Just wasn't feeling this episode. I feel like all the new episodes are too random. They seem to lack the quality storytelling the other episodes do. I don't like ending an episode with me scratching my head. Hopefully they can turn it around and go back to the smart writing.

Yup, quality has definitely gone down. Understand, I LOVE LOVE LOVED the first four seasons. Emotional, superb story telling, awesome settings, hilarious and clever jokes.

And I liked the four films that followed season 4. With decreasing interest, but they were still watchable and contained old futurama qualities.

But now..it's just not the same anymore. I could barely sit through this episode. It's less like a regular futurama episode and more like a compilation of one liner jabs at Apple.

I think all series need to always do new things to have a future, and I loved this episode. It was funny, easy gags or not.

This was the first of the new series that really made feel Futurama can be a great series again.

Comparisons with South Park others have made are quite right, but I much prefer the odd topical episode. The new slant made it feel fresh for me, something I was disappointed not to find in episodes 1 and 2.

My favourite thing about the show has always been how it plays with language to make new kinds of jokes, and there were plenty of those moments in this one. Plus I like the new slightly more obscene gags, they give it a little more edge.

The only negative I have

I think your right about how they need to change as series go on, For instance Scrubs, that started off as just all jokes, then he got serious, Same with family guy, Everything changes, I do see Futurama is more life Family guy and south park using present day stuff (iphone) and having fun with it.

Will we ever get another Jurassic Park? Who knows It's futurama anything possible.

I loved it, but there were too many things happening at the same time. I think.

I agree with Andy and Whys comments. They know what it takes to make Futurama episodes great, you just have to look on here to see what the fans want, episodes like 'Jurassic Bark' and 'Roswell that ends well' they are great story's which make you wonder about the universe of the future, coupled with great jokes that don't rely on South Park or Family Guy style humour for laughs.
It works for them, but Futurama's setting makes the story possibilities endless, and its been that plus its story-lines which make it great.
I hope the shows creators read our humble fan sites and take note of the comments, we want our show back! :)

Look...any series has great and not so great episodes. I think the new episode is definitely cranking it up. The new eps are definitely better than the movies and Mom was great, She is even more of an a$$ on Comedy Central than on Fox.

There are good moments in all 3 of the new episodes. It has to be hard to recapture the mojo 100%. Give it a chance. The new episodes are better than 99% of the sludge on TV. I am so glad Futurama is back. Keep it coming!

I must say I found this episode much better than last weeks. Yes it will take time to get back to what it was. I will give it a chance. I still have the original series on DVD so it will take some time for me to get adjusted to this new season.

This was an awesome episode! Why all the comparison to the previous seasons? They have all been great, and some episodes are better than others.

I think this was the best of the 3 episodes so far. I'm so happy they are back. here's to the FUTURE of Futurama!

I thought this episode was great and I can't wait to see more. I don't understand the negativity of the first few posters. And unlike the first poster, I thought the ending to this episode was great.

This is the best yet. I don't really know what people are expecting. Most of these new episodes I would put on par with the first seasons. Yes, there's some sloppiness, but it's still the fun show I remember. This recent episode is right on with the classics: taking on a modern subject (internet, youtube, and taking them on with the best kind of humor)....and I didn't even get the SUSAN BOYLE references until someone else referenced it. It was hilarious regardless, and next week's looks even more hilarious.

The best episode in a long time! Don't get me wrong, love every single episode but WOW, this episode was so cleverly written, I got all the references and it was absolutely hilarious. Some brilliant one liners, too!

So far this seasons been everything I love about the show. And this one is no different. Managing to make fun of todays world through the future. Great stuff. I can't wait for more.

I watched on comedy central... hope the ratings are good there... need for the show to come back. Loved it. Seen the first two eps like 4 times now. This one just once. They get better on multiple viewing for me. Same with the movies.

You can't write the show for the fans... you usually end up with crap. The writers just have to do what they want and hopefully we like it. it's the same group of writers... problem with fans is they think they own the show and characters and everyone thinks they're writers... it's just not so.

I have to say I've been somewhat disappointed with the new season so far. I loved Futurama for its eclectic mix of sexual innuendo, gross physical humor, nerdy references, non sequiturs and satire. Now Futurama sucks in the way that the Pimpsons sucks: too many cheap pop culture references and lack of original story telling. I used to love the Pimpsons too, but it has been in a steady decline for the past several years and the last season was absolute crap. This episode wasn't completely awful tho. I loved Zoidberg, Mom was classic and how could you not laugh at the alien goat?

