Loved it! Had a great classic Futurama feel to it. Coming from a true fan, this episode was great in so many ways. The call backs, the montage, and the fry/leela relationship. I'm glad we (kinda) figured it out. haha.

Some of Ken Keeler's scripts tend to be more clever tha "ha ha" funny, but that does not make them any less enjoyable, and this episode, with a terrific ending, Nibbler and Cubert, continues the run of strong late-season episodes.

Not a troll my good man. Just a diehard Futurama fan who has been disappointed by this episode and this season as a whole. Also, why would a troll still give it a 3/5? A 5/5 is like saying it was near perfect, and this was no perfect episode in my eyes.

Gotta rate it a 4 for this message though so i don't lower the score unfairly.

Episode reminded me of "Lethal Inspection" (Mom has it in for Bender), "Godfellas" (Bender becoming omnipotent), "Obsoletely Fabulous" (which reminded us that Bender is a "primitive" unit) - all of these were good episodes, by the way - and, most interestly, finally acknowledged the fact that the Fry-Leela relationship is an "on-off" thing in a clevere way.

A taste of the new, and a taste of the old. A perfect combo! Before this episode I thought the only problem with the new episodes was Fry and Leela's relationship because she used to say no in the olds and always yes in the news. This convinced me that it was meant to go back and forth. Ken Keeler presented another great and well written humorous episode with not only good laughs, but the emotions were there to, something that makes some past episodes stand out (i.e): parasites lost, love and rocket. Overall: 5/5

Finally... this felt the most like the Futurama that I loved years ago than any episode of the season. It seems F/L can now be considered together... well until Season 7 reset button, perhaps?

But in "The Farnsworth Parabox" episode we've seen a perfect example of F/L couple that doesn't ruin concepts of show. It's parallel Fry and Leela from another universe ("The Farnsworth Parabox" episode). It proves that they can be even married and still work at Planet Express without doing any harm to Futurama concepts.

But for now "Overclockwise" is the best episode since "The Late Philip J. Fry" for me! Very touching ending... that's all i say, guys.

The humour was there this episode, classic Keeler humour. While I was very content with a brilliant ending, for most of the ep, i didn't like what appeared the random directions of the plot. Leela leaving for no good reason, Bender becoming something outside our own reality. For that reason I'd still say there are no episodes this season yet, that managed to crack the "classics" as The Late Philip J. Fry was able to.

Brilliant ending, good jokes, all 3 acts very solid and entertaining. This episode is probably in my top favourite with Late Philip J. Fry and Luck of The Fryrish, if not the most favourite. Best episode of season 6b. One of the best episodes ever made. With renewal this episode has momentum. Hopefully, they don't push the reset button again. Now with that aside here's what I want from season 7a.

What I want
- Zapp coming back in a big way. Messing with Fry and Leela's relationship has to happen.
- Fry and Leela's relationship goes somewhere next season.
- More Zoidberg please.
- Crazy adventures on different planets.
- A Zapp, Fry and Bender pairing.
- The truth about Scruffy.
- A twist like a new character from the a post apocalyptic future who turns out to be Fry and Leela's son. Maybe he dies when Leela gets pregnant, creating a time travel paradox.
-Finallly, more Bender.

What I don't want
- Stop with the random pop culture references.
- Have plots that go forward and not create discontinuity. Law and Oracle/Proposition Infinity come to mind.
- No, more ensemble adventures.
- Go back to the orginal music. Show cartoon blips.

Well for me that covers it. Overclockwise proves that when Futurama moves forward and no longer stalls, great episodes happen. I give it a 5/5.

Really great; I can't think of anything major to complain about. But who is Randy? I don't remember him, but I haven't seen all the DVD movies, so maybe that's why.

There was a lot going on in this one, but it didn't cross the line of becoming an ADD episode. There was just the right amount of Cubert, as too much of him gets tiresome. Leela wanting to leave did seem random, but there was so much else going on that it didn't seem necessary to go into more detail.

Personally, I don't care if Fry and Leela's relationship goes anywhere; if they do get serious, then the show risks becoming bogged down with relationship drama, which can really ruin a comedy show (anyone else watch Chuck?). If they ever do get married and/or have a baby, it shouldn't be until the actual series finale. Leave all that drama out and stick to the comedy/sci-fi/action aspects of Futurama; this isn't The Office.

