Can't get enough Futurama
In Color

Nevermind

For up-to-date information on the new Futurama movies/episodes, please go to our article 'Bender's big score (+3 more)'.

Edit: (Jon)
Lots and lots of things were said in this update, but all of them turned out to be wrong. For archival purposes, I wont delete it. But the conversation involving the topic is closed, and please take note to the two updates made at the bottom of this news piece. Thanks, and sorry for any confusion.

Our friend Billy West has once again spilled the beans. According to a post he made on his message board, Futurama is going to be renewed for television with 26 episodes. No word as to what station it will be on, who will rejoin the cast, or whether it'll be two seasons that would consist of 13 episodes each or one HUGE season of 26 episodes. Please keep in mind though, all this information is still very unofficial. Nothing is down on paper. No contracts signed. Nada. NOTHING. But, it's still pretty awesome.
I'm this close to selling my show--''Billy Bastard--Amateur Human Being,'' And the other good news is that they're doing 26 new episodes of ''Futurama'' for TV and we're hammering out the deal now. The original plan was to have the DVD's first but that's no longer the case.I'm totaly jammed dude.

Greetings from the year 3000! It still sucks!

Billy
Update:
I'm getting different bits of info that say this news may not be the case. There IS something up Futurama project wise but but it might be the DVD's still. It's hard to keep up with things--but I'll try to do better.

Sorry,
Billy
So there you have it folks, the return of Futurama as a series may not be the case as of right now. In related news that backs up the idea of Futurama coming to DVD rather than TV, Bill Morrison recently spoke to a fan about how the Futurama Movie script is almost finished at a convention in Germany. Woot.

Update 2: (mArc)
Another well-informed source tells us that there was no basis in reality for the 26 episode rumor. The plan to make direct-to-DVD movies is still existing.

Update 3: (Jon)
Bill Morrison was misquoted as to say that the Futurama script is almost finished, and rather was speaking about a Simpsons Movie script. As of now, there's no Futurama script.

ZrDMar 19th 2006, 08:50
There is no font large enough to describe what im feeling right now
Eyedol7513Mar 19th 2006, 08:58
-I seriously don't know what to make of this. On one hand, it's awesome. On the other hand, he (Billy West) may be mistaken, and if that is the case, it would truly suck.
-Assuming this is true, here's hoping the new seasons will have the same quality and voice acting as before. And let's hope it gets treated better as well.
-On a last note. I hope it is either on CBS, NBC, KTLA, ABC, KCAL9, FOX, or even UPN. (Although I only think one of those networks will take it.) But if it is on a cable network, I might have to get full-service on it again.
ThomasJKruseMar 19th 2006, 09:18
My Prayers have been answered, all of those times we were like "well maybe itll come back!" always holding on hope, and it is!! IT ISS!!!!!
aaronMar 19th 2006, 09:45
Just the fact that Billy will be doing it is amazing because he does so many voices for the show. Hopefully Katie and John will be in and as excited as Billy.

This is incredible news though. I am stoked to the MAX!
ZrDMar 19th 2006, 09:58
i think this beautifully sums my feelings on the subject...

Leela: "Don't stop playing, Fry. I want to see how it ends."
KazzahdraneMar 19th 2006, 10:16
*sigh*

I so much want to believe. But I've had my spirits lifted by news like this before. Once I hear it from Matt I'll be dancing in the streets.
eIRINNSKe56Mar 19th 2006, 11:33
awesome, awesome 2 tha max.
i hav an idea 4 an episode.
lyk the "what if?" machine type of episode,
they should c the future in about 20 years.
hav every1 still alive except fry who will die in a crazy contest or sumthing lol.
"he had a good run" i dont kno y fry gettin hurt is so funny, but it works!
MattMar 19th 2006, 11:36
Sounds Awesome. let's hope this is true and that the episodes will have stories that are as great as the 4ACV episodes. 5ACV01 - 5ACV26 would mean that the dvd set would have 7 episodes on disc 1 & 2 each and 6 on disc 3 & 4 each. we need this to be confirmed
BrainSluggoMar 19th 2006, 12:05
Certainly we must be skeptical, but...well, right now it's taking all my will power not to fap it.
AcidrainMar 19th 2006, 13:04
OMG, ive watched futurama every night to goto sleep for the last 1.5 years, finally i will have some new scripts to learn by heart, and my faith in the lord has kicked up a notch, BAM!
JakeofSBoroMar 19th 2006, 13:54
Futurama is coming back! FUCK YEAH!

Lets boycott it. You know, to be awkward.
ChucklesMar 19th 2006, 14:30
This is has got to be one of the most beautiful moments of my life that i think i'm going to cry
JonMar 19th 2006, 14:35
Bender's back baby !!!!
elloermioneMar 19th 2006, 14:42
OMG Futurama is teh back LOLLz.
kloetzchenMar 19th 2006, 15:49
Please just let this be true!
icweinerMar 19th 2006, 15:50
I went onto PEEL this morning to go PEEL it up, and then I look at the "News on CGEF". I look at it and think "Oh, somethings bumped 'Interview with Writer Westbrook' from the newest story" so I just go along and go to Offtopic, but as it starts to load the page, I look at the newest story of "New Futurama Season(s)" and I hit the back button and my heart stopped for a moment. At first, I couldn't believe it.

It'll likely be one season, as Family Guy has around 26 episodes in their new production season. Either way, I'm just happy to see that Futurama's going to be back...at least, I hope it's not a hacker on his forum or some other Billy West that said this...
KeithMar 19th 2006, 16:45
I had heard they were half-way into production on another Futurama season when it was canceled, so could this just be finishing that season up or will these new ones be from scratch???
CeoMar 19th 2006, 17:10
oh dear lord, i think i'm gonna wet myself :D
please let it be true, let us have futurama back again!
BryanMar 19th 2006, 17:56
Holy zombie Jesus!
LeegleechNMar 19th 2006, 18:33
Keith, that season that they were halfway done with was actually the last season of the show. Did you catch any of the "tv show canceled before its time" jokes?

