I dunno.. didn't really laugh at this one. Maybe it's just my mood.

Thought it was pretty dumb overall. They have another social commentary on some hot topic.. meh.. Are they gonna do an episode on the death penalty now? Stem Cell research maybe?

This has gotta be the weakest season ever..

This episdoe was very great. I lughed at the fact that it took the Professor only 2 hopurs to build a spaceship yet it took him 12 hours to make a slingshot. I also found it funny when Bender was sleeping on the other crew members.

I missed the first several minutes...but what I saw was very funny! Clever, sci-fi-ey way of making fun of the evolution debate, and I didn't think the humor was too one-sided.

I thought this episode was not very funny. and at all and was plotted poorly and seemed kinda boring and random. This episode realy didn't feel like good old Futurama and was just not very good. Zoidberg made no sense at the end when he just randomly says he hates cubert and makes him sick... Where did that come from????????? I thought they were liking each other.

Not the worst and not the best episode. another average one. I did think this one had a lot more funny lines from Fry. "THIS IS A COOL WAY TO DIE!!" "Don't Eat My Butt!"

Kinda interesting, but the evolution argument was pretty lame, considering they're just doing another message episode that does really nothing, but going into robotic dinosaurs......ok, that was kinda cool.

‎Best line of the season: "The water's as sterile as my milkman-trusting father."

This episode was a very mixed bag. On one hand, the jokes revolving around the evolution debate were hilarious. Professor Farnsworth's and Banjo's dispute over the missing link was a highlight of the episode. The second and third acts saw the crew dealing with evolving robots on an asteroid who's evolution was set in motion by the professor. This set up for a funny take on the evolution debate that wrapped up in the end, which could only possibly capture laughs from someone who took an Anthropology course. The sub plot with Zoidberg was horribly executed as well. What could have been Zoidberg-esque brilliance was actually rather lame and not funny, and not in a away befitting the crustacean. And in the end of the episode, Zoidberg just blatantly says that he hates Qubert and he's sick of him, despite the previous seen entailing you to believe they were going to become very close. Did they miss a scene here or did I just not get the joke?

Anyway, overall, a subpar episode that hasn't been uncommon in this season. The evolution jokes were funny but not to laugh out loud proportions, and the sub plot was lame as can be. I give the episode a 2.5, which I round up to a 3.

Pretty good! Definitely the best episode of the season so far. I don't think the plot was particularly great or the satire brilliant, but it was a fast-paced, funny episode. The characters & world felt reasonably well-realised, too, which is a nice change from most of the season 6 episodes.

I enjoyed this episode.

Its too bad that that the Planet Express Ship got completely destroyed, but then again they can always rebuilt it right?

I think the gag with Zoidberg hating Cubert was supposed to be a joke about Zoidberg being fickle.
Or perhaps there is more to the B-plot that got cut and it will end up on the DVD

I'm really looking forward to A Prisoner of Benda. It looks really fun!

The story was good, and a couple of the jokes were funny, like the one about Leela earning her own rocks, but most of the jokes were weak or just down right bad. The worst one was Fry calling out "this is a cool way to die!" when he was picked up by the robotic pterodactyl. And the whole science-mobile thing was trendy.

Overall a good episode. I do agree that the A plot was better than the B plot. Perhaps there are several deleted scenes from the B plot that would have helped fill things in a bit. Dr. Banjo was a clever allusion to Dr. Zaius to Planet of the Apes, and loved the Star Trek TNG reference there with evolving nanites. I think most of the jokes were pretty funny. While it was at times uneven, it was overall very entertaining.

From a humor standpoint, this was by far the best of the new season to date. I honestly cannot fathom some of the lower or mediocre reviews, as it was filled with the kind of classic science-y cleverness and absurdity that marked the best moments of the original series.

The inverted symmetry of the Professor's debate with Banjo and later with the robot evolutionists was a stroke of genius.

Other highlights:
- the missing links argument with Banjo
- Bender's suspenders
- I can't live on this planet anymore
- What happened? How did we save you?
- The circularity criterion applied to a robot deity at the end but not to a humanoid deity

Third best episode of the season. An episode in the top half of Futurama's better episodes. However, some flaws with the episode.

The topical issues again. Not needed as proven by episode 6 and 7. The best episodes of the season. Also, I feel like Dr. Banjo should have been Wernstrom. I understand the satirical idea of Dr. Banjo but Wernstrom would have been better. Wernstrom doesn't have to be pro-creationist. He can be like people evolve from fish and maybe Banjo could have been the god guy so a trio arguing of some sort. Also, Zoidberg and Cuthbert was a massive failure and was filler. That's proven by the end result of the b plot.

