Can't get enough Futurama

Into the Wild Green Yonder Review

For what could be the last time, the mailman dropped off a pre-release Futurama DVD from FOX at my door a few days ago. "Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder" is the fourth and probably final direct-to-DVD feature-length movie release after "Bender's Big Score", "The Beast with a Billion Backs", and "Bender's Game". The DVD is available for preorder from amazon and will be on shelves around the US on February 24th.

Read my review of Into the Wild Green Yonder.

Heh, I just stopped by to see when the release date is; you got it pretty early.

Good to know it's good, though I just skipped to the rating of your review since I don't have the faintest clue what the movie is about and I'd like to keep it that way until I get it. :)

Probably final?
I thought they were saleing really good :(
SmartyFeb 3rd 2009, 04:17
He said final direct-to-DVD movie. If there is more, they will probably make the show, not more movies.
KimberlyFeb 3rd 2009, 08:17
Groening, Cohen, et. al PLEASE give us more Futurama! Fox knows there is a demand and have admitted that the direct-to-DVD productions far exceeded expectations so they have got to let you produce more! :)

I just can't get enough of Fry, Leela, and the rest of the gang.

Less The Simpsons and more FUTURAMA'S seasons. I think Futurama can give us better adventures and other stories than The Simpsons.

It's the time for Futurama. The Simpsons must retire , it has too many seasons. A chance for FUTURAMA!!
tomsontwinsFeb 3rd 2009, 20:48
yo nurplanet... i think there's room in the universe for both simpsons and futurama. one doesn't affect the other. i love them both. simpsons has been great this season. the futurama movies have been fun. i want both. is that too much to ask for... oh wait... i guess i'm getting both right now. but i want both to continue.
angryatgotfuturamacomFeb 4th 2009, 05:56
you know what we do need to get rid of for futurama FUCKING AMERICAN DAD! enough seth you got family guy (which is by the way one of the contributing reasons that Arrested Development by moving them to new time slot and lowering their production number of episodes) american dad should have been cancelled but no King of the Hill does FUCK THAT. King of the Hill is bomb. Then that fucker seth gets another show a spin clevand show. what the hell fox. The simpsons can stay get rid of american dad and clevand show and bring on arrested development and FUTURAMA!!!!

Sorry to tell you this angryatgotfuturamacom but this is the comments for the review of Into the Wild Green Yonder, if you want to bitch about Family Guy and American Dad, you want to go to the "It's got a TV!" section on PEEL.
Gladiatorv1Feb 4th 2009, 23:55
angryatgotfuturamacom, good news my friend, you about to get another seth show on fox, the cleveland show!
ColinFeb 5th 2009, 09:56
American Dad is a creative show, it's not just a clone of Family Guy like many people think. Take the time to watch it and give it a chance.

But yes, Futurama is probably one of the smartest shows that should have never been canceled.
JoeFeb 8th 2009, 03:32
Nooooo!!!!
It can't be the last movie.
It just can't be.
StephenFeb 10th 2009, 05:17
EVERYBODY MUST BUY THE DVD'S. The writer's of Futurama have produced some of the funniest shows ever written, and it would be a shame if we let the chemistry expire!!!! Make sure FOX brings it back!!!
NimFeb 11th 2009, 17:02
Is there any development between Fry and Leela whatsoever? This has a certain chance to make/break the movie for me because I am not expecting any more futurama after this.
JeffFeb 12th 2009, 03:54
I know Matt and David would like to do more Futurama and such. The only problem I see here is Fox. However, they are not the only company who broadcasts and such. Couldn't they go through someone else? I've had some of my DVDs come through MGM. Just an example of another company. Perhaps if Fox doesn't want to do any more Futurama, they could team up with another company like MGM to do it.
At the same time, the Futurama universe is embiggened through the introduction of two new alien species and a backstory for a character that has been a mystery for fans of the show since the very beginning.
What character has been a mystery since the very beginning? Scruffy?
I hope it wont be nibbler-related like Benders Game...and Benders Big Score. Sorry, but i'm getting tired of that niblonean crap.
JesseFeb 19th 2009, 00:52
DrKnievel : the mystery character is the guy in the #9 shirt that has showed up during the series....

