Solid episode all the way up to the god part... then it was like everyone left the party and the show ended flat. I miss the old version of god that Bender meets in "Godfellas" (now that was an episode!). Anyway, love the new season, just don't be too afraid to bring back some of the old characters, besides I love when the robot devil sings!

It was an alright episode. It's tough to judge without multiple viewings, but this episode was very mediocre to me.
why, i reckon you ask? well, some things were very un-plausible(amish planet). i also don't want to keep seeing the same cast of characters(good-n-sexy) all the time. it makes the universe seem small.

anyways, i'm not hating too much, because i liked it. i just feel like griping.

After a good start into the 2nd part of season 6 last week, this one went back down a class. The stories always seem rushed and there is nowhere near as much depth to the show as there was in the original first 4 seasons. Now, I'm a big fan of Futurama since episode 1, but the show just lacks the cleverness these days. Let's hope this will change for the better.

This was a pretty solid episode, I laughed all the way through it, had some quite heart warming moments to for Bender & Fry.

A reasonably solid episode but nothing special (best of the new three so far though).

Should have made more use of the armish planet - in fact the crew seem very reluctant to go anywhere new or meet new people lately. Even new characters like Dr. GoodnSexy are getting repetitive already. (Why are they going to see her when they've got Dr. Zoidberg in the crew? oh more cleavage jokes, right :\ ).

Still, better than the truly horrific first three episodes of last season so fingers crossed it rises to the same standards that one did with The late Philip J fry and The Prisoner of Benda episodes...

:-)

Loved this episode! I thought Scruffy's "Bite my shiny metal ass" and the Ghostbusters reference were the best parts, but also liked the way Bender tried to scare Fry and eventually realising that Fry misses him. The Robot Devil again is used in top form and the Obamacare and Wikipedia jokes got me a laugh. The weakest part of the whole episode was the 1st act for me but thought it was still funny. Overall, alot of jokes, very good plot, and some emotion makes this Patric M Verrone's 2nd best episode so far for me. I'll give it a 5 out of 5.

Another great episode this season! Let's just get back to seasons that are of reasonable length and all will be well! (13 episodes does not a season make.)

I had just gotten back from watching Cars2 with the family to catch Futurama, and some of the sappy "friend" stuff was overboard after Cars, but it was still very solid. The Amish Homeworld was fun, and might have been explored a bit more.

I LOVED that Bender's ghost could possess electronics - very smart. But I object to said electronics then having the ability to defy gravity. Other than that, the haunting was great.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I loved the ending, particularly with Bender posessing GodBot. I also loved how boring heaven/GodBot were compared to the Robot Devil/Robot Hell. Way too cool.

Coulda used more with FortuneTellingBot, maybe, but that might have just felt like a The Honking II.

All in all another great episode!

Not a great episode. It had its moments, but overall the story and jokes could have just as easily come out of a late Simpsons season -- far too little Futurama-ish cleverness or science-y humor to be found (I did like the twist on cloud computing, but that's about it).

The first two episodes of the season, while certainly imperfect, at least focused their creative efforts on the kinds of jokes and plot lines that only Futurama can do. Anyone could have made this episode.

Well, it was good, I guess. The jokes were alright (some lines felt a little forced and stiff) and the story quite clever. The thing that bothered me is it's execution. Overall the whole new Futurama run has lost it's story telling paste. Episodes feel at some points rushed, unfinished and without a good ending. This episode had exactly the same problems. The ending ruined what could have been a fantastic episode. Oh, I also have another problem. It's the voice acting, it does sound a little crummy, sounds forced and doesn't stick to characters that well (like some of the lines). What happened to Scruffy's laid back style? Anyway, it's still a good episode by new standarts.

The episode made little sense. All the trouble they went through to devote an episode last season to how if Bender dies this it is. He has no way of backing himself up. That he needs to appreciate the life he has.

And then what do they go and do this season? Oh Bender is going to kill himself. DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Also weve seen God a few times in Futurama, why all of a sudden is there a different looking one?

Jokes were lame, and limited character depth. Feels like we already covered this path before, and the quick ending was a joke.

Also I dont care who you are, ROBOT DEVIL NEED A FULL SINGING NUMBER.

I must be one of the few people that didn't love this episode.

The pace was off in the first and final thirds; it would have benefited a lot from tighter editing. (For example, starting at the parade and eliminating the redundant and not particularly funny Robot God sequence would have allowed them to avoid rushing so much at the ending, which was simply incoherent.) And there just weren't all that many laugh-out-loud funny lines - I chuckled a few times but didn't laugh nearly as much as Benderama.

