Barry put a ;) at the end of his statement. I'm certain he (and most anyone who read his post before this diversion into minutia) knew it wasn't as simple as that.

Having said that it is time for Futurama fans to rejoice. Although, as others have said, torrents should be online for this weeks/months before the official Comedy central/DVD releases I sincerely hope fans will watch the show on CC and buy the DVDs even if they can't resist catching an early glimpse via BT.

That's what will guarantee more Futurama after the upcoming 16 ep batch. Worked for Family guy after all. I just hope Matt juices up the DVD releases a bit by including a toy or something that can't be downloaded off the net to bump up the store sales.

Don't worry, I was kidding about bootlegs. I'm buying them the second that I can.

Even if I can't afford the DVD movies, I will definitely watch via Comedy Central. My only hope is that the show is as prominent on CC as it has been on Adult Swim.

I'll enjoy seeing it on Comedy Central, but I worry about the show's integrity. I mean, Comedy Central wouldn't want the Emmy Winning episodes that Futurama gave FOX, would they?

I often wonder if Futurama will be forced by its new network to lower its standards...

Yep, that's exactly it, SC and BS! I worry that it will turn into another South Park, or it will have poor-quality humor like some of the other shows. Don't get me wrong; Comedy Central has some funny shows, but Futurama doesn't belong in the category with those shows...

Yeah, i might by the DVD's, or i just might do what i've been doing and watch all the episodes until i memorize them. that saves's money.

No worries. I knew you were joshing about bootlegs. Besides after the loooooong wait we've all had for new Futurama epsidoes I doublt if we see the new eps show up online any of us will be able to resist checking them out. I know, although I fully intend to buy the DVD (as I have with the previous batch) and watch them on TV (if there's a Canadian station carrying them since Comedy Central isn't up here) I doubt I'd be able to resist if they're leaked early.

Regarding the concerns about Comedy Central "dumbing down" the series I'm not going to worry.

Although there is a lot of crap on the station they do make the excellent Daily Show and Colbert Report. Plus South Part has been a Peabody award winner in the past (like Daily and Colbert iirc) so they're not adverse to high order comedy.

As Bill Moyers said "If Mark Twain were back today, he'd be at Comedy Central." (as a compliment to Jon Stewart on his show).

Colin and Fry-Day:i don't think it's 5-10 years later, i think it's just a couple of years, and while the titles do seem to heavily feature Bender, i also don't think it was specified yet whether F and L have dated yet. SC:"if Futurama turns to crap on CC, it won't be because of the writers or actors"--i know, i wasn't so much worried about THEM, it was CC i meant all along. But also just the whole general fact that it'll be hard for them to maintain such amazing consistency and intelligence when trying to think of new plots and stuff. On a related note, I met Kristin Gore at a bookstore three blocks from my house here in Milwaukee last night--she was in town on a book tour for some political novel she wrote--and while she couldn't talk about the movies, she did say that she was almost certain that it would come back as a series after the DVD releases.

Yeah, I hope the movie's aren't too "Bender Heavy". I'm going to get pretty annoyed if we have to listen to him say "I'm back, baby" 20 times a movie.

As for worrying about Comedy Central dumbing down Futurama, I think you guys are forgetting that they're making the DVD's and THEN they're going to be chopped up and "hosted" on CC. CC didn't order epidoes, they have nothing to do with the creative process, what's to worry about?

yea...all Bender wouldn't be great...but then again Bender is great! now if it's a series it better get back to the roots of Fry and Leela story! i think dvd movies will spark (hopefully) 3 more seasons of Futurama i can see that happening? am i the only one? i just feel there's so much to the Futurama universe that needs to be expanded on! expanded.....how about elaborated on? am i even using the right word here?

and Comedy Central dumbing it down is what i'm mostly scared of! they (Futurama) know it didn't work the first time being all witty but it did work enough of Adult Swim to bring it back...who knows! i know that there are too many dumb shows on Comedy Central as it is...

There is really no need to feel loserish about being obsessed with Futurama. It is truly both art and entertainment. It does just seem to have a strange effect on people. I know when i first started watching it, I was under some addicted kind of spell for like 3 months, and I'm quite a bit older than a lot of the people on here. There's just something about it.

Well, BendertheOffender, you made me feel a little bit better. I'm thirty-four, and i started watching it last year when i was 33. I've been around PEEL a lot, and it seems like most of them are younger.
But they seem like such a smart bunch of people.

So folks are we the old farts here or what? Sound off! I started watching Futurama the day it aired! I eagerly awaited every episode and when I met my wife, she had never heard of Fry and the gang and now she is as big of a fan as I am (she is 24). and yes I agree with catsmut I do believe it takes people with brains to enjoy Futurama. yea i never thought about it as art. but i do live my life by their teachings, like 'when you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all' ;) and 'right and wrong are just words, it's what you do that matters' my friends never watched the show so they don't get it dumbies

also i'm 19 and i watched it when it first came out....man i was a smart kid if i loved this show then....something must have happened in between then and now....

and i loved Family Guy's first 3 seasons....sadly you can tell there is a BIG difference in the new crap and the old stuff....hey i think that's what happened! family guy! ;)

I'm 20, and actually, I'm one of those that started watching the show when it began airing on [adult swim]. I only watched it on FOX, like, once.

Then, I bought the DVD Sets at Wal*Mart, and the rest is all history!

I'm 18, started watching Futurama somewhere in 2000, now that I think of it... damn it's been a pretty long time ago!!
My brother downloaded an episode off the internet out of curiousity, Lesser of two Evils if I remember it correctly. Didn't really like it after first watch, but my interest started growing after watching it on tv because back then they had just started airing from the beginning of season 1 for some reason.

got the dvd's as a birthday/christmas present and don't really bother to get into what happened after that.. :)

and yes, I totally agree you can't enjoy Futurama if you're complete dumbass, to understand most of the jokes it takes some brain capacity. Same thing with The Simpsons and South Park.

To everyone worried about C&C broadcasting futurama: Don't be.

I doubt any network stifles creativity and intellectual curiosity more than FOX. If anything, Futurama will flourish when moved to a new channel.
