I liked this episode. The first act was non-stop laughs, and the second and third were also rather amusing. I'd say this was on par with classic Futurama.
The only bad part is that some of those scenes with the filming of Leela's show felt like they dragged a bit.
Also, I loved Leela's line of "We all know that any half-decent show will always get cancelled."

While I love it when Katey Sagal sings...
This episode was only saved by lines from Bender.
The second you see her return from outer space the second time, it's blatantly obvious she's stealing material from somewhere.
The biggest laugh though is when Leela talks about good shows always getting cancelled. Sometime 2 or 3 times... For me that was a big laugh out loud moment (Similar to Fry commenting on what a phoney made up name Billy West was.)
If you like musicals this episodes for you...otherwise...Well if you're on this website I doubt you'll give ANY episode a miss and will want to see it for yourself.

In the words of Leela at the end of the episode "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!".
This was pure garbage, but with semi funny jokes running through out. I gave it a two only b/c of Bneder steping on children and his bling'd out make over.
For sure this will be at the bottom of all fans episode rankings.

Terrible. Hated it. Worst...episode...ever.

that is what comes to mind. really? this is what you thought was a good episode? futurama has indeed jumped the shark. like 'the simpsons' and all of the other 'adult' cartoons, it seems that we will have to sift through to find superb episodes now. wow.

It was not good at all. There a few 'funny' jokes but I did not laugh once. I agree with the view that Leela-orientated episodes are not great - you could tell after the first two minutes. Unlike a classic episode like 'The Late Philip J. Fry', the plot was boring and childish. I also detest the pop culture references - yeah it was not as bad as the Boyle one but Futurama is better than that.

I'm sorry but not every story has to be about bender or fry. Not enough Lela episodes. She wants to make the orphans proud but has to steal from these tele tubies like aliens to sell a show. Some interesting parodies of nickeldon shows and the ending is a typical screw you to both the audience and the characters

Have no idea why this is getting bad reviews. This episode was nowhere near as bad as the previous first four episodes of last season. Why this is getting the worst episode of all time vibe from some people is beyond me. I could probably think of at least a dozen episodes worst then this.

However, this episode had a pretty bad message. The ending was definitely not uplifting either.

So I guess with this one I do agree with others to have no more "Leelacentric" episodes.

I'm starting to realize that most of the main characters on the show are pretty unlikeable. This issue started with Futurestock, turned up in Law and Oracle's ending and now once again appears in this episode. Minus Fry and Bender (who you expect it from) the characters make fun of Fry's stupidity constantly and make him look like a loser. After this episode I would say Leela, mimicing Bender's traits, comes off worse than Bender. I almost think Bender has more heart than Leela and possibly cares more about Fry. There romance so far is non-existent and is not even alluded too. I don't want too much romance but I don't want it ignored either. Can't this show change it up a little bit? Can't we have a whole episode in space? Whatever I'm reading too much into this.

I would also like a Zapper episode. He's part of the reason why I watch this show. Its an average episode 3/5.

I think the first act and a half were solid, really on-par with a classic episode. I loved the return of the Orphanarium, and Leela's mission to be their hero and show them that an orphan can accomplish anything was nice to see. The episode takes a bit of a turn at the end of act two with the reveal that the Rumbledy Hump creatures are real (though I like seeing Bender blackmail--or is it extort?--Leela), but act three does its best to nail home the emotional point of the episode (that Leela feels remorse for what she did, but that she had good intentions), as well as presenting a (hilarious muddled) moral about being true to yourself or not disappointing people or being nice to orphans or...something. All in all, this was an enjoyable episode with a lot of funny moments; it loses a point or two for the missteps in the story come acts two and three, but I still liked it a lot.

When I saw that this was going to be a Leela-centered episode, I was expecting it to be pretty lame or too cutesy, and it was. What happened to the tough Leela who used to travel through the galaxy having adventures and always having to rescue Fry and Bender from things?

The source of Leela's inspiration was a good twist, even if I saw it coming, and I was glad to see the orphans have something good happen to them for once. It wasn't really funny, though; I think I only laughed twice or maybe three times, but that's it.

