "just right" . . like when the miniaturized crew went inside Fry's ear and were immediately threatened by his finger, Bender freaked out knowing that they weren't safe from his fingers near any orifice ("abandon ship!") . . that's subtle gross humor which was funny and maybe is becoming too much to expect after yet another decade of dumbing-down in our mass culture. This digs a hole even deeper than the obese humanized Bender which is a pretty challenging visual. The overdone build-up for Fry's dive would have been fine if it was a pool filled with flat Slurm left in the sun for too long . . sounds plenty unpleasant to me in a futuristic vein and without having to resort to the word "diarrhea". Otherwise, there was some great humor . . a characteristic insensitivity-followed-by-regret with Fry . . sadly it's just the least-rewatchable Futurama to date. Sure hope that Comedy Central execs aren't tinkering with what was a winning formula . . .

Definitely lacked the trademark Futurama heart.

The previous show told stories about the characters via humor; the humor was nice, but it was the characters that were always at the core.

This felt much more like a feeble attempt at humor via the characters; an attempt to fit in crude humor and as many political jabs and pop-culture references as possible, and if character depth was sacrificed completely to that end, what of it?

Very good episode. I didn't like the boil, the goat vomiting, or mom saying 'you dumb bastard' 5 times, because as others have said they could have easily done something better.

I thought the rest was still fantastic though. Many of the people who are giving it a 1 or a 2 are just being irrational. You are just nerds who complain about any change, as you haven't been outside or talked to anyone in over a year. I bet if I showed you a s3/4 episode that you hadn't seen before, you would make exactly the same complaints. This episode had potential to be a great episode, or at least a good one. Ended up mediocre, to be kind. Reasons why I think so:

1) Goat = disgusting and not funny
3) Pop culture jokes = Not original at all, overused resource
2) Overall jokes rating = Poor
3) Singing boil = WTF???
5) Fry and Leela back to friends = Are you fuckin' kiddin' me?? all character/relationship development lost without any further explanation?? That's just lame

Saved from being a total disaster by a few good things: classic Bender humour, Flexo/japanese toilet scene, Fry doing karate, and I think that's it.

well, i think the new episodes arent that terrible as many people claim, but they could be better.
all three episodes are just average, especially the storyline of the third one. mom's evil plan was some kind of evil standard plan. but thats still okay. not okay was the susan boyle on leelas ass! a talking part of leelas body is a funny idea, but why susan boyle? even the appearence didnt fit into the world of fututama!
In the last episode leelas and frys behaviour confused me because that didnt fit and now this!
These small things destroy the atmosphere of futurama and create an ambivalent impression to me!

I can't shake the feeling that this isn't the same show anymore. Many people have compared it South Park/ Family Guy and I do get that feeling. What made the original show so great was the intellect behind the humor. If you didn't pay attention you might have missed the joke. And that's why I have watched my DVD's more times than I can remember. Now the jokes are just way too obvious. I did laugh a few times at some of the twitter jokes and at the e-cycling scenes, but overall it didn't feel like Futurama. And what's up with Fry and Leela? That was kind of confusing. I love futurama though so I will keep watching regardless.

To be frank, it was a great subject for an episode. Futurama's satirical style easily supported that. However, the Susan Boil[sic] thing ruined the episode for me. I liked it better than the first 2 episodes, BUT hated these two things:

1. Susan Boyle. That was South Park, as others have noted. Not Futurama. Stupid, dated, gross, not funny, and just plain bad. Poor form guys, this "joke" ruined an otherwise superb episode.
2. Fry and Leela's relationship went from them being together to just friends with NO discussion or resolution. VERY poor form and a real diss to the fans of their relationship. The Fry/Leela romance is one of the best written aspects of the show, but this single episode has thrown that away.

I actually didn't mind the goat so much, or the eyePhone humour, as the show has always had dated references (KidNapster, Single Female Lawyer)

This episode was better than the 2nd but still pretty bad.

The constant already dated jokes about the IPhone and Twitter, and the horrid Susan Boil and two headed goat idea leave me very disappointed.

This from the height of the show with classic lines such as "The winner in a quantum finish...no fair you changed the results by measuring it!" and "I'll never love again...of course you will, it's shareware."

