Very funny episode, probably the funniest all season. Fry's comic was hilarious along with many other jokes. This episode I need to watch many more times just to catch everything because there was just so much. This episode is in my top five of all time Futurama favorites.

The self-referential humor was no good and it was a pretty boring/unfunny the whole time. The ending was pretty good, but the episode seemed pretty bad after last week's episode, "The Prisoner of Benda", and the earlier episode, "The Late Phillip J. Fry".

Probably the first big Omacronian episode since Spanish Fry. Kinda nice, although I kinda got bored through the whole midlife crisis involving Lrrr's date with the transpecies dress...kinda lame.

I also liked Fry wanting to become a comic book artist (only mentioned once in BIRDBOT episode). Especially Leela's comments on it. Also, this episode probably has Leela's greatest joke: "Yeah, you tried to eat me once.I was in your mouth for Five minutes." "LEELA?"

The Matt and David cameos??? Typical.

Really felt like an old episode they dug up somewhere. Comicon allowed the show to make some geek jokes that aren't always possible on Futurama. The overall plot was great. The "demise" of fry was way to obvious. The whole end was a bit too rushed. But overall a really solid, re-watchable episode that did more than earn it's way onto the shelf next to classic Futurama episodes.

The jab at F0X was more satisfying than funny, but the Orson Welles bit was brilliant -- good to hear Maurice LaMarche doing his Welles impression again (you may remember his version of Welles in Ed Wood).

Tight writing, too.

When I read what the episode was about, it sounded horrible. But from the comic-con, to The War Of The Worlds and Matt Groening's poke at Fox this was a near-perfect episode. Although, the ending with the gun mix-up seemed a bit obvious, but maybe that was just me.

I think we can safely say the show is back, just as good as it ever was. Every season has its share of run-of-the-mill episodes, and this is exactly how this one felt. Like a classic average futurama episode. Not to say it was good or bad, just somewhere inbetween - which is still very watchable and enjoyable.

Keep up the good work guys, hopefully this season ends on a high.

Well, the first act was really good, focusing on Fry's comic, offering a few good laughs out of the 3010 Comic Con, spoofing the cancellation of Futurama in a futuristic way, but after that, the jokes are lessened and the plot kind of becomes predictable when it almost totally focuses on Lrrr and Ndnd.

The twist of Fry not getting killed by the laser gun was already predicted very early on the episode, when they brought it up that it was a teleporter gun. It's a shame because the episode could have been left on a really good cliffhanger of Fry/Leela seemingly killed (like The Sting) and bringing it into a nice conclusion at the end of the next episode. Nevertheless, the scenes with Lrrr have mostly been done before (Spanish Fry) and it was kind of dragging on a bit. The Orson Welles fake movie scenes were good, but again, its all been done before (When Aliens Attack). Overall, the episode's first act was very strong, but the rest was average. I'll still give it a dead-on 4 out of 5 as a result, since the first act was very strong on its own.

I like episodes that aren't topical and political; standard sitcom plots (wifey fights, surprise parties, roomates with annoying girlfriends, etc.) are always better. Better charecterizion, better jokes. Any show loses something when it tries to make "A Very Special Episode." I liked this one. Good, solid, charecter-driven ep. That said, it was only good "for a new one." These are just not as good as even the lamest old-school eps. I'll take ten Cryonic Women over any of these new ones... well, at least a few That's Lobstertainments. You really CAN'T go home again, I guess. BTW, David Cohen's cameo didn't even sound like him, at least as I know his voice from the DVD commentaries. I think he must have been a little self-conscious...

The Comic-Con parody was nice and nerdy (Scruffy as Na'vi owns), Lrrr is again cool space monster with relationships problems and Katee Sackhoff's character was neat.

Fry and his comic were hilarious, but the ending of this ep is kinda predictable.

I loved the episode. I share similar opinions with those that have gone before. The plot wasn't outstanding but it was very enjoyable and to me, whilst I have enjoyed others, this is the first to really feel like an old Futurama episode - one that could've been plucked from season 3-4.

Loved seeing the Ozzy guy still mining!

Another good episode in the bag, although the Futurella segment was funny it seemingly suggests that the writing crew is running low on ideas towards the end of this new season. Also I thought preview for next week's finale looked disgusting. Don't mutate Fry - mutate a jerkwad character like Mom, or Wernstrum, or better yet NIXON!!!!!!!

