Began his career in 1981 after studying at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, working first as a technical illustrator before turning to cartooning and movie poster art (including Disney’s The Little Mermaid).

Recruited to draw The Simpsons in 1990, he later helped found Bongo Comics and created Roswell, Little Green Man. He served as an art director on Futurama.