As for me, I'm going to wait for some confirmation before rejoicing.
KurtPikachu2001Mar 19th 2006, 19:06
That is awesome news! Although nothing has been confirmed yet. I have a feeling Futurama will be back in the saddle again! I'm sure we'll hear something by this summer. Until then, I'll keep hoping that it's true.
mitchellMar 19th 2006, 19:36
break out the slurm its party time!
BJCMar 19th 2006, 20:13
Hmmm, while very promising, and I pray to the space pope that it is true. I'm not going to be celebrating until more concrete information is posted, because we haven't heard anything about the DVDs since he posted about them, so I'm not set to believe this quite yet.
Doooooom-SayerMar 19th 2006, 20:18
I know this is the worst possible thing to think, but is it possible Billy West is just kicking up hype for his own show, 'Billy Bastard--Amateur Human Being' and all this is a ruse? I don't want to believe it. I'm just right oh so often with stupid gut feelings...
PleasebetrueMar 19th 2006, 21:12
I hope this is real cause it would make my day
RoverMar 19th 2006, 21:22
Hmmm...INTERESTING STUFF! But still not sure what to make of it.
AlexMar 19th 2006, 21:39
Im so happy :D im gonna start my own religion like in episode S04E12: Where No Fan Has Gone Before when the religion of star trek was starded just change star trek to futurama..... :D !!!
FatuckMar 19th 2006, 22:12

F**k Yeah!!!!!
TheZapperMar 20th 2006, 00:13
Well, I wanted to kill myself earlier today, but reading this I'm happy to be alive. Life sucks, but Futurama rocks !
evolusionMar 20th 2006, 00:40
Just when I had read all this and got my hopes up...Billy goes and posts again:

It's NOT happening, the DVDs are still a possibility though =(
ShantyTownMar 20th 2006, 00:40
Well, if you read the whole thread he does say that the new episode news may not be true. TheZapper, I think you can safely continue with your plans for today ;)
DaveMar 20th 2006, 01:58
I still can't believe it...
26 Episodes!!!
I'm just happy now...
Chris2beFryMar 20th 2006, 02:01
OMG!!! If this is true, im just going to well i dont know....i will name my first born bender!!! oh i love life again!
indigiMar 20th 2006, 02:11
Confirmed false.

neuroMar 20th 2006, 02:16
Sorry kids, Billy spoke out of turn; read for more info.
BenderlenderMar 20th 2006, 02:49
I'm going mental! Should I kill myself, or dance in the streets? Is Futurama coming back, or is this some extremely outrageous mistaken confirmation!? I'll be in my pod, unfreeze me when the show is back on the air..
whattheMar 20th 2006, 03:20
What is up with Billy West posting misinformation about Futurama? This is what, the millionth time he has done so? At least this time he recanted quickly.
SLickroXMar 20th 2006, 05:34
Hy...

Relax guys! we have DVDs coming, beter then nothing, and after them maybe tv show will come. :)
whattheMar 20th 2006, 06:24
Aside from Billy West's DVD claims, we don't have official word of DVDs yet either - just info that they are in talks about that, right?

It would be very sad if all of these talks fall apart and no new Futurama is made. I'm hoping for the best, but getting discouraged by all the misinformation.
killdanMar 20th 2006, 06:47
This is getting a little bit depressing. I for one am getting a little tired of this rollercoaster of hope and compleat silence. I am glad billy keeps up the community but come on!
neuroMar 20th 2006, 07:28
Argh, URL munged from my earlier comment. Just search the billywest site forum for user 'billywest' and read the post "All Apologies".

And waiting 900 seconds between comments? What's that about? :)
EdHMar 20th 2006, 07:44
AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!!
ZoidypoosMar 20th 2006, 08:39
What in gods name is going on!!!
ChucklesMar 20th 2006, 09:03
I knew it. It was all going too well, never trust TV people, there all back stabbing double crossing gits.

If it was up to me i would lash them to a tree and beat them with an inflatable banana
MattMar 20th 2006, 10:21
Holy Shit, this is bad. please reconsider
iammeMar 20th 2006, 11:30
YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh huh uh huh uh huh!

Do the Bender this ones called the Bender.

Oh yah! Futurama is in da house. DANCE PARTY! Lets eat cereal on our head and do trivia all night long!

Please let it be so!!!!!
zoidgarthMar 20th 2006, 12:16
It sounds like Billy is so exited at the prospect of more futurama seasons, (aren't we all!!!) that he is shouting the message out to everyone before it's official.
GHCMar 20th 2006, 12:49
This is the first time I've heard of any Futurama "insider" mentioning a new series, which leads me to believe that they may be thinking about it, so we just have to hope the person to whom the final decision comes has taste.
SwiMfreak76Mar 20th 2006, 15:33
I love futurama and bummed that they're not coming back, but SLickroX is right, We still have DVD's.
-Bender Rule's!!!
SwiMfreak76Mar 20th 2006, 15:48
Maybe if we start petitions like the "Family Guy" fans. pay Matt alot of money to bring it back.

Only $1, and your helpful donations could help get futurama back on the air.

Now who knows Matts address
knowsfordsMar 20th 2006, 16:17
You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly sir, bravo!

Seriously though, I heard a theory that Billy was told to retract it as the deal is still in the works... at least we have some more confirmation of DVD's
cuban321Mar 20th 2006, 16:54
As Tiny Tim bot said, "You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly sir! Bravo!"

:(
AJRimmerMar 20th 2006, 17:28
A thousand curses on Billy West's house for opening his mouth too soon! :(
BendingUnit23Mar 20th 2006, 19:05
For a second there I thought we were going to be blessed with a new season!! But alas!!

BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!
generalleoffMar 20th 2006, 22:18
Billy West should be bound, gaged and stuck in either Matt or Davids closet until the deal is final and ready to be signed. This way he will stop jumping the gun and spreading rumors that get everyones hopes up before he knows what he is talking about. :)
yeaMar 20th 2006, 22:27
yea you right we shouldnt but we need this info what kind of site would this be with out news
losthoboMar 20th 2006, 23:12
I think anything coming from Billy should be taken with a grain of salt.

