Big Sweep.
By some divine instrument of destiny or by the bestowing of an innate talent by the powers that be, Fry, Leela, Bender, and Scruffy find themselves representing the Earth on the Olympic swurling team under the tutelage of hall of fame swurling coach Vic Lebruteski. But what is really behind their newfound abilities, and what exactly is in it for the coach and Planet Express. It appears that they will soon be putting their lives on the line in front of an universal arena that is out for blood.

Great comic! The plot was a classic Futurama death mission. Scruffy had a great starring role, and it was hillarios how Fry sacked-out in Benders arms.

As always, the comic is almost if not just as good as the television show. I loved the play on curling, and Scruffy had his biggest starring role ever in a Futurama plot. Good stuff, don't sleep on this one.

A deus ex machina is a unrealistic thing used in roman n greek drama that comes in and saves the day in a cheap way. Great stuff n stays in with all the character excellently...Now scruffy says get a goin!

First Futurama comic I've bought. Entertaining read, couldn't imagine it being a produced episode, but for a dedicated fan such as myself it was definitely worth the couple bucks.

it started really bad but in the end seemed to get better. why is Scruffy such a big deal in the comic books. in the series he is barly in it and no one even knows who he is. this is the only thing that made this comic bad because they do this in simpsons comics all the time. got better in the end but its been done before best issuals are 1-6, 9 and cross over

Meh, that's the overall impreson you get after reading this issue. Not bad, but just so bloody average! The story was likable but not very original and pretty juvenile. What's great about Futurama comics (normally) is that they don't tone down the stories for children, but this issue feels like they did just that! The artwork in this issue was also pretty poor, ive said it before and i'll say it again, "Damn you John Delaney, learn how to draw Fry!)

This issue was just released in Australia and I didn't find it to be the best of the Futurama Comics though it did have more upsides. It IS worth buying.

No, this issue just doesn't hit the spot.
Terrible Art - didn't improve until the olympic finale
Terrible Plot - relied too much on contracts, lawsuits and curling, three of the most boring words I can think of.
Scruffy is best when you hardly ever see him, thats what made him funny in the TV show, this has too much Scruffy for my liking, even though he is one of my favourite characters.

There was a time when i read futurama just for the storyline, and paid no attention to the art, and that is why this was my favourite issue. But after reading other issues, then this, and studying the artwork (finally), i realized this was bad....bad..bad..bad. Real bad. Anyway, i have realized the quality of the new issues has slipped a lot, not just with artowrk but the storylines, and (please don't be picky about this), the covers. The issue covers for futurama #9, and #10 (and to a small small small extent, #11) haven't been creative along the lines of what #8, or #5 or #6, and even possibly newer issues (well here in australia anyway) #13 and #14. Bad Bad issue, im afraid. Very disappointed in the Rogers/delaney/novin teamwork.

this is where i stopped collecting *waaaah*. Not a bad one. Although i like scruffy and thinks he is funny, he wasnt his character in this issue, i didnt get the scruffs vibe. Although the end was funny when bender crapped all those bricks in to a wall :p.
