I am upset about the "carbon neutral" packaging. Although liberals will not admit it there are alot of facts that disprove man caused global warming and the producers should realize it is a very sensative issue that just should not be touched. It is easy to offend people. I wish I hadn't bought it even though it was good.

Also the DVD was scratched the second it came out of the packaging.

you can also offset the carbon-neutrality by burning/eating the packaging if it really offends your sensibilities that much.

Who cares how it is packed? New Futurama!!!!!! I have already watched it at least five times today. It is just great to see new stuff! I want more. :) Oh yeah, I looked around and Best Buy has a 'bonus' disc in it that other places do not have. It is not much but any Futurama is GREAT FUTURAMA!!!!! :)

I'm curious if the video seems aliased to anyone else. (At least) for the first 10 minutes or so of the movie the straight lines seem to be fuzzy/jaggy constantly, almost like the early episodes of Family Guy were (with the "jumpy" lines).

Does anyone else see this, or is it just me or possible something wrong with my disc?

I BOUGHT THE MOVIE YESTERDAY AND I SAW IT TODAY. I REALLY LIKE THIS MOVIE. IS GOOD TO SEE MORE EPISODES OF FUTURAMA CAUSE I WAS GETTING BORED WITH THE SAME ONES THAT THEY SHOW ON THE TV... IT'S A VERY GOOD MOVIE I REALLY RECOMENDE IT... THE SPECIAL FEATURES ARE GREAT TOO... THEY EVEN HAVE THE ALIEN WORDS AND THEY SHOW THEM FROM A TO Z AND 1 TO 9.... THIS MOVIE IT'S AWESOME.....I LOVE FUTURAMA.....

I thought I loved futurama more than anybody but if people actually like this movie you must be a way bigger fan than me i thought it was horrible they lost there great talent they once had i had hoped they would keep the last episode of vol. 4 in mind but aparantly not very dissapointing not futurama at all the singing was not needed at all i guess they ran out of good material so i guess ill stick with my good old seasons 1-4 never to see new good futurama again

It was awsome, espically since that they can do more than what they can do on tv, so it was more rickay. Also, Have they set a certain date for the second movie?

I thought the pacing was a bit slow in places, and the songs and a few jokes were half-baked, but my supreme giddiness at having new Futurama overrode all of that. SQUEE! FUTURAMA'S BACK!

I'll give it a second viewing, but I was not impressed with it upon the first time through. It wasn't a case of over-inflated expectations; rather, I just didn't think it was that good. It was like a greatest hits medley from the series, but leaving out most of the greatest hits. It rewarded the die-hard fans by invoking recurring references and story arcs, but usually in a rather pale, tepid, and tame fashion. The animation quality was horribly uneven. Parts of Part I and Part II looked very rough. Meanwhile, all the time travel stuff in Part III was overplayed to little comedic payoff. I really only felt as though Part IV felt like it met the quality of the series.

Oh, and could the alien bad guys have been more annoying and less compelling?

Bottom line: the razor-sharp wit, brilliant pacing, vivid imagination, and gorgeous animation of the series was mostly absent from the film.

This won't stop me from buying the other three discs when they come out, but I won't go out of my way to watch this disc again. I probably wouldn't even watch it in TV episodes. I'll stick to the original series.

Really hope the next three are better, very disappointed, I was excited that it was coming back, but they should have left it alone if they weren't even going to try to make it watchable.Maybe the writers are just a little rusty and it will get better in the next three.

I was disappointed with Bender's Big Score. I think I set my expectations so high they could never be achieved. Now having said that......I have probably watched the movie ten more times since then and will watch it many, many, many more times! My disappointment was in error. I repent....the show rocks!