As he noted, he is trying to sell his own show. That means any little bit of news or Rumor that keeps him relevant, well, he has an incentive to post.

It would be nice for some of this news to come from sources that don't post at the slightest hint of rumor.
futurama-ramaMar 21st 2006, 05:51
This better not be a APRIL FOOLS joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cuz if it is, your playing with millions of futurama fans <3
mustyMar 21st 2006, 08:34
Go easy on Billy West
foxsuxMar 21st 2006, 09:48
eye's seeing words... happy... more words... sad.
TinyTimMar 21st 2006, 12:43
You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly, Sir. Bravo!

wayneMar 21st 2006, 13:09
This is turning out into the boy who cried wolf.
By the time (*fingers crossed) we get the confirmation we'll need to see it in writing, Matt, david and a cast list signed by president of fox to prove this isnt a joke.
frysterMar 21st 2006, 13:33
this news is pretty good. still great about the dvd rumour kicking strong. When its official switch mode to party mode...done
NaxonMar 21st 2006, 14:24
I don't want to be a pain in the a**, but i'm a bit sceptical about these movies, i mean, i was really looking forward to the episodes and when they were cancelled i almost felt like stabbin' someone, man!
ZoidgarthMar 21st 2006, 14:46
Hey!! look on imdb.com and search for futurama. it says Futurama (2007)!!!!!!!!!!
OtoMar 21st 2006, 16:53
"Note: Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely."

And so??

Just 3 words "Wait and See"...
IMDBLiesMar 21st 2006, 17:44
Don't beleive anything you see on IMBD mate
MaestroStarkillerMar 21st 2006, 20:40
New episodes? DVD movies? Damn, when will they deside already?! I'm afraid they will keep changing they minds till the end of the universe! And I am not gonna belive anything till I'll see the signed paper!
futuramaMar 21st 2006, 21:58
YAAAAA!!!!

i really hope it happens, i'd be very interested in how they start the next season if they do.
SharkManMar 21st 2006, 22:40
DVDs are better than tv, i can't watch tv most of the time i do have freetime. so this is a way better choice, also if it was to be on adult swim or on cable i also wouldn't be able to watch it. i would have had to wait till its season ended to watch it on dvd. so this sounds better to me.
BestFnShowEverMar 22nd 2006, 00:36
Please come back : (
OsamaMar 22nd 2006, 00:47
Anyone up for a suicide bomb? thinkin abouth makin a threat to the fox hearquarters and tell em to bring back futurama! Or i will be there next secret santa......

WTF? God, I really had my hopes up for a second.
guyMar 22nd 2006, 01:54
all i want to know is the date for these dvds
JohnMar 22nd 2006, 07:35
Ok guys calm down yes futurama is a great show but you guys have got to look at yourselves. is your whole life based apon Futurama?
KungFuLuigiMar 22nd 2006, 07:53
Well "JOHN", I think you should take a look at yourself and you will realize that Futurama is not only a great show but it is a criminal travesty that it is not on the air. And to answer the question....No not my whole life just the part that would kill many farm animals and/or small baby kittens in order to bring Futurama back to the masses where it belongs.

I need new futurama episodes! don't play with my emotions like that!
bowlingforillidanMar 22nd 2006, 10:40
"No new Futurama series"

What could be sadder than that?
Only drowning puppies. And there would have to a be a lot of them.
OlsenMar 22nd 2006, 14:51
I would kill my own mother instead of a futurama-less universe.
SwiMfreak76Mar 22nd 2006, 15:23
do we know how far the DVD's are in development, cause it could all fall apart, god forbid. can we all sign some kind of pettition to get Billy West to close his mouth and have Matt open his. Has he said anything about the show.
PantsMar 22nd 2006, 16:28
John, what else do us nerds with skin problems have to look forward to?
80sGuyMar 22nd 2006, 17:30
Awesome, awesome to the max.
robzieMar 22nd 2006, 19:38
oh my god its coming back i hope they have the same cast
evolusionMar 22nd 2006, 21:47
Maybe Billy knows exactly what he is doing...surely he couldn't just let something as significant as a whole new series of Futurama slip when he would obviously knows that it has not been announced.

What if there is a debate about what to do with it going on and Billy decided to show the decision makers the response they'd get to a new series of Futurama. He may just have made a very very smart move =)
mattybMar 22nd 2006, 21:55
i agree with evolusion, billy west wouldnt mention it if wasnt at least being discussed as a possibility.

either way the higher authorities get rich. quick. huge sales of the DVD movie, or huge ratings. Imagine the ratings for the COMEBACK episode of futurama!!!
newsmonsterMar 23rd 2006, 04:01
I dont know guys, its ethir attention whoring at the expense of fans or it was a early slip that he got in trouble for. Once again we are all left hanging.
JohnMar 23rd 2006, 06:24
NO!!!!!! I WAS SO ALIVE FOR A BIT! I CRIED AND FELT LOVE AT THE SAME TIME! WHY! POR QUE! Other words for why!

C'mon! If Family guy can come back they way they did so can Futurama!
hooboolagaMar 23rd 2006, 23:37
i'm sorry billy, but, WHAT THE FUCK? IS FUTURAMA COMING BACK OR NOT???
RyanMar 24th 2006, 00:39
This had better be true Fox needs some thing new almost every thing they play on their sunday line up is gay. especially War at Home and Free Ride. Simpsons is OK. Family Guy is good ( but no futurama good ) If futurama gets back on the Fox just make sure that they dont replace it wiht one of their sit coms because a fox sit com is useuslly code name for steaming pile of shit.
paulMar 24th 2006, 00:53
fox is stupid

in australia its called fox 8 there realy good is it the still the same thing
BanditRulerMar 24th 2006, 03:23
Dear Billy,
I understand you have great faith and interest in Futurama still, though please consider that being such a wanted guy as a voice actor, it's going to be very hard to find a reliable source to listen to. We appreciate your efforts, but please leave the big announcing for the people who actually have the time for making sure it's from a good source. We appreciate your efforts.
From: The Fans of Futurama

well? what do you think? This fake letter to him basically sums up how I feel about it.
notesMar 24th 2006, 05:44
all i want is more. member the openning to family guy come back episode? listing all of the shit shows that fox put out and then cancelled from when family guy was pulled to when the new episode came out?