I would give it a 3: Fry getting shot by the teleport gun was too predictable. Self referencing was a bit weird, with Matt and David. So there wasn't a 2nd Simpsons Movie in a 1003 years? Hah.. hah.. Futurella was funny though.

But I give an extra point for all the work Mo has done, switching from Welles to Lrrr to Kiff. And even a peep from Calculon. And if you know the famous Frozen Peas commercial (or Pinky and the Brain's episode Yes, Always) then it sounded quite familiar thus funny.

Not bad, but I've seen better Futurama episodes.

This episode is somewhere between an average and good futurama episode. I quite enjoyed it, but has been much better (and much worse) than this. A very good effort with some very good one liners - but also very predictable with poor pacing in the middle.

And remember a rating of 3 isnt "hating" the episode, it is "3 - Average", and "4 - Good". I would probably give this a 68/100 if we had a larger scale to work with. (i.e. 3.4/5)

I thought that this episode was a lot less interesting that it could have been. Lrrr is great in small doses and features in one of the best ever Futurama episodes, "The Problem With Popplers" but like Zoidberg, when given centre stage, he just doesn't deliver the quality of laughs or story. He's excellent as a bit character and should remain so.

I thought it was very strange that he ended up staying with the Planet Express crew when he was kicked out by Ndnd. That seemed way too forced to me.

Saying that, there were some good moments and great gags as always. Bender being on hand with frying pans for sale was great and Fry's comics were appropriately retarded!

The Comicon / Futurella stuff was a bit lame, it has to be said. Although Bender got it pitch perfect with his costume

How does this not have at least more than 82%?
The overall reviews for the past seasons are way more positive than on this new one. Our nostalgia for past episodes has become so big that we don't give the new ones the time to mean something for us.
It was fun, most of this season's turning out to be great material but one shouldn't ask for it to have the same effect as those seasons we've seen over and over, waiting. We should give this material more time to ripen, so to speak.

While it was interesting to see a Lrr-centered episode, I really don't think it worked out that well because it seemed a little too drawn out; it was OK for a one-time thing. The side story with Fry's comic was cute and showed his endearingly dumb side. Overall, it was pretty funny. I almost gave it a 3, but decided on a 4.

P.S. - People need to stop comparing all the new episodes with "The Late Philip J. Fry." They're not all going to be that extremely good all the time.

The "I'm every nerds fantasy" punchline was really one of the greatest of all times.
The head museum's billboard sign: "Cheech and Chong now on sale in our head shop" was one of the best quiet reference to the Hollywood.

Unfortunately a below average episode for me. Lrrr is one of my favorite secondary characters so this was a letdown. The jokes were tired and boring and the plot was predictable and old. The comic book part of the episode was terrible. The comic-con section and Welles saved this episode for me.

Wow...I usually agree with the majority of comments, but not this time. I thought this was a very good episode. Lurrr is a great character and it did not seem like a complete rehash of "Spanish Fry" but a continuation of the character.

I also loved the Comicon references. I actually liked Fry's comic doodle subplot. Sweet and sort of authentic..relating to what a middle school or elementary kid might write.

My question is will the Waterfall clan be back? In the movie I don't remember a family member discovering the body of the dead waterfall...I am probably wrong. Need to re-watch the movie. You can crush me but you can't crush my spirity...ow...my spirit.

Although this episode blows the water off the mediocre Killer App and Proposition episodes earlier in the season, it still ranks in my opinion as one of the lowest quality episodes of the set. The jokes seemed really forced, I rarely laughed at any segment that wasn't at the comic convention, other than the Orson Welles' rant on the radio which was the best part of the entire episode. The ending was rushed, and the comic book subplot was terrible. Not the worst episode of this season, but not even in the top 5 best.

Lrrr is a great character, So whenever he's in an episode I usually love it (The Problem with Popplers, When Aliens Attack and Spanish Fry) and this one was no exception. Comic Con in 3010 was hilarious, But there's only one problem that I had with this episode that prevented me from giving it a 9. It's that the taking over the Earth thing felt very tacked on and very short also it didn't really have a resolution. Besides that it was a great episode.

