Every season of every show that I have ever seen there is just one episode that isn't my bag. For Futurama I could go over and over for seasons 1-5 which epsiode I didn't like and this one was not my bag. I tired to get into it but Hermes and Bender together don't work as good and bender and Fry. The fact that Hermes was inspector 5 and tried to prove a point that Bender is Bender......Just doesn't work for me.

Hermes best lines ever:

"It's a calculator. I ate it to gain its power."

"... suicide isn't necessarily the answer!"

Instant classic episode.

What a great episode. I thought that it was funny like the original series, with background jokes, as well as small jokes that just pass you by.

I like that it was a canon episode too. Here we learned a lot about Bender and his past, as well as a little about Hermes.

While not perfect, this episode felt like true Futurama. It did not try to throw in too many jokes, and the pacing felt just right. We are very close to getting a perfect episode.

Im glad to see the episodes are getting better. I could see that hermes was inspector 5 pretty much from the begining. There could have been a bit more of Leela attempting to file. Zoidberg's line, "You call that an ink defense?" was clasic, and made the episode. I would give it a 8.5 outta 10 but we only have a 5 pt scale so 4 of 5.

This was a very great episode. We got to see where Bender was made and learned that him a Hermes are now really good friends. I thought Bender looked really cute as a baby. I'm glad Hermes didn't trow him away and instead overided the defect.

After last weeks episode and now this week it's official: FUTRAMA'S BACK BABY!
This one had it all, and it somehow only starred Hermes and Bender. Loads of continuity with respect to whom Bender and Hermes really are. Also it had lots of refrences to old shows and characters that felt fresh. In reguards to the adorable character driven flashback at the end, you almost made me cry and laugh at the same time.
Futurama team, Bravo. And welcome back.

Best Episode yet in my opinion. As soon as I saw Ken Keeler was the Executive producer I new this one was going to be good. he has not done one bad episode in the original five seasons! wish he did all the episodes! love the bender/Hermes team. Did not like the beginning war sequence that much. I think Futurama is finally starting to get good :)

Best episode yet. It had plenty of jokes that were funny without feeling forced and did not rely on shallow sexual humor. Instead, the humor felt more like old Futurama.

It showcased the characters' true original personalities while exposing a new side of Bender in the face of mortality whithout contradicting the Bender we know and love. And it revealed aspects of Hermes' character that made me proud for once to be in a field so closely akin to accounting.

The pacing also seemed alot more like old Futurama, and I felt that the authors had put more time into writing and carrying out the jokes in this episode, resulting in a higher quality final product.

As for the sentimentality of the episode, it was quite a large dose of something I feel this season has been missing. Its core storyline (the revelation of Hermes involvement in Bender's life) reminded me somewhat of "Leela's Homeworld".

If Futurama can keep up the many good aspects of this episode in future shows, I will be very happy. I feel like maybe - just maybe - it's finally back!

It wasn't a bad episode.

We see the 2nd or 3rd version of the origin of Bender. But this time he is built in baby form.. so um.. he grows. I guess they were referencing the "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles" episode, which equally made no sense heh.

This episode had it's own actual story without the aid of constant current event references and random vulgarity for no other reason other than just because they can write vulgarity.

So.. step in the right direction I suppose.

A strong episode with a few continuity problems:

(1) We've seen Bender on the assembly line before and he wasn't a baby. (How does that even work?)
(2) Bender never had a backup copy. In Bendin' in the Wind, his body was crippled and he took it very, very hard and thought his life was over.

Other than that, I think this is the first classic of the new season. Aside from the humor and pacing, the animation and background designs have improved greatly from the first few episodes. It looks like everyone, not just the writers, are finally back in the saddle.

An above decent episode- not the best of the new season, but not the worst either. The ending of course, was very sweet, but even more surprising was the poignant scene between Bender and Hermes when Bender began punching the wall. It was a very emotionally mature moment that didn't try to hide behind jokes.

The jokes lacked a little bit here, but the ones that were good were all very good, but at many points I found myself waiting to laugh again. Recommended for any Futurama fan.

