Gosh, I loved this episode ALOT! The oktober-fest plot in act one was hilarious, didn't know Fry would do such a thing! Got some well explained moments, and also some very......sexy moments as well. But all in all, I enjoyed this episode alot! I can't believe it was pulled off in only 21 minutes!!!

Amazing Episode. Animation was better than ever! Highly Recommended!

Wow, that was as bad - or worse - than "Yo Leela Leela." Has anyone noticed they hardly ever go into space on this show anymore? That's too bad: an intriguing and seemingly endless capacity for GOOD plots are being lost by not doing so. Still waiting for that one great episode this run...

People are cynical or retarded!

This episode was firing on all cylinders, easily the best episode of the season thus far.

Anyone who hated this probably is an obsessive uber fan with no life.

Both me and my cousin thought this one was easily a 9/10.. it had an amazing story and was just plain funny!

Also I'm glad Fry and Leela are an "official" item now.

Overall an 5/5 for the polls.

For being a Fry-Leela relationship episode, I thought this was actually pretty good! I like the fact that they brought back the whole "how things have changed in the last 1000 years" thing which was one of the things they really focused on in the first couple seasons. Plus its actually confirmed now that Fry and Leela are in a relationship which until this point had been left semi-vague. I did feel at times that things were a little rushed, but I think it held together well in the end.

This episode was decent, much better than last week's. However, it wasn't nearly as good as last season's big Fry/Leela episode, "The Late Philip J Fry." The ending to this one was really sweet, with the highlight for me being the flashbacks inside Leela's head. However, a lot of Fry and Leela's dialogue felt really forced in the beginning scenes.

Overall, it was good. It wasn't amazing, but it was enjoyable. I look forward to watching next week's episode.

Probably my favorite episode this season, with "A Farewell to Arms" being a close second. The jokes were actually pretty funny in this one, and I really got a kick out of the Flinstones reference.

The Fry/Leela scenes weren't done so well in the beginning of the episode. I don't know why I felt that way, they just didn't really seem genuine. However, the scene where they meet on the ship was really well done, and it felt like the good old Futurama sweetness.

Overall, it was a fun episode that was a vast improvement over some others this season. A 4/5 seems like a fair score.

This episode looked like it was heading in a sweet direction but actually turned out kind of boring. I wish they did more with Leela going through life without the memories - which was a really interesting idea - and less on the boring Neanderthal scenes. Bender and Zapp are luckily both reliable as always for some hilarious lines, but it was a pretty run-of-the-mill episode otherwise.

I agree with a previous post. Why don't they ever go into space anymore? The farthest they've gone into space in the last, I don't know, 15 episodes was Mars (unless I'm forgetting something). It's okay to have "This is how earth has changed" episodes, but there should be much fewer of those than space exploration ones. Just think about how many crazy plots they used to have by exploring different worlds. It made the show a whole lot more interesting.

I also agree with the post above me. It seems like the writers couldn't decide whether or not to go with the Fry/Leela storyline or the Neanderthal storyline, so we sort of ended up with a hybrid of sorts. It wasn't bad, but they should have stuck with one and developed it (preferably the Leela one, it did seem like it had a lot more potential).

Overall, the episode was alright, but nothing over the top amazing. I did like the Fry/Leela scenes, but just felt the episode should have been more focused.

An interesting plot (except for the Eternal Sunshine part) poorly executed.

To me tonight's episode highest peaks were drunken Fry and Professor Farnsworth nodding his head to Hermes and Amy after Leela's remark.

It would have been much better if the writing was tighter. (i.e. imagine how much funnier it would have been if the Professor said something like: "It's july, let's wait one month to Oktoberfest. Or we could go to Okteberfest Planet right now. Meh, let's wait a month.")