that's how i feel, they pull these shows that are SO well written, SO funny, and for what? WHAT?

who will make bender waffles just the way he likes them now!?
bybirdyMar 24th 2006, 11:07
gosh kids. dont go blaming billy 4 this.
its effink fox. cant another network pick up futurama? here in australia we have these episode being show right now as "new" because they havn't been on aussie tv before. but i bought the entire serise on dvd b4 hand. anyways, fox 8 is wat aussies call fox. i dont kno if its the same thing but fox is evil.
my point is we need futurama. we need REAL new episodes. no1 is goin 2 read the 96th comment, but i wrote it anyways coz i want my favorite show ever back. ps. i been makin $$$ by seelin my burnt copies of the dvd's. oops im in trouble
JohnMar 24th 2006, 13:57
Hi its john again. just when i thought u guys were sane i found out that u aren't. i mean come on get a life get a job get a wife and get off your ass!start to crawl out of your mothers basement were you've been the last 40 years. and stop getting breast fed. i mean futurama is great and yes they should start to make new episods but i mean if billy saw this site he would single handedly bring back futurma for you charming geeks.
JKendallMar 24th 2006, 17:14
I don't see how this won't turn into a whole new series. The fact of the matter is that as good as Family Guy has done, it won't do as good as Futurama. Sundays would be a perfect time for Animation Domination or something like that, something FOX has used before. King of the Hill, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad. Anyone who would come for the Simpsons would stay for Futurama, and Futurama in the line up would only add to everyone elses numbers.
afightingmongooseMar 24th 2006, 18:54
Agree with much that has already been said. I hope Futurama returns in one form or another as it had/has the formula, in terms of writing, production, animation and acting, to produce a top-quality show... To paraphrase; I would feign commission you write an episode, it would be the sole diversion in what has been a pale and unamusing season.
TramlawMar 24th 2006, 20:43
I am Tramlaw , a monster born from the misunderstandings of billy west. I now roam the universe in my multi-racial space ship making the white man feel uncomfortable.
ZoidyPoosMar 24th 2006, 22:58
I agree with #97 John, Get a life Losers. I love Futurama, but some of the comments on here, (not to mention the spelling) are just pathetic. If it does come back now, it will not be the same anyway. If they cannot get the same voice actors, writers etc. then it will suck. Just like Family Guy is not as good now (more forced), and the way the Simpsons went to shit somewhat after there season 5 "Hiatus", though it did pick up again. Its interesting that the same thing nearly happened to The Simpsons, and they have come back and run umpteen more seasons since then, pity FOX does not trust Futurama to be able to do the same, and I think now it may be too late and inturn they will be right.
guyMar 24th 2006, 23:24
if u dont like us then dont poast it is simple
long live futurama lets hope thses dvds come and come soon
RyanMar 24th 2006, 23:31
What are you Smokeing ZoidyPoos Family Guy back and better than ever. Sure Matt screwed up the simpsons. It is going to be hard work to screw up futurama. Alot of Family Guy fans also love Futurama so I think if the show does come back I beleve it will do good. For atleast another season or 2 (though I would hope if it came back it would last much longer than that). By the way Jhon Screw you what elese are we suppost to do we have no power to bring the show back all we can do is hope and Complain. If you dont like what the people are saying on this site then what are you doing on it in the first place?
RyanMar 24th 2006, 23:49
In responce to #77s Question AKA John
YES!:)
LizMar 25th 2006, 01:13
Fox 8 is a channel in Australia that airs Fox produced shows, in response to those wondering if it was the same thing.

Anyway it's a shame it may not be happening but there's always a chance for after the DVD movie sales, yes?
EdHMar 25th 2006, 07:05
Leave Billy alone! All we want is the f**king show back, in any form! I don't care if they show it on the side of a blimp!!!!!!
eIRINNSKe56Mar 25th 2006, 10:24

XanforMar 26th 2006, 22:21
If it comes back as a series, like 'Family Guy', I hope Fry and Leela get together. The writers could easily manage that, and then you'd still have all the humor of the original series, and you'd also have some 'Newlywed' characters, making room for even more comedy.
The two newlyweds being two people so drastically different as Fry and Leela would certainly invite a lot more humor.

'Everybody wins!'

(And don't twist my words. I don't want to see anymore Amy+Kif until Fry+Leela.)

And they shouldn't skimp on the nerd jokes! I live on nerd jokes!

It is logical. Xanfor has spoken.
(May or may not be affiliated with 'Zanfor')

XanforMar 26th 2006, 22:58
Oops, I am in trouble.

To Zanfor: I didn't mean to steal your cybername, but since it's spelled differently, it is legaly distict.

Also, the statement 'With whom I am not affiliated with' is not grammatical. You should write 'With whom I am not affiliated'.

It is logical. Xanfor has spoken.
(May or may not be affiliated with 'Zanfor')
ZanforMar 27th 2006, 02:08
Ha! You spelled 'distinct' wrong! Don't you lecture the mighty Zanfor! (Who is not affiliated with 'Xanfor')

Actually, I'd like to add that I agree with evolusion (comment #85). Mr West may have just made a very smart move. I don't think we should be blaming or getting mad at anyone. We don't want to PO anybody and make them think we're jerks. That won't help anything or anybody.

Most shockingly gentleman-like, #114. It is logical.