I liked this movie a lot; the humor ranges from pnats down / pie in the face to the typically subtle Fururama geek jokes, and the emotional aspect of the story was touching and didn't feel forced. Just like the original series premier, it had to provide a platform for what comes after it, but it also had to be accessable to those who might have never seen Futurama. Putting in references to past episodes may encourage newcomers to check out the season 1 thru 4 box sets. I think the writers have left themselves in an excellent position to move the story in many directions AND maintain continuity.
I've watched it many times already, partly to figure out what the hell happened with all the time travel, which didn't bother me a bit. Also, I particularly enjoyed its carbon neutrality, and I hope Neo-Con-John lives at least 200 feet above sea level;-)

Benders Big Score is one of the funniest things i have seen in a long time. I watched it with a mate and we could not stop laughing. Im glad they finally brought it back in some kind of way and there is still three more movies yet to come out next year. I would give benders big score a good 9.5/10.
I also like the newer version of the theme tune it is so much better.

I love futurama so much, but I had to watch this one twice to really enjoy it. I think I watch the show too much and got my hopes a little too high but the second time I watched it was amazing...but I don't really like hermes in general. But all glory to the hypnotoad

I don't know if this info has appeared elsewhere on this site(maybe this is old news resurfacing), but the Leela Zone (Futurama Mad House) has a really rough pencil test video sneak preview of Beast With A Billion Backs. Looks to me like it's going to be a good one, and a pretty weird follow up to this movie; appears to pick up right where Bender's Big Score leaves off.

Sorry, it wasn't very good. A passable, overly long episode at best. Too bad too, I thought they would have had enough time to come up with a better flow to the story. It was slow and weak in a few spots but it had a couple of jokes worth while. I hope things improve.

I am not liking having to see Fry's dog killed though. It is also used as a conveyor belt joke on a menu. Not funny. Don't tarnish the quality of Jurassic Bark please.
And of course there was a frame or two wrong with the cut from Leelu to Leela. Overall the movie was very well done . Can't wait for the second !

I agree about tarnishing Jurassic Bark. That episode made me cry for an hour after watching it the first time, and I've never been able to watch the last segment again.

Then again, this explains to us HOW Fry's dog died. But it also reminds us that the past, present, and the future are not only matters of perspective, but that they are also themselves revisable.

Finally, Futurama is consistently irreverent - nothing is sacred.

Not much chatter here about the full-length episode of Everybody Loves Hypnotoad. What did folks think of it?

Loved every minute of BBS the second and third times through. I didn't realize the first time that it's actually four separate episodes with a lot of continuity rather than an actual movie, so it came off as a convoluted, tiresome mess. Thankfully, this review convinced me to give it another shot.

I really hope that disguising these things as full length movies doesn't wind up biting them in the ass. I think multi-episode arcs are already a great addition to the series, and I would like to see a lot more than four of them.

Even with deflated expectations it wasn't very good. Too heavy on the recycled jokes (and not even the good ones at that!) and recycled sequences. Maybe that's fine for people who haven't seen Futurama for a while but for me, who's familiar with it inside out, it was painful. Watching it a second time cleared up a few things but it didn't become more enjoyable. Maybe it was budget constraints but practically every aspect seemed sub-par to me, with many aspects being the worst to date (overall comedic timing for example). Even Billy West seemed a little off. Billy West! Off! Hopefully this will break apart into a few reasonable episodes and everyone involved will get their groove back before the next installment.

It seems that they dumbed it down to get a larger fan base, the jokes were very weak (and over explained) and the characters were over the top wacky.
Two biggest problems were -
1. The new Aliens were possibly the most dull characters they have ever come up with.
2. Futurama had very simple story lines with small moments of genius sprinkled in. Im sure fans remember the first time they saw the hypnotoad or the junkie trying to get crack from a vending machine or the lines that Morbo comes out with everytime. This Movie lacked these small chunks of greatness. It was the first time Morbo has said something and i haven't laughed, other characters were there for no other reason than just to show them (eg- Zap, he was in it for 2min and said nothing at all funny!) and Zoidberg was borring!