Just because someone doesn't think the same thing as you do doesn't make a person a troll, folks. I've been an ardent Futurama fan since day one, and believe me, I know there are far better episodes than last night's was. If people want to give this episode a low rating, that's their opinion, but if all they say is "DIS EPISODE SUCKED!!!" then I would probably call them a troll. If they give well-written criticisms about parts of the episode that doesn't match their idealized vision of a good Futurama episode, then more power to them.

As for the episode, I thought it was the best of the season so far. Their were some really great jokes, and the Fry/Leela scenes at the end were amazing. It really did feel like the old Futurama in some spots.

This is "Phil Spiderman" who gave it 2 points...and I stick by it. Now this is MY opinion, which I have the right to express, by the way. My reason for giving it 2 points was plain and simple: it simply wasn't funny (to me). I could sink down to the level of the immatures on here by saying they're idiots for liking this episode, etc. But that would be stupid, and I don't think that anyway, because it's all down to your level of enjoyment, and hey, I'm happy you liked it. I wish beyond belief that I could say the same. But just some food for thought: could this episode stand up next to The Why Of Fry, Roswell That Ends Well, Jurassic Bark, Godfellas, Fear Of A Bot Planet, etc.? In my mind, not even close. You folks should reconsider calling people who have an opinion - and the right to express it - trolls. It makes you appear very narrow-minded, and I'd like to think fans of Futurama are better than that. Opinions are opinions, get over it. I just thought it was a boring, below-par episode. Weak plot, weak jokes.

I'm a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this was a great episode, but I feel like it fell flat compared to what it could've been. We had the potential for Leela and Fry both to literally go crazy, and for one of their memories to come back after they (seemingly) killed the other. We'd still get the genuinely unexpected happy ending, the episode would be reminiscent of The Sting, and it might even become my new favorite. Instead, we get this; a predictable happy ending, not nearly enough focus on Fry and Leela going crazy, and more inconsistency in their relationship. It was still great, with many funny lines (The "Who died?" line made me laugh harder than anything else this season) and a lot of emotion, but nothing compared to what it could've been.

Agreeing with Phil Spiderman.

I understand the series suffered a long break and new people working on productions. Still, i can't start to compare the latest episodes with the classic ones.. they seem like a entire different series.

It looks and sounds like Futurama, but it's nothing like the old days (with a few exceptions, thankfully)

I hope the new writers will still grow more into the series and get in that 'zone' like in the classic eps where characters were balanced, jokes subtle and never forced or even unnecessary. Also, i hope they get that feel for characters like dr Zoidberg, where he would make an appearance at least every episode the way only Zoidberg can.

Anyway, i'm still happy Futurama is here and this week's episode wasn't half bad.

Fun episode!

Side note:
FRY "DIED" AGAIN!?

By my count this episode features Fry's FOURTH memorial/funeral.
1)The Sting (dream sequence)
2)Bender's Big Score (they though Bender killed him)
3)Bender's Big Score (Lars' Funeral)
4)This episode

Also don't forget he died saving Leela in "Rebirth" and Leela thought he died at the bachelor party in "The Late Philip J. Fry"

Leela's really stubborn about her men isn't she?
She misses them when they're dead and has commitment issues when they're alive.

This episode is probably one of Futurama's worst in my opinion. I was truly surprised when I came here to see (what is currently) an 83% rating!

I suppose that means there are at least two camps of Futurama fans, those that prefer the classic "more serious" episodes and those that like the new wilder episodes with lots of lowbrow and physical comedy. In the older seasons the universe was still fantastic and the possibilities were endless but there were still some "rules". The characters had specific traits (i.e. Fry was the dumb fish out of water; Leela the serious Captain just trying to keep everyone alive while getting the job done; and Bender the a scheming robot that will occasionally do the right thing to save his friends).