Ok, I'm sold. They've ramped back up to at least baseline Futurama quality. This episode would fit right in with seasons 3 or 4. I assumed they'd get rolling again with the 3rd episode, and they're definitely on track. I think we can look forward to some more great storytelling in addition to some of these lighter episodes (which there have been plenty of in previous seasons, too).

this episode wasnt too good... yea there was some funny jokes that made me chuckle, but i could watch a garbage show like 2 and a half men and chuckle just as much. this episode kinda felt like a south park episode (a show that has gone ENTIRELY DOWNHILL) this is coming from someone who thinks all the movies were better than any of these new episodes

Why do think the show needs to be making you fall out of you chair laughing your ass off? It doesn't the characters are outrageous and interesting. The art is amazing and the story is ALWAYS quality, with great laughs! Futurama obtained its recognition not when it was originally aired on FOX but when people who loved the show bought the DVDs and watched every re-run on Adult Swim. My point is your not going to get the full spectrum of humor and story of these episodes until you watch them more than 2 or 3 times...this is why you can watch your beloved first four seasons over and over and not tire of them.

Where's the heart??? Come on. Yes, Fry gave in to a moment of weakness, but he was MISERABLE over what he did to Leela, and that showed great heart. And he did what he could to rectify it. And Leela forgave him. That's not heart? I love those angsty moments between them. It's a hell of a lot better than always lovey-dovey everything's perfect. I think the Futurama crew is doing a great job so far. I can't wait to see more.

I LOVED the show that got canceled on Fox. This is NOT the same show that got canceled.

It is now South Park set in the Future. Some people may like that, but it isn't the show I liked anymore.

So three episodes in and it sadly looks like Futurama has totally jumped the shark and should have been left to rest after the last TV season.
All the old intellectual humour has been grossly simplified or completely replaced by smut jokes. It's now full of pop culture references to awful , instantly forgettable things (That Susan Boyle "joke" is unwatchable) that will date the episodes horrendously. And worst of all, the writers are unable to actually write an episode with an story and ending that involves the characters in a meaningful way. The v-giny (not funny at all) sphere isn't killed off at the end of ep2 and the gang don't resolve things with mom and the eyephones in ep3 so they have no impact on a situation making the whole episodes events pointless.

Gutted.

My opinion might be completely biased but I've been a fan of the show for years, totally happy to get the chance to work on it now. A very small group of people are working very hard to make this show happen. Some people will never be satisfied I guess.

I've been a follower of Futurama since its original run on Fox, and I have to say I am really disappointed with the direction the series seems to be taking. I know it's early in the season, but all the wit and charm of classic Futurama seems to have been lost in time.

I can't fit all my thoughts into this text box so I'll try to summarize. The original Futurama relied on several layers of jokes from sight gags to complex physics and math references driven by simple but solid storylines. The new episodes seem to lack most of the layers of humor and the simple, effective plots have been replaced by more complex but less internally consistent messes that aren't easily wrapped up by the end of the episode.

There was real character development in the original series, but in the new episodes I don't feel like I know where the characters are going at all. They seem to be almost caricatures of the older versions of themselves at times. Are Fry and Leela chromatically involved now or what? The first episode seemed to imply they would be, and the second episode hinted it, but by the third Leela is back to referring to Fry as a "friend" and they're hugging instead of kissing. I know that sounds like a dumb point to complain about but it's only one example of the overall lack of consistency I feel in the characters.

The gross humor is another point. There seem to be "shock" jokes made now just because the writers can, and it really contrasts with the tone of the original episodes.

Futurama is my favorite show. I'll keep watching and hoping that the series gets back on track. I honestly don't expect it, though. The writers seem to have lost their magic. Without quality scripts, all the gags in the world won't bring the series back to its former glory.

Just stop watching Treg and start rewatching your DVDs. There's one thing I've learned in life and that's you can't make everyone happy. While some people are laughing, others are bitching. So all you can do is steer your own course and let those who will hate, hate.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised at the amount of negativity. Yeah, a lot of plot points were pretty stupid or terrible (especially Susan Boil). And the episode strongly set itself up to revolve around Mom's scheme and then ended with no resolution for it. Instead, we got a Leela-centric episode...even though we just got two of those before this one.
On the other hand, this episode has had by far the best jokes of the 3 we've seen so far. The entire first act was gold.

That's exactly it I'm afraid. It feels like (poor) fan scripts of futurama rather than the original because of the points people are outlining in their comments. (smut jokes, culteral references, incoherent storylines).

Please don't be arrogant enough to think that "oh you'll never please everyone" - the very fact we're posting on this site means you are talking to the die-hard fans who've loved the show from the start.

Be graceful enough to accept people's feedback and incorporate it into future productions so the quality level returns and then you really will satisfy everyone.

Funniest episode so far this series

The writers are clearly still finding their feet
I thought most of the DVD films were a bit dissapointing but I'm still happy I bought them

Futurama will keep getting better, it always has, people are way too critical these days

Comedy has also moved on, Futurama like the rest tries new things to see what works and what doesn't, to turn on the show after 3 episodes is a bit much, wait until the season is done and see how it went

Just noticed some of the main complaints

Futurama has always had "smut jokes" Bender's antennae, the majority of Zap's stuff, Mom and the Professor and countless others

Pop culture references have always been in Futurama albeit on a lower level and usually not so current

I fail to see where the storylines are suddeny nonsensical, not every episode can be a Fry and Leela lovefest, how dull would that get?

