With the release of the Simpsons Movie during summer of 2007, and a probable dvd release of the movie for that Xmas, and now the Futurama Movie being released then too. I think I can safely say that Xmas of 2007 will be the best ever(Plus another Simpsons Season Probably coming out then too).

yeah, they usally have a season out in December. I know the plan to have 9 out this December, after 8 on August 15. That will be great, yet i just wish that it came out this x mas. Hopefully over a short time the dvd will come out sooner.

Now we just have to keep watching it on adult swim

Man...it's been so long since I've seen new Futurama. There's no way this will live up to my expectations. I've already started writing my negative review of the new movies. It's good to know I have a good year and a half to polish everything up.

The movies won't be out until Christmas 2007? At least we have an idea on when the movies will be out. This is execellent news! If we have to wait that long, we will. Just as long as the DVD movies come out that's all I care about.

Man, 2007? I'm happy to have more Futurama, but it seems so far away. Just think about how many seasons we'd have if the show hadn't been cancelled.

Right now, June 21st at 1:15am, Katy Segal was on Late Late night with Craig Ferguson, and the last question he asked her was "Is Futurama coming back?" and she said "Yes!" she continued to say that it was coming back on Comedy Central and not Fox, and in episodes. She said she couldnt recall if it was 16 episodes or 13. She said she didnt really read the contract, she just signed it because she was so happy to be back in the role. She also said that it was also coming to DVD, which I took as to refer about the movies... but the new episodes on Comedy Central... thats sure news to me.

Of course, take this news as a grain of salt until better confirmation is made, as we know that the voice actors took some news and made it larger than it really was.... but one things for sure, the audience started screaming when she said it was coming back. Then Craig yelled at Fox for cancelling Family Guy twice and Futurama.

Scummbuddy brings up a weird point. Katey has _already_ signed a contract? And on Comedy Central? The 'Futurama' copyright is owned by FOX, so that doesn't make much sense. And with this news about the movies... Excuse me while I go do some research.

Also, who said anything about all the movies coming out at once? Perhaps it'll be one at Xmas 2007, then one several months later, and so on. Most probable that is, methinks.

I also saw the Late Late show, and Katie's baffling statements had me all confused. I did some research (i.e. Googled "Futurama Comedy Central") and apparently the rights to Futurama will be sold to Comedy Central in 2008. According to Zap2it,

Comedy Central announced Thursday (Oct. 27) that it's acquiring the Emmy-winning show, created by "The Simpsons" mastermind Matt Groening, from 20th Century Fox TV. However, the network won't get "Futurama" until 2008, when Cartoon Network's rights to the show run out.

There are other tibits floating around if you do the same google search.

On Billy Wests message board he confirms what Katey said, and even though he has had bad information before I tend to believe them now:

IMDB has the movies as being in production, not the series. I knew Comedy Central were acquiring the rights to air reruns, but I never expected them to actually bring it back. I'm excited.

"Futurama": Head not yet in jar

Comedy Central's bringing the show back for "at least" 13 news episodes.

une 22, 2006 -- 'FUTURAMA" is officially back from the dead.

The quirky animated show from "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening was canceled by Fox about two years ago, but will return with at least 13 new episodes on Comedy Central by 2008.

This is only the second time in television history that a show sent to TV's trash heap has been resurrected. Curiously, the first was "Family Guy," also an animated Fox show.

The tale of "Futurama's" dramatic revival roughly follows that same path that "Family Guy" did.

In both cases, the shows have been successfully airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim late-night programming block. They both also turned into hot-selling DVD box sets.

"Family Guy" returned to Fox earlier this year, while last fall, Comedy Central outbid Adult Swim for the license to air all 52 episodes of "Futurama" and whatever new episodes might one day be produced.

This week, deals were inked to secure all of the original voice talent and the production staff of "Futurama," paving the way for the series' return to TV.

The show stars voice-over megastar Billy West (whose elastic vocal chords have provided the voices for nearly 120 different cartoons) as Philip J. Fry, a bumbling slacker from the 20th century who is accidentally cryogenically frozen in 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later.

It is believed that the new episodes will also be released on DVD.

"Futurama" star Katey Sagal confirmed the return of the show on Comedy Central Tuesday night during an appearance on Craig Ferguson's "Late Late Show."

On Fox, "Futurama" never developed the same buzz or following of its sister show, "The Simpsons," but has since become one of the biggest shows on Adult Swim.

Fox may also have the option to air the new episodes, although it is highly unlikely to do so, according to industry sources.

Only problem I see, cos im from australia, is that it beter come out at the same time!
Futurama was canceled 2-3 years ago and aust only started airing them this year, on free-to-air TV.
Aust is so far behind is most shows ... i like 'lost' and have had download the eps cos its so far behind.
BUT still this is awesome news!! cant wait!

New here, just couldn't resist popping in and proclaiming this as some of the best news I've heard in a long while. With everybody coming back, I sure hope that Groening and Cohen and all the writers and directors come back. I can't wait for this.

I really hope that these 13 episodes aren't the DVD movies repackaged as half hour shows. Or that these new episodes would stop the DVD movies from happening. That would not be cool.

i live in australia 2 "hello" and prime was airing futurama years and years ago. they got up to "anthology of interest 1" and cancelled the show. then channel ten got the rights and started airing them again. but, unfortunately, "the wedge" took it over. BOO THE WEDGE

Sirgromit, I'm pretty sure they are not. If I am not mistaken, the direct to dvd movies are being produced by fox, and the episodes by Comedy Central. Kind of odd, but that atleast does put out suspsicion that the episode will just be the movies split up into different parts.

Yanuary 01 '08? That's the offical date CC gets the rights... right? 'That' seaosn will probably be long ready 'till then. So I thinking they woun't produce other until they air and see how that one does, so I say it's just gonna be a mindless delay... Anyway, the movies should be out sooner?

Good news everyone! I and the whole crew will be comming back to you with DVD movies and a new series before too long. We can now tell Family Guy to Stuff it, and Bart Simpson too, I never did like that little twrippy reprobate, but most of all I would like to give the jolly space finger to FOX and send them all to Uranus!!!

Could I just simply point out that FUTURAMA ROCKS! Any movies will be GREAT and I am holding out for anything new, Futurama-wise.

I really want the movies to be made ..... i absolutlely love futurama and i`ve got all the fururama dvd`s ..... it would be great to add the movies to my collection.

These things must be in production. The following is from an interview in next month's GQ of former Vice-President, Al Gore:

On his future in film: "I actually just performed a voice-over role in a movie last week. I am reprising my role as a disembodied head in Futurama, which is being made into a movie. There are a significant number of people who appear not to know or care that I was Vice President of the United States, but who are very tuned into the fact that I uttered the immortal line, 'I have ridden the mighty moonworm.'" (Oh, please. What did you THINK it meant?)

Wow... Thats all I can say about the news of a movie. And yet, as much as I love futurama, I cant help but feel a little skeptical. I just hope they remain true to the series. But all skepticism aside, GO GET 'EM TEAM FUTURAMA!
