Info on Four New DVDs

As there is more information inflowing now, we figured to put up a page on the four new Futurama DVDs where we collect and update what we've been told.

Quite a few details on Bender's Big Score are already available, but nothing much was known about the other parts. An unnamed well-informed source with the middle initial 'X' tells us, that The Beast with a Billion Backs will see the return of guest star Professor Stephen 'The Hawking-Hole' Hawking.

'X' also lets us know that there no date has been set for either of the remaining three DVDs after Bender's Big Score. Also, the episodes made out of the 4 widescreen Futurama movies will be produced in 4:3 according to current plan to match the look of the old 72 episodes. For fans reading this page, this is probably not a problem since most will be buying the DVDs anyway.

Lastly, there is likely going to be a Futurama trailer on the next Fantastic Four DVD. We won't link to any online version before we don't have an official source for it.

It's been marked as "preliminary" by FOX. The final packaging is not done yet.

Stephen Hawking's gonna be back? Great! The guy's got a great sense of humor (his books are amusing as well as insightful), so it's good to see them bring him back to the show. Who's he gonna run over next? ;)

Interesting!!! very would any one know its it is an intonational release for the first movie! eg will australia or pal regions recive the dvd later then america if so Gimmie a region 1 verision!!!!

any ideas on when itll be released internationally (in australia in particular).
definitely gonna be buying it when it comes out, but id hate it if i had to wait any amount of time without having seen it while its available to download online.

Thanks for making the new page! Although, I've been hearing "Beast with a Billion BUCKS", rather than "backs" as it's been reported here...

Also, does anyone NOT think that the episode of Hypnotoad will be a blaring Hypnotoad, staring at us for a full-22 minutes? :p

#7: The FOX page might be a bit over-enthusiastic about the extras. I was told that the DVDs aren't all done yet and "more extras" than what I listed would be included "as space permits". They are also a bit short on time to get everything finished in time for November, so some of those features listed by FOX might have to go to later DVDs.

It's awesome to see some decent information on here about the new Futurama movies, it's about time. I look foward to visiting and hopefully this site will start to get updated a lot more often than it has since Futuramas original run. By the way, the crew member who suffers an embarassing decapetation is Hermes. It was sown in the 5 min trailer at the Comic Con...

In comment #13 of your "Comic-Con Panel" story, Futuramarocks has a comment from Maurice LaMarche saying that Donbot and Clamps re-surface in Green Yonder. Yeah - it's not a lot on info, but maybe it should go on the new page since any Futurama news is great news (and I love Clamps).

As far as DVD extras - as long as there is a feature length commentary with everyone in the room (Katey, are you listening?), I will be in heaven (although Everybody Loves Hypnotoad - a theme song, 22 minutes of him staring at us then credits - would be hilarious).

Has anyone tracked down a copy of the five minute trailer for the new movie shown at Comic Con. I can only track down a video that is about 55 seconds long.

$24 a piece? $96 msrp for a 16 episode season? Looks like this is a good excuse to finally get Netflix so I can see them when they're released, and then hope they come out with a cheaper box set at the end to try to get people to buy them again.

The linked story says High Def format as well as DVD--any idea which format(s)? I thought Fox was Blu-ray, but have my fingers crossed for an HD DVD version for my Xbox.

It seems a little weird that there will only be four dvd movies (Sixteen episodes). Futurama deserves to come back for more seasons. I am tired of my good shows (Futurama, Pirate Master, That 80'S Show, Ect.) being cancelled only to be replaced by a thirty fifth different rehash version of CSI.

Futurama will return better than ever. I hope that more seasons will follow but I won't get too excited.

Just once, I'd like to see a Futurama Burger King commercial.

I don't mind if it works out kinda expensive for the movies if you are looking at them as four episodes. Ill buy the movies when they come out, then ill buy the episode box set. I'll throw as much money as i can at fox to renew futurama.

Well, as sad as it may be, I will probably buy the first movie, but then wait to see if they will be released as a complete Box Set. It's too expensive. Basically, you're $24 for [4] episodes, which is crazy. I can buy an entire Season for less than that at Wal*Mart.

There is no high price to pay for the return of my beloved Fry. I will gladly pay $24 for the movie. And it will be a good $24 spent.

I love the show just as much as you guys, and we could argue that all day long, but $24 for four episodes? That's pretty outrageous.

I'm going to be honest, and say that I'm definitely not buying all four movies...anyone else feel the way I do?

Regarding the price I'd just wait and see what the big stores and amazon are going to do. The $24 is the price FOX is advertising. Amazon had everything from 10% off to 45% off on release for Futurama DVDs in the past.

Movies in the US go for roughly $10 to $20. Average for a new release is about $18. $24 is definitely on the high side but, if they're good, it'll be worth it.

If a movie has a MSRP of $29.99 (meaning virtually any new release) it streets for $19.99, plus the big stores discount it further during first week.

If Fox is saying the price is "around $24", they mean MSRP, so it will probably street for $14.99 to $16.99 day in day out, with first week pricing going down a couple of extra bucks. That is right in line with what Fox charged for the Family Guy "Stewie Griffin" movie a year or two ago. I think I paid $12.99 week 1 at Best Buy.

I wouldn't worry too much about pricing. It's in Fox's best interest to move as many of these as possilbe to guarantee interest in the other three. Yes, "Fox is evil - blah, blah, blah" - but it's all about maximizing units sold, including to all of the casual fans. They could theoretically pay for the whole series with this first release, and that would mean a quick announcement about even more Futurama ordered.

I work for a closed captioning company in Toronto, and I have had a look at the promo for the new Futurama!!!! It's about 3:00, all new footage, mostly, I'd expect, from Bender's Big Score.

I can verify that it will exist on the Fantastic Four 2 DVD - or at least - we're doing captioning for it, so assumedly it'll be used.

3 minutes? Aw, that's probably the shorter trailer they were showing at the Fox booth at Comic-Con. I was hoping the 5 minute trailer from the panel would make it onto the FF2 DVD, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

It's not on the Fantastic Four dvd. We got it at our store and the only previews are for the simpsons movie and live free or die hard.....