Also, the pairings need to stop or at least make sense. Here's one they should've done. Fry, Zapp and Bender get stranded on a planet due to Fry trying to impress Leela by doing a delivery himself. Bender triest to prove that he is not totally into himself and tries to prove it by helping Fry. Meanwhile Zapp tries to prove to Kif that he does not his help and chases after Fry/Bender in an attempt to make a date with Leela. They all crash on the planet. We got the two dumbest characters on the show and the most narcissitic one working together for survival. They can't read signs and they start to go insane. They get beat up by a cute alien monkey. The whole crew tries to find them. It turns out in the end that they were in a vacation resort. Whatever I guess that's just my idea. Maybe a Zoidberg/Fry pairing or a Benda/Leela trying to find Fry after he disappeared. They search the galaxy believes he's dead, have a funeral and meanwhile Fry just went to Comic Con or E3 for a few days.

Those are just ideas. Still a great episode felt sort of like Douglas Adams. 5/5

They have done an episode where they touch on stem cell research, Tregremember the ep where the professor covers his face with stem cells to look younger and falls in love with a woman who isn't all that she seems, either? But I won't argue about this issue again here. (I wrote about it on my review of the iPhone episode.)

I thought this episode was great. Lots of funny lines, the reference to Jurassic Bark, the underlying message, Zoidberg's pathetic attempt at fatherhood. Perhaps not quite as good as the last three episode, but still superb.

The episode was good, but a little shaky in the first act. The evolution proving part with the Professor and Dr Bamjo was maybe dragged out a little too long, but other than that, most of the first act was good. The episode gets better once they get onto the planet with the robotic dinosaurs, as the jokes pop up and work more often, and its more memorable due to the animation and well placed quotes during the dinosaur/robot encounters.

As for the rest, I thought the subplot with Zoidberg and Cubert was quite good, though it doesn't really have a full conclusion, ending with a quick quote to end the subplot, but both Zoidberg and Cubert come out with some funny moments. Other things I liked were the courtroom scene with Bender in those suspenders, but like I said, most of the jokes were in the 2nd act, but it's still good enough to give the episode a solid 4 out of 5, and I personally thought it was an interesting take on evolution/creationism.

A surprisingly good episode!

Very funny. Possibly the funniest episode of season 6 so far.
But also, the plot was surprisingly interesting and full of cool science-fiction (and the science that goes with that). It tackled the whole evolution vs creationism debate brilliantly. Offering a decent argument for both sides whilst very clearly sitting on the sane side.

The subplot was absolutely hilarious too. It's rare to get such a good, funny subplot in such a cool, science-y 'epic' of an A-storyline.

To top it off, there was some lovely bits of art-direction and animation.

All in all, one of the best episodes so far this season.

Loved this episode. I don't understand why people are whining about the end with Zoidberg, is that ONE line really enough to give this episode a lower score. Plus it was completely just, we can assume that Cubert is such an awful person to be around that even Zoidberg can't stand him. There was nothing missing and no flaw in the writing, it's supposed to be a joke.

I'll start off by saying I agree with everyone else that the B plot was very weak. We can do better than that.

I thought the evolution debate was done very well, with a great amount of hilarity mixed in. It did a good job making a joke out of both sides' arguments. Also, I loved the missing link discussion. You'd think evolution would be solved after 45 found links, but I guess you need 46. :-D

It's a good episode. At first I didn't like it very much, but after rewatching I changed my opinion. It's sure not the best of the season, especially the Zoidberg subplot is rather weak, which is a pity, bc he's my very favorite character (together with Captain General Brannigan and the Professor). I think the episode would be better off without the substory. If there is something to complain about the new season it's the lack of good Zoidberg parts (unlike Zapp or the Professor which both had good stories). Anyway, as I said, all in all it's a good episode.

Goodness me.

This episode was weak.

I know the topic is touchy, but I honestly didn't find the main story funny at all and I predicted the entire plot in the first 3 minutes. The Zoidberg B-story was all right, but the ending was totally bizarre (when he says he hates Q-bert).

