The creator of Futurama and The Simpsons. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Groening took little interest in school, which is what first turned him toward drawing.

In the mid-1980s he moved to Los Angeles and started the comic strip “Life in Hell.” In 1988 producer James L. Brooks, looking for filler for “The Tracey Ullman Show,” spotted a framed strip on his wall and contacted Groening — the animated shorts he created became The Simpsons.

A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, where he studied theoretical computer science. His real name is David S. Cohen — the name he used on The Simpsons.

When he joined the Writers Guild for Futurama there was already a David S. Cohen, so he adopted the middle initial “X” because he felt it was more sci-fi-ish.

The Futurama producer who works with Rough Draft Studios to make sure the animation is done correctly.

Before Futurama, Rough Draft's only full-length show was MTV's “The Maxx,” on which Claudia was the director. Rough Draft Studios is now also responsible for animating The Simpsons.

Won an Emmy for Muppets Tonight! and was Emmy-nominated for Futurama and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Verrone wrote and co-produced The Critic, was a staff writer on The Tonight Show, and served as a supervising producer on Futurama.