The Fry/Leela-relationship just felt cheesy in the beginning, but what actually saved it (or turned it around) was when Fry fell of that bridge.
The whole overclocking-part on the other hand was great.
Also.. shouldn't Cubert be around 23 years old by now ;)?

From the Wiki:

"Overclockwise" was originally planned to be the series finale of season 6, but it was later moved to the penultimate episode to make "Reincarnation" the finale.
As "Reincarnation" is a non-canon segmented episode, however, "Overclockwise" is seen as the "proper" season finale.

The episode was written in 2010, before the series had been renewed for another season, and much like "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" and "Into the Wild Green Yonder", "Overclockwise" was written as if it was the last episode ever of Futurama.
As such, Ken Keeler was once again in charge of the writing, making this his third 'last episode ever' for the series.

Easily the best episode of the season and within my top 5 instantly. I loved how the F/L relationship was adressed that sudden - everyone was waiting for it and I guess everyone was as surprised as me in that moment. Introducing Randy as Fry's friend was plain hilarious! I'm sure John DiMaggio was behind that :D
Too much great stuff in this one to talk about it all - jury verdict, collies, falling fans, license agreements, 12 TB of outdated catchphrases, the fact that in 1000 years computer games will be totally pixelated.............

I think it's funny how we all b*tch about what we think about the Leela/Fry bit. Personally, I could do with LESS of it, and I pray they never get together permanently. I do think the writers are smarter than that, and anyone as old as me understands why (read: Moonlighting syndrome)

Anyway, this episode was fun with a couple hilarious jokes, particularly around the video game "It's my brain against your Van Braun." HIlarious, but other parts were just kinda boring, and at times sappy.

All in all, a good episode, but not great. One of the few so-so episodes of this phenomenal half-season.

But I TOTALLY understand that many people thought this was great. We all just have different tastes.

To summarize: Lots of individually amusing jokes, but the episode as a whole is a huge mess and tries to do way too much in 21 minutes.

I liked this episode less the longer it went. The pacing was so quick that it ends up glossing over what should be big character moments, with Fry and Leela's relationship thrown into jeopardy out of nowhere and resolved pretty much the same way. There is something 'happening' in every scene, but none of it has any real weight. It gets so bad the episode has characters announcing that they've entered the scene JUST BECAUSE. They spend way too much time cramming in side characters and not enough time cramming in main characters. (And, to nitpick as one does, what the crap happened to Randy's voice?). From a writing and pacing perspective, this episode is rock bottom. Rock. Bottom. It's going into a hole with Yo Leela Leela (which I now remember fondly for some reason) and the Holiday Craptacular, where I will mock it until I find something else to do.

Don't get me wrong, there's still a fair number of genuine laughs to be had buried throughout the episode, all tied to the haphazard framework of the plot in one way or another. Additionally, the animation was generally strong and well put together. I felt like this could've been a really strong episode- and in a few ways, it was- but it's a huge waste of potential in every other way imaginable. Glad they got renewed, because frankly if this had been "the last episode" I'd have been hugely disappointed.

Another fantastic final episode for Futurama! This episode had a very entertaining plot of Bender overclocking himself and providing hilarious moments every minute he's seen, while Fry and Leela's relationship comes to another milestone in this episode. I also found this episode having the best courtroom scene in the series so far, with the Professor, Cubert, and Bender stealing the show this time around. As for the final scene, it was very touching and clever, as Fry and Leela now know their ultimate fate. Once again, Futurama ends on a high note and I couldn't be more pleased with it. 5 out of 5.

This was an average episode at best. I don't understand how this has a 92% (at the time of this review). Come on people, a true Futurama fan can see that this show is going down hill and it makes me sad. This season the jokes (if any) are lacking and the heart and soul of the old Futurama is missing. The reason I gave this episode a 3 is because we got a glimpse at that heart again at the end of the episode.

This episode sees a return to the classic style scripts of the original runs. The whole series has included more adult and serious issues, but still managed to balance humor with pathos. Can't beat that comedy/tragedy mix.

Highlights:
Original Bender plays video games as well as me (My COD online ranking is rank!).

Comment about modifying a gadget that you own was priceless.

Who didn't see Zoidberg getting lamped by the fan in the courtroom?