Good episode, probably tied with Duh-Vinci Code for my favorite of the new season. Felt like it could have fit in with the older seasons, but I have a few complaints. We've already seen Bender on the assembly line, and these new episodes very heavily contradict the old ones at times. One thing I always liked about Futurama was it was a rare cartoon with coherency and consistency throughout the episodes.

I feel like we're being re-introduced to all the characters and once that is done we are going to see episodes much more along the lines of what we used to have, and we'll see some story arcs appear. But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode.

As far as this season goes this was sadly one of the funnier episodes,

futurama is dead as of now... I looked into it, all the writers so far, are either new to futurama, or bad writers.... attack of the killer app was written by one of the better writers...

I'm baffled why this is...
however it gives me hope that maybe once the veteran writers start writing again the series will truly be revived

A genuinely excellent episode that took me back to the time of Futurama's prime. The jokes weren't as frequent or as funny as some of the episodes of this season, but it eschewed the maligned - and largely outdated - pop culture references of the current season in favour of a good story. Although it did mess with the show's continuity a little (if Bender thought he could never really die, why was he trying to use a suicide booth in the pilot?) the heart and soul of Futurama was right here.

I thought that this was a pretty funny episode and the best one yet. Again like in the Duh Vinchi Code episode it didn't rely on just sex jokes. This one felt like a normal episode. The Zoidburg like with the ink was great! It just missed the Curly "wooboboo". Just on a side note all the voice actors, Matt, David X., and writers/directors are going to be at Comic-Con like every year this Saturday and looks to be a awsome thing to see.

Started out slow, but picked up to become a very good episode. I was glad to see that the B stories are slowly coming back, because they really do help with pacing and help to keep episodes from feeling too drawn out. The ending was pretty nice too - I agree with what someone said earlier, the ending had quite a Leela's Homeworld vibe. One of the better episodes this season. REALLY looking forward to "The Late Philip J. Fry", it should be a great one.

This season just keeps getting better and better. The best Bender story in years. Loved all the background gags, caught a bunch of them during the second viewing. By far the best episode of the new season and rockets into the top 25% of all episodes. What the episode lacked in b-story it made up for in the depth of Hermes and Bender. This episode made me laugh, tear up and feel warm and fuzzy.

Easily the best episode of the season. It's also in the same ballpark as the best eps of the entire series, with a great story, lots of laughs, and expert comedic timing.

They missed an easy way to reconcile Bender's sudden discovery of his backup unit with the rest of the series, by having him hear about the backup unit on the news, for instance (which would have been a great excuse for putting in some Morbo one-liners). Without tying this in to the series history, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions (as others above have already mentioned).

If the episode had been a bit longer, they could have played up the B arc with Leela's filing failures a bit more - I'm guessing they wrote and maybe even animated more scenes but cut them for time. (Extra scenes on the DVD, mayhaps?)

But if those are the only flaws I can find with this episode, we really do have some classic Futurama on our hands. Great job, folks!

It was very good! The only slightly weak part of the whole episode was the first act, but other than that it was superb! I loved the pairing of Hermes and Bender together, it was funny and good character development for those two. Although I got the twist really early in the episode, the ending still touched me.

The humour was top notch and the Killbots were funny, plus the Leela subplot was decent too. I also liked how they revisted the Central Bureuacracy, and we finally have a third act that is decent in the new season! Overall, a solid 5 out of 5 and it definatly felt like "classic" Futurama almost the whole way.

I didn't particularly enjoy the first 5 episodes of this season and honestly, I was beginning to lose faith. But, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It feels like a big step in the right direction. And I can forgive the continuity error (Bender's assembly has been shown before, I believe).

My only gripe with this episode was the lack of side-story. We didn't see Fry and the rest of the gang again right up until the last moments. But seeing as everything had gone to anarchy without Hermes, what was shown was perfectly adequate. It didn't take away from the episode to not see the others much.