All the people who want to flame my opinion plz write down your top 5 funniest moments in the movie, I would be very interested as I simply can't understand how any fan could like an ep where they reduce Futurama to a show of slapstick and one liners that seem to be aimed at making 10yr olds and adults (with the capacity of a ten yr old) laugh.
I think people who arn't big fans will go with the hype and say it was great and fans who have watched from the start will be left shocked at how badly they screwed this up.

1) "Do you want me to concludify him, like some sort of dispatcherator?" - Classic Futurama!
2) H.Z.'s Tie fighter
3) "Can I pull up my pants now?"
4) "Will he make it Dr. Goodensexy?"
5) Anytime Barbados Slim speaks I laugh. It doesn't matter what he says.

I could go on, there really is a lot of individually funny things here. Unfortunately, there's also a lot of painfully unfunny things which kind of ruins it.

I didn`t think the movie was incredibly funny, but I didn`t think it was bad in any way. There were a couple jokes which I forced myself to laugh at even though I only found them mildly funny. The only joke I thought was just bad would be the ``whale behavioural science`` joke; though I think that may have been supposed to be bad considering how they laugh at it in the commentary. As for the comment by pptt, you can have your own opinion but for the record, I highly doubt someone with the mind capacity of a 10-year-old would be able to follow the heavy time-travel elements of the story.
I honestly failed to notice any choppiness in the story the first time I watched it (although I had to watch it in halves since I started it during lunch while I was at school).
Aside from the fact that I loved the movie, I was very disappointed in the lack of nerd humour; the cab number and the greenboard scene was pretty much all there was. The inclusion of the math lecture video more than made every penny I spent on the DVD worth it though.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. It had plenty of jokes, easter eggs for long-time fans, and Fry and Lela friction to satiate years long drought of 3-D animated goodness. I can't wait for the next 3 features. Great Zombie Jesus, I though I'd never see a single new frame of Futurama animation!

There isn't a cartoon out there quite like this, folks. Enjoy it.

Whoever didn't chuckle heartily at "I'm sciencing as fast as I can" or laugh out loud at "That one hundred dollars could've bought me...ONE GALLON OF GAS" misses the point of Futurama in its entirety. Stop complaining about "what you wanted" and realize that you got more than you deserved.

Everyone wants to be a well-known film critic or comedy connoisseur but you forget you're all simply nobodies. Deal with it. Buy the DVD and laugh. That's that. Don't take yourselves so seriously.

I just saw it and I agree with a lot of the negative opinions so I won't repeat that. The animation was good and the original voices were good too. There was also several funny jokes throughout Bender's Big Score which would have found a place in any of the earlier episodes. But overall it didn't mesh which is ultimately a problem with writing. This leads me to two theories.

1.) The writers are out of practice and they just need this to get back to there peak.

2.) There's actually new writers and the new shows will never be as good as the original four.

I noticed that there was a lot more gross out jokes. When the Simpson's started doing gross jokes was also when it started it's downhill slide and I'm hoping Futurama gets on firm ground with the rest of the movies/episodes.

The first poster should also relax. Who gets offended by global warming? If it cost them the same money to make the packaging then why does it offend you if they're making less carbon?

I'm with others: this movie was extrodinarily bad and a big disappointment to fans.

All of the wit that made the show one of the funniest cartoons ever is just gone. It's like watching a recent Simpsons episode, I loved the first few seasons of that show, too, but now it's just boring and irritatingly unintelligent.

My guess is that while they got all the show's original voice talent back, they didn't manage to reassemble the writers who made Futurama so clever.

I like it (three stars out of four). Enough belly laughs; a top-notch, touching twist (almost as good as Luck of the Fryrish); and 90 minutes of our favorite characters.

Best moment: the explanation of the destruction of NNY while Fry was frozen. :)

Tons of references to past episodes were a great bonus.

Weaknesses: probably too many dirty jokes; a couple lulls in laughter; maybe 15 minuts too long (yes, I understand that they will seperate them into four episodes, but as a full-length feature, it seemed long).