I wish Futurama would stop trying to be deep and make social commentary. There should be an unspoken agreement in the media: Larry King shouldn't try to do comedy and Futurama shouldn't try to "make people think". The Futurama writers need to give up as theologians and philosophers and trying doing what they're good at.

you know, at times, more so this season, futurama succumbs to what has made the simpsons such a horrible show to watch - aside from the complete whoring of itself to fox and other corporate-consumerist trends: it's just a vehicle for gags and ideas.

it struck me because of a comment someone else made weeks ago about the crew never doing their jobs and working for a shipping company. like in this episode, suddenly, to prove a point, the crew just flies to the olduvai gorge, has an afternoon fun-dig, and miraculously finds a treasure-trove of fossils, among them the plot-required missing link? t.v. show or not, cartoon or not, that's weak writing.

that's the point i'm trying to make. now that the characters have all been established as "archetypes," with certain stock moods and actions and roles, they're just rearranged into new dramas, robotically, in order to make points for the story. you know? they're not meaningful in themselves, they're just hollow vehicles for transporting jokes, poorly-written, emotionless, unreal dialogue and reactions to plot-events.

just like the old simpsons episodes, the best futurama episodes work when the characters are imagined to live in a self-coherent "real" world, where characters are consistent in a sense, have real motivations and emotions, where their lives, even if they're in a fantastical 30th century, have real limitations and demands.

the simpsons were just a regular, working-class family with a daft but loving dad, realistic kids who did real kid-things... now they fly to africa and japan and meet a celebrity every week, and lisa's a genius, and everyone's a "character" and everyone knows each other.

same with futurama.

In a word, dull. The characterization this season has been all wrong. The characters now are just there to move along the weeks vague plot/social commentary. Really, really poor.

The characters don't progress or develop anymore. Leela in particular is nothing like she used to be. Fry has no depth anymore.

It's just really sad. The heart and soul of the show seems to have gone.

Probably the most boring episode they've ever done. I didn't raise a smile once. The plot was abysmal. What a letdown.

This episode was better than I thought it was going to be (based on a clip I saw, I thought it was going to be mostly a Christianity-bashing episode). I'm not big on the social commentary episodes but this was a lot better than "Proposition Infinity." The helicopter hummingbird made me laugh and then the honking swan right after that made me laugh some more.

I was glad that they presented the theory that life was planted by Someone, even though they did bash creationists at the beginning. We get it, writers: You're mostly a bunch of atheists and very politically liberal. Can we get back to watching Futurama now? I still give it four points for being surprisingly good and for showing more than one side of the argument. "It seemed like eons to you"

I found it a tad muddled, particularly in the first act. on the whole, though, it fit in with that futurama-feel that I crave so deeply whenever I watch the new episodes. had the plot been more streamlined, it would have been perfect. there was a tad too much extraneous information and gag setups that could easily have been cut and the zoidberg/cubert subplot should have been fleshed out a little more, but I especially loved every moment spent in the robotic world.

For you reviewers complaining about them picking a "hot topic" to do an episode on, are you just that stupid? The Scopes Monkey Trial was in 1925! You have a point with eyePhone and Proposition Infinite, but not on creationism being taught in classrooms, as that debate has been going on for a century and will go on.

Hilarious episode, although I agree with others that the Zoidberg B-plot could have been funnier.

The zingers in the creationist vs evolutionist opening were brilliant, and the way the story was crafted to circle back on itself at the end with the robot evolutionist against the professor as the creator was absolutely genius writing.

"Fake Sciene is Real Science!" and other protestor signs made me laugh out loud.

Bring on more episodes like this. And if you don't belive in evolution, I don't understand why you watch a show like Futurama at all. /boggle

Another strange ep. Probably not quite as good as I was hoping, but it had its moments. Cubert was being a brat again, but I like that. The evolution robot planet thing seemed slightly too weird for me. The robotic dinosaurs were clool though, and the ending was good.

Planet Express is a delivery company isn't it? When is the crew going to start going to differnt planets and making deliveries again? But apparently the writers have forgotten that somehow. Anyway average episode.

Another classic. Lots of thick irony, and an excellent discussion of Creationism vs. Evolution (as in, it was fair and balanced rather than full of hyperbole and stilted to one side). It admits at the end that it's possible for both sides to be right (within reason, see: Creation Museum), but it also admits that the argument is, in the long run, trivial.

For those arguing against the topicality, I think it's refreshing and it ties in with part of the original manifest of the show to use the exaggerated setting of the future to point out via Reductio Ad Absurdum exactly how crazy/pointless some of our current-day issues/ideas are.

In this case, the 'topical' issue being addressed is something extremely important in many scientific and theological fields, similar to the previously mentioned Stem Cells. It's the kind of thing that the show SHOULD be addressing! You wouldn't have the freedom to make these shows in any other medium.

