Well I'm just excited that there are more new Futurama to see. I was very disappointed when they pushed back the release date for the 2nd movie, but it will be worth the wait. The first movie was excellent, calling back from so much from the series, that it made me just love the movie. So the more they call back the better the movie it will be.

i watched the story board of beast with a billion backs in a special dvd i got when i bought benders big score from best buy and i thought it looked better than benders big score just from the story board.

In my mind, it's watchable, but it's a step backwards. Bender's Big Score was excellent in my mind, and I rewatched it time and time again for the dense layering and plot, and sight gags.
The Beast with a Billion Backs is something to casually watch, but not something of fanfare.

The diversity of Futurama fans does intrigue me though. I think the mixture of love/not-so-love for both movies is testament to the wide variety of tastes of those who've become addicted to the Futurama universe.

In my mind though, The Beast with a Billion Backs pales in comparison to its pre-decessor.

I'm going to have to agree with 1step. I honestly really didn't like Beast With a Billion Backs. I thought Bender's Big Score was a lot better.
Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but what I love most about Futurama (subtle background jokes and hidden math/nerd humour) seemed to be completely absent from this film. Bender's Big Score provided enough of it for me to be happy; especially with the Bite My Shiny Metal X extra.
I'm definitely getting the DVD when it comes out though, that special feature list is incredible.

Hello everyone. After just watching The beast with a billion backs for a second time today with my girlfriend, we can both tell you that we like this move alot more than Bender's Big Score. I love the first movie, but this one just hits alot of beautiful story plots that are incredibly deep. I was reminded alot of some of my favorite episodes. I do love Bender's Big score, but this is the first time in a long time that I've seen a movie I absolutely had to watch again as soon as possible. If the movies have been this good, I for one can't wait to see the next.

much funnier than BBS in general, but this comes at the expense of BBS' epic feel. Backs is more of an elongated episode without the same emotional punch. It trades that in for lighter, weirder humor, but IMO the trade works just as well. What was great about Backs was that it was a true ensemble piece, with time divided fairly equally amongst all our favorites including some of choicest Zapp Brannigan moments since his debut. The plot is so out there, I bow to the twisted brain that conceived such a deviant plot. If only the Bender B-story had been stronger I think it would have held together better.

Just watched it. Probably some of the funniest things Ive ever seen are in it. Absolutely fantastic.

Awesome movie. Not quite on the same scale as BBS, but, hey, I never really expected it to be. It's job is to be a good, funny, Futurama movie, and it does this job nicely.

I can't wait till it's released, straight to the store! Anyways, I read part of the review but I didnt want to spoil anything so I stopped :p

I've gotta agree with what most people have been saying.
Really enjoyable movie, seemed to have more laughs and gags than BBS, but it didn't grab me as much, and i certainly have found myself thinking about the plot or the twists and turns like i did after BBS.

But, i do love the Zapper

Sure, I got a few laughs but all in all it wasn't that great. Something was missing.

No doubt about it, Futurama is best as episodes.

The reactions I've read on IMDb make me laugh. I'd wager that some of the people who originally disliked Bender's Big Score and have warmed to it are now among those who hate this. Whatever. Let the babies have their bottle.

I personally thought a lot of this stands up next to any of the better episodes in the season. I couldn't help wishing that a sixth season was in the works, after these films are chopped into episode format and resized. Be a shame to lose the widescreen though - there are some nice shots in there, especially in the space scenes.

I thought most of the movie was laugh a minute - so many one-liners I stopped counting. Plot was fairly loose in places, but Futurama didn't always rely on heavy amounts of it to get by so no loss. The voice work was spot on - except for Phil LaMarr, who sounded so wooden delivering Hermes dialogue I feel he should be replaced by West or LaMarche. But as the dialogue for the rest of the films is recorded this won't happen.

Is this superior to Bender's Big Score? Well they both have their moments but yes, the Beast does beat it. Even though, yet again, the main villian is too weak and too gross-out to fit with the style. The team has found their feet again and now, without a doubt, Futurama is my all-time favourite show. Look forward to giving the movie another spin!

Its great that futurama is continuing to make movies. Hopefully they can actually get their TV show running again. Now that would be great!

I've only seen Bender's Big Score once and I was a bit dissapointed, (I only laughed a few times and you could see the twist at the end coming from around halfway through) I still went out and bought it as soon as it was released here in the UK (the staggered release is a very poor idea and encourages illegal activity imho)
I don't know what I'm going to make of this one but love it or hate it I'm going to buy it anyway just for the love of the original series as well as the great commentaries on the DVD's
Then maybe we can get a few new made for TV series out of them
Does anybody know if the episodes from these films are going to come out on DVD?

I agree it didn't have emotional impact or whatever like the first one did, but I laughed twice as much during Beast With a Billion Backs. I thought it was just as funny as the old episodes, which I was afraid would never happen.

It seems to me like the pacing of the first was awkward, but now they are used to the 90 minutes thing.

Oh and David Cross rocks. Only he could make that ridiculous tentacle thing work.

I'm looking forward to picking up Beast With A Billion Backs next Tuesday. I'd like to know if there will be a retailer specific bonus item similar to the bonus DVD that was offered at Best Buy with Bender's Big Score.
I want to make sure that I won't miss out on a bonus item like I did last November.

sadly, i didn't enjoy it as much as BBS, but that movie was better than i could have ever expected! but still, tuesday comes around and i'll be buying it fast! also that trailer for #3! right?

Just Finished watching it and it was 'absolutely incredible'

although. . . some of the humour was clearly thieved from family guy with the random cut scenes. Also, was that not just the red weed from war of the worlds? LOL

BUT on the other hand i like the new style and the fact its a bit more "adult humour" eg: 'the nature of your universe is burning me, even worse than my gonorrhea' HAHAHA

but very good, well thought out story line and i can easily see this helping to BRING BACK FUTURAMA for future seasons!! woooooo

anyways, in conclusion it was by far the funniest and best futurama thing i have ever seen

i can hardly wait any longer. five days till tuesdays release date. anybody have any word on the x-box game secret episode on the DVD extras? i saw there's going to be some street level promotion for the release. they'll have a huge Yivo (David Cross) character to take photos with along with some "Space Babes" at some upcoming events....

This certainly wasn't the funniest episode ever, imho. I chuckled some, but never really laughed. A previous poster mentioned Family Guy -- I got that feeling too, about halfway through the movie. Instead of developing an intelligent story line (as earlier futuramas and FG's did) this one seemed to drift almost aimlessly through the plot, relying on spur-of-the-moment gags (such as the later FG's). I sure hope this isn't the long-term path of futurama.

I think the 90 minute format is a big problem. The plot of BWaBB would have fit nicely into a :22 episode. Instead it dragged on.

And what happened to Fry's undying love for Leela? I know they were painting themselves into a corner by advancing that plotline in previous episodes, but here, they just flat-out abandon it!

I've only watched BWaBB once, maybe it will be better on the second viewing. Only problem is, this time, sadly, I'm not anxious to see it again.

I've been a huge Futurama fan since the beginning, so it pains me to say this:

Things just keep getting worse and worse. I'm actually scared for the next dvd. I had high hopes for BWABB. I thought "it couldn't be worse than BBS..."

I can sum my opinion of BWABB in one word: ridiculous. (and that's a lot considering we're talking about a science fiction cartoon).