About 15 minutes ago AdultSwim had a commercial saying they where going to start a half hour earlier. With futurama at 9:30 thats early entough for me to watch it every week night (even though I already own all 4 volumes of the show) I will still watch to keep up the viewer rateings so that maybe the show will come back. I cant wait for 2007 when all my questions will be answerd. Maybe Adult Swim will take over Cartoon Network entirly then all my dreams will come trun. Everything on Cartoon Network Sucks (exept for the Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) That show Powns ( but not as much as futurama
LucaMar 27th 2006, 21:42
Wether it be dvd or tv, im still F**kin over the moon...one thing though, i hope its dvd, only so we can all show how much we love futurama by buying the dvds. if its on tv, ppl like me in aus, cant really show them how much we love it,...i mean we cant do nething but watch it..this way, we can give them more money to show the "big guys" how many fans there truly are....
ScummbuddyMar 28th 2006, 00:44
I wonder why Comedy Central would pay 10 million for the rights to air Futurama when Cartoon Network loses the rights, when they could have spent that money on new episodes. Even a few would generate high ratings. Plus they could syndicate them out to adult swim and moneymoneymoney. ------> money for new episodes and then the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards...Checkmate.

Mr. West just made very smart move,
it made us quite angry, that's true.
But when FOX sees our reaction,
to them taking some action,
no longer will we be getting the 'Shoo!'

AnAdultMar 28th 2006, 08:40
There was nothing smart about that move. I guarantee that 10's of "anger" posts is of no interest to Fox or really anyone for that matter.
1futur-fanMar 28th 2006, 08:42
i think that making movies will have its downsides as a show it can go on for ever (even thow it hassent) but in a movie something will had to happen b tween fry and leela and it will be BIG.
so that will make any watching of dvd's (we have now) of fry trying with her kinda anoying if we know the outcome

P.S.E.G. if the movie is anyting like 'Lennie Asserholt"s fanfic (sorry for picking on you) any new ep.s wont coraspond with the old aswell as if it was just new eps., like how in the simpsons everythings the same by the end of ep.

but then again the movies will make money to pay for new eps.... im so confused

XanforMar 29th 2006, 01:29
To AnAdult (#123): I wasn't talking about anger posts, I was talking about the rejoicing the fans would be doing when we found out there'd be a new series.

To everyone else:
I'm having one of those things... You know, a headache with pictures! Instead of jumping on Mr. West, let's leave him alone and let him do... Whatever it is he does! In the meantime, while we're sitting here doing nothing, waiting for the deal to be worked out, here's my idea for a Futurama movie:
(Note: This assumes that Fry and Leela didn't get together at the end of 'The Devil's Hands Are Idol Playthings')
(Also note: Due to it's length, I'll be posting it in two parts)

Fry becomes more and more discouraged by Leela's continual rejections. Finally, one night, Leela says no to a special date he spent a lot of time and money to make just right. Fry dejectedly and rejectedly returns to his apartment. Amy notices this and starts talking with Leela, telling her to be careful, because if she keeps pushing Fry away, one day he might actually get over her. Leela brushes Amy away, because she actually does want Fry to get over her.
Meanwhile back at Robot Arms, Bender notices that his pal is kind of upset, and they start talking about it. By the end of the discussion, Fry realizes that if he really loves Leela, he would want to do do whatever she wanted him to do. And Leela wanted him to leave her alone. Fry realizes that since he loves her, he's willing to do that.
So Fry convinces himself that he's gotten over her, and woila! Suddenly that he's not distracted by thinking about her all the time, he's doing better at his job. A lot better! So good, it fact, Hermes promotes him to co-pilot.
About four weeks later, Leela slowly realizes that Fry hasn't bothered her in over a month. She realizes this and is relieved. But as time goes by, she starts feeling more and more alone...
About a week later, Fry goes on his first mission alone, because the professor needs Bender to help him bend something for something, and Leela called in sick. So Fry leaves with the package addressed to Omicron Persei 8, and the new delivery boy, Zoidberg.
About a week after this, Leela's finally gotten better and has returned to work. However, for some reason, Fry has not. Leela waits for several days, feeling more and more alone, and acting more and more nervous, until finally Amy axes her what's wrong. After a short talk, (which Bender eventually joins in) Leela spills everything, about how she really did love Fry, she just didn't realize it until he left her alone. And now he's possibly gone forever!

Leela: Fry, you idiot! Now I'm going to be alone the rest of my life!

XanforMar 29th 2006, 01:47
The professor said "Bad news, everyone.
I'm afraid that this series is done.
But don't worry, my friends,
it's not nearly the end,
for there are going to be movies, our fans won!"

/\ This could be true!!! /\

Continuing my last post:

Leela: Fry, you idiot! Now I'm going to be alone the rest of my life!

Just then, the professor reveals what he and Bender have been working on all this time. The Planet Express Ship II! (Having two of the same ship could be a build up to numerous jokes.) So they all hop on the new ship and fly off to find out what happened to Fry.
Meanwhile, on the planet Omicron Persei 8, Fry and Zoidberg are trapped in a prison cell. They get into an argument about who's fault it was that they got here in the first place. This eventually results in Fry getting pinched in the leg. This causes him to start crying. Zoidberg says that he never meant to make Fry cry, only to get back at him for make nonsense sounds that sounded suspiciously like derogatory insults about his mother. Plus, there's this very odd hungering scent that was hanging around, making him very jumpy. After Fry starts crying, he finds that he can't stop. Under Zoidberg's consoling and constant apologies, Fry reveals that he's still madly in love with Leela, and that he's just been fooling himself, and now because of it, he'll never see her again.
A short while later, the Planet Express Ship II arrives at the planet, it's valiant crew going through spectactular battle scenes, complete with CGI, both in space and on the surface, with Leela fighting the hardest, fighting to get back to Fry.
After several fighting scenes, they get to Fry and Zoidberg's cell and let them free, after which Fry and Leela hug, explain everything, and become all mushy-mushy. Then, they realize that the prison guards are right on their tail, so they run and fight their way out. But just as they're about to reach the ship, they become hopelessly surrounded. It is then that Zoidberg realizes something. Omicronians are giant Popplers! So Zoidberg (who hasn't eaten in almost two weeks) fills himself up on the might army of Omicron Persei 8, then everyone (including him) climbs on board the ship, and then they all leave forever.
So now that Fry can't concentrate on his job anymore, he gets demoted back to delivery boy, and Zoidberg to doctor. (Although now he also calls himself a relationship counselor.) Everything goes back the way it was, except for the fact the Fry and Leela are married.