The new series feels like poorly done generic toilet humour and pop culture references where they attempt to make everything into a one liner.

Here's hoping against hope that the writing gets better as the season wears on. I can still watch any of the original run Futurama episodes and laugh, as well as find something new that I'd missed before.

As it stands now that I've seen each new episode twice, I've only chuckled once at the chamber of understanding, and laughed audibly once from the "You know too much" Japanese toilet joke.

I was actually surprised to see so many positive reviews for this episode. To me this is a distasteful moment for Futurama. I understand that every show has its flops, and this one, however great, is no exception (The Birdbot of Icecatraz and Mars University being some of my less favored). However, even at it's worst I have always found Futurama enjoyable and there are no episodes I would not watch again.

Although not their best work, I was at relatively happy with Rebirth (loved the Professor's lines in that one) and In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela, but something about this episode just rubbed me the wrong way.

Using current events for humor has never really been Futurama's style, and taking a whole episode mocking the Iphone and Twitter was more like a second rate Family Guy episode than a Futurama plot.

Also, for a show that (despite it's insane basis) keeps relatively grounded idea, having a singing boil as Leela's embarrassing moment
seemed kinda crude, almost like they ran out of time writing.

And then there's the whole Fry-Leela thing being held in limbo after the last couple episodes.

Maybe I've just got hi expectations after a few fairly solid movies and some great episodes (The Sting, Luck of the Fryish, Jurassic Bark, The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings, etc), but it just feels to me like not as much thought went into this one.

Overall, I give it a C-,D+ range. Not the worse thing I've ever seen, but nothing I'm keen to watch again.

I've always loved Futurama and although I'm glad it's back, I think that they are making the same mistakes as in the films - the writers are suffering from under-writing the show.

In the original 72, 2 teams of writers would slave over a script drafting it over and over and nit-picking, plotting and pacing.

In the films, they had less writers, less time and therefore more throwaway gags and less time spent on focusing the script. ITWGY was the most affected, with long rambling lines by Keeler that would have been trimmed.

Now, they've got some new writers (and lost some great old ones) so now Fry/Leela's relationship suffers, we get Family-Guy jokes and stupid endings with no continuity.

Disappointed, but still hopeful.

Don't the writers get it? We don't want to see gross humour and direct sex references! What genius thought it would be clever to have a talking boil? Oh right, Susan Boyle! Hahaha! Yeah, how lame can you get? Two headed goats that puke and cause diarrhea? Please! Don't insult our intelligence to low standards of Family Guy! I finally watched it. I enjoyed it for the most part, and thought it was the best Apple parody I've seen (not hard that though). A lot of funny parts, and most of it was hit rather than miss, until the dreaded Susan Boyle came into it. I'd already read the complaints about it so it didn't come as a shock, but unfortunately it was just as bad as I feared. Good to see Mom again, she was used quite well here and not too much as she can become a drag if she is. Some great animation in places, especially liked the old electrical trash ring orbiting the third world. Shame about the Susan Boyle thing, that really dragged this ep down. Overall though it's not as good as Rebirth, but better than Gadda...

This episode is a prime example of Comedy Central's influence on the writing of the show. The title might as well have been called "South Park Set in the Future."

The episode's main focus is on the pop-culture reference of the Apple iPhone. And later.. for no reason at all, a Susan Boyle reference.

The joke of the "eyePhone" being inside your head in the future seems stupidly unoriginal.

In the first two episodes of this season Fry and Leela seem to be romantically involved. But in this episode they seem to be not.

Leela: "You're a good friend."

Someone must have forgotten to inform the main writer of this episode.

This episode's overuse of pop-culture references to drive an episode combined with continuity errors.. and uh.. well just plain lacking the originality, wit and funniness of the old show makes this episode a major disappointment. And has really turned me off of the new series with this new direction.

As stated by just about everyone, the Susan Boyle joke was horrible. Couldn't the embarrassing video be of Leela doing anything else? Anything?!

Anyway, its nice to see the delivery company delivering packages. The e-waste scenes were more funny than preachy, which is always appreciated. Most of the twit/eye-phone jokes were great as well. Just terrible. Does Futurama have a contract with Apple or something? I know they are making fun of the company but every new episode seems to have some Apple reference. That's not really what I'm looking for in Futurama.