The biggest positives were the rather sweet Amish planet montage and some of the hauntings. Definitely not a bad episode - particularly for Season 6 - but I'd rate it just above average.

I found this episode to be highly enjoyable, and as Id predicted it was most comical and fun to witness Bender posses various machines in which to haunt with. The parade was an alright start to the episode and set it up well. I liked that it introduced a new futuristic concept and I have no problem willingly accepting without question that Fry hasnt heard of it before, after all, its Fry isnt it?...

The Robot Devil was totally on form, it was a nice surprise to see him used again. I loved the joke about the song, and seeing the Robot Devils disappointment in being asked not to play it again for Bender...

I had a slight problem with Bender being so mean and ruthless in his quest to kill Fry. I know hes a mean robot, but still. Thankfully he redeemed himself later on in the episode though. My favourite joke was Scruffys "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass" line and the graph going back up, that got a lol out of me. I wasnt too keen on a Fry sleeping with the Mayors wife line though...

Although I wasnt too keen on the Amish world, I also liked how it called back to the beginning of the episode; where instead of Fry saving the nerd from the spherical object rolling towards him; it was Bender who saved Fry from the spherical object rolling towards him. Nice way to tie the two events together...

Im amazed after having read through this entire review thread that one thing has not been picked up on as it was a major gripe I had with this episode. The nurse advised Fry that "No machines are allowed" on the Amish home world and then not long after the crew come visit Fry, Leela has her electronic wrist thingamajigger on, the very same wrist thingamajigger that Bender had used earlier on in the episode to slap Fry with several times. This bothered greatly as it seemed like a major contradiction and an obvious continuity error. I think Ill make a thread about this issue actually...

Another thing I dont get is all this praise for the animation. It seemed quite average to me, sometimes below average, and on one occasion Fry and Leela were so badly off-model that it took my mind right out of the scene before the scene had really started. It has to be one of the worst drawings of Fry and Leela that Ive seen on the show. It looked like something I would expect from the Futurama Comics. It was at 11:46 just after Fry had put the money into the Fortune-Teller machine. Didnt anyone else notice this? Apparently no other review so far has mentioned this appallingly off-model abomination...

The ending did feel a bit rushed, and the wrap up all a bit too convenient, but I would say this episode was better than the two last week, and one of the better new eps...

The first act is gold, the second act is hit and miss and the third act is kind of bad.
I like the concept of the episode very much, but it just isn't pulled off very well. A lot of this has to do with the direction of things rather than the writing - for example, I despise the ghost-design of Bender. We've seen robot ghosts before in 'The Honking'. They looked great. I know that Bender's reasoning for becoming a ghost is different to theirs so this isn't a continuity error, but it'd just make the episode that much better if he didn't have a cartoony, whispy tail. Things like that, combined with how lazy much of the episode feels (awful continuity regarding 'Lethal Inspection', it messes with the show's world in a big way and the resolution is horribly rushed -not to mention all the plot holes, most noticably being that if Bender can possess electronics, he could just possess a blank robot such as the ones seen in 'I Dated a Robot' and "come back to life" so to speak -at least long enough to get a new body built for himself or something of that nature). Anyhoo, that combined with a few bad jokes bring the whole thing down for me in spite of a lot of nice moments.
Sadly, it's one of the weaker episodes of season 6 (although far from the worst).

A little background before I start. Originally, the opening of this season was intended to be Silence of the Clamps. But, at the last minute, the executives at CC decided it sucked, (which it did) so they switched the opening to Neuptonia. In my opinion, this was a mistake. Although Neuptonia was less of an embarrassment than Silence of the Clamps would've been, it was still terrible. My question is: why didn't they switch the opening to this episode? They REALLY should've opened with Cold Warriors, but I guess it wasn't ready at the time. But, this was ready, and it was way better than Neuptonia. Now, for my actual review. This was a pretty good episode. It was less losely plotted than episodes in the last season, which made it more interesting and less tedious. Also, it was somewhat funny and kind of interesting. Overall, I think they could've done better, but it worked better than most of the new episodes.

Really fun episode that never takes itself seriously, which is fine, since sometimes Futurama needs to cut loose with the craziness and give sci-fi a backseat. It's not a masterpiece like the previous two Robot Devil episodes, but it's also hard to go wrong when using him. I thought the story started to bore a bit with the Amish planet, but everything prior was really fun with great jokes abound.