I just got done watching it and I thought it was ok, My least favorite of the 4 dvd movies, but I think that when I get the DVD and watch it again I will like it alot more, I really hope that the Series starts again, they left it off at the end where it could be either 100% done, or they could easily pick up where they left off....Heres hoping that the Planet Express crew returns for more deliveries!
SmokeyFeb 19th 2009, 17:04
I also just finished watching it. It's my favorite of the four movies. It makes for a reconciliatory ending.

After being very, very excited when the four movies were announced, after having watched the first three, I felt like 'They rather shouldn't have bothered'.

IMO, the last movie has the most genuine Futurama-feeling and also has the best jokes. Subjective, I know, but I was smiling/laughing during this movie way more often than during the first three.

Well to condense it in a scale x/10 for all four movies, my rating goes:

BBS: 6/10
BBB: 5/10
BG: 4/10
IWGY: 7.5/10

I heard the movies are selling very well (anyone has a current source to this?) and I bought thenm too to increase the chances that Futurama is continued in some form. I would highly prefer Futurama to be continued with a 6th season with 22mins episodes. Futurama just works best at this length. Although I am a big fan of Futurama, I could live if no more Futurama material was ever produced, after all it's just a TV series! (one of the best ones out there, though :-)

Does anyone have a problem with Leela standing on a dead woman's corpse while making a phone call? That scene seemed way too mean-spirited and actually kind of creepy. I feel the writers blew that one, no way Leela does that. I get the intent of the joke, but again that's just too dark for a brilliant show like Futurama. With all the "edgy" humor in the show, it's the underlying sweetness of Leela and Fry that sets this wonderful show apart. It's one of the greatest shows of all time. I just can't believe Leela would ever stand on a dead woman's body. I know this sounds like I'm being uptight and that the writers had more freedom to be "outrageous" with the direct to dvd format, but come on..that's not Leela.
BillFeb 25th 2009, 03:07
All in all, this was a great movie. I think I preferred the 1st movie just because I was so excited that it was back, but this one had more of the Futurama feel as stated earlier by Smokey. The ending could not have been more perfect and to be honest, brings a good closure to the whole series. If they never make another movie or episode again, I can live on very happily, though I do hope there are more as this series was way better than Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad, and they are still making those!
LeelaFryloveMar 3rd 2009, 22:01
I LOVE FUTURAMA! And i really hope they make a 5th! I can't stand the suspense of fry and leela's first real kiss! They need to make more movies and more episodes........i know hundreds of people who would buy them and watch them over and over again!
FuzzyMar 5th 2009, 01:19
I absolutely loved this from beginning to end, and if this is the last time we see Futurama(which i hope not) its the way im happy with, and thats too see Leela and Fry finally together. Good Job Fry (and Leela). There was alot of laughs i had in this. i didnt expect Seth McFarlane the creator of Family Guy and other Fox shows to sing the opening title. Probably cuz i heard he didnt care much for the show, i guess i was wrong. At any rate, i hope everyone picks up a copy of Into The Wild Green Yonder, i can safely saw you wont be disappointed with the ending or any part for that matter.
DamianperthwaMar 8th 2009, 11:19
Just watched the Futurama 5th movie, gotta love it. keep up the good work and keep the magic going cause futurama is a cartoon that would never be forgotten and surly missed.
KikeMar 17th 2009, 00:01
I love Futurama. But this movie is AWFUL.
AlexMar 20th 2009, 04:59
i just saw the movie its great
but the unconclusive ending....well its still great i encourage lots of people to see it
VasiliiMar 29th 2009, 04:20
Agree with Kike

the last movie is REALLY AWFUL.
RandyHumeMar 30th 2009, 22:54
I enjoyed Into the Wild Green Yonder. It may have been lacking a bit in the humour department. But the characters and events were interesting. And the ending was sad yet full of hope.
Too bad all the movies couldn`t have been as strong as Bender`s Big Score. But there will be a major void if Futurama does not return to TV. No doubt there will 17 stupid shows starring Quagmire. sigh
AvinashTyagiApr 10th 2009, 05:39
Silence, those who want Simpsons to retire!

We need both, in fact fox should become the Matt Groening channel
