Great episode to end the season with.

Loved the 8 bit version!

Tempest and Space Invaders in the structure of the snail, Dig Dug, Punchout "Body Blow!". LOL

Although the Voltron theme of Action Delivery Force was awesome, as well!

Loved the perfect English. "The list of things I've heard now contains everything!"

I would have been content if they ended the series here. Well, they're not ending it, so I can do nothing but hope they can keep up the good work. The episode was sublime, and I was smiling from start to finish. All in all, I'd say it's been a good night.

In the long run, the season wasn't quite what I had expected to be since the days when we wanted it brought back, but it sure as hell didn't disappoint. Futurama forever!

Mr. Groening, if you are reading this then let me tell you: If season 7 and 8 has shown me anything about futurama, its that the more the central plot revolves around abstract Sci-fi material, the better the episode turns out to be. This series NEEDS weird, and then fills the rest of the char. development and comedic holes by itself. In this episode, it was apparent because 1 black and white section was kinda funny, 8 Bit section was ridiculously awesome, and anime style section was really funny. Great episode, loved it.

Keep it Super Sci-fi! :)

(Maybe an episode where the cast each transform into some transient matter that constantly makes their forms imitate their thoughts.) =)

This was quite funny!

Act 1: a Steamboat Willy -alike cartoon. Groening had done it before, but only for a few seconds, I believe in one of the intros to an episode. Everybody and everything is happy and singing. And dancing, being mocked by the professor raising and lowering the telescope for Leela. Funniest moment: the beautifulest color, done in a greyscale...

Act 2: loads of videogame references, as mentioned above: Tapper, Tempest, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Punch-Out!, Galaxians, Donkey Kong (logs), Super Mario (tunnel).

Act 3: any Japanese animation. Little reference to AYBABTU (bad english): "Fire a the weapon" ("Somebody set up us the bomb"). Bender swapping his head by .. another head! Great musical score, too!

Oh, too numerous funny references to name them all. So I just go ahead and give it 5 points.

A great episode and a high note to end the season. Unlike the holiday ep, this one had three full, coherent stories, and none felt rushed.

They also improved with time; I smiled at the black-and-white cartoon, laughed at the 8-bit version, and cracked up at the Voltron piece.

(I suspect that having such a stylized look helped with suspension of disbelief - it was obvious they weren't canon and so slightly exaggerated characterizations also made sense.)

Writer(s) - thanks for redeeming my faith in the Tales of Interest format!

Amazing! This three-segment type of episode is even better than the Anthologies of Interest!

Wow. Everything about that episode was amazing. All three parts were just so cool.

Favorite parts of each scene:

Fleisher: Alien ending and Leela's comment on how quiet/peaceful it was.

8 Bit: 'such detail', the mario clouds.

Anime: EVERYTHING!!!

I was not impressed by this episode. While some of it was mildly funny to me, it was at the expense of 30 last minutes of precious new Futurama content for the season. And I got the impression that the writers felt that, since they had done some gimmicky humor for a specific subset of their fans to enjoy, they could slack off on the high-quality writing that Futurama usually boasts. But at least this episode wasn't offensive like Ina Gadda de Leela. If nothing else, it made me realize how grateful I should be for "normal" Futurama. Thank God I live in this century and not the past!

Actually, the anime one I thought was the weakest. Some good jokes, but could have been a lot better. I just feel they wasted most time on to explain the story instead of exploring in depth how anime-Futurama looks like. However, the black and white one was awesome. The music was spot-on, the story smart... and the second one was clearly the best to me. I don't know, I just love old-time video games and clearly, so do the Futurama writers.

Of course, it's a senseless episode, but who cares? Futurama ought to be enjoyable and funny in a sci-fi kind of way and that episode clearly was.

Brilliant episode. Even though they were in different alternate universes, the characters we all know and love still came through. I just imagined these 3 mini-episodes as peaks into 3 of those boxes from Farnsworth Parabox. :D

PS. Trolls who grade 1's and 2's should really just not bother and watch another show (or rewatch 'classic' Futurama).

Oh god! This was a great way to end the season!

First story: Made in old black and white colour but all the characters are kind of jumping. And the buildings (like some very old Mickey Mouse episode) Really well done. We heve seen this before in few seconds in The beast with a billion backs, but I like this one more since this one had more jokes. The ways Fry "died in" (but he didn't) was hillarious.

Second story: My favourite, the 8 bit animation! This one had tons of game references! Dig dug, Mario,Donkey Kong, Space Invaders just to mention some of them. Top Class. Oh yeah, also one of my favourite guests stars was in this one: Stephen Hawking! (he and Al Gore is awesome) As I said... My favourite of the three.