It was better than A Leela of Her Own, it had a happy ending, and it wasn't crude, but it wasn't funny and it made me miss the old Leela. I'll give it a 3.

Eh, this one is being met a little harshly. It was far from the best, but i enjoyed it more then Benderama at least. Not really sure why so many people think only this episode has been unfuturama like. I've felt the majority of this season, while funny, has not felt much like Futurama. Just too fast paced, and way too much wordplay. this episode felt a little more subtle, which was nice, but the jokes were indeed lacking at points. It gets a 3 merely for the first half.

It wasn't as ROTFL funny as some other episodes, but come on, I've seen worse (That's Lobstertainment, anyone?).

It was a cute episode. No swearing like last weeks, no violence. But hey, it doesn't need that -every- episode, does it?

So it's descent. Not a 5 pointer, but it deserves better than the 46% it currently has (that's a 2.3 points average!).

The first act was pretty solid, a lot of funny gags. Then it just fell apart. I wouldn't say it's the worst episode ever, but it's definitely the worst of this season. I already had low hopes just based on the name. A lot of the worst episodes have been Leela Centric. This, Attack of the Killer App, In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela, and A Leela of Her Own. I demand a GOOD Leela episode, dammit! Let's hope this is the only stinker of the season.

This made me sad. It felt like my best friend was being violated. Not saying that with a light heart. What show was this?

Where was the future? How and why is Fry familiar with Lady Gaga? Why on earth would the slurm queen leave Wormulon to appear at that crappy award show? Everyone was out of character. That is a sign of desperation. When characters do things they normally wouldn't do, and when the situations get more and more unlikely. Simpsons did it very slowly, but this was like a bomb. And it certainly did bomb.

How about some quality control, Futurama team? Do you not care about your show's integrity anymore?

It wasn't awful at all. It did have that sort of awkward ending that is becoming all too common in the new Futuramas. But my husband and I laughed a lot, even though it was fairly predictable.

I do agree with the poster who said that it seems Bender cares more for Fry than Leela does. How many times has he saved her life? Not to mention kept her from killing her parents?

#56 by Futurama was good...
I cannot express my vehement hatred for this episode enough. After a rough and uneven season 7, Futurama was apparently beginning to hit it's stride. The goofball Neutopia seemed at first to resemble the unfunniness and badly written plots that plagued the worst episodes of Season 7 (I.e, KIller App, Proposition Infinity, Darned Katz). But, the next 4 episodes slowly started to build momentum until last week, when the first episode in a long time hit every characters personality to a tee. However, this latest episode is not only a rape to the franchise so far, but also a bane to imagination in general.

Here, in the first act alone, we see a complete lack of originality. The first two minutes of the episodes are funny when the Orphan's tell Leela that her story was bad. It's true, the joke was created by something that happened in the story. From here, it's all downhill. In the very next sequence, Leela is trying to collect her thoughts to write a better story, but all of a sudden, the Planet Express crew comes out one by one to collectively make alot of very off-kilter noises. Now normally, if Bender had a love for putting on weird attachments to his body, or Fry expressed interest in brass instruments (not the Holophoner, that doesn't count), perhaps this scene could have worked. Instead, the character's are just making random noises for no reason other than the deliberate attempt to make a funny scene with the audience knowing Leela's trying to write. It's like the writers though "HEY, SHE'S TRYING TO WRITE, SO IF WE PUT IN NOISES TO DISTRACT HER WE'LL GET A LAUGH!" While your at it, let's throw in Acme style traps and Family Guy Chicken fights!

The bottom line is, Futurama is supposed to be a show that doesn't scoop to these lows of writing in stuff for the sake of a joke. Now, if the noise scene was my only complaint, I wouldn't have likely been bitter, but instead the rest of the episode is unbearable and unfunny. Immediately after the previous scene, we see Leela back at the orphanarium ready for another attempt of a story. Immediately after, we see Abner Doubledeal showing off shows in an attempt to make a snicker at Nickelodeon. However, instead of showing us semi creative spoofs of Nickolodeon's shows, we're shown garbage low-brow humor such as "Spoil Slut Clubhouse." REALLY? Like, a joke isn't funny just because one says something. There has to be buildup for a specific joke to work. At the very least, they could have commented beforehand about how bad the morals of Nickelodeon have become.