Fry and Leela's foreknowledge essentially closes the "will they/won't they" plotline without revealing a thing. Genious.

Ah, they are really back in the field... great episode, great story, great Futurama-ish jokes (the jury collies were the best). I thought however that the Leela story was not very well-executed. Yeah, I know, season finale, so throw the ones waiting for something to happen between the two a bone. I really wish that they either finally have them get together or have them for once and all NOT get together. And if they understandably want to keep it in between they should at least do it a little more careful. Episodes like in-a-gadda-da-leela completely ruined their relationship this season, so I hope they do better.

Not everything was perfect... like I said, the Leela subplot seemed somewhat random and like in some previous episodes, too much happened in too little time. Still, this was a great episode of a great half-season and a worthy season finale.

This one was pretty good! Only issue I have is with the way Fry and Leela discussed their relationship. The way it was done just seemed completely unnatural and not really in keeping with anything we've seen before. Still, it had a nice ending.

Excellent episode! It had everything: laughs, emotion, sci-fi, and a continuation (and explanation) of the Fry/Leela arc. Yes, is was crammed full of stuff, but thats the format, folks. What we REALLY need is NOT less-crammed episodes, but FEWER ADS! Hopefully there will be some good outtakes on the DVD.

Some of my favorite bits:
+ The books Bender sped through. (Thanks to an earlier post for listing them. Even with pausing I missed some.)
+ Jury collies.
+ Benders trap for Moms bots.
+ The setup for a big musical number (Nibbler on the Roof) then not having it! (I think this was a meta-joke: a gotcha! to all the fans who hate the singing.)
+ Hang em both!
+ The many character cameos.
+ The ending (I liked when L slapped F, then F slapped L).

Some minor gripes:
+ Would a clone REALLY be legally considered the same person? I certainly hope not.
+ The video game looked TOO old school. It would have been funnier if it looked even MORE real than Futurama itself.

Thats it. Heres hoping the next episode is as good as the Holiday Spectacular (yes, I one of the apparent few who think that that ep. is vastly underrated).

As a fan of Futurama any new show
is a great event, some shows are just better than others. My big complaint is some art work is not on par with the original episodes.
One plot question, how could Leela change jobs without a carreer chip? You got to do what you got to do.

I feel nailed. :)

In every sieries there is the total unchanging core. Here I feel its Leela and Fry and im happy I lived long enough to see when the writers finally make an UNCHANGABLE change in a core this deep.

I liked it, but due to some parts which irked me I can't say it's perfect. I like the concept, Cubert was clool, and it was quite nicely executed. I didn't like how forced Fry and Leela's relationship was and some of the voice acting was off. A few other bits also...

'i hacked myself inside out, and now the entire universe is my processor'
excellent, amazin' and awesome just don't sum up how brilliant this episode was !! the plot was great, the writing was superb, and the animation was spot on. zoidberg being hit with the ceiling fan, bender in the cooling plan and the jury collies did it 4 me, and i thought the hoverfish 'sentinals' were cool. it was great to see fry and leela discussing their fate at the end, that last look they gave each other was something special 4 every shipper ! this should have being the last episode, so lets hope the next one lives up to it!

It amazes me how any sort of bad review for the episode is automatically trolling. Futurama fans can be an ignorant bunch.

Anyways, i gotta agree with those who were underwhelmed. The jokes just fell flat for me, and the Fry/Leela arc very forced. Still think they can come up with something better then Leela leaving and then coming back with a changed mind. Still, something was amusing about this one. Farnsworth was as hilarious as always, and i enjoyed the Bender story. Still, nowhere near the quality of a good pre-cancellation episode. Just my opinion of course.

Commence troll accusations.

I liked this episode. Though I felt that the Fry and Leela story should have been more of an A story rather than the B story of the episode.

If I can offer some advise to the writers. Make sure Fry and Leela's relationship is addressed in much more detail and story at the beginning of Season 7.

Some may say that this new season of Futurama is bad, or some like me may say it is good, but not as great as it was when FOX aired it. But This episode was a classic, good episode. The ending with Fry and Leela was sweet... :) First Cold Warriors a good episode, then this classic. Two in a row, good job Futurama. ;)

I'll start by getting the bad out of the way:
This episode doesn't make enough use of its (absolutely outstanding) premise of Bender becoming a God-like being due to being overclocked.

