There were only 4 seasons. Fox aired the 18 episodes produced for the last season in two separate parts, thus creating the myth of a 5th season.

For now, they are only making the 4 DVD movies which will probably then be worked into the rerun rotation. I guess you could consider that a 5th season.

There are no plans yet, but maybe they will make more after that. Only Fox knows what Fox knows.

4 production seasons, 5 on air seasons. Have heard some on the show call the 4 movies the 6th season.

Judging from the incredibly mixed reviews.. I'm hoping I can find this at Blockbuster to rent instead of buying =/

I'll probably buy this movie because of my impulsiveness, but does anyone know if they'll package all four movies in some Collector's special set? I'd be keen on getting that!

I honestly dont get the negative reviews...I thought it was easily funnier than BBS. Especially the bender & son scene....which may have been the single best scene in futurama history.

I have only heard of a season 6 (vol 5) set coming out. it will be the sixteen 22 min tv cuts of the movies in 4x3 rather than 16x9

well, i don't know how they did it but number two sucked worse than number one. sorry, but there is little chance it's gonna get better. the writers have lost their edge.or are just out of ideas. maybe fox knew what they were doing when they cancelled it

Bigmike, did you watch the movies with your eyes glued shut and your ears inside-out? They were hilarious, well written and presented expertly. It's a nice change from the re-runs at least.

This movie was hilarious. BBS was pretty damn funny but suffered a bit from the convoluted main story and a couple really bad songs. This second movie is just plain funny. Hard to see a Futurama fan being disappointed. It is definitely worth buying.

The ONLY reason that Futurama was cancelled in the first place was that half the time it was put up right behind Fox football which caused part of it to be not shown so it never had a fair chance. It's an extremely funny show that I think in many respects is better than the Simpsons and the fact that it after all this time still has the support of many fans proves it. FOX NETWORK dump some of those lousy shows you currently have on that no one watches anyway and give fUTURAMA another chance.

Yes , I watched it three times, Once alone and once with each of my sons,13 and 15, and we all agreed, it sucked. I am a huge Futurama fan, and I admit, it must be much harder to write 90 minutes vs. 22 minutes, but come on, it was bad, they knew it was bad while and after they wrote it and you could tell from the way the actors voiced the words, they knew it was bad. It just wasn't funny, it was more sad than anything else. sad to see the best animated show ever gone to whatever they called that mess. I would like to see Futurama replace that crapfest of a show american dad, I think taking it back to 22 min. Futurama could regain it's glory.

Go back and watch it again. There is plenty of material here that is at least as good as anything from the original series. I'll agree that BBS left a lot to be desired but that was due the heavily reliance on recycled material which I personally didn't appreciate.

I'm going to agree with BigMike on this one. Both movies seem to have lost the edge. With BBS I assumed it was just shaking the dust off and getting back into the groove, but BwBB was almost as bad in my opinion. The saving factor for me was that Bender was himself in this episode. BBS should have never had a hypnotized Bender because when Bender isn't himself the show suffers, actually when any of the characters aren't themselves I think the show suffers which I think is another reason I disliked this movie. Mind control is only funny for a bit...

I just finished watching BwBB and I thought it was a blast. Hedonismbot is in top form. Only complaint, not enough of the Zoid.

Beast With a Billion Backs may have been a bit too trippy for me. The whole redefining of what love is, and everyone really acting out of character. Then it's left up to always immoral Bender to make things right. Weirdo. The preview for Bender's Game looks awesome. Looking forward to it. And of course to Number 4.

Both films suffer from some pacing issues. I still find them to be quite humorous and in the vein of past Futurama episodes though. But I think the show's frame works better in a half hour slot rather than stretching it across a 90 minute time span. I don't think either film sucked by any means, but they aren't perfect either. Regardless, here's hoping the DVD sales continue to impress. I'd like to see Fox or Comedy Central reboot the series and renew for an actual season rather than direct-to-DVD films.

everyone talks about the problems with the two movies but fails to bring up the biggest problem of all -

what made futurama so genius was its ability to reference OTHER shows and sci-fi themes.

the two movies CONSTANTLY reference ONLY other futurama episodes. for instance, the "2:10 to nutley" woman. they use the "nutley" joke in an episode, and then they use the same "nutley" reference in a movie.

the movies just rehash the same ideas, themes, and jokes of previous futurama episodes. they used to be fresh in that they would poke fun at the themes from OTHER shows.

They seem more or less focused upon making these movies as more of a tribute to the fans by playing upon past episodes. "Bender's Game" might break that pattern as it's running in a completely different vein than the past two films.