I'm glad they've dropped the crude humour which was so heavily used in the first few episodes. It seems they've got that out of their system.

This feels much more like the Futurama I know and love. Characters are in character, writing is getting back in the old groove, humour is much closer to what it used to be. I give this episode a 4 out of 5. Overall, I'm very happy with it, but I'm saving a 5 for something really special. I'm looking forward to next week's episode. It just might be a 5.

I think the episodes of this season have been getting steadily better and this one definitely felt more like a traditional episode. It would've been nice to see more of Planet Express trying to cope without Hermes but I guess with time constraints that wasn't possible. Also I thought the bit at the end that gave away Hermes' role in the whole thing could've stopped after the conveyor belt scene without explaining that he'd removed the file etc (that would have been obvious). Just showing that part would have been more touching I think.

Futurama NEVER gets a sound-selection wrong. "Little Bird" was a perfect song to close this episode on. I wish they would come out with an album or something.

Best episode of the season, in my opinion - even though it started off incredibly slow in my opinion. The war-reenactment scenes didn't quite work for me, but the subsequent story between Bender and Hermes was surprisingly great. Totally saw the ending coming once Hermes said he'd 'hack' into the computer, but I was still pleased at how they wrapped the whole story together. I really hope the writers realize that they can make some emotionally powerful stuff and run with that instead of over the top sex humor seen in Proposition Infinity.

My favorite episode of the season thus far. There're a ton of nice background and subtle gags ("Let's get brick-faced," the death certificate guy from a past episode), and we get more development on Hermes and Bender than we've gotten in a very long time.

The episode could've been a tad funnier, but all things considered, that's a minor complaint.

Sort of between a 4 and 5 for me, but I'll be generous today since I'm a fan of Hermes episodes and this was particularly charming. More episodes of the show should have this style of writing.

I didn't think that a Bender/Hermes pairing would work out for an episode, but it really did here. Tons of jokes, great directing and music here. Terrific script.

I think that the reenactment at the beginning went for too long (4 minutes?!) and wasn't that funny. I would've liked to have some of that cut for more of Leela's B-story. But that's really my only complaint about this episode.

Best episode of the season. Every episode of Futurama this season has been better then the last. I think people need to cut the writers of Futurama some slack. Yes, some episodes have been subpar and below average. In fact episode one, two and three were quite bad. Episode 4 felt average and five started to feel like old Futurama. However, we can't expect Futurama to be awesome at first due to a seven year hiatus.

Also, 4 movies did in fact mess with the pacing of the show. The first five episodes of the season sort of crammed everything in at the end. This episode was the first episode not to have messed up pacing or relate back to modern pop culture. (Modern culture does not work and they better ditch this idea fast. Leave that to the Simpsons or the master of pop culture, South Park.) This caused the first five episodes to feel not as great as the old Futurama.

However, every new episode has gotten better. The next episode, The Late Phillip J. Fry, will probably be one of the best if not the best episode of the season. (Hint: Emmy Shot) Its hitting its stride now. Lethal Inspection: 10/10

I really enjoyed this episode. Great ending too.

Oh, and for those who are wondering why Bender looked like a baby on the conveyor belt. Think of this way, he started out that way, then he went into another room where he was re-assembled as an adult robot. In other words, he went through different stages.

I'm sure that is the type of explanation that David X. Cohen would give.

A few of the things I liked about this episode were the jokes had a better flow to them. Had several ties to past episodes like the old man waiting in line at the central bureaucracy to get his birth certificate for one, and the emotional bit at the end.

Bender and Hermes may not be the perfect match like bender and fry but this kind of "partnership" brings fresh situations and some interesting twist and turns to the series, plus i loooveee "sappy" endings and baby bender holding his Cerveza :D Thank you inspector #5 for the gift of bender!

Wow -- This episode shows once again why Futurama is the best TV show on the air. What other show could have us laughing at Dr. Zoidberg's ink defense on moment, and then crying at the preciousness of this one, single life we are so fortunate to enjoy the next? It's a rare, rare thing to have a TV show remind you what a blessing life is.