Just add in some Futurama style humor and a few musicals, and you've got a movie that not only includes the Omicronians and a semi-alien invasion, but brings Fry and Leela together in a flawless way. With some slight modifications, you could add in the Nibblonians subtly modifying circumstances, perhaps somehow explaining what 'The Other' is, and maybe even the Nimbus, for you Amy+Kif shippers. Plus, we finally have Zoidberg saving the day, something that won't make Bender happy at all... ;-)

Dido's song 'White Flag' might make a good credits song for this movie.

I am open to suggestions for names, and any other plot ideas.

P.S. If anyone wants to write this as a fan script, or if you're a real Futurama writer, a real script, go ahead. I came up with it, but I don't claim it as mine under any copyright laws. Go ahead, please. I won't do anything, seriously.

P.P.S. I'm currently working on another script at the moment. I'm terrible at writing mushy moments!

P.P.P.S. I've E-mailed my good friend/evil half-brother Zanfor, and in his next comment he should be including a link to the lyrics of 'White Flag', for those of you who've never heard it.

johnMar 29th 2006, 02:04
like i said ....no life
ZanforMar 29th 2006, 02:30
To John (comment #132): Sir, I don't mean to offend, but you're making rather large assumptions. Our whole lives don't circle around Futurama. It is merely a passionate hobby. What you read here are merely hundreds of people taking five to ten minutes out of their busy life to discuss with friends something they all enjoy. I know many Futurama fans, a large number of which are university professors. Most of them are exaggerating in a lot of what they say.
(However, Olsen (comment #80), that was not appropriate.)
There are thousands of Futurama fans, and just because Futurama is their favorite show and they want it back does not mean that they are obsessed. What else are they going to talk about on a Futurama site? Their jobs? Their love life? 'The Jetsons'?

To everyone else:
I liked that idea, Xanfor, but I'd like to add one thing I'd like to see in the movie(s). In 'Leela's Homeworld', another one of the touching things about it was that Bender, at the very end, showed emotion briefly, in the form of 'Aww...' It wasn't much, but it was tantamount to Spock smiling and yelling 'Jim!' in the Star Trek episode 'Amok Time'. Bender showing compassion... They could slip some of that in at Fry and Leela's wedding. And as for the wedding, they could slip that in at the very end as a conclusion. And if this movie works out, and should they decide to recontinue the series, we'd have the newlywed characters Xanfor mentioned in comment #111. This would also satisfy you, 1futur-fan (comment #124).
Well a man can dream, can't he? A man can dream...

Oh, and here's a link to the lyrics of 'White Flag', per Xanfor's (comment #131/132) request.

ZanforMar 29th 2006, 03:12
In response to donald (comment #134): Thanks, but I check there. All they said was:

Status: Announced
Note: Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change; some data could be removed completely.

There was no storyline at IMBD. Hovever, I did some research. (It took me three minutes, John.) Apparently, the storyline that was there was actually made up by someone who wanted to prove that the site posted unconfirmed rumors. What was that rumor, though?

To Xanfor (comment #135):
I would have told you this. For some reason, it doesn't show web addresses. So anyone who wants these lyrics will have to look them up on Scroogle or Google.

Also, donald (comment #136) is right. I almost forgot that the plan is for four movies. We're going to get four plots that are that good!
(if only I could spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious...)

To John: Please don't get me wrong, but why during your 'Futurama dedicated time', by which I mean time spent on this site, do you not just allow yourself two or three minutes of enjoying wild Futurama fanmanship? You decided to come here and listen to us. I trust that you, of all people, do not spend your entire life here...
(Please read comment #113.)

Great idea, donald! (comment #141)

My favorite is 'Leela's Homeworld'. That song at the end still makes me cry... (Baby Love Child)

My most hated one is 'Time Keeps on Slippin'.

Im glad i have fans.Time for an evening scuddle.
ZanforMar 29th 2006, 04:01
I didn't like 'Time Keeps on Slippin'' too much either. I think my favorite one was either 'Leela's Homeworld', 'The Why of Fry', or 'Love & Rockets'.

(My opinion of 'The Devils Hand Are Idol Playthings' will wait until I see what happens after the opera.)

P.S. #143, you can't be Zoidberg! You didn't say 'Woop, woop woop woopwoopwoop!'

I'm so glad for the good news...Ahh, screw it ecstatic. I often fantisized that if I had won the big jack pot or elected president my first action would be to bring back Futurama. I dream it to be true. Even if they over priced the DVD's I would still buy them... then perhaps hug them...Maybe, I'll cheat behind my girlfriends back with them.
judoMar 29th 2006, 07:23
Dr. Zoidberg is my reluctant God. Na, his best epison is Roswell that ends well. When he comes on to the president, the funniest Zoidberg moment. "I'm not hearing a no!" and "The same develed egg." and don't forget,"Yeah, people are paying attention to me!"

Here is a way to get the word out to FOX. A petition sounds like the best way to let them know that Futurama is in high demand.

eIRINNSKe56Mar 29th 2006, 09:40
i myself enjoyed xanfor's little movie idea.
i myself had an idea of my own.
cuase i love mom n zapp branigan so much they should be in the movie, of corse.
but wat my thought was [well, maybe 4 an episode, the movie doznt have to revolve around it]
MORBO, the news monster. he talks of his people invading eath, its about time they came!
also, [xanfor] i too want to kno what nibbler meant by "the other"
and, a good idea for an episode is they revist fantasy planet where all your fantasy's come to life [dr.z, amy, n hermes went there in the "cryonic woman"]
it would be done in a "300 big boys" style where leela, bender and fry each have there own stories that come together at the end. one can only assume what fry's fantasy is *cough* leela *cough*
over, and out
MattMar 29th 2006, 11:03
i think the movie should be about Brain Spawn and niblonians (plus something about fry's love for leela).
tomisagothMar 29th 2006, 18:12
I also like the movie idea.