After that, I wasn't expecting much other than low-brow garbage humor. Instead however, the audience is made to endure 30 seconds of Leela babbling unfunniness to the children. In fact, it's not even cute, it's just nauseating. There was no punchline, and no point. And how is Leela rewarded for boring her audience? Why, the great Abner Doubledeal offers her a job on this Nickelodeon that was never even built up to have any personality for the audience to humor over! This leaves the second act opened for just lazy joke after lazy joke. Leela gets another joke about how Futurama was cancelled before by the so called idiots at Fox (this is overused, even Family Guy hasn't exhausted this joke to the extent Futurama has). Of course, there's the obligatory pop-culture reference in the form of Lady Gaga, which as another reviewer pointed out, how is her presence even relevant to the show? Once again, just mentioning something to make a pop-culture reference does not make it funny (atleast Family Guy usually has a humorous scene to backup their random pop-culture references). And the buildup to the third act leads to a shocking twist! Leela was basing her story on aliens from a whimsical planet!

Okay Futurama staff, have you really scooped this low? You can't call something that everybody saw 5 miles away a twist. The first time Leela mentioned her "quiet spot," it was relatively suspicious. But by the second time, we knew something was up because you blatantly told us it when Leela said "OMG I NEED TO GO TO MY QUIET SPOT.... TO THINK......" Of course, line of thinking doesn't even include the question of how the hell did Leela find this planet? Earlier episodes would have atleast had a small montage of how the character found whatever it is their source is, but this isn't even addressed here. The writers really seem to think the audience is stupid enough to just think Leela could stumble upon a random whimsical planet, that has no backstory or anything.

And finally, we have the completely idiotic finale act. Everybody finds out Leela's exploitative secret, but everybody seems perfectly okay with it. Why, the writers even thought that a purple carrot thing talking about plumbing would get a chuckle out of the audience, because you know, all purple carrots use the toilet!!! Leela seems to have an opposite reaction from everyone else, in that she feels like she took advantage of everyone and wants remo

Sorry for the double review post, but the site cut off the last part of my review due to space limitations. On with the review!

...Leela seems to have an opposite reaction from everyone else, in that she feels like she took advantage of everyone and wants remorse. Why, this seems completely forced doesn't it? I mean for somebody who conned everybody, but is now praised despite it, what reason does she have to be so sad stricken? The episode ends with a mind screw as everybody is apparently partying while making this story-show, whilst Leela screaming for remorse. The episode suddenly goes black, with no closure, no real conclusion.

So there you have it. The worst episode of Futurama ever. It was funny for less than 5% of the episode, and thereafter littered with lazy jokes, lazy plot, mortified character usage, and just the worst low brow crap I've ever seen. If there is ever another Futurama episode like this one, I will stop watching the series. This episode shows that at least some of the writer's believe the audience is stupid and can't think on their own. I do not want to watch that writer's show, and if I could give this episode a negative score, I most definitely would be -5'ing it.

Wow.....wow......lotta hate in this page. Well, considering this was a Leela centered episode, I was on the fence. While Leela centered episodes have given me my favorite episode (THE STING), those have also been the worst episode (currently....stil A LEELA OF HER OWN). So, I'll be brief........

THE GOOD:
I loved Leela singing her story (Katey Segal always great when she sings), the first filming of the episode had some good jokes (what can I Lick?!), and Leela's breakdown actually struck me funny that she went so mascho with her self-punishing tone (really, Lady....EASY!!) Oh, and best line of the episode goes to Bender.....(Oh, You're the worst kind of rich person!)

CONS: the Orphans honestly aren't that funny anymore, or not when they're used so often like in this plot. The script's also very, very predictable (I already guessed there would be a planet of cutey creatures even before the second act surprise....HA!!

Also, and this is just personal thinking.........NOT ENOUGH PROFESSOR IN THIS ONE!!!