Now for the good:
Everything else.

The episode ties up the messy handling of Fry and Leela's relationship throughout season 6 into something of a rather nice story-arc.
The story makes good use of the show's core cast without any of them feeling crow-barred in.
It's very funny.
As already mentioned, the concept of Bender becoming almost omnipotent is just delicious.
The final seconds of the episode make up one of the most touching moments in the show's history (which is saying something when you talk about 'Futurama'). I genuinely nearly shed a tear.

'Overclockwise' is without doubt, the best episode of 6B and the 2nd best episode of season 6 as a whole after 'The Late Philip J. Fry'. At times, it feels like a shame that they didn't make it a 2-parter so as to have more time to do the concept justice, but still, what we have here is a tightly-crammed, 22-minute long bit of brilliance.

the jokes and the main history in the ep was good, but the leela side story was pointless and borring.
try to come up with something more original then that leela wants to leave and not sure if she wants to be with fry... getting old.

What a great episode!!!

The Fry/Leela stuff seemed a bit forced but everything else worked well for me.

I loved juiced up Bender and his omniscience. Also jealous Bender: "Randy, have you been hanging out with Randy?!" was hilarious.

I love the judge and the chicken lawyer every time!! What a brilliant season.

I agree with 4LegsGood. Say Fry & Leela do get together. Then what? The tease of the two has been half of the entire program. If they are together next season, someone needs to come along and f*ck it up within a few episodes. Maybe zapp, he's always fun.
This episode was fine, but I think people are going overboard because of the ending. The story with bender was pretty weak, and alot of the fry/leela story didn't make sense. Thinking back now I can't actually remember why Leela left. Overall, it was good for a few laughs and the ending was nice, so I think a 4 is about right.

This, folks, is the best episode of the season. For those of you who are familiar with both the new episodes and the old episodes, you know that most of the old episodes were superb. They were interesting, funny, exciting, romantic, and moving. You also know that the new episodes are less of all of these things. They're completely uninteresting, for the most part, only mildly funny, not at all exciting, romantic, or moving. However, the last 4 episodes in the season are the exceptions, and this is my favorite of those. This is an exception for a bunch of reasons: it has Mom (one of the things I've constantly criticized the new episodes for is not having enough of the recurring characters), it's funny, somewhat interesting, a bit exciting, and most of all, moving. The end was genuinely moving and reminded me of such episodes as Love and Rocket and The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings. All of the last 4 episodes were much better than the rest of the season, and they give me hope that the next season will remind me more of the old episodes. So, I'm counting on you, Futurama. Please me.

I've always enjoyed the love-story arc between fry and leela. indeed i agree that the show would be bland if they finally got together. however, do not underestimate the writers.. judging from how often they refer to continuity of the show, I'm fairly confident they have something in store for both leela and fry. remember the episode, "the why of fry"? nibbler referred to leela as "the other one"... I STILL dont understand what he meant by that, but I'm sure the writers will reveal when the show finally concludes.

back to the episode.. superbly written and executed. i thoroughly enjoyed the jokes and the drama (leela leaving, fry upset, etc). i eagerly await upcoming season 7.

Very sweet episode with some great sci-fi wackiness, but I feel it would have been even better with less courtroom scenes and more Bender being omnipotent. As a standard episode, it was very good, but it wouldn't have been amazing enough if it were truly the series' end. Luckily it wasn't.

It was okay, but wouldn't have been a fitting end to the series. In my opinion it was the weakest of the show's "series finales." Clearly the whole episode they were just building up to the final minute with Fry and Leela, but the build up didn't really make sense. Why did Leela leave in the first place?

Anyways, not a bad episode, just a little rushed and overly ambitious, and rated WAY too highly.

Maybe the best episode of the re-run along with the Late Philip J. Fry (haven't seen season 7B yet). Actually the whole Bender intrigue is brilliantly introduced, evolves brilliantly and is brilliantly concluded, and by the way it includes brilliantly the Farsnworth trial and finds a brilliant way to solve it. Plus the outstanding Bender and Zoidberg one-two punch at the end of the trial. A really well-thought-out episode. Could have rivalled the pisodes of the original run except... the "Leela leaves the company so Fry got the blues"-thing is (extremely) rushed.