John is a Futurama Nazi/Facist.

In my opinion the movies should contain something about Hermes making them go to the Brainslug's planet (maybe that could be the planet that Fry and Zoidberg need to be rescued from). What's that you say NO, oh well it was just an idea. One of the movies are likely to have more information on "the Other" and is also likely to have something on the Brainspawn.

Also the person who wrote the false information on IMBD or something said in the false infomation that the movie would be based on one of the novels of the person who wrote "The Time Machine" and War of the Worlds". Just incase anyone was wondering.
drsloganMar 29th 2006, 18:41

Good god, I think my I.Q. has dropped from seeing some of these posts. Take ten seconds out of your life and spell it correctly, it is not hard. And yes, I think john sucks, just like the rest of you. In responce to (157), How the hell can you say they are dumb, when -you- are a retarded idiot?
XanforMar 30th 2006, 23:26
Dear John, (comments #77, #97, #132, and #157) to some extent, ZoidyPoos, (comment #101) and everyone else here in general,

Look, I know it seems like we're obsessed, but try to remember that some people have busy lives. They cherish moments where they can just 'let go' and talk on and be crazy about something. People who like Futurama have to be at least moderately smart in order to fully understand the show, and people who are moderately smart like to talk to other people who are moderately smart. And since all (make that most) of the people here understand Futurama, and are fans of Futurama, they like to talk about Futurama. Now, you might not know this, but people who are moderately smart usually have very busy lives. And people who have very busy lives, like I said, cherish these brief moments where they can 'let go' and be crazy about something, even if it's just flaming someone who doesn't understand the show. (No names mentioned.) Please, don't get us wrong. I came to this site because the people here can honestly share their opinions and ideas. Don't extrapolate the obsessiveness and exaggeration you see here into the rest of our lives. Put it into context. Most of us only have five minutes of spare time a day to read and post our comments. Don't make us people looking for a brief chance to 'get away' waste our precious time reading insults. Even those of us who have a free hour can't do very much, due to having to wait 900 seconds between posts. We have a lot time to wait through. Plenty of time to catch up on homework, chores, our jobs, or whatever else it is we need to have done. And among friends, can't a few speling errors in a hastily written note be overlooked?
Let's not forget why we're here. We're not here to argue and call each other names. We're here to be united together as a group of people who are fans of Futurama. The last poll I've seen, and I read it on this very site, said that Futurama had almost a million viewers when it was on the air. As us of those million who have access to computers, we have an extraordinary privilege to be able to talk together like this. Let's not waste it! Let's share our information and opinions in an open and friendly fashion. Being angry at each other and trading insults won't solve anything! We're supposed to be friends! The one thing almost everyone takes for granted. Don't! I know what it is truly like to not have friends, and I am very sensitive in that matter. (That's one of the reasons I can identify with Leela so well.) We can still share our conflicting facts and opinions in a rational and civilized manner without the negative feelings! In fact, if we were to converse in such a way, we might even be able to come up with some useful ideas that might actually help the show. Now I, for one, like that idea.
And all-and-all, it doesn't even matter what our lives are like. This is a Futurama site! It's about Futurama, nothing else! This is my repose time from my hectic life! I didn't come here to talk or hear about misconceptions of mine and other people's already very confusing lives, or even what our stretched-for-time actual lives are really like, I came here to talk wildly about Futurama! The only and one and one and only!
If Mr. West reads this, which I'm sure he does, at least every once in a while to see what the fans are doing, what would he think? What does he think? Does he think all these Futurama fans are name-throwing jerks with all the time on the world and very low opinions of each other? Surely they must be, since they seem to talk that way, have the time, and also appear to have just enough intellectual capacity to spend their recreational time bickering. Perhaps we deserved this tragically disappointing misinformation!

There's no denying it. The future's crazy.
Well, don't want to stand out!

Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words will break our hearts. -Robert Fulghum

'Simpons' is fictional. 'Futurama' is real. -Matt Groening

donaldMar 31st 2006, 01:39
well yeah but johns an asshole
XanforMar 31st 2006, 02:08
Doesn't matter. This site is supposed to be about Futurama only. If we stray from it, I'll just go and start revisting 'The Leela Zone'. And if we do stray, which I may allow, I expect it to be in a FRIENDLY manner. This applies to everybody!

I recognize that I have no authority over what people write, but I HATE to see, hear, or read people fighting. It brings back bad memories...

John's probably just a little angry at us. It's not like we did anything to make him feel better. Let's just not insult each other anymore, and get back to the case in point, namely, we love Futurama! That's something we can all agree on, right?

P.S. To anyone who may have been insulted, by me or anyone else, I claim full responsiblity for the insulting and now issue a formal apology.

P.P.S. And John, we would gladly wecome you back if you agree to be friendly as well. We are partially to blame for this whole fiasco.

XanforMar 31st 2006, 02:30
Sorry. When I start typing, I get carried away. I just don't want there to be misunderstandings. And the reason I don't double space my longer messages is because when they get too long, I get an error message when I try to send them in. But I'll try to make shorter paragraphs in the future.

Let us therefore PARTY!

Are you talking about the movie, 'I, Robot'? 'Cause I've seen that. I have the DVD. But the first time I saw it, it was at midnight in a hotel room on HBO.

Incidentally, I don't have cable at home. I've been watching Futurama on TBS. My first episode was 'A Big Ball of Garbage', and I started recording them starting with 'Luck of the Fryish'. Hopefully, I'll have them all soon!

P.S. For those of you who don't know, TBS is a broadcast station in Atlanta.