To those who didn't get the Zoidberg joke: It's funny because Zoidberg goes to extreme lengths to gain Cubert's approval, and once he has it he no longer wants it. In fact, he actually hates him.

Again, great episode. Haters can suck on a Space Lemon.

Dude that's the most nitpicky thing you could possibly say. Think about the original run of the series and tell me how often the episode was based around a delivery. The FACT is that each season only averages 3 or 4 delivery based episodes. None of the best episodes of the show are based on deliveries, so seriously, clam it or I'll clamp it. With THE CLAMPS

Great episode. 5

I liked the character of Dr. Banjo. I hope we get to see him again.

I though this episode was of average quality...I think I liked the Cats episode better because you could just enjoy the absurdity without having the spectre of a potential Aesop in the background.

Meh. Ok funny.. Shows losing a lot of its comedy, and focusing much more on trying to make long epic stories crammed into 22 minutes. Best part was Bender learning how to knit xD

Best futurama episode ever, or something close to it. The appearance of doctor banjo, exclaiming "I'm not an ape" was just hilarious. The following debate even moreso: "haha, I've got you now!"

And the ending was simply superb!

Best episode of the season yet!
* I rewatched this one and TLFJF to decide which was better*

I really think someone (maybe the lead writer for this ep) on the writing staff must be a Deist. I'm fairly suprised I hadn't noticed anyone else yet use that word in a review.

This was a philosophically heavy episode, yes, but...there were so many good one liners, most all the jokes worked for me.

Another thing I don't get at all are the haters of the odd pairings. While they don't always work out brilliantly, it is nice to see how some of the B characters interact with one another. The Zoidberg/Cubert thing worked for me up until the end...it's obvious with the wearing of the oven mits that Q really came to respect Zoidy (which no one else other than perhaps Fry or Farnsworth does). But then again he is a horrible brat, and for Z who takes sooo much crap from everyone else say he hates him does show what a lil' jerk he is.

While on trial the lines: I came here on a spaceship, created your ancestors, lived in a cave, and oh...he's my uncle
priceless!

The entire debate at the end where doc Banjo and Farnsworth basically agree with one another but shut out Bender's suggestion that perhaps a Robo-Supreme-Architect could have set organic life in motion moves this to point out our current absurdities we have in the whole ONLY SCIENCE vs. ONLY RELIGION.

This harkens back to Godfellas with the Bender line (this isn't going to be exact but you'll get the idea): I was alone for a while, then I was god, then I was alone again, then I met god, and now I'm back.

Wether you agree with the sentiment of this episode or not; if you are a futurama fan this stuff should not have been overly complicated to follow.

As an Agnostic who believes in evolution this one really worked for me.

And darn funny too!
:)

This season is becoming the best one...
Everything Zap Zero said is right.

People should understand that Futurama is not like Family Guy or South Park or even Simpsons, this is a comedy - scy-fy show.
You should know and like some subjects like the universe, religion, history, science and physic...that is what make Futurama unique. They do some smart jokes that only some people might understand, but if you do, you will be glad =)

I'll echo the comments that the B-plot seemed a bit skimmed over, the only real weakness in this ep IMO.

I thought it was funny throughout, very clever, I loved the message and there were some great lines. "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" is one of my all time favourites - great delivery.

Great episode. I don't understand the negativity.

This was a really well done episode with a lot of LOL moments. The best is for anthropology nerds like myself and Farnsworth and the Ape arguing at the start. The dinosaur battle was hilarious as well. Like a rip-off of every Jurassic Park movie... except with robots! The ending was classy especially the dig at Bender's "ridiculous" idea (when in reality any way to describe the "start of life" sounds ridiculous). I totally loved Zoidberg's final line. I understand people are confused but that's the point ...

Great episode, just not so good jokes. I'm beginning to feel the old Futurama coming back, where sexual jokes were subtle, funny, and fit into the overall plot. Whatever happened to being a delivery company? This episode progresses on to gray areas that shouldn't concern a delivery company. This season (especially early on), they're accomplishing these "grand scale" achievements and going all out with it. The theme of the series feels like it is changing, and it's starting to turn into what The Simpsons is, after running out of good story ideas. But there's so much more they can do if they really start focusing on their interesting characters more and writing legitimate plot lines that would make sense to a delivery company.

Really mixed. On one hand, this is another post-revival episode that focuses on overdone and non-subtle politics. On the other hand, this one's a lot more story-driven than that drivel known as "Proposition Infinity". In fact, the pretty fascinating story redeems the relative lack of laughs. I'll let this one escape with an average grade.
