Patric to head guild

Animation writer [Futurama producer / writer] Patric M. Verrone was overwhelmingly elected Tuesday to head the union representing Hollywood screen and TV writers, vowing to take a tougher stance with studios and pledging to step up organizing efforts.

Verrone, whose TV credits include "Futurama," "Muppets Tonight" and "Rugrats," won 69% of the 2,012 ballots cast by the Writers Guild of America, West. Currently secretary-treasurer of the 9,000-member union, Verrone defeated "Pirates of the Caribbean" writer Ted Elliott, who had been endorsed by outgoing president Daniel Petrie Jr.

Billy Bastard
Billy West is busy little beaver right now. Not only is he being told about the notion of a new Futurama direct-to-dvd movie, but he also has a new show in the works titled "Billy Bastard." The Puppet-styled show is about Billy West's life when he was a drug-user/alcoholic. Sounds pretty depressing, eh? Well, leave it to Billy to make it comical. The 5 minute pilot should be released either somewhere online or on television sometime soon.
If you want to hear more about Billy Bastard, check out the old IGN video.

And while you're at IGN, check out this great questions and answers that they had with Billy just two days ago. Here's a tid-bit of the interview :

IGN FILMFORCE: What role did you initially go in to audition for on Futurama?

BILLY WEST: I was called in for all of the characters, and I was in a room with probably a hundred people - and I'm sure 200 more were around before or after, because everybody wanted to be part of this. I was almost going to have a heart-attack - I walk in, and there's Ryan Stiles, ready to read for it. I'm like going, "Oh, Jesus... Wrong room."

A meal fit for crustaceans
Although Futurama has never been aired in Thailand, a blogger from there has taken one very tasty aspect of the show and created a recipe for Spicy Neptunian Slug Fricassee (also known as Pamuek Yut Sai Mu Nueng Manow.) If you'd like to make this yourself, check out the delicious directions over Appon's Thai Food Recipes site. Thanks to Anna for the heads up on this.

Iconorama
Incase you haven't already customized your computer or mac with Futurama icons, this site right here could help you out. At first I didn't understand how to download it, but if you look closely you'll notice you can choose between Windows or Mac icons. Once downloaded, you can use them anywhere you wish on your PC/Mac.

awesome.....second comment.......cheers for the great work of the site.....etc.....keep up the good work. and lets still hope that futurama comes back. From this article would it be right to say that Patric M. Verrone could promote futurama, and because of his position entice fox to bring the show back????????!!!!!
tomisagothSep 25th 2005, 14:55
I think they heard me when I said the site was going dump. Its good three Futurama related repots and one about Billy West. The site's definately better now.
JoeSep 25th 2005, 17:13
In the Billy West Video and article Billy mentions that futurama is coming back on a stright to dvd release? Is this actually true and written in stone?
Or is Billy just wrong?
JonSep 25th 2005, 21:41
#3, sorry for posting about two off topic subjects, even though there was nothing Futurama related to update about for about a month. very very sorry, please forgive me.

#4, everything is "kind of set in stone" - but nothing is set in stone. All of the voice actors have been contacted to see if they're interested, and Fox is talking it over with everyone. That's as close to "set in stone" as you'll get.
BrianSep 26th 2005, 00:15
First up I would say, "Finaly Futurama!" And next up to the staff, sorry I've been off-topic so much. Juat I like talking to these people and hearing futurama gossip. Now about the new just posted. I hope that the Billy show is on TV. Case it would just be cool. :p Also I think I will use one of those Futurama Icons on my tv.com.
anonySep 26th 2005, 10:26
amen to futurama
tomisagothSep 26th 2005, 17:38
I forgive you.

#4/Joe I thought Futurama was coming to the cinemas before it return to the T.V.
JoeSep 26th 2005, 18:13
As far as I know fox is going to be doing the same thing they did with stewie griffin the untold story, a straight to dvd release. I would like fox to do what they are doing with family guy and have new episodes along with a movie or three..
RichardSep 26th 2005, 23:28
Just as long as it's better than the Family Guy movie.
AkuSep 27th 2005, 20:44
I find it a tad bit disturbing you were all just itching for the hurricane donation news to leave...how heartless.
MatthewSep 28th 2005, 15:07
Just thought for the Aussies here, the big 15 Disc boxset is finally arriving in Australia.

Has anyone seen the new Family Guy movie? They mention Futurama in it:

Reporter: Stewie, is Fox planning on bringng back Futurama?
Stewie:What magazine are you from?
Reporter: Entertainment Weekly
(Stewie beats up reporter)
PandaOct 4th 2005, 15:13
sorry if this is off topic but what dateis the 21# futurama comic ive heard its out september but now its october and its still not out...
KimberlyOct 4th 2005, 16:57
re: #5 by Jon

If the whole thing is contingent on whether or not the actors are interested, Futurama may well be considered in the can already, awaiting shipment, and hopefully ultimate return to television. There wasn't any actor on that show who didn't love it, right?
ZOIDBERGsoupOct 5th 2005, 05:12
........FUTURAMA ROCKS.......
BenOct 6th 2005, 09:06
I am curious, if the movie does get made (and I hope it does) then (obviously the cast would be the same) but would the crew? The writers, Greg Vanzo, Rich Moore, Susy Dieter etc... all the people behind the scenes.

Because I would hate for it to look like a different show all together
paulOct 10th 2005, 14:30
futurama rules....... .. ............ hope you can make a movie or make some new episodes ,cause i can tell you there werth making and watching we'' lets hope for the best news thank you
Ausisnum1atcricketOct 10th 2005, 17:25
Does anyone know of a site that actually has any information more than "the movie is being made"? I've looked but I can't find one with a decent amount of information about the upcoming movie. Anyway, this site has had the most info so far, so keep up the good work.
BanditRulerOct 10th 2005, 22:37
#21: Well, it's still being bounced around the Fox builind as a subject to talk about.. so they might not even start thinking of the storyline until they get on the get-go. But who knows when that will be.... :/.
Well, here's to hoping! *toasts*
KimberlyOct 11th 2005, 02:07
I hope the movie follows the main story arc, with Fry's being the most important 'person' in the Universe, and Leela being "the other" as indicated by Lord Nibbler. Remember, even if they re-open Fry's importance, the field is wide open since they never indicated what Leela's importance is yet.

Futurama is far from old and tired, but there are lots of loose ends due to the show's untimely and undeserved demise.
ROSEOct 11th 2005, 08:32
ok people GO TO THIS SITE AND SIGN YOUR NAME ON THE PETITION!!!!

ok?
tomisagothOct 11th 2005, 19:47
Wait just 1 minute The Simpson's has MANY loose ends. E.g (for example) someone like Lisa asks a question and then the credits come up and that mystery music comes on. So why have they STILL not they finished them after all these seasons.

Anyway what I'm getting at is that they might do that with Futurama! I hope that don't that would be dump.

"Incase you haven't already customized your computer or mac with Futurama icons..."

Hey, my Mac IS a computer dammit ;)
MrOutragedOct 25th 2005, 19:53
Well i am completely shocked that Fox has decieded not to air anymore Futurama series and it's probably the American's fault, just cause they didn't like it doesn't mean they hve to spoil it for us Brits. Futurama is sooo gr8 and if i could have 1 wish for x-mas, it would be to bring the series back.
TomOct 27th 2005, 02:22