It wasn't a bad episode, but I'll agree with some of the other folks that the middle act seemed slow/off in it's pacing. Also sometimes the self-referencing works sometimes it doesn't. It didn't work all that well for me. Fry's comic was cute. I do like the Lrrr character, but even with knowing he's a Saints Fan I can only really call this an average episode.

And giving it a 3 doesn't mean I'm a hater, just that even within this season there have been about half better than this one and about half worse.

I don't know why thissun doesn't have a higher rating, I'd expect Fry's comic books to at least boost it past 70!

The jokes were funny, and they even did some new stuff with the old 'mid-life crisis' concept. Loved the comicon stuff, and the cross-species dresser was weird but still amusing at least in her first appearence.

My only thing was that they should have realized that gun was the Professor's transporter ray, how many bright purple ray guns are there? But still pretty solid in my opinion.

Fry should show his comics to Linkara. ;P

Despite my usual pro-futurama bias, I was not overwhelmed with this one. As Leela said, "Good ending. Not great."

I didn't mind this episode, the comic, the nerd festival at comic con... the cameo's by the ruling party members, and Lrrrr. Oh oh oh... mystery on the sheets, pool and lock! Bloody brilliant writting...

but

i'm going to nit pick here. Someone forgot to colour in Lrrr's horns in a few frames. tsk tsk tsk... rough draft korea's fault i am sure!

The Orson Welles cameo was brilliant. Unfortunately this episode was more Lady From Shanghai than Citizen Kane.

Worst episode of the season. The only good parts were when Bender and Lrrr went to a bar and the War of the Worlds reenactment. Fry's comic strip sucked! Fry can never be a hero, and the whole comic was out of character. Realistically, Fry would've been strapped to a bomb. He would've deserved it, too! Does he think Leela is a wimp? Leela should've ripped it up. It should've ended with Lrrr and Ndnd getting back together without Ndnd finding out Leela was hanging out with Lrrr.

It would've been a good episode if not for Fry's comic strip and the whole thing with Ndnd and Leela at the end.

A solid episode with consistently good humor, and far smoother pacing than most of the new episodes. I'd say that this one, while it has no aspirations to be a '5' or something memorable on the level of The Late Philip J. Fry, just feels more like an average episode from the original run, which is a compliment.

Billy West's acting during Fry's comic book recitations was a highlight of the episode.

I'm not usually someone who is scared of critique when it is due. But I don't get at all what people dislike so much about this episode. Granted, some parts of the Lrrt-Ndnd-story were a little lame. But the comicon part, the war of the world parts, the relationship between Leela and Lrrd (his character developed very well, him switching between tough and emotional was really funny)... all those were quite enjoyable. I also very much liked the professor in this episode. Generally, this one seemed very much like classic Futurama. Not the best Episode, for sure, but still very nice.

Well, ComicCon was funny, and Fry's comic book was so stupid it was great (c'mon haters, it's exactly the kind of thing Fry would write!). Other than that... blech. The main story was nothing but predictable, tired jokes about middle age.

OK. That's all this episode deserves, really only funny bits were Fry's comics. Weakest this season, and possibly weakest episode I've ever seen, don't ask me why, just didn't settle well with me. Probably 5/10 (which is a bad score from me).

Whilst it's certainly in the weaker half of episodes that 'Futurama' has produced, it's full of great jokes -particularly in act 1's Comic Con sequence and... well, Mauriche LaMarche as Orson Welles is always a treat.
I'm not a fan of how this episode represents one of the earliest "sub-character moves in with the protagonists" episodes from 'Futurama', a trope that became more and more apparant in 'The Simpsons' as the show began to go down the crapper, but if we had to have one of those episodes, it could have been a lot worse than this (as was proven by 'The Silence of the Clamps').

This is really not my favorite episodes. I only like Lrr in small spurts, like in Love and Rocket. When he's in the episode for longer periods of time, like in this one, it quickly becomes tedious. The only good part was the very beginning. :( :( :(

I liked this one because it shined a different light on Lrrr, who was mainly seen in the series' original run as "incompetent Earth invader". On the surface, it was a basic sitcom plot, but it kept the laughs going throughout. As a series that does "fake-out deaths" frequently, this wasn't one of the more satisfying conclusions, but on the whole, this was a solid half-hour that was somewhat ordinary but gave some lesser-known characters their deserved spotlight.
