Futurama Comic Writer Nominated

Canadian Futurama Comic Writer Ian Boothby has been nominated for the Shuster Comics Award honoring Canadian contributions to the pictorial world of fiction since 2005. In particular, his work on Futurama Comics #22, the Futurama/Simpsons: Crossover Crisis Part Two #1 and Part Two #2 and the Simpsons Comics 102-108, 110-111, 113 gave him one of the five slots in line for "Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Writer".

The public is invited to vote via internet from March 4th to April 7th. We will post a reminder news topic with the link when we get ahold of it.

UPDATE: Voting is now possible on their site. However, it is restricted to Canadian residents who are willing to give their actual name and address.

Thanks for the mention. I really like this award because it give props to a guy who pretty much help start the comic book industry as we know it and created a character as known around the world as Mickey Mouse or... okay Superman is so known it's hard to compare him to anything else. Joe got a raw deal and when they started this award last year it was great to see his family members watch as Joe got a small portion of the praise he should have got in life.

I didn't know this.
Major kudos to Ian on this recognition! As the guy who drew the crossover in question, I can attest to how much he put into these issues (which wouldn't even exist without his efforts). He has stayed fresh month in and month out for over eight years of writing the Simpsons comics, a collossal feat in itself. I wish him the best on the night of the big show!

The DVD(s) are still a go. The start work on them this summer. The goal is for 4. I'll just be happy with one in 2007.