First time this season I missed the first airing of a new Futurama episode.
In all comes down to it, it was good. My only complaint was the handling off of Leela taking over Hermes' job. Felt there should've been more jokes with that angle. Also, Bender teaming with Hermes...interesting mix, if not always funny as Fry and Bender. The re-enactment had the best moments (Sith Vs. Confederates...LOL). Most people've been talking about how this ending reminded them of LEELA'S HOMEWORLD, when it reminded more of the ending for LUCK OF THE FRYISH (although I would've picked a different song for the montage; that one just felt off for what they were trying to do). Plus, the reveal was way too obvious. Even so, a good episode.

YAAAAWN. Very lack-luster.
I smiled a few times but the ending was visible about 20% of the way into the plot. Not terrible, just not up to par in any way. Again, too many pop-culture references and too little creativity. I want new planets, new characters, and interesting revelations on human nature, not a string of predictable episodes using recycled plots and pop-culture satire.

This was another great futurama episode. I missed it's original airing and after watching it today i would simply say, "Good old futurama!"

To the people complaining about not seeing bender as a child in the previous episodes and the lack of consistency bender was shown reverting to a childhood state in "Teenage mutant leela's hurdles" So to everyone complaining about no consistency it's a tv show about the future, i mean come on they can do anything they want to in the show. Also i felt it, in a small way, to be a parody of Battlestar galactica (newer series) if you watched it you know what i'm talking about.

Even with potential continuity problems the best yet of the new season.

The naked couple with the black bars that we first saw in the pilot....Zoidberg spreading ink everywhere. Getting to see Scruffy again, (alienise- has anyone translated that yet?)...yeah, I think it may actually be back.

Last week I was goixng to give duh-vinci a 3.5 but Morbo confronted me at laser-point and made me give it a solid 3. I gave rebirth a 4 so this one deserves a 4 as well. Not excellent but the last two weeks the writers and animators are FINALLY moving in the right derection again.

Meh. I didn't hate it, but after six new episodes, I can't help but conclude that the magic is gone. The big reveal can be seen coming ten minutes early, deflating the impact, and the end music, which seems to be trying to capture the emotion of the final moments of the 'Leela's Homeworld' episode, is quite lame in comparison to the better song at the end of that one.

That said, there are quite a few hilarious moments in the middle of the episode, and it is not the worst of the new episodes by any means.

I LOVE HERMES!!!!!! Absolutely brilliant, perfect episode. The pace was great, the humor was hilarious, the heart was there, Hermes ROCKS, and he and Bender in a buddy ep was so much fun.

I couldn't ask for more. I've loved the new season, but this is the first episode that I think really shines. I'd rank it in the top 10 ever, up there with Farnsworth's Parabox and the rest of the classics.

Overall I enjoyed this episode the most out of the new series. The charicters feel the closest they have to themselfs since seires 4 (especially Leelas freak out when they got back)

The jokes were funny (ink defence in particular) and ending was sweet if predictable and had an emotional envolvment the other episodes thus far have lacked. (and baby Bender was CUUUUTE)

I do want to say this though. About Fry being too stupid? have any of you SEEN 'The day the earth stood stupid' or Mars University, or Roswell that ends well??

Fry is as stupid as the story requires, much like Homer in the Simpsons. Deal with it.

The folks that called this episode weak, gave it a bad review or hated it will never be happy no matter what Futurama does this season. This was a GREAT episode, I've re-watched it over and over. It was wonderfully written, had a strong emotional payoff at the end, had Bender be more like "classic" Bender (and not the crappy way they've made him act since the movies), no unnecessary volgarity, no heavy-handed eco-preaching crap and great use of Hermes. If they stay on this path then Season 7 will be great. No backsteps, now!

Perfect! Not less than a perfect episode - fun and intelligent. Up with the best there ever were. People who gave that episode 2 or 3 and still complain how futurama is not the futurama they once allegedly liked most likely grew too stupid in the years between to still appreciate futurama. Or maybe the never liked it and just forget it, what do I know. It's hard to see. What I DO know is that this was a really great episode

The strongest and most well written episode of season 6 (7?) so far. Epic ending, an instant classic in my opinion. Once again a strong 'performance' from Bender, who seems to be in top form this season.