Third story: Truly a great parody on anime. Bender looked absolutley awesome! But the real highlight for me in this episode was the proffesor. I liked the way he talked in and how he got a new voice for the role. "We can't laugh! If we laugh we will be defeated!" I also like Hermes wearing around his sword (katana? I think it was a katana) around, although he did paper work!

All in all: Three great original stories by the best show. And a great way to end the season! Wow, this one might be another in the top ten episodes! I think it beats Anthology of Interessts 2!

"A wise man once said that nothing really dies. It just comes back in a new form. The he died." LONG LIVE FUTURAMA!

This is possibly one of the best episodes of the series.

A true visual feast, with lots of great, funny gags. One of the best aspects is that each segment continues an overarching story, which means less wraparounds, and more segmented goodness.

This episode is going to go down as one of the all-time greats.

I have a feeling the ones who didn't like this episode don't appreciate the different styles. Also.. why is everyone expecting so many jokes?! This isn't family guy! To those who turned it off after the first part, that was a mistake because you missed the best part(anime segment). Anyone who is giving this under a 3 has problems. You could at least respect the creativity.

OMG! What an incredible way to end the season. This episode was so clever and fun, and it really wrapped up what has been a phenomenal 1/2 season. This episode will go down as one of my favorites to watch. Every frame was a feast for the eyes!

As far as the individual segments:

1. Glorious to watch. Thank you thank you thank you. My only complaint is that the whiny Fry/Leela relationship has played out, IMO, and I think the writers should just leave it alone for a while. HOWEVER, it played very well as a joke in this wonderful piece.

2. Abstolominously fantabulastic! Spluh, one of the greatest bits EVER. The jokes were hilarious, the animation was beautiful. My favorite bit was probably the solution to the universe being illegible on the 8 bit blackboard.

3. OMG! I was totally busting up. Voltron, Battle of the Planets and Robotech music throughout! Wow! WOOOOOOW! My only complaint is that a lot of the animation was way too judicious for Japanimation (as we used to call it back in the early days!). Anime is generally very "economical" and reuses frames and cells as much as possible, so, while the style was beautiful, and they clearly knew this (with the Bender watching Zoidberg's dance joke), they were being a bit generous in the number of frames we got. I LOVED that Farnsworth's voice was changed.

Anyway, best episode of an incredibly good 1/2 season.

Now, let's just get back to full 26 episode seasons, so I don't only get a 1/4 of a year's worth of episodes every year.

Many people seem to have really enjoyed this episode but I did not find it especially funny. I did noot laugh aloud once but I reckognise that some of the humour was clever in terms of being a spoof. However, the plot to all three tales was disineresting and the emotions of the characters - such as the Professor in the second tale - could have been better developed.

It was not up to Futurama's standard but if you are a Frama fan, then it is probaably worth watching. Pity they did not have Zap Branagan on one of the planes that attacked the aliens.

This episode rides on a gimmick, but it's undeniably a brilliant gimmick.
It's a very funny episode and all of the animation styles are a joy to watch.
The Fleischer segment, 'Colorama' is probably the best of the three, featuring the most gags that really work as well as the strongest storyline of the three.
Then there's the videogame segment which is probably the weakest. It's amusing and tells a nice story of sorts, but it's also a story where nothing really happens -and I'm not used to that in these non-canon, anthology stories. I'm used to crazy fun.
Then there's the anime segment: 'Action Delivery Force' which is very funny in a stupid way but works nicely all the same.
I like how all three segments are based around a pivotal moment that is incredibly unsuited for their style of animation (the glorious colours at the end of 'Colorama' not being visible to us thanks to it being in black & white for instance). I also loved that the God Entity introduced everything.
In fact, my biggest complaint about the episode is that there wasn't enough of the God Entity. I wanted to see him as a bookend inbetween each segment, but I'd be amazed if the writers didn't want that too and had to choose against it for running time purposes.

Anyway. 'Reincarnation' is a great bit of fun and I hope for a sequel featuring 3 more animation styles in the future, much like 'Anthology of Interest II'.