Horrible. I only like scenes that were off the episode topic. Like the beginning with fry and zoidberg doing dace stuff and then blinged out bender, but THATS IT! This episode was plain terrible! Now this episode is #2 on worst Futurama episode list! Even "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela" was a better episode than this! At least that one HAD good, classic Futurama in it! This one has like NONE! I think it might be the worst! 2/5 I seen the preview of All The Presidents Heads on T.V and Act 1 of the episode looks cruel! I think it is really silly to say that Futurama has jumped the shark. Most of the episodes in season 6 (7-8) were very good. This on the other hand was absolutely horrible, especially since I was expecting a Leela themed episode, since she didn't really get that much screen time in the past weeks. Just a few lines were enjoyable, Bender helped me give this episode 2 out of 5 instead of 1 out of 5. Also Leelas comment about half decent shows getting cancelled was wonderful . Other then that everything was boring. There wasn't a single surprise for viewers. Big fail. Didn't think I would be so boared with a Futurama episode. Lets hope next week is better...

How on earth is this the worst episode of all time. This isn't even the worst episode of this season (score that to Neutopia) let alone some of the crap that was in last season (can anyone say In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela).

I must admit that I was concerned about this one as soon as I read the description but it was a solid episode with a nice combo of one liners and an actual plot. So the supposed "twist" was obvious after one or two trips to space. WHO CARES it is still funny.

Please be fair humble reviewers and get this ep out of the gutter.

Uhmm... It was the worst episode this season that's clear... Probably one of the worst in the series. Really bad jokes, with really bad story. Well, some Bender one liners could be some what funny but this episode just didn't work. I'm really happy that the shows's back, and there's been lots of awesome episodes since the return. But this episode was just... Bad. I still give it a 2, maybe too high, but as I said: SOME Bender one liners were some what funny.

I'm still looking forward of what the next episode will be.

While I think it was the weakest of the season so far (I mean of the 2011 episodes, nothing is worse than In a Gadda de Lella)...it wasn't as bad as these reviews make it out to be by far.

The ending was stupid, I agree, but the rest of the episode was well done and had tons of jokes that had me LOL. I love when they make fun of children (especially poor orphan children) because you never see that in comedy. Bender stepping on them? HAH!

Also, "Popular Slutty Girls" made me LOL...and Leela trying to write when the staff kept doing random things to make noise was awesome.

Very unfair grading here! (though the ending was a WTF)

Well, I thought this episode was good, but still one of the weaker episodes. The first act was pretty good, and I loved the part where everyone was annoying Leela by making loads of noise. However, the 2nd and 3rd acts were mediocre, and Doubledeal was the most interesting part of those acts. The Lady Gaga reference doesn't make sense since it wasn't Fry's era and these things are really getting on my nerves. The planet having the real monsters was really predictable but I liked their designs, and I really hated Leela in this episode until the last 2 minutes, which actually redeemed her somewhat. On the more positive side of things, at least it didn't focus on Bender. Nevertheless, I'll give this one a 3 out of 5, because I was still entertained and thought the episode had some cute memorable moments, despite the large amounts of errors in this episode.

Bender, as usual, was very funny in this episode. That's really the only positive thing I can say about it. It was blatantly obvious Leela was stealing material from somewhere and the ending...WTF kind of an ending is that? Even the title of this episode is dumb and makes no sense.

Definitely one of the weaker episodes seen in a while. The concept was fun, but lacked any kind of emotional pull. Leela episodes work best when Fry is somehow tangled in the web of the story. Not as bad as the WORST episode (IAGDL), but definitely not a highlight.

Not a great episode, there were a few good jokes but it was a bit boring. I dont think it deserves such alow rating... It was better than Neutopia, and better than several from last year (Rebirth, In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela, Proposition Infinity, the Lrrr one). I would have to say on par with 'that darn katz' not great but no extremely awful bits. The ending was pretty crapp though.

I don't mind this episode. I mean it's quite funny (Not gut-busting hilarious but humorous none-the-less) But I found myself laughing at a few parts. The funniest characters weren't the main ones in this episode and I found myself laughing more at the side characters like Warden Vogel (Although he seemed to have adopted an Irish accent in this episode for some reason) and Abner Doubledeal was also quite funny. Some scenes that I enjoyed came mostly in the first act (Popular Slut Club, Leela's original story and everyone making noise at Planet Express) So the first act was most defiantly the best part of the episode...