A good episode. I'm not a big fan of Hermes, but I much prefered this episode to other Hermes eps such as HHRHGB and the route of all evil (if you count that as a Hermes ep). A highlight of the ep for me was the old man finally reaching the front of the queue of the central buorocracy (spelt?), the same old man we saw in HHRHGB. I also liked the ending, very touching.

Wahoo! Lethal Inspection continues the upward trend of season 6 after the epic lull of Attack of the Killer App. Unlike Proposition Infinity and The Duh-Vinci Code, I didn't feel that this episode felt much like 'classic' Futurama. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. It felt sort of like 'Futurama Redux' or something like that if it makes sense.

The first 5 minutes suck and may well be Futurama's lamest opening, set-up, act-1 gag-fest type section of the episode ever. But soon after that Bender is forced to face mortality and we're given an interesting pairing of lead characters in Bender and Hermes. It's a nice, relatively understated plot concept and one that plays out very nicely -in part thanks to the episode's absolutely outstanding direction. Much of the shots and little, subtle details are just incredible (the sequence when Bender starts punching a wall may well be my favourite 'subtle touch' in Futurama's history. It says so much about the character and what he's going through and doesn't exist to set up a joke or plot-point).

The ending was wonderful. If you're familiar with Futurama, this episode uses the same formula as Jurassic Bark, The Luck of the Fryrish and most similarly, Leela's Homeworld. It isn't sad, but it's very touching and sweet.

The episode's weakest area is definitely its humour. It's probably the least funny episode since In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela and most of the jokes that do work are strange, vaguely surreal or oddly worded little moments -not usual Futurama humour at all. However, I'm a firm believer that comedy built around a strong plot is always better than plot built around strong comedy and the storyline here is definitely good enough to forgive the jokes being somewhat lighter than usual. And the episode is still funny, I should point out -just not as funny as Futurama usually is.

Overall, it's the best constructed episode of the season so far (well, it was when it aired) and comes close to Rebirth for best episode of the season, but I side with Rebirth purely as it was a lot funnier for me. It was nice to see that this upward trend continued on to the next episode.

A superb episode, a throwback to the original series in not only its lack of lame social commentary, but also the way the jokes were told. Not every second of the episode was filled with pop culture references, rather the jokes were put in smartly in between.

In addition to how the well structured the episode was, it also succeeds in two aspects lacking from Futurama previously; it sheds back story on both Bender and Hermes; the former is one who should have had more of his origin shed way sooner, and the ladder previously lacked any episodes to shed any to begin with (his only other episode was How Hermes Requisitioned his Groove Back).

Overall, a very well paced episode that lacked the weirdness of the first 4 episodes, and improved story telling over the 5th. The best episode of the first 6 easily, and much better than episodes 8 and 9, so with that said, give this episode a watch.

So... close! I'd actually give this a 3.5 if I could. This episode came SO CLOSE to being one of the tear jerk episodes that we've been missing so much. The only problem is that it's impossible to be moved by this episode, because we don't care about Bender. He's good for comical relief, but we don't care about him the way we do Fry and Leela. But, the ending was genuinely surprising, and there were some funny jokes (although the dead bear bit was just sad). Overall, the best new episode that came out so far when it was released, but there are better episodes, and even better new episodes, such as The Late Philip J. Fry, A Prisoner of Benda, Cold Warriors, and Overclockwise.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this episode. Obviously the ending was the main part of the show, and while it was alright, it wasn't nearly as good as some other emotional endings. Part of the problem was how predictable it was. I'm pretty sure everyone saw it coming 15 minutes into the show.

Overall, it was a decent episode that possible could have fit in with the originals. Were it not for the ending, I would only give it a 3, but I suppose I can give it a 4 seeing how many bad episodes appeared this season.