Now however it seems all the characters traits are thrown right out the airlock for any single throwaway joke and in my opinion they're all morons. Leela has taken the hardest fall of all, she used to be smart and held things together, now she's an alcoholic fool that is always screwing things up. Tonight's episode has a great example of this, she's flying the Planet Express ship charging into battle and her single opponent is Fry on a mammoth. She could have easily taken him but instead she wrecks the ship. All in service of the plot of course but still, I in my nerdiness was thoroughly disappointed to see this.

Anyway, this episode continues an unfortunate trend of episodes I didn't really care for. The crew goes to Oktoberfest and Fry is disappointed to see it's become a posh and sophisticated event more akin to a stuffy wine tasting rather than the wild festivals he'd been to in 20th century USA. Bender runs into Elzar yet again (I'm tired of that character, how about you?) and is inspired to enter a sausage-making contest. In order to make a unique sausage Bender decides to use meat that's been aged thousands of years and since he doesn't have a mummified pig he decides to go for a woolly mammoth. Even though Fry is drunk from the festive the pair fly off to a frozen mountain searching a mammoth. They quickly find one with the ship's elephant detector (modified by Bender to detect more mammoth-like traits of course) and set to making sausage immediately with a giant meat grinder. Fry's hair gets caught by the mammoth's skin folds (ugh!) and he's pulled into the machine. Bender doesn't notice Fry's distress as he's dispensing the sausage from his arms and we the audience are led to believe Fry has been killed.

Back at Oktoberfest we see the crew enjoying Bender's sausage and cringe at the thought that they might be consuming Fry's flesh. Leela ends up with bits of Fry's hair in her mouth and screams in horror. The crew holds yet another funeral for Fry and Leela is determined to have her memories of Fry severed from her conscience at a Forgettery boutique.

For a brief time the crew goes back to work and tries to keep from reminding Leela of Fry. This includes Hermes from saying words like "Friday" or "French Fries".

Meanwhile we see that Fry is indeed alive (albeit frozen) under the ice mountain that he and Bender found the mammoth. Turns out there's an entire Neanderthal society there living in a green and fertile valley (warm enough for palm trees yet cold enough for Fry to be completely covered in ice in a short time?). It seems Fry's memory is blocked by an injury and swelling on his forehead - which serves to make him look like the Neanderthals).

Eventually things come to a head when Fry is accepted into the Neanderthal society and they decide to attack the modern humans which rejected them long ago. This being new Futurama, the modern humans with amazing technology are swiftly being wiped out by the Neanderthals and their wooden spears and woolly mammoths.

After Leela wrecks the Planet Express ship during an idiotic attack against Fry and his mammoth they end up in hand to hand combat. Both of their memories are shortly restored and and the battle ends as man and 'thal decide to exist peacefully (and to breed).

In the end all is well and Oktoberfest now resembles the olden days winning over Fry's approval. Drinking, music, and Leela dancing on a table. The End.

So back to the review portion, I didnt much care for this episode. It was just a ridiculous mess. I guess if I were someone who really loved getting hammered on the weekend and if Oktoberfest were some sort of pilgrimage to me I might have enjoyed it more. As it is, I just found myself disappointed with the continued assassination of the characters I used to love and the horrible jokes that are becoming a regular part of Futurama. I can get stupid humor from Family Guy or the Simpsons, I liked Futurama of the past because it was a touch smarter. Now weve got obvious humor that could be written by a 12-year old. Weve got characters that are dumb, with flat

This was a satisfying enough episode.
The fight sequences were really well done and the animation was superb - definitely top notch in terms of direction and visuals. This was what kept this episode true to its title and made it "fun".

The Fry and Leela story was sweet, but didn't offer anything really new. The episode also didn't seem to offer as many jokes as a typical episode, although this is not always a bad thing; there was other stuff happening to keep me from being bored. It felt like a Futurama episode, i.e nothing seemed "off" and I enjoyed watching it.

All in all it was a good episode. An honest rating would be to give it a 4, but I'm always pretty generous with my ratings so I'll bump it to a 5.