I agree with most of cyber_turnip (#64) wrote.
The way they introduced the episode was cool, I mean "God" left us a joke that was said a few times in Futurama but as "if" this were the last of Futurama it would work awesome, Ken Keeler strikes again.
The Fleischer part was the strongest of all, the jokes, Fry on the comet (and look carefully at the detailed surface), the rainbow (this kind of joke was used on the second segment too, on the formula). And the magnificent way too close it remembering us the previous episode.
The videogames part was too weak, the chalkboard was the main gag and I disliked the way of drawing them, it could be more pixelated for more fidelity.
The anime part was great, but I missed more jokes, even as they talked about the comet I missed more "cannon" between the stories too, just too make a better Season (Series) Finale.

Well that's all until next year, I guess that now that the Futurama Producers Crew have some feedback will make those classical episodes that we all loved, after all it was about 7 years without writing(I'm not counting the movies).
Overall it was a good season with some regular episodes.

Something that really sticks out (in a bad way) of these post-renewal episodes is just...a lack of charm. It was funny enough, but more and more the humor feels unnatural. For such a clever idea, I felt that it relied too much on gimmicks. Some worked, some didn't. It's just starting to get stale; many great ideas that could have made brilliant episodes have not been seen through to their potential. At all.

I would be interested in seeing more of Colorama...And I found part of the video game segment to be awfully poignant as The Professor realizes solving that equation is the end of all questions. The anime was the weakest to me, but still good.

This probably deserves more of a 4 than a 5 but I appreciate the fact that the Futurama folks are willing to take a gamble on a creative and far out concept...It definetly felt fresh. It was also novel in that if it were a final episode would have left on the hope of reincarnation instead of dwelling on death/endings. So five stars, I say!

Well, that's the joke. Or as the Futurama Wiki says:
"All three segments feature a joke on the limitations of their respective mediums. Colorama invents a color in a black and white world, Future Challenge 3000 describes perfect resolution in a low resolution world, and Action Delivery Force shows a highly complex dance too fast to be seen in a low frame rate world."

One of the best episodes so far! Had to re-watch it immediately - still laughed my way through it :)
1st part - Least favorite part, but it realy nails the feel of old B/W cartoons. Bender: "You know what your problem is? Too much smoke in your face" hah!
2nd part - A lot of fun references to 8-bit stuff and the monotone dialogue by Hawkings is always funny.
3rd part - Favourite part! Jokes are flying non-stop and the whole feel of this part is just hilarious, from the "low-budget" animation where only mouthes move and action happens off screen to the great dialogue in perfect and overly dramatic english. "..a buttered geisha" haha LOL a great suggestion by Fry :)

Like most FUTURAMA fans I was disappointed by this season(6), most episodes were o.k. but forgettable. Fortunately they went out with a bang, and the finale had me laughing all the way through it.

The old timey cartoon was good, but the old school arcade game and action delivery force ruled!!!! Hard!!!!

Lets hope next season is better I mean we have to wait a year to watch 13 episodes, so come on guys lets not waste your 2nd shot here, stop making the characters, caricatures of themselves and get back to some great writing. I know you can, let's hope you will.

Well that was one of the strangest things I've watched in a long time, in a good way. I really enjoyed all three segments and surprisingly no weak parts. Very funny and I loved all of the animation styles. Hard to pick a favourite segment, but possibly the first one, and then the third. Having said that the 8-bit one had some of the best jokes so they're all good at the end of the day...

My favourite two scenes are: in the first segment Nibbler crawling across the balcony, that was awesome. In the third segment Hermes going down the tube into a helicopter and then it all transforms back to his desk. Amazing idea and animation. Loved those scenes although there were many other great ones too!...

Hated it. Big futurama, fan but this seemed to miss the point and eluded the concepts that made me fall in love with the show.

This was a fantastic episode that had all of the components that make futurama so great: Fry and Leela's relationship, extensive science and sci-fi concepts, and Zoidberg saving the day. It may not be my personal favourite episode, but it was everything it should have been.

OMG, all three vignettes were superb! can't say enough, but here goes: I loved the 1920s style dancing cartoon. The 8-bit style with video game references was only surpassed by my favorite quote "the pursuit of knowledge is hopeless and eternal... hooray!". and the last one, reminded me of Robotech and Voltron.... ha ha ha!

What a brilliant end to a mostly (with a few exceptions) great season! It was even better than the Holiday Spectacular, which I liked. The parodies of the three animation styles were spot on and there were loads of great jokes based on them. I loved how the defining moment of each segment (the new "color", the detail of the ultimate physical truth, and Medical Crab's (heh) dance) couldn't be rendered in its animation style. Just awesome.

My only gripe is with the ending of the first segment. I didn't mind that Fry and Leela ended up dead - frozen in diamondium - but it prevented the segments from fitting seamlessly together: part 2 couldn't follow on from part 1, whereas 3 could follow from 2. But I guess thats the one flaw in an otherwise perfect gem... sorry, that was atrocious.