What if there was a what if machine in your movie idea and once they get togtethr something happens that makes them as the what if machine a question like what if leela still didnt notice fry or something. sure it would be a really long what machine thing but it could totaly work. and it would be like the last episode never happend (Reffering to Xanfors movie idea that is)

in regards to donald (#170) the episode with lucy lu is called "i dated a robot" you had me confused with episode 1,3 "i roomate"

you should buy Futurama DVDs, not tape them off the air...support the cause and all that.

not that I really care, just a thought.

i find it ironic that xanfor loves futurama as if it were his own, and yet, probly hasn't seen all 72 episodes. it just proves how lovable futurama can be. hint 2 fox

i'm looking very much forward to the rebirth of futurama, whatever the outcom is (dvd or eps on fox). That will be the day. then i won't have to check these stuped comments and waste my life=)

KennyApr 1st 2006, 18:43
hey guys hows it goin
LukeTodd-HunterApr 2nd 2006, 00:37
YES YES YES i always new they would come to there senses and do more futurama, theres so many plot routes in it that simpsons can't handle.
bowlingforillidanApr 2nd 2006, 14:39
hope we get some new Futurama before the year 3000...
XanforApr 3rd 2006, 01:36
eIRINNSKe56 (comment #174), you are very observant. Indeed, I haven't seen all the episodes. However, the only one I haven't seen is 'That's Lobstertainment!'. I was out of town that week. I'm saving up to buy the DVD's right now, but, you know. Mars University isn't the cheapest college around... Anyway, I was a fan of the show after seeing just 'Hell is Other Robots' and 'A Flight to Remember', which, incidentally, came on just last night on TBS.

I personally am hoping for movies or episodes straight to DVD, because I don't recieve FOX very well. Besides, I don't think FOX deserves it. (Oops, I hope they didn't hear me...)

Thanks for supporting comment #162 and #164, everyone!

Hey, everyone, remember that the deal is for four movies. Matt and David wanted a trilogy, and we all like Xanfor's idea. So they can have their trilogy, and then use the last remaining movie in the deal to bring Fry and Leela together. They could even use Xanfor's idea, since he offered it up for anyone to use.

Ryan's comment (#171) got me thinking. (It been a while!) Perhaps they should bring back in the 'What-If' machine. But not as the entire plot. The 'What-If' scenarios always lacked suspense, because you knew they weren't the real characters.
But what if (pun intended) you inserted the machine at the very end of the last movie, a la the 'Newhart' finale, revealing that the entire series was merely a 'What-If' scenario'?

I support comment #162!

Just heard bad news, everyone! The 'Simpons' movie is coming out in July of next year!

Although perhaps this is good news, because FOX might also think twice about the Futurama movies.

ZanforApr 3rd 2006, 02:41
I trust you purposely misspelled 'Simpsons'. I saw that ad too, just a few seconds ago. It's coming out on July 27th, 2007. Who thinks that this will help Futurama?

Apparently, if we had gone to see 'Ice Age 2', we already would know this.

Futurama: To be or not to be?

DonaldApr 3rd 2006, 03:29
To be definatly.I just got season 2 dvds today
eIRINNSKe56Apr 3rd 2006, 08:50
thank you xanfor, i am observent, and modeset.
i do like the simpsons as well, but i'm more into the "classic" episodes. like when conan O'brian (excuse my spelling)worked on them. and i agree with zanfor also. if everything was a "what if?" senario it would make everyone think. also, i came up with the idea of the "what if?" machine type episode but to see the characters in around 20 years in the future, of corse, leela end fry would be together. it would show how everything turned out but leave us wondering "how?" i also dont mind whether futurama comes out on dvd's, a serise, or movie's as long as it comes to Australia.
johnApr 3rd 2006, 09:34
thanks for the apology xanfor but i was just pissed off about something i am sorry to everyone
ZoidgarthApr 3rd 2006, 14:51
Simpsons Movie will suck,
I wanna know about Futurama from Matt or X Cohen caus when we here it from them, we'll know for sure.
Fox would be stupid not to give new life to futurama, after all there's billions of fans out there and it grows every day!!!
Think of the money FOX $$$$
jackieApr 3rd 2006, 15:21
fox is just trying to keep us in more suspense so when they do send out futurama EVERYONE will buy it.
donaldApr 4th 2006, 01:01
Even though it will suck I will see it[if its out in theaters] to support matt.
RyanApr 4th 2006, 02:01
I could never really see the simpsons as a movie this makes me wonder if this will slow down the production of the Futurama movies plus he probably has to work on simpsons episodes as well to keep the show running. looks like 2007 is a big year for Matt G. this will probably mean that the futurama movies will come out late next year is my prediction because it takes on average about 9 months to a 22.5 minute episode of any thing. As long as the futurama movies come out some time I am happy

Thanks John (comment #190). We're all friends again!

Jackie (comment #192): I didn't think of that, but I hope it's true. I do like the 'Simpsons', but I'd prefer 'Futurama' over it any day.

eIRINNSKe56 (comment #189): Read up about the 'Newheart' finale if you haven't already, and you'll get a better idea of what I mean.

(Perhaps Matt and David are using this movie to help 'Futurama' in some obscure way...)

RyanApr 4th 2006, 04:34
sorry my comment showed up twice. I had an idea on how to make Xanfors movie idea possible wiht out a what if machine to make appear as though the last episode never happend. I remeber reading a comment a while back ( I cant remeber the name or where it was) they said they wanted the seies to resume right where it leaft off at the end of the last episode. If futurama comes back before the movies what if they made an episode that started out like previously on another episode of futurama and just rehap what has happend so far and then continue from there by haveing Nibbler show up again and say that the brains are back and they escaped the alternate univerce that fry sent them to somehow. Fry and Leela where the only 2 people in the univerce who could stop them for some reason. After they beat the brains Nibbler blank their memories to keep his posistion hidden. Thus Fry would forget he wrote the Opera and Leela would forget she saw the opera and every one else would forget about it because of the effects of the brains. Then when they make the movie they could use Xanfors idea of bringing Fry and Leela together. Also are all 4 movies comeing out a onece or not?
eIRINNSKe56Apr 4th 2006, 08:17
to ryan, i beleive that may have been my idea to resume the serise where it left off. and 2 xanfor, i have neva heard of newheart, but i will look it up as i m in need 2 kill some time