I'm normally very picky and skeptical, but so far I'm satisfied with the reborn Futurama. The EyePhone episode had a lot of LOL gags, and even though the point was a bit trite, it was amusing.

Everyone that is an original fan should be able to see the dramatic changes to the show, and apparently we don't like it, and I don't buy this "Every show must change" crap.

It does not have to change, it was awesome for 5 seasons and 4 movies.

It can still be awesome, if they bring back the original writers.

I thought that the episode was alright, not good but not bad. One of the reasons why Futurama was so great was that it had a balence of sexual jokes and other jokes. However, since these new episodes have been on they all seem to be unbalenced and I almost get the feeling that i am watching Family Guy or somthing. Where it is just sex jokes after sex jokes. I just hope that this changes in the next few episodes. I give this episode a 6 out of 10.

The fact that you automatically assume that I am a writer is interesting. Many of the original writers are working on the show. The last episode that was aired that you are discussing was written by Patric Verrone, who has been with the show since the beginning.

I am sorry if you are taking what I say as arrogant or if you see me as some sort of fanboy ruining the show. The fact is I am an artist who has worked in the animation industry for years on several other hit shows and films. I still say it is one of the funniest shows currently on television. Everyone that I know that is a fan of the show has found the current episodes to be very funny and enjoyable. I don't think that the ones that have aired have reached the level of being classic, but that is something that only time will tell Others can feel differently, that is their right.

LOVED IT!

My requirement for all new eps/movies has been "It has to be at least as good as the worst episode ever" in order to make this worthwhile. So far every episode/movie has been superior to "Bend Her," so from BBS to Killer Ap, they all pass the test, most with flying colors, and I still love Bend Her - the worst episode EVER.

I found the Killer Ap to be hilarious and fun. I loved to see Mom again, I loved all the Apple jokes. I coulda done without the Susan Boil stuff, which was a little too far for my tastes, but I'm not writing the show. In general, I could do without the "adult fart jokes" which have been prevalent through all the "new" incarnations. Penis jokes just really aren't funny. The original series had a lot of funny adult jokes "why couldn't she be the other kind of mermaid..." But just saying the word "penis" or "V-Giny" isn't funny.

Sorry, I digress. I'm LOVING the series so far, and can't wait for a TV broadcast for the first time in ages. Ironic too that I'm subscribed to the HD eps on my Apple TV!

Jokes were on point:

Mom's cry of "you bastards!" before triple slapping her sons, the Japanese toilet ("Prease. Not to throw away. I give you - happy poopy time", and the Professor with his contradictory statements.

Show is hilarious as ever and as a fan of the whole Fry/Leela dance ("The Sting" being my fav episode), I loved the plot and the way the episode ended (it WAS resolved. Very realistically, might I add. The zombies were a metaphor representing sheeple. Which the world is filled with).

Cannot wait for the next episode.

I especially admire the way they're handling Fry and Leela's relationship. In this episode they we're like little kids around each other, first while talking on their eyephones ("I'm hanging up now.") and then this:

(Leela finds Fry sitting outside Planet Express building)

Fry: (shocked) Leela!
Leela: Fry... I came to talk to you.
Fry: No, I came to talk to YOU.
Leela: It looked like you were just sitting there. But whatever.

Bwahahaha.

It's great to hear Leela sound so vulnerable and use expressions almost as child-like as Fry's.

It's a very clever and subtle way of showing that she's in love with him without actually making her declare it.

Great job, writers for Futurama! Here's to more laughs throughout the 23 or so episodes of this brand new season. WOO WOO!

Wow, i'm a hard core futurama fan, have been since the very first episode aired, needless to say, i was extremely excited about this new season, when i saw the first two episodes, i was more then disappointed but i figured that it's been of the air and it needs to get its groove back.

After watching all of the new episodes, i'm refusing to believe that this new season exists. One of the things that kept the old episodes interesting was watching what would happen between fry and leela, now there's no exitement, no tention or anything between them.

I knew that this season would be more "adult", but it doesn't mean that they have to make almost every joke sexual, it completely ruins the value of the show.

Watching Bender and Amy date was it for me, i officially believe that this show will never be the same. They haven't made a single delivery, which is what made the show what it is, seeing all the goofy planets, and all the goofy aliens, it was original and amazing.

Now they're trying to make episodes about youtube, and have everyone date. Where has all the originality gone? It's like watching south park and family guy all in one. I'm a die-hard fan of Futurama, and i am severely disappointed in this new season.

We want more than 26 episodes!!!