I'm dissaponted with such season finale. That wasn't typical futurama humor but parody of some old cartoons popular in USA. Last part was the worst. They changed characters so much that they wasn't even familiar to original.

This is like a CLIP SHOW? Wow. That hurts. A clip show has 90% previously used footage. This was wall to wall new animation, 100% lovingly animated just for you.

I don't know if it's fair or not, but I'm giving my own episode 5 stars because I like it.

I liked it! especially the first two parts.

Great animation, and some good jokes and one-liners.

"You know what your problem is? Too much smoke in the face!"

"A man can sneak off to do two things!"

And the whole 8-bit thing was great of course!

At first I was kind of groaning at the Glorious Black and White, but then I got on to the joke about the new color from the diamond rainbows and suddenly recognized how brilliant that was.

Actually the weakest for me was the 2nd part, even though I love 8 bit, because I felt it wasn't funny enough or interesting enough (I did enjoy the rhyming).

But the 3rd act was so amazing it made the episode a 5. How could you not think that was amazing?!

A clip show??! What? The list of words I have heard now contains everything, indeed.

This is easily one of the best episodes of season six, if not the entire series. You can't even really compare it to anything that's come before it; it tries--and succeeds--at being something wholly original...and wholly hilarious. The homages are spot-on, and I laughed harder at this non-canon episode than I did at several of the lesser, canon episodes of this past season. So, yeah. Really brilliantly done.

(And I'm not just saying that because Peter Avanzino appears to be in the house.)

This episode shows that the creators are still willing to experiment, and use science and parody without looking cheap. I probably won't rewatch it, but I found it an interesting addition to the classic Futurama. The manga cartoon was probably the funniest. (Leela her eye was even bigger).

After over a hundred episodes, I'm glad to see that the production team will put out the effort to do something different. I thought this was a refreshingly original concept for an episode and thankfully stocked heavily with the goofy Futurama style of humor we come out for each week.

The smaller details and the art of properly fitting in the largest amount of humorous stuff is what I love about a great episode of Futurama. It's like Family Guy with a proper story line for the moderately educated. (Not knocking Family Guy, but I've noticed that the less bright of the people I hang out with are the ones who don't/can't appreciate Futurama humor). Thanks team!

Am I the only person that thought the last episode to be an embarrassment? When I think of season finales, i think of something 180 degrees different from what was shown. Overclockwise should have been the last episode of the season (fry and leela finding out about their futures) with the start of their next season them being more committed.

Just disappointed with my favorite show of all time...

Hilarious. I love the serious/inspirational/heartwarming episodes but Futurama is at its best when it's straight up hilarious. I also liked the fact that they didn't rely on any topical pop-culture references. This was just straight golden. Part 3 was especially spot on. So accurate I could easily have mistaken it for some fancreation straight outta Japan.

Without a doubt, the best season finale the futurama team has done to date.

1: I'm gorgeous purple eyed gurl. Mickey mouse style, even the moving telescope in sync... a brand new colour! hahaha... no problems in b&w! Loved it!

2: 8bit bites of fun all round.

3: Manga styled... no words of praise would complete that list that is now complete... hahaha we are enemies now.

Also, linking the diamond all the way through. You guys/gals rock, for the nerds that you are. we now have know peace... until next episode.

I personally can not understand all the negativity towards the quality of the season as a whole. I think that the show is better than ever. Perhaps it's the fact that comedy central doesnt force them to fit into a Simpsons-esqe paradigm as they had to in the beginning of the show, but the jokes are wittier, the math and science jokes are better than ever, zoidberg has fit into hit role as the meg (a la Family Guy) perfectly, Fry's stupidity isn't...banal anymore (E1S7: "well, why is...those things") finally, a network has the appreciation of a show a decade ahead of its time...let them run with it now!

Stylistically, this episode is amazing. The story takes a bit of a backseat, but the Fleischer and anime segments are really fun anyway. I thought the video game segment was a bit of a boring stinker (especially compared to Anthology of Interest II's hilarious video game story) but it couldn't drag down the fun of the other two stories.

I'm less against the content of this episode and more against when it was aired. I strongly dislike the idea of having an anthology-like season (possible series) finale. Just doesn't feel right. When a show ends, it should ends with a proper episode, not one that doesn't 'count'.

Anyways, the episode was okay, but no attempt to match anthology of interest has been remotely successful in my opinion.