Although the story kind of dipped in the second act it still contained some laughs while the third act was pretty bland and uneventful (Besides the "big reveal") I do think the ending could have been much better, but it wasn't horrendously bad just not that funny (But I do like that the orphans were adopted and do wonder if they will return as orphans later in the series)

To conclude, I could compare this episodes humor to that of "That Darn Katz!" (More cute than funny and relies on the plot for humor rather than laugh out loud humor) And the plot is similar to "A Leela of Her Own" though I think this one is a little more enjoyable than that one...

My review; what a terrible terrible worthless episode. The subject matter and entire plot for this episode was so unnecessary and pointless. At several points during this episode I found myself asking if this was a Simpsons episode theyd forgotten to turn yellow? It felt much more like a modern day Simpsons episode than a Futurama episode. How is a plot like this making use of the future setting of Futurama? Dont tell me they couldnt do it on another show because of the other planet, not good enough!...

I was cringing with embarrassment at the crew dressing up as those shitty characters and going along with it. I mean really? What the fuck was I watching? Also did Dr Zoidberg really fit into that costume, or was that meant to be a joke? The Lady Ga Ga joke sucked as well. Im getting sick of these pop culture references, absolutely sick of them! The whole plot seemed forced to me. It was kind of annoying in the sense that until that Lady Ga Ga joke nothing really misfired, yet it was still so bland and offensive in the most inoffensive way. Having said that the Slurm Queen shouldnt have been there, stop fucking with past episodes!...

There were a few chuckles to be had, but this really is poor. I was very concerned at the premise, and the preview clip did nothing to reassure me. Sadly this episode was just as bad as I feared. If only Cubert had been there to laugh at them all and poke fun at their ridiculous costumes I might have had something to laugh at. It is still better than Holiday Craptacular, and not as boring as Benders Game, but thats not hard...

4/10

This episode was awfully childish and embarrassing. The very start with Leela trying to tell a story to the orphans was deliberately weak but in a way this reflected the whole episode. The pop culture references were lame. I want to see me more futuristic elements with more references to advanced science, math, and technology - not this kind of kid's crap. I agree with whoever said there wasn't enough of the Professor - you usually need him to come up with the more sophisticated stuff that make this series normally worth watching.

Definitely one of the worst episodes ever. Not sure how people found this one funny. I will say that its ridiculous how people are criticizing this new season just because of this one episode. Its nice how people have conveniently forgotten about the bad episodes in season 1-5. Let's not forget about "a lela of her own" which scored a 50% on this site. There were jokes, some hit and some miss but I'm starting to forget why I liked this show to begin with. There's a severe lack of charm in it lately and the current writers, probably some who were fans of the show from the start, have given up trying to stay consistent with characters, plot developments, and canon.

Why is Bender referencing Christmas? I mean he could potentially do so given that he has been around a while but everyone else calls it Xmas. Why does Fry make jokes about culture that came a decade after he was frozen? (*Lady gaga) Well... we all know the answer to that one... because they need to stay contemporary, but they've done so at the expense of their own story and they have taken on the mindset to just ignore it rather than draw attention to it. It's quite frankly, a betrayal. Now there've been good episodes and great ideas in this batch and this episode had its share of fun ones but... I'm bored with these characters. They seem less lived in and more puppets of the moment these days.
Maybe the guarantee of two more seasons will finally give the production team some time to really plot out a trajectory for the show because like this episode a staleness has set in. For me personally, it's not enough that Futurama be funny because it was so much more not too long ago.

Not one of Futurama's best, but also not the worst. This is, overall, just an average episode.

The plot seems absurd for a show like Futurama. But personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. This episode had its laugh-out-loud moments, but it also had its bad moments, such as the Lady Gaga joke. (I'd like to see less jokes like this for this season.) The episode also felt a bit childish at some points with the songs and all that, but since the plot does involve Leela making a show aimed at children, I can understand that. Though the episode could have appealed more to the age group of Futurama fans, and could have made more use of the futuristic setting of the show.

I don't think it was as good as the episodes from the past few weeks, but it's still decent. I'm still looking forward to the next batch of episodes. Overall, though this episode pales in comparison to other episodes from the original run, it wasn't the worst episode of the entire run, and Futurama has by no means jumped the shark just because of this episode.