As is usual with a lot of the new run, the emotions between Fry and Leela seemed a bit forced in the first act and the sadness just didn't connect as it used to, but it still worked overall and especially in their ending up back together. A great episode, but not up there quite with the best of the old run. 9/10 if it were possible, so 5/5.

That was a solid, fun, Futurama episode. Nothing groundbreaking or anything, and still a little heavy on Fry-Leela sap, but overall, really solid. I liked the brainwashing.

What I really died from were the sausage jokes. How is it that every time they use the word "penis" on the show I roll my eyes at the infantile humor, but when I hear "I can't wait for the judges to get their hands on my mammoth sausage" I can't stop laughing.

OMG, I was laughing so hard!

They have seriously been on a roll this season. This episode in particular was brilliant in my opinion and easily one of the best of the entire series. I particularly liked the bit with the escape pod. ;)

When Fry found a way to get drunk I gagged and laughed at the same time. Lots of big laughs in this one. Catapulting the sabertooth cat had me doubled over. Excellent episode.

I have to say, Eric Horsted is probably motivated by the mistakes he has made from "Yo Leela Leela". He brought two funny yet emotional episodes. I can't wait for the next episode he writes.

Positives:

-Bender 'climbing up' the rankings
-The escape pod scene
-The beginning(double dip scene and Bender coloring in his drawing poorly like a 5 year old)
-The "Orange" and "Purple" scene

Negatives:
-Ending, same thing as always: fast.

This is looking up to be the best episode of the year.

I enjoyed the episode for the most part, however the Neanderthal subplot didn't entirely seem to gel.

Everything up to the climax was pretty good. Everything relating to Oktoberfest and the cook-off was pretty well handled and funny, along with the "death" of Fry and Leela's reconciliation and coping through self-imposed amnesia. My only minor issue with the cook-off is that Elzar is cooking a "mummified" pig that isn't mummified.

It mostly had to do with the climax. Fry getting amnesia somehow gave him the ability to go toe-to toe with Leela and jump 20 feet into the air. Or has Leela has really let herself go?

The battle itself was really "shut your brain off" entertainment. A lot of good gag material, particularly regarding Zapp, but it's a real strain to imagine cavemen defeating people from the year 3012, while also somehow having random medieval weaponry like catapults. Nixon's really got to beef up that defense budget.

I agree with a previous reviewer that the mammoth Fry is riding stopping the PE ship makes so little sense that it is too obviously a plot device. That mammoth must have had about 2,000 tons of body mass to stay grounded. Then again, Leela also didn't do anything that would have made sense, like shoot it with the ship's blaster cannons instead of doing some sort of kamikaze crash dive. It didn't help that it wasn't very funny to boot.

The ending was alright and a bit touching, but seemed rushed and awkward at the same time.

Honestly, if you thought the ending to this episode was rushed, there's just no hope for you. Is that just the go to critiscism for people when they can't come up with anything else? This episode was superb, and deserves way more than 82%

I'm frankly surprised so few people noticed the difference of quality between this season and the previous one.

In my opinion these last episodes are totally empty, no smart jokes anymore, no more of these hidden references to sci-fi classics that were placed here and there with subtlety, and mostly no more of this great nonsense humor that was constantly playing with paradoxes, and used to make me both laugh and wonder about the limits of logic.

It's not Futurama. These last episodes were some kind of inspirationless family guy with futurama characters. And that's very sad.

I loved this episode. From the complete lack of *any* actual funny jokes, right down to the extremely weak plot, this one was a keeper. I can't see why all these crazy people think it was such a horrible episode! I mean, c'mon: Fry drinking spit to get drunk is almost as clever and funny as the whole "first Bender, then Flexo, then Fry" gag! In light of this amazing new episode of Futurama that has indeed set a new benchmark in quality, all the great episodes we all know and love from the past are all going to have to be re-examined for comedy quality purposes, as they clearly can't stand alongside this greatest-ever episode in the annals of Futurama history! Just kidding: THIS EPISODE SUCKED.