Not going to lie, when I first saw this episode, I was kind of turned off...the goat, the boil...it just didn't seem quite right. But I watched it again and got passed it and realized there were a lot of good jokes, specifically the sales employee with the "no choice of provider, etc." spiel. As long as their is no further reference to susan boil, I think I'll be ok :)

I suppose the writers couldn't have known how dated and unfunny their weak Susan Boyle reference would feel. The Apple jokes fared marginally better, but this was more reliant on pop-culture references than almost any episode so far, at the expense of a good story. Worst episode of the entire series? Perhaps. Bottom 5 for sure.

This was just dumb. A stupid episode that didn't feel like Futurama. Instead, it felt like a bad simpsons halloween special or something. There was absolutely no closure at the end of the episode - everyone's a zombie, Mom's evil laughing, and then the ep ends - wtf?! Where's the closure in that? What a dumb way to end an ep. And the susan boyle joke was the least funny in Futurama history. There was some good bits in the ep like the barfing goat, but still, unfortunately the bad outweighed the good in this ep

Horrible. It's really disappointing to see Futurama stoop to such a level of gross humor. I thought it was better than that. Attention writers: Just because the show is on Comedy Central doesn't mean that it has to have this kind of brainless humor. I was so disappointed that I didn't even watch "The Duh-Vinci Code" the following week, and only caught "Lethal Inspection" as a rerun. That one was much better.

The question is on a personall level. Should I feel bad for finding the scene with the two headed goat funny? I know it's not the style of humour us Futurama fans were used to during the original run but it doesn't mean they can't be a bit more daring now they're on Comedy Central. I enjoyed this episode alot. Love the way it mocked peoples obsession with how many friends/followers they need on facebook or Twitter. If you can get past the crude humour it's a good little episode.

I'll never understand all the hate at this episode. It's not perfect, by no means, and the pop-culture references might be a little different, but otherwise it's a strong episode, some good gags, and strong plotline that's in-keeping with the characters.

It's not without its weak points, some of the jokes are a bit too obvious, and the boil thing - though funny - is something we could have done without, but overall still a solid episode, and definitely not at the bottom of the pile.

While it did have some good moments, some of the jokes here have to be about the worse Futurama has ever done. (The knife joke from Bender's Game takes the cake) Susan Boil is literally cringe-worthy and worse yet, breaks some continuity with Leela. At the very least, the episode moves along but it's still one of the weakest episodes of season 6 and Futurama overall.

This is without a doubt the worst episode of Futurama their is by a long shot. Any long time Futurama fan can see through the poor story arc, the poorly written characters, and the disgrace it does to show's overall characters.

Instead of witty/clever jokes, we get crap like the vomiting goat.
Instead of a joke about a character's flaw, we get this garbage about a boil named Susan, which not only degrades the character its on, but also manages to be unlike anything the series has seen before. I'm not against trying new things out, but usually said new things should try to at least appeal to its user's interests. Instead, the jokes run on the line of Family Guy, which is the antithesis of what Futurama is. Futurama was everything Family Guy was not when they both aired initially; it was smart, not a gag fest with no sense. Instead, this episode is the epitome of rushed out garbage.

All in all, by far the worst of the entire series, you'd do yourself a favor by avoiding it, or gouging out your eye balls after seeing it.

I liked the episode but I only gave it a 3 for a few reasons. First the whole Mom plot with making people zombies, yes seem like an interesting plot, and I antcipated it being made into the main plot with the planet express gang out to stop her from succeeding. Instead what I got was a story about a boil and Frye embarrasing Leela while the whole Mom taking over people's minds took a back seat till the end and was anti-climatic. Then I agree with those who wonder about Frye and Leela's relationship, one minute they are in love, next its like their just good friends again. Its like the show can't make up its mind what to do with this relatonship. Yes the episode had some great moments, but it had potential to be better.

I like the idea about the "Dumb Bastards" ending... why not.

But as alot of people have already mentioned... it seemed very south park'ish. i only say this due to the Indian music playing while going to a third world country and the accent of the aliens there. Ok i laughed, but the whips kinda pushed it into south park territory. Otherwise, I dislike Susan Boil, ianything... but it did have its futurama moments.