Most of Leela-centered episodes aren't that great. This one however is plain terrible. The story was incredibly dull (everyone knew that there was something up with her sudden ability to write, it was illogical how Leela was at one point arrogant and then suddenly overly remorseful...). The jokes weren't funny, not even in a Family Guy kind of way. Sure, Zoidberg doing a tap dance is always nice, but the whole noise scene was so obviously forced that I couldn't enjoy it. And please, stop all these pop culture references!
Add to that the annoying musical scenes and you got yourself quite a mess. Generally, I'm not happy at all with the way Leela is turning out in this season. I can try to think of good things to stress out, but there aren't really any. Bender stepping on the orphan was kind of funny. The tap dance obviously. But that's it.

With all the hate going around here I see how it's unfair to say Futuramas dying go on and go back review ratings with this and CLASSIC seasons...

Each season has a low point that hits 60%. Those whining about CLASSIC Futurama are deluding themselves...

I've actively watched this show since 2000 to 2010 and own every episode I am a true fan and you cant expect every episode of every season to be gold...

I have seen the same comments said about Simpsons, Family Guy, South park, and American Dad... I've followed and watched all of these shows.

Every persons tastes are different, just because YOU believe they wrote a bad episode does not make it bad for everyone or even a majority.

Now then I can't say this episode was great or even good however i watched it till the end and didn't regret it.

My time is not important enough to be a snob unlike the other people here that obviously lose a hundred dollars each thirty minute break they take or at least how they rate and say doom and gloom over a episode in a season.

Absolutely abysmal. Please writers, stop writing Leela episodes! A Leela of Her Own, A Bicyclops For Two and now this travesty. How many more examples of the worst episodes of Futurama do we need before we stop with the Leela eps?

That alone would have made it poor, but the idea here is about as creative as what I'd expect from season 25 of the Simpsons, and it would fit in just as well on that show, with Marge replacing Leela. In fact, I think that would probably be a *better* episode on the Simpsons, but here, it's just painfully not what Futurama was ever about. Which I think can be boiled down pretty succinctly, by the way.

Futurama is supposed to be *clever* humor, with a *science fiction* or fantastical slant. You're supposed to be winking at the audience, not playing down to them. How hard is it to come up with a story idea in a science fiction universe as freely available and adaptable as Futurama's anyway? This isn't 500 episodes in, mind you.

"de gustibus non est disputandum". I like this episode. Why? Humor is light and unconstrained. I like the reference to children's television programs. Leela was not punished for her lies and it is a satire on some of the cartoons. There, in the final scene the characters moralize, and they talk in turgid speeches. Futurama is different :-)

As of right now, this has the lowest rating of all the Futurama episodes. I can see why. To be honest, I'm surprised this episode even got made. The premise is literally, "Leela writes a kid's show." It's a terrible idea for a show as awesome as Futurama. The jokes are not very well done, as the writers have gone back to making senseless pop culture references. The singing is hard to watch, and nothing really gets resolved in the end. There have been some bad episodes this season (Attack of the Killer App was horrible) but this was the only one that I didn't watch to the end.

Poor 'Yo Leela Leela'. It's not bad at all. The reaction its had genuinely baffles me. It's funny, being one of few episodes to actually have me laugh out loud more than three times in its runtime and it features a reasonably fun, sci-fi twist that's in-keeping with the show's nature.
The songs are far superior to the Holiday Craptacular and the ending is a gloriously dark subversion of oh so many sitcom happy endings.
I'd go so far as to say that it's one of the best Leela-centric episodes. It can't hold a candle to 'Leela's Homeworld' or even 'The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz', but it's miles ahead of stuff like 'A Leela of Her Own'.
Is it the worst episode of all time? No. It's not even the worst episode of 6B.