Ok, there is some flaws that I want to point out and nit pick. In the beginning, the Proffesor wants to go to Germany for Oktoberfest. Bender wants to enter a sausage making contest, he sees Elzar make his sausages out of millennium year old pig I believe. So he uses a wooly mammoth and he then got 3rd place, how the hell did he get so good cooking. An excuse from the writers could be he used Spargle's substance which turns out to be water laced with some layers LSD, I think.
Then it looked as if Fry was in the sausage from an "accident" by the sausage making machine. Leela wants to not feel depressed so she got her memories of Fry removed. Through the crew's time at the PE building, they did spark some good jokes, such as the "escape pod" part. Then Fry joins the neanderthals as a mini sub plot. Then, they are angry at the homosapiens for "stealing their land". So they fought, in a rushed battle, they did however made ok jokes. Let's point things out. How did Fry become so good at fighting? I mean c'mon. The jokes were meh, but around that, it was terrible. I will give this a 4/10

This is officially my favorite episode of the season! Every minute of this episode really made me laugh. Being a big Charlie Kaufman fan, I loved the Eternal Sunshine references, as well as the OktoberFest jokes. Probably the best Fry/Leela story, as well as a great Fry/Leela fight near the end (THAT...WAS....AWESOME!!)

Unfortunately worst episode of this season. Dumb jokes, out of character characters (Leela being a pig like Fry when eating), illogical characters and situations - prehistorics following Fry as leader without any explanation, monster hitting in some kind of slow motion while Hermes reading newspaper??(this would fit perhaps in Tom&Jerry), Oktoberfest chicken dance...I hope it won't get any lower than this ep. The rest of the eps were good or *almost* very good, still waiting for a great sci-fi episode.

Ugh, what a mess this episode was! The plot was dumb, the jokes even dumber. There was just nothing about this episode that, frankly, makes me ever care to see it again. It'll certainly be one I skip past on the dvd when it comes out. Like a previous poster accurately said, we can only hope Futurama can't get any lower than this. A-minus-minus!!!!

Pros:

-I loved how exciting the entire episode was. It wasn't dull and predicting like the rest of the season.

-Most of the jokes managed to be fresh and hilarious, as if they were ripped directly from the old run.

-Zapp and Bender were at their best here.

-The Fry-Leela stuff was really paced out. It didn't completely sacrifice hilarity for the plot, unlike other sentimental Fry-Leela episodes.

-The entire battle scene, as well as the calming down part.

-The Leela subplot of her deleting her memories was pretty interesting.

Cons:

-The Netherlands story was really rushed. It barely gave it any time to develop.

-Too many unexplained parts. Why was Oktoberfest changed back to the way it was during Fry's time? Why did everyone suddenly cuddle? Why did Fry become the leader? I can go on forever about this.

-Fry was unbearable in act one. He was not only whiny, but out-of-character. Since when did he get this Homer-like desire for drinking?

-Leela's voice was kind of annoying in the second act.

Overall, this episode is good, but flawed. I'd recommended if you are part of the FryxLeela group though
8/10

Seriously, the best (or first really good) episode since they cancelled the show! Brilliant!

Seems like they are trying to put waay too much content into the episodes lately but this one was good.

Also: Fry episodes are what this show is about! :)

So funny and romantic
So funny when Leela thinks that she eats Fry and she has her memories removed of Fry. Funny when Fry becomes a caveman and tries to kill all modern day humans including Leela and Bender. When Fry and Leela kiss and Leela remembers Fry and when Fry turns back from a caveman.
Fry and Leela are actually together<33

I liked it. Very much. Still didn't think it was "epic" like "The Late Philip J. Fry", or "Overclockwise" but it was one of the best in this season.
The best thing to me: Fry and Leela's fight, that was unexpected and (have to admit it) kind of hot. XD
