Futurama Simpsons Crossover Crisis Part II #1
Release Date: 1/26/05

Futurama Simpsons Crossover Crisis Part II #1The long-awaited sequel to the Futurama/Simpsons Infinitely Secret Crossover Crisis is here at last! With the brittle fabric between reality and fiction stretched beyond its limits, the entire citizenry of Springfield finds itself trapped in New New York a thousand years in the future. Once there, the advanced 30th century populace, which has overcome war, famine, and cured the common cold, does what any technologically and morally evolved culture would do.

First of all I can safely say it was well worth the wait! I love how it carries on from that last panel in part #2 of the original Crossover Crisis. The pacing through this Comic is great, nothing is left too long or too short, everything flows nicely and gives it a good sense or rhythm (which also helps with the jokes, as jokes often require good timing). The explanation of how the Simpsons charters got into the Futurama universe was a bit lame, but it wasn't meant to be taken seriously anyway, so it's ok.

I love how a wide variety of both Simpsons and Futurama characters were used in this issue, and the combinations of characters from each show worked very well together. I especially liked how they got Moe working behind the bar in iZac's pub, and then Bart and Bender prank calling him. The jokes in this issue were mostly great, some even classic, and the characters mostly in character. However there were a few jokes which reminded me a little too much of the modern Simpsons humor style, but they weren't total duds. I'm thinking along the lines in particular about Marge enjoying the flight on the Planet Express ship, and then being reminded she has a fear of flying, and then she runs around pretending to be scared. That seemed a bit stupid, but it's made up for with the fact they're not forgetting her phobia existed. Also Fry seemed a little exaggerated in terms of stupidity at times (some jokes were pointed out and explained too much like in more modern Simpsons episodes) I really liked how they revisited Leela and Lisa's relationship though.

This issue was packed with references to things (especially Star Wars) I absolutely loved the joke were Bart was trying to "Use the Force" to get a stick, and then Bender just grabbed it with his stretchy arms. The Aliens panel was nice too, with the chest burster getting away with Benders beer. Although perhaps having three major movie parodies in a row was a little overdoing it (Star Wars, Alien(s), 2001 A Space odyssey).

The artwork in this issue is clooled out, really top stuff. I don't think I've ever seen so much detail crammed into every page. All the characters from both Futurama and The Simpsons are pretty much spot on. The backgrounds are inventive; the colors are really neat in this issue, and no corners were cut sacrificing quality. I especially loved the panel designs, plenty of experimentation and variation. Not just square boxes everywhere. We had some nice perspectives and eye candy shots, plenty of people in the frames, and even a double page panel spread, and it all seemed relevant! It helped give this comic it's great pace and flow, never getting boring.

Altogether I prefer the original Crossover Crises, because they were so perfect. The criticisms with this issue are few and far between though, and really don't hurt nor hinder the quality and enjoyment of this issue at all. However it's because of those that I prefer the originals (but only very marginally). I felt the originals surpassed even the high quality of the standard Futurama Comics, and this issue does too, or at least it matches up to the very best that Futurama Comics have offered. It's still top marks from me though, and I can't wait for the second part!

This crossover was great. Even though I like the original crossover better, this one stands up on its own. I loved the mixing of Futurama and Simpson characters. Smithers and Zapp, Burns and Mom, Moe and iZac, Fat Tony and Donbot, Legs and Clamps and others I missed. The scenes of the Simpsons going out and making deliveries with Fry, Leela and Bender are memorable. I'm looking forward to part 2.

I really enjoyed this comic, the story was well thought out and very funny. There were also a few clever references to episodes from the TV show which were very clever. I haven't actually read the original crossover crisis, but this was very entertaining, especially with the similarities in character we see in the story.

The uk issue suck did you know they released "the Bender you say" as two issues and get this, they have in the subscription form that you fill out for the next 13 issues to be delivered to your door but currently in u.s terms they are up to issue 13 with only seven (nine actually with the crossover) more issue to go but where are these extra 4 coming from? Anyway aside from that i get the 2nd part of the crossover next month.

I think it was awesome, everyone I know wants to read it. Although I never got to read the very first crossover crisis issues, some things are still a little (just a little) blank.

A brilliant start for the crossover. I liked the referances back to the show, and I like the plot of the story so far. I can't wait until I read the conclusion and see how it ends.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I love both shows and this comic has a lot of LOL moments and a very good plot. Maybe the best Simpsons/Futurama crossover yet.

The in your face film references are nice but need to be subtle as in the show. The splash page with the alien queen was superb it could have done without benders dialogue he didn't need to explain what was happening. The explanation for the crossover was a bit crazy the previous one at least borrowed from the show. Why not just use a holo shed?? The writer seems to have run out of ideas at the end and brought in dozens more literary characters not quite what I was expecting.

I donno, I just really wasn't into this issue. It seemed like the jokes were predicable and the plotline was really lacking. My friends agree, this seems to be one final attempt to save Futurama. And while REALLY REALLY want it to work, Im not seeing that it will work.

Its like 'Thats Lobstertainment', that most (not all, real fans love it all) didnt like the episode for no real reason, it was just lacking in the greated sence.

Im giving it a 3 because Matt's trying so hard to save the show... I'd buy a hundred copies if I'd help ut I dont see that making a difference to Fox. ... they are... upsetting, am I right?

As I live in the UK, I have already read both parts of the Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis II but think the 2nd part 'The Read Menace' is slightly better than the 1st part 'Slaves of New New York'. This is because of the cameo appearance of the Amazing Colossal Homer from Simpsons Comics #1 in the 2nd part and also contains more humourous jokes referring to the different story-book characters and the return of the What-If? machine. Despite this, Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis II Part 1 is an awesome piece of comic treasure and I would like to give thanks to everyone at Bongo Comics for combining both comics again!

Hmm, I liked it! The poster was nice to have, and the storyline is really good! I laughed at the cat in the hat being in the picture... and the double-flashback joke... I've been going on about it for ages! But, its a bummer that I can't find the second part... I need one!

Hmmm... initially I was a bit disappointed, but that was due to my insanely high expectations (carried over from the brilliant first crossover). Overall the art is top notch, and the story and writing are good enough.