To 'derpy hooves'. For those of you who haven't read his review, he said that this site has too many over-critical fans who expect too much from the show. To him, I say that if this is all you expect from the show, this episode is clearly the only comedy you've seen in your entire life. You have obviously never seen any of the old episodes, and probably not many of the new ones. This episode was awful. Almost none of the jokes worked. It was totally uninteresting. The orphanarium was awful, making it a disgrace to Leela. The only part I liked was those little Rumpeldy-Hump creatures singing about the words they'd never say. This wasn't the worst episode of Futurama (Proposition Infinity wins the prize for that, hands down), but it's certainly down there, and it deserves the 40% approval that it's got.

ok people... 51% - 54% this show may not have been great, but it is way better than the holiday spectacular. I seriouslly can't watch certain parts of that episode. Or The baseball episode... If i could give this a 6.5/10 i would. 3.5/5 as there isn't that score it's a 3.

But c'mon, a bad futurama is on par with a good simpsons episode. This is in no way dropping the ball, but a story about writers themselves 'paraphrasing' other peoples ideas.

First of all, one word has to cap off this episode: Horrible.
You got overrated pop culture references, the crew dancing in a clown show and terrible jokes.

The Pros:
-Bender's lines which saved this episode from being cancelled(probably).

The Cons:
-Pop culture references, such as Fry telling Leela she is like a Lady Gaga-esque fame hag(Really?)
-Terrible jokes disincluding the lines of Bender
-It was humiliating when the crew
danced around in crappy costumes.
I can't tell if I was watching Nick Jr. or a poorly made episode

To wrap this up, I give this episode a 1/5

Maybe it's because we're approaching 30 and have a daughter, but my husband and I found this episode to be very funny. There's some real crap TV out there exploiting kids (Dance Moms, anyone?) so we both got a laugh out of "Popular Slut Club" and the "Extreme Toddler Wrestling." I found the song "If it's alive, don't lick it" to be really funny. Perhaps the humor is lost on people who don't have kids because they've never had to fish caterpillars and stink bugs out of their child's mouth. The qualm that I have with the episode is that Leela's fame went to her head and she acted too much like she did at the end of "I Second that Emotion" what with the Bender influence and all.

An outstandingly poor episode. The very premise is enough to deflate expectations--"Leela makes a pre-school television show." And this is one case in which giving even that weak premise the benefit of the doubt does not pay off. Heavily reliant on contemporary pop culture and current Kids' networks (specifically Nickelodeon) to the point where it's very difficult to believe it would be remotely relevant in the Futurama universe. Most of these jabs being forgettable groaners at best doesn't help ease how uncomfortable the premise is.

The biggest issue I have with this one is that it feels way too much like an episode of The Simpsons (or Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, etc for that matter), or rather a Simpsons plot that got retooled for Futurama. It doesn't help that The Simpsons tackled the same material over a decade ago in a much clever, funny, and memorable fashion.

Even the ending, which was trying to go for a dark "corporate victory" seems more forced and uninteresting than how Futurama pulls off that material.

Lastly, has anyone noticed that Bender has a habit of being the best part of even the weakest Futurama episodes post-cancellation?

Nowhere near as bad as some of these ratings would suggest. It's not great, some can even say it's not good, but by listening to the commentary for the episode the writers were drawing a lot from their experiences as parents. Why does everyone hate this episode so much? It's much better then that next episode, "shivers".

Yes, some jokes didn't work out so much, and the idea wasn't all sci-fi like the show, but it was still pretty good.

For once, it had the nice Leela we could expect from Season 4, and everyone was in character. The only thing I really didn't like was the ending. It wasn't as good as the whole episode.

My language has been clean in most of my reviews but...this episode is a piece of shit. Futurama's past showbiz episodes have been pretty flat ("That's Lobstertainment", anyone?) and prove that modern-day Hollywood jokes just don't work in the 31st Century. But this was even worse than usual. Boring and predictable story and "twist", unfunny Hollywood jokes that were done better 20 years ago on The Simpsons, and a total waste of the orphans, who are usually good for some dark humor. Down there with "A Leela of Her Own" and "Proposition Infinity" as my least favorite episode of the series.

I find this episode to be completely ok. Leela-centric episodes usually tend to be more miss than hit, while this one kinda achieves what it set out to do. All Leela really wanted was for the orphans to be happy and have fun watching cartoons for kids which is fine, we all grew up watching them.

Yes, it was wrong of her to rip off Rumbledy-Hump as it wasn't an original concept, but others probably would've done the same. Nice animation, ok songs, but doesn't offer much beyond that.