I loved the movie and the awesome plot twist.I didn't guess till the end.Cool action sequence at the end too and I loved how they explained certain things like the alien ship attack in ht first episode when fry was frozen

I liked the movie, but I agree it was dull in places, and they tried too hard to cater to too many audiences. It was great to see the guys again, and im certainly looking forward to the other 3 movies.

Did some of the voices seem off to anyone else? Billy West's characters were pretty spot on, but Bender and Hermes specifically seemed off. After a long layoff perhaps they just lost a bit of the character, or maybe small changes in their normal voice led to it, but I found myself fixating on it for the first few times I watched it. I think I was more interested in HOW Hermes sounded, as opposed to what he was saying. I used to like Hermes... he always had those funny one liners, that always cracked me up, but for whatever reason I just couldnt get into his character in this movie. Same with Bender, which is a REAL shame. They TRIED so hard to make him funny, that it failed pretty miserably. They just need to realize that Bender doesnt try to be funny, he just IS funny. Just keep him in character and the laughs will come. Not sure how much of this was do to bad writing, or to purposely changing the direction of the show for marketing reasons.

Aside from those few things, I actually thought the movie tied together nicely at the end, and was actually pretty clever, as time travel can be quite tricky to pull-off cleanly. Like others, it took me several viewings to piece together the plot, and that made me enjoy it even more. Plus just being able to see the guys again made me willing to overlook a few shortcomings.

Anyway, I anxiously look forward to the other 3 movies. Hopefully they just used this first movie to familiarize a new audience with the show, and with that out of the way, can now return to the more in-depth humor of the previous shows, and not have to worry about confusing people new to the show.

The Movie was ok, I would at least give it 3 stars. It could have been a little more funnier though. I rented it but its not worth owning. ( No Offense.) Those naked aliens just took the hype out of the movie. But! that is my personal opinon.

I mean the moment fry realizes who he becomes in the future made me sad/happy.. i know it's hard to explain but that good sadness is hard to find in movies and tv. great job overall!

I love Futurama, but...

I found the movie to be very boring. It just didn't amuse me at all. Very disappointed.

I throughly enjoyed the movie, i was afraid that I would be disappointed after seeing it as I was after seeing a different long awaited animated first movie based on a television series. Hooray for Futurama, hooray for the movie, and hooray for Bender.

Benders Big Score wasn't that good. Fox left it for too long to comission these shows and many of the fans will have grown tired of the show, especially with American Dad and Family Guy doing very well (and rightly so).
I understand a few of the writters are scientists, so they should know that the story didnt make sense. There was no need to go back in time to start the entire sequance of events off.
Also, as for the very first comment moking the use of environmently friendly packaging. It is certain that humans are responsible for global warming...Back on topic:

I'm also disappointed. The jokes were lacking, the pace was bad, the characters were out of tune, the plot was overly simplistic, the writers overused references to past episodes, not to mention the introduction of tasteless sexual humor and most of all, the musical nonsense was utterly horrible. I watched this DVD with my entire family (I come from a big family) and not a single person laughed (except when the con-aliens were introduced). Whenever the musical crap started, everyone in the room started to get tense (I can't blame them though, this was insulting to the series). I'm a huge, huge fan of Futurama, but Bender's Big Score is probably the most disappointing thing I have ever waited so anxiously for. It was similar to watching Family Guy or some other baseless dog poo series were the writers believe making references can somehow make up for a lack of humor or originality. Now that my hopes are down, maybe the other three movies will seem better.

Some good comments above. I've always been a huge fan, loved the thoughtful episodes like the Sting and the Luck of the Fryrish. Sadly, huge lack of any of this in BBS - the songs were weak, the characters just there to be ticked off. A couple of good jokes, but really, those naked aliens were just irritating. Also guessed main plot twist early on. Hope the next ones are back on form.