This episode doesn't feel like Futurama to me. Going into outdated jokes, poop humor, and a singing boil, and basing an entire show around the YouTube popularity crazy doesn't cut it for me. I've watched since the first episode and I feel that the show has progressively gotten better and better until its cancellation. Now with the rebirth of the series, seems to be lacking the original flavor. This may be an original staff writer, but that doesn't mean it's good. I do have to say this is the worst episode of the season.

The first half of this episode started out ok. Then it all went downhill at the goat. I can accept the ipod jokes, but trying to get laughs for half an episode from a disgusting puking goat and then even worse the retarded boil on leela made it even worse. On top of those two things which arguably ruined the episode the jokes were much like the previous two, forced and uncreative. then at the end the episode just abruptly ends with the human race being zombies.

In the letters of a generation younger than mine...WTF!!?
I commented on the previous episode under the name KaSagan and I gave it 1 for the uncharacteristic portrayel of Leela and Zapp. This time the characters were a little more themselves, but I found the goat a little unsettling and not of Futurama ilk. In itself not worth a 1, but then along came that Boyle.
Look, I enjoy South Park, Family Guy and the like, but this Boyle did not belong in Futurama. It was a dirty cheap nasty joke. As another person commented, it was needless degradation of the character. If they gave the Simpsons similar poor treatment I doubt it would have made it this far - and loyal fans would have been outraged. Why must they massacre such an awesome show as Futurama?
This is the second of the new episodes I've seen (missed rebirth) and all I can say is that I'm glad Australia hasn't released the DVDs yet. I would have wasted good money purchasing it on day one without knowing just how Groening has massacred this awesome show.

Everything that needed to be said has been stated in the previous reviews. The humor was crude and vulgar, the pop culture references were far too abundant, and the final result was an episode that felt very...un-Futurama. Yet the thing that disappointed me the most about this one is that the writer of this episode also wrote 'The Sting', my favorite Futurama episode of all time. Overall, this episode was just an exploit of the standards of the new network. The writers have cleaned up a lot, but the unnecessary sexual-oriented jokes and pop culture references have remained intertwined with the better episodes of the season. Thankfully, no other episode was nearly as vulgar as this one.

i love futurama, but i was really disappointed with this episode. the writers and DXC need to re-invest in their "show bible" and not betray the essenence of the show.

the gross-out nature of the puking/shitting goat was truly disgusting a very NON funny way. The "susan boyle" reference is lame and feels inauthentic to what futurama should be. also, it was GROSS! It felt like they were being influenced by duckman, but to terrible effect. generally, i re-watch ever episode multiple times, but i'm not intending to watch this one ever again. (maybe i'll listen to the commentary track)

if they had written out the goat, and replaced with a more funny less gross gag, and changed the "boyle" to another plot device, the episode would have been way more tolerable, albeit, still a subpar episode.

sorry to be so mean, but i really hated this one.

This is a generous "3" from me. Yeah, the 2nd half of the episode with the boil and goat was absolutely awful, but the first half actually had some really funny moments, even if the writers were just compensating for all the missed Apple jokes during Futurama's cancellation years. Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but why all the 5 ratings? 5 means you thought it was a near perfect episode. If you rated this a 5, and say "Parasites Lost" a 5, you think that they are more or less on par with each other. That is really saying something.

As for the episode itself, it felt surprisingly Unfuturama-ish. Futurama has made pop culture references in the past, but never this blatantly. Also, a singing boil and a vomiting goat reminded me way too much of family guy (chris and his talking pimple, the scene where they all throw up).

Not at all my taste in television. I expected more from this show.

Watching it again for the first time since original broadcast, I couldn't remember initially why it'd had some bad reviews at the time and since. The first half of the episode is generally very funny (and of course spawned the 'Shut up and take my money' meme); perhaps the iPhone jokes were just too obvious at the time but now aren't in quite as crowded a market (yet are still relevant). After the awful misstep of the previous episode this one was shaping up really well.

...then the twice barfing goat turned up, and I remembered how horrible it was to watch before. It was still just as horrible. Then Susan Boil turned up, and I remembered how mean and unpleasant it seemed. I couldn't enjoy the episode any more from then on, despite the odd clever line. I don't think I've seen anything else go from 'enjoyable' to 'unwatchable' quite so rapidly.
